The issue you have is that you're assuming it's meant to be Ultramarines, when it's just a generic space marines box. It's listed as
>Space Marines: Indomitus Task Force
not
>Ultramarines: Indomitus Task Force
It HAS to be generic units because it's *for* generic space marines.
Are you retarded? Is it the paintjob on the box confusing you?

Temu is currently number one for cheap terrain. Ten pieces of these ruins came in a set for about a tenner. Obviously the quality isn't there, but with a bit of work it's a complete no brainer compared to GW's £200 slop.

The first two are corroborated by multiple sources at least. Tau is consistently said to be coming first and then it's either Drukhari or Tyranids in slot 5.

Odd that we don't have a single rumor engine for Tyranids or Drukhari yet, though we do have one for Tau.

Are battleforce boxes suitable for a beginner?
New to the hobby and wondering if I would be overextending myself.
>>
>>98908248
They're usually a cheaper way to start an army, but the battleforces are not all made equal either. Some are great and useful, some are mediocre with a few units you want and some filler otherwise, some are a waste of money with a single redeeming quality.

Which one(s) did you have in mind?
>>
>>98908181
That makes me excited and nervous. Either they are highly prioritizing deldar like SM/Orks/Cuckstodes, or they’re just reprinting the 10th edition codex and replacing all the 10s with 11s.
>>
>>98908248
No. If you're just starting out buy a normal box of 5 or 10 dudes (the coolest possible ones you can find, no wrong answers). Discount boxes aren't true value when you don't know if you even enjoy building/painting/playing yet. Don't let the upsellers tell you otherwise.
>>
>>98908248
Yes, they're pretty much made to be the first or second box you buy when starting an army, out of this christmas lot the only really bad one is the blood angels one, pretty much all the rest are solid and will give you a either a good variety of units or a strong core to your list.

if you are 100% absolute beginner with 0 plastics
do not buy battleforce
buy one or two standalone kits and try painting it first
if you still like it by the end of that and see yourself doing it 20 more times
then you can buy the battleforce

consider the armageddon box

If you've already painted a few models, then the Christmas space marines box would be a good purchase to begin an army list, assuming your first unit wasn't a box of 10 Intercessors.
There's no unit in that box that is "bad" and you get a good variety to go in all directions if you want to grow into multiple lists.

Modern 40k terrain is awful to look at yet great for non-narrative gameplay. It makes sense everything is a Quake arena symmetrical L ruin forest.

My COVID table is awful for anything but narrative gameplay. It's fun to occasionally get a midhammer game in of 4th or 5th.

At the end of the day, Mordheim necromunda is S tier and 40k terrain is always going to look sort of messy, plain, and jumbled for 95% of your games outside of big conventions, warhammer world, or custom at-home passion priject tables.

If you put the effort in, you can make the spectacle look great. However models / your army takes priority with getting models painted and most people or store owners rushed out terrain just to get the game going and get tables ready for events.

We're talking about someone who is trying to START an army, he doesn't have any options right now.
The only thing in that box that I can't see a good use for is the Chaplain. The rest are either very good (terminators, dreadnought) or serviceable (termie captain, intercessors, jump packs). The JPI are the weakest entry otherwise, but I'd still consider them as "something to have on the shelf" because GW loves to do their rotating meta thing.
>mould line issues
So do many other 40k kits being sold today. You can't win them all.
>Intercessors are bad
They're only "bad" in the sense that they're the baseline of the overtuned marine roster. They're completely serviceable, even if just as backline screening; I'd suggest everyone who plays marines own some for this reason, but they aren't terrible on-field either unless you expect every game you play to be against 30 terminator doomstacks.
In the case you plan to play every game against 30 terminator doomstacks, I'd say to not do so, because that is the opposite of fun. This is a game first and foremost, waacfaggotry and tourneys have done nothing good for us.

All I'm saying is that if anon wants to start an actual space marine army, having that box would not be the worst purchase he could make.

Had my game vs. Tau Empire, it was Host of Ascension vs. Kauyon & Auxilliary detachment. My opponent was playing cagey so I went in very aggressive on the first two turns before the Kauyon ability activated and wiped me out.
Twin Lances were protecting his expansion objective, I dropped 20 neos and Aberrants near and got two 12 and 11" charges, I was able to kill them before they did anything. It forced my opponent to play on his side of the table while I was just scoring stuff.

>Are sisters fun to play?
Yes if you like gambling
No if you like feeling like it was a fair fight

SoB have some major issues as a roster (lack of good anti-vehicle across many units, over-reliance on Morvenn Vahl, overcosted units because they're assumed to have a guaranteed 6 for every roll, too reliant on attached characters) but they have a lot of ways to skin the same cat with these limitations.
Full Penitent can be fun, "woman too angry to die" Hallowed Martyrs can be fun (and is my favorite), "death from above" Bringers/Chorus of Condemnation is stupid fun.

The only real hard part is figuring out for yourself how much you're investing into miracle dice on the army roster stage. The Triumph is a gorgeous model that guarantees most dice are a 6, but it's 12.25% of your total army in terms of points, so you've usually got to find a way around that with Dialogus and "combine 2 dice into 1 better one" enhancements.

If she isn't going Repentia that means she genuinely does not believe she did anything wrong. Repentia is an oath taken for those who confess to wrongdoing or a lapse of faith, a second chance on the basis that they are truly repentant. Those who are accused of some sort of crime against their duty or their oaths and refuse to repent are either put in a Penitent Engine (if the evidence is inarguably ironclad against them) or dismissed into a place of humiliation (if the evidence is inconclusive enough, or if the sister in question has a very powerful member of the Sororitas testify on her behalf).
Of course, the opposite is possible as well. If a highly respected Sister of Battle leader accuses her of some crime or another, but has no evidence to actually prove it, that would suffice for her to be soft-exiled into a place of shame. Sisters of Battle are genuinely terrible people who all hate each other because their religion is an endless series of purity tests looking for the moment they finally break, their entire institution is designed to turn them against each other and constantly seek the smallest sign of weakness to pounce upon and torture their own comrades in the most savage way imaginable.
But yes, if she's not Repentia then she refused to accept guilt for what she did. Them's the rules.

To buy the items out of that box on their own that we both agree are worth it to get (Dreadnought, Terminators), it costs $157 at GW prices.
That makes
>10 Intercessors
>1 Chaplain
>5 Jump Pack Intercessors
>1 Captain in Terminator Armor
cost $20 for all 17 of these combined. Even for the Intercessors and termie captain, $20 is an amazing price. On their own 10 Intercessors cost $67.50 and that captain costs $48.50. Again, all prices at GW.

This is phenomenal for people looking to expand into building an actual army list, because all of these are useful to some degree (again, sans the Chaplain without Bladeguards or something similar, but then that's an easy avenue for expansion). The purpose of the battleforce boxes is to be a launchpad to further expand at a discount, the Christmas space marine box does that and then some.
I'm not one to defend GW ever with the bullshit decisions they make, but this is genuinely a good box for current game.

You are correct, I was basing off of the older battleforce price, that's on me
The Christmas box costs $265. All of the items in it on their own would cost $378.5
You're getting the Chaplain, JPI and $8 from the termie captain cut off when you buy the Christmas space marine box.

There's not a lot of overlap which is nice. Some similar units, jump pack intercessors vs vanguard vets are a good comparison. You wind up with 20 intercessors which you probably don't need but everything else you'll have unique and getting a dreadnought rounds out the land speeder nice. Overall a good compliment

Build your box of Sisters into Dominions, it's option 3 in the instructions, you're supposed to be able to do it. I'd recommend meltas.

Other than that, things to look out for:
>Morvenn Vahl and Paragon Warsuits bodyguard
These are a must in most SoB armies to kill vehicles and elite infantry
>Intranzia Fraye
Solid frontline unit to give buffs (Lethal Hits) to one target per turn for any of yours attacking it
>Castigator
AP buff to anything that shoots the same target, and is one of your only "can take hits" frontline models on the table. My recommendation is 1 Castigator per 1k points of game size.
>Exorcist
This is your "kill stuff" vehicle. D6+2 s10ap-3 rockets that do d6 damage each are a solid threat against marine armies. Only bring 1 of these (unless you're using the Chorus of Condemnation detachment)
>Immolator
This is your bread and butter vehicle. Put the special weapon half of your Dominions into it, run them up-field, and jump out onto whatever you want dead. Leave the back half of the Dominions on a rear-field OBJ to farm miracle dice with a Simulacrum. Have 1 Immolator per squad of Dominions or Retributors.
>Zephyrim and a Jump Pack Canoness
This is your "closest thing" to terminators as of today. Deepstrike on top of rear line enemy, kill it, then run away. If they die, you get miracle dice.
>Arco-Flagellants
A 10-man unit can do 60 s5ap0 melee attacks with sustained hits to do even more attacks. With an attached Ministorum Priest, you get a +1 to every wound roll, and he can do an extra 6 s7ap-2 1d (or 6 s8ap-1 2d) attacks alongside the rest. Run the pack in a Rhino and expect the whole thing to die after rolling all those attacks.
>Celestian Sacresants
Very good (but expensive) tar pit unit. Attach a Hospitaller and a Dogmata or Palatine and 10 of them are a menace on a center OBJ.
>Sisters Novitiate
Good melee unit for a Palatine, and also the only Infiltrators in the roster. If nothing else, good speed bump.
>>
>>98909115
>>98909083
>>
I'm so full of (pumpkin) seed :3
>>
>>98909068
Ehhhhhh kinda? You're ending up with
>Captain leading 10 Intercessors
>Chaplain leading 10 Intercessors from the Xmas box
>Jump Chaplain leading 5 Vanguard Vets
>Terminator Captain leading 5 Terminators
>5 Assault Intercessors w/ Jumppacks
>3 Eradicators w/Heavy Bolters
>An Ancient
>A Librarian
>A Land Speeder
>A Redemptor Dread

The Assault Intercessors instead of more Vanguard Vets is a bit annoying, and you don't need too many Intercessors, but they make a good start to a full 2K army.

So that Vostroyan army is 5.280,00 €, or about 6,100 Burger Bucks.
Just what GW still makes would cost about $3,450. Not including all the old Forgeworld vehicles and Vostroyans.
Now on the Vostroyan infantry, using the most recent (albeit inflated) prices from the MTO, that's:
1,794 for the basic infantry
320 for the Snipers
720 for the heavy weapons
That's $2834+3450 which already brings you up to $6284
So it's like you're getting all the Forgeworld stuff for free. And a free paint job.

Too bad I don't have $6200 just sitting around doing nothing.

The named SoB characters are also very good, but I struggle to include many of them in my army lists.
>Aestred/Agathae are a great lead unit for Sacresants or Insidiants
>Junith is a great backline camper for command points but that's it
>Celestine is genuinely not worth bringing, she's been nerfed too much
>Triumph is guaranteed 6 for most miracle dice, but is absurdly expensive
>Daemonifuge is very good against CSM (anti-Chaos 2+ keyword), but not worth it otherwise
The generic characters are all good for different things
>Canoness good for generic units, but mostly used as a free miracle die and an action bot
>Jump Pack Canoness I mentioned above
>Dialogus turns any miracle die into a 6
Great for Dominions
>Dogmata are kind of bad but are a good way to make Sacresants a stronger tar pit
>Hospitaller are amazing at keeping units alive, great for Sacresants
>Imagifier gives any unit she's attached to the terminator defensive profile (2+ save, 4+ invuln save) and rerolls for miracle dice nearby
>Ministorum Priest is the only man in the roster, good for Flagellants and his kill team (Sactifiers), but the kill team isn't good enough to bring in most cases
>Palatine adds a mortal wound to a successful melee wound
I love the Palatine. She is mediocre and swingy, but when she hits she is amazing (and only 50 points). "Woman too angry to die stabs heretic war machine to death" has been a meme among my playgroup for a while because of mine killing a War Dog on her own after said War Dog killed her once (Hallowed Martyrs).

I admire Mossa's technical skill and his artistic sensibilities intrigue me quite a bit, but he's not your typical case of twitter faggots crying over nothing burgers. Mossa is very blatantly a real sadist pedophile, not just a lolicon. His english is trash so in his old posts you can see he speaks very literally and in no ambiguous terms about his tastes and the legality of them since he's Korean and even drawings of CP are banned there. Love him, hate him, or be indifferent, it's irrelevant. He is quite fucked up in the head. That is a real fact and it's evident in his work.

Last one I promise
The Penitent Engine/Mortifier are also solid to bring, they're our equivalent of dreadnoughts as "tanky mid-tier infantry support/interdiction before your main force advances" but I don't play Penitent very much so mine see next to no use.
Repentia are good as a sidegrade to Arco-Flagellants, same story as the PEngines that they sit on a shelf more often than not. Repentia play the exact same as Flagellants, they live in a Rhino until they're close enough to jump out on a target and then expect to die the next turn.
It's good to have some "meant to die" units in a SoB army either way, it's one of your ways to get miracle dice so you should obviously plan to lose some.

My playstyle for SoB is very "mainline Sisters" heavy so I tend to avoid the penitent units, but that style is fine as well. It's a bit easier to understand the "Sisters are a trading army" gimmick when you play Penitent at least.

>>
>>98909196
Get a set of the easy to build Intercessors from Armageddon and some paint/tools to put them together. $35 for the models and another $40 for tools/paint to put it all together is not too big an investment if you're unsure of your abilities. Just settle on a way you want to paint your dudes up first and get the paints you'd need for that instead of just buying a bunch of unnecessary colors you won't use.

After that you can expand into the Space Marine range anyway you choose, a good thing about Marines is they're pretty cheap on the secondary market due to how much they're printed. There's also a bunch of Battleforces/Combat Patrols that give decent discounts on a bunch of models.

I admittedly did a bit of a skim and this feels like pearl clutching with a hint of bleeding heart autism.
Is Mossa really that bad or is he just another run of the mill weird fetish artist? Who got into drawing Warhammer 40k stuff that (for the most part like Steel Legion chan being eaten) fits the grimdark tone of 40k?
A lot of artists have to draw weird commission porn these days. Manga artists are notorious for starting out in hentai before breaking into the manga industry.

models or lack of models have no bearing on the fact that there are plenty of people who paint sisters and have little to no trouble painting eyes. if you’re refusing to paint them because its too hard, you might as well be the decalfag insisting on commissioning his models because painting is too hard.

Oddly enough I find most Warhammer 40k vidya to be adverts to buy models like how all supplementary media to Transformers is to sell toys.
But I also think that the supplementary media called "secondary" here may also be for warhammer 40k fans that started with models but moved away from models oddly enough.
Space Marine 1's boltgun sound is still my favorite boltgun sound. Powerful, but not too loud.
Except the heavy bolter sound. That was a poor choice.

Oh 100% and no mistake. They learned the lesson of Dawn of War well, secondaries are a prime way to spread your brand. /tg/ existing is proof of that.

They do a good job of making the bolter your workhorse weapon in Boltgun but I'm a little surprised it doesn't one shot regular cultists, there's not really such a thing as a glancing blow with a bolt round and your basic weapon popping squishies instantly would be great for selling the brand and power fantasy.

You do /yourdudes/ in the most cancer way. The best way to do it is by knowing actual lore, so you can craft /yourdudes/ backstory in a way that still fits with the greater 40K universe and existing lore. How is any of what I said a lie? Your knights are from a "renegade house" just so you can excuse the fact they're painted in colours that don't match any established houses, and they definitely don't show any accurate heraldry. Okay, that's fine enough on its own, but then your main SW force are outcasts living on Fenris... So you're telling me some scrappy outcasts are hiding all these renegade knights on Fenris? Oh and also you're still a mahvelfaggot so you have a bunch of named characters who work with said scrappy outcasts, and they also don't bat an eye at these renegade knights being around? And now you've been pointed out to painting your Bangels wrong it's "yourdudes" with no further explanation lmao. Just lazy, terrible fanfiction all around. I expect this sort of shit from a child.

I don't recall if the melanochrome organ *removes* melanin in the absence of radiation, at least not any faster than one would normally lose a tan, but geneseed, among other things, makes marines look more like their primarch and we know what Alpharius looks like, so Akurra being no-bullshit Subsaharan only makes sense if he just got back from an op that called for cosmetic chirurgery to make him look like that, or if he goes around looking as little like Alpharius as he can to make some kind of point.

The Sanguine Chiroptera

A deeply devout chapter of Blood Angels who’s red thirst manifests itself with extreme clarity while they stay under the cover of darkness, they are used explicitly to invade and destroy enemy locations/planets that contain very little or no natural light sources and are often spoken of as living shadows rather than real Marines. Some of them adorn a yellow shoulder piece to honor their joint operations with the Frost Claws and are revered friends on Fenris to many especially during unusually intense winter storms which allow them to work together with high levels of intense cooperation. While small in number their elite cunning efficiency more than make up for it and the Imperium continues to make good use of their loyal assassins.

Aren't RG (and some other chapters) all pasty and pale because of failure in the organ? It's weird that Legion Destroyers, who use radiological weapons, are described as sickly and pale, rather than having a tan. But wouldn't be the first time GW writers don't read their own writing.

Okay.

The Venom Dragons are a reclusive, fleet-based Space Marine chapter that operates primarily in the eastern fringes of the Imperium. They wear sharp abrasive scales on their pale gray or green armor, with a penchant for over the top ostentation among the highest performers. Their doctrine favors hit and run tactics by small forces, because they do not focus on attacking overall important strategic objectives, and rather spend their time seeking wealth through plunder. They also have a rather individualistic approach to combat, with each unit doing as the sergeant pleases. Because of this they have a penchant for seeking out one on one honor duels. Units often get distracted looking through storage areas for more loot. On top of this, they have little interest in communicating with or helping other Imperial forces. They have been described by Rogue Trader Tamulon Anisha as "pirates who target Imperial holdings less often than xeno or chaos ones." However this description is perhaps too insulting; while they have been known to occasionally steal from Imperials it has always been in cases with at least some shaky suspicion of heresy already existed. In short, they have not officially gone rogue from the Imperium, nor do they desire to, they simply are not team players. Imperial records in the sector indicate that their geneseed comes from Roboute Guilliman.

>The Spitting Drakes are a successor chapter to the Salamanders founded during the Ultima Founding located on their Chapter planet Komodo. Their armor is Brown and Yellow, with black on the inside of their shoulderpads and red eye lenses, and their chapter insignia is a yellow lizard. Like most chapters related to the Salamanders, the Spitting Drakes have a knack for artisanal blacksmithing, and have developed their own specialized weapons used by the chapter. Experts in chemical warfare, the Spitting Drakes have converted their flamer weapons into gas-guns capable of releasing toxins that are deadly to most xenos foes. Scout forces are launched to unexplored planets to capture live specimens of the native species to examine and determine what toxins would best fell the populace.

Death Locusts
Wearing wearing pale brown armor with gold trim, the Death Locusts utilize a massive amount of serfs and even will often go to the fringes of the Imperium to seek “feral” worlds or at the very least worlds out of contact with the Imperium for extended periods in order to capture the populace and turn them into serfs or simple servitors. This use of serfs is so extensive the entire populace of their homeworld, Grasse is made up of them. In combat, they utilize the serfs having them charge and fight for the Death Locusts, and the marines themselves will stand back providing covering fire if any at all. When their slaves are defeated and the fighting comes to them, they use their heavy bodies to great use, but will often lose to overwhelming numbers.

How'd everyone's hobby weekend go? I finished wiring up some lighting into my bookcases so all the shelves with minis had lights now, and also printed up some risers for the minis to go on. Just gotta paint up where the holes were and hide the wire in the corner a bit better (Might try and see if I can make a wood cut to slide in there to hide the whole corner) but I think it turned out pretty darn good for a day's work.

it definitely wouldn’t get as much hate, but the criticisms are still true, and the lore is still retarded and meant to handwave him being a lorelet under the guise of /yourdudes/. if it was some random poster coming in people would likely still point out the inconsistencies, but with a far more gentle approach because they believe the poster would be susceptible to accepting criticism and rewriting accordingly unlike the mutant who is retarded, and any criticism will just result in him plugging his ears.

>Led by chapter master Nudus Serpentis, one of the last few survivors of the Boundless warriors chapter
>Due to their low numbers and limited resources they've adopted Nudus' old chapter doctrine of stealth and fast in and out attacks
>No recruitment world, the chapter has a fortress monastery on a large remote space station
>Despite being Iron hands successors who should be cold and efficient, the circumstances of their founding have made them sentimental for space marines and they express this by turning the ashes of fallen battle brothers into diamonds they use to adorn their armor and wargear.
>Were almost wiped out by a nurgle incursion

Technically the Night Lords are villains in every book they appear in, since "villain" and "antagonist" mean different things.
As far as NL antagonist books go: Red Tithe, Pharos, Morvenn Vahl: Spear of Faith, Unremembered Empire if you count Curze himself as "Night Lords", probably a couple of others
Red Tithe is particularly solid since the Night Lords are by far the most interesting part of the Carcharodons' debut novel

I am going to boil down all of the Marine chapters posted ITT into a single sentence, including yours.

>Void Rays - Salamanders successors that specialize in boarding enemy ships alongside the Imperial Navy
>Venom Dragons - Possible Ultramarines successors that focus on hit-and-run tactics and like to loot their foes
>Silverbacks - Marines that focus on heavy armor and powerfists and help create openings for other chapters
>Warpfire Dragons - Traitor Salamanders that use warpfire and chaos spawn to fight
>Spitting Drake - Salamanders successors that are also chemical warfare experts that focus on purging local xenos from planets
>Death Locusts - Marines that make use of a large army of serfs to wear out the enemy forces
>Adamant Hounds - Mixed chapter from the Ultima Founding focused on Stealth tactics

And compare that to what you've posted
>Frost Paws - Outcast space wolves who live on Fenris that have a knight house and are called on by Logan Grimnar for the tough fights even though they are considered outcasts
>Sanguine Chiroptera - Blood Angels successors that aren't affected by the Red Thirst and are buddies with the Frost Claws

The blurbs you've written are just plain bland, or are far too Mary Sue for chapters that have very noticeable flaws to them.

>>
>>98910764
NTDF HOWEVER although the frost claws are indefensible, I would allow the Sanguine some room to say they’re night hunters who specialize in darkness and stealth tactics. its still stupid how contrived their relationship with the Frost Claws is, and the models don’t reflect it whatsoever what with the hellblasters, inceptors, and tanks, but the skeleton still isn’t too retarded. I think in order to fix them I’d make the following changes
>the heavy shit is blood angels proper, and lighter units are sanguine
>the reason hellblasters are part of them is they act as immediate backup in reserve in case things go wrong so the rest of the sanguine can retreat to them or the hellblasters can outright push
>their relationship with the frostclaws is relatively recent because they’ve both been sent to armageddon (fenris is a stones throw away, and blood angels are there of course), and they frequently butt heads because many are sent into the networking underhive cause the frost claws are used to the caves in fenris and the blood angels like the darkness.

He just evades the permas and keeps coming back to a place where he's universally despised for how he acts (constant vitriol, lack of accountability, just a general nuisance) because he's banned on sight from other forums while he can just keep ban evading on here. Mods have yet to rangeban for some reason unknown to us plebs.

Are they really that much less cool than whoever you imagined the designated child gf enjoyer faction to be?
>>
>>98910928
>it shouldn't be *that* hard to beat
Sure, but that's sort of part of what makes them obnoxious tbqhfamalam. As a faction they reduce all of their opponents' tactical options and strategies to "skirt around and score more objective points while they push your shit in", and that's just not very fun for a wargame. I haven't played against custodes in 11e tbf, but it reminds me a lot of orcs/lizardmen/nurgle in BB who are just so grossly armoured up and sandpit-y that they're a pain to play against and drag games out for a long and gruelling match where you try to run around them and score as much as possible, don't get to score as much as you'd like, and then draw/lose with such an exciting score like 0-0 or 0-1. Anyway I said I wasn't "necessarily" mad at you but there's also the other factor that if the bigger batman nature of custodes and sandpit-y gameplay like that appeal to you, there's some blame in your direction and I don't like you
>>
>>98910941
They are the least cool faction. Gold is gaudy and anything whose defining trait is being the strongest is inherently lame.
>>
>>98910940
>from redditors ITT
He (you) is the redditor. He literally came after being banned from reddit, said being banned from reddit is how you become a 4channer (his words) and has bragged about his models being loved on Reddit. He (again, you) is the most Reddit man imaginable.
>>
>>98910947
Eh, no offense taken. I've always enjoyed either pocket armies or the exact opposite, so I see what you're saying, it just never really bothered me. I play elites when I want to kill everything I can catch in the open, and if I lose on objectives while doing that I still had a good game. And the opposite, when I want to play objectives and someone brings a pocket army, my list gets to do exactly what it was designed to do.

I guess, as a yardstick, are 11E custodes more or less game-warping than they were in Kill Team? If it's on that level, I can be convinced not to be part of the problem, ha.
>>
What should I do with my nemesis claw bodies anons? I've kind of decided I don't like the idea of using them for death company since conceptually, death company doesn't really represent the vampire side of the blood angels, which is the reason why I bought them, but I'm not sure what else to do with them. Maybe I can use them for reivers or something with the terror troops theme? But I'm not the biggest fan of that either... or maybe I just randomly mix them in, but that seems like it could easily be jarring.
>>
>>98910967
There honestly hasn't been that many batreps here of matches with custodes, at least from what I've seen, so it's a little hard to tell how they actually perform. People seem to be hesitant about playing against marines/custodes until they've got their own powercrept codexes in hand. Certainly on paper it seems as obnoxious as they were in KT though, the telemon is particularly stupid from what I hear.
>>
>>98910955
>anything whose defining trait is being the strongest is inherently lame.
I'd like to direct your ire toward the Grey Knights, whose whole shtick is multiple layers of "they're just built different" and "nah, they'd win"
>Gold is gaudy
Gold is polarizing; you're either great-souled enough to make it feel natural or you're not, and most people aren't.
In any case. they're Your Dudes and there are several codex colorways that aren't so "I LOVE GOLD" if *that* makes you more uncomfortable than liking women half your age (at most)

There's a difference between "being a fan of the Chaos gods" and "being tainted by the Ruinous Powers"
Yes, people who only watch loretubers with AI thumbnails will argue till they're blue in the face that the Night Lords "reject Chaos" or whatever, but looking at the most prominent source of counter-examples, Uzas is 1. retarded and 2. in denial about being lost to Khorne; Cyrion may not have any understanding at all about She Who Thirsts and is just having psyker problems, Vandred is possessed and fucking hates it, and Ruven is despised by everyone he knows. Shadraith from "Red Tithe" is, at minimum, distrusted and merely tolerated by everyone else in his warband, and so on.

>I just like it. I'm not sure what is so unclear about this
It's just strange. Having a loyalist marines army and no interest in doing CSM, it's just a little weird to then buy a CSM box to use for bitz. For a start, CSM have a lot of detail that isn't suitable for loyalist marines, and for this specific idea I get that NL look vampire-themed but they also have a pretty different vibe to BA. Then there's the situation you have run into
>realised your kitbash idea won't work the way you hoped
>now stuck with all this plastic you're trying to figure out how to use
You've just created a problem that didn't really need to exist if you had just stuck to standard BA/loyalist kits. Anyway, if you can't figure out a use maybe sell them online? I'm sure NL bodies would be snapped up quickly, they're popular and someone else could probably use them for a cheap squad with all their extra bitz
>>
>>98911017
But Blood Angels are aristocratic vampires who drink blood from a ruby-encrusted golden goblet, and Night Lords are vampires who drink blood from the fire hose spray of a severed carotid. Completely different vibes.

>I get that NL look vampire-themed but they also have a pretty different vibe to BA
Hmm maybe because there are like 2 BA units tops that are outwardly vampire themed and they are both epic heroes
>realised your kitbash idea won't work the way you hoped
Oh you just don't understand what my problem is.
I didn't decide I don't like the idea.

I just decided I liked a different idea better for death company specifically and I'm trying to decide what other datasheet is suitable to be "the vampire guys." The obvious answer is reivers because they're supposed to be le heccin scary boys but I just don't like reivers much, so now I'm wondering if I just want to make them regular assault intercessors, which I might end up doing desu
>>
>>98911043
Not really.

At the very least it's 50/50.

Besides, I'm not going to just use them straight the way they look on the box, I'm going to mix and match of course. And at the end of the day the NL are still the best way to do the vampire thing with marine parts within GW(which I care about because I like tournaments)
>>
>>98911043
thats just Ventrue vs Sabbat
>>
>>98911066
Yes, they're completely different flavors of vampire whose character design cues would need extraordinary justification to be present at the same time on the same guy.
>>
>>98911052
>there are like 2 BA units tops that are outwardly vampire themed
That's on purpose, yeah. >>98911043 is correct, BA are the pretty boy vamps that hide in plain sight manipulating social politics and such to keep people away from their secret. NL are just straight up nosferatu, different vibes.
>>
First people come at me confused at the concept of a kitbash and now I'm getting hit with youtube shorts lore. This general never beating the 60% secondaries allegations.
>>
>>98911077
If you're the BL/NL guy cowardly refusing to respond to anyone in particular, people are confused because it's a stupid kitbash that doesn't make sense for reasons people have clearly explained.
>>
>>98911077
>bro wants to do a weird kitbash
>doesn't understand why people are confused at that
Okay a little lack of awareness no biggie, we can move past...
>thinks BA and NL are visually similar
It's not really about the lore, it's about how their visual style is different. BA are clearly visually themed after the style of vamps that are seen in public, even hosting big soirees whilst hiding their vampiric nature. NL like I said are styled after the nosferatu, deranged and disfigured vamps who live in the shadows. One can clearly see this in how little vampire stuff is on the BA while the NL... look like that. You must be incredibly dense to not see the distinction and think mixing kits from the two is not weird
>>
Iron warriors are the North Koreans of WH40k and I scratch my head wondering how they are so popular.
>>
>>98911083
If y'all weren't youtube shorts secondaries you would know that
1. All Blood Angel successors are susceptible to the Red Thirst at any time, especially in battle. This applies even the most ostentatious and restrained. It's so central to the faction that the #1 most picked BA detachment for the entirety of 10th edition references this in the rules.
2. The above is the best case scenario, there are multiple successor chapters that embrace it in various ways, which you would know if you had ever touched a BA codex

Oh and 3, the most important one: they're my fucking minis.

But again, you wouldn't know anything about that because you have never touched a blood angels codex or a paintbrush.
>>
>>98911088
>Erm... did you just dry to make your army look different from what's on the box? That's kinda heccin weird of you

Ultramarines fan I take it?
>>
>>98911090
>they're my fucking minis
Notice how nobody is actually saying you should cease all activities and put down the NL sprue? We don't care what you actually do lol, we're just trying to understand what exactly you're doing and then why you are doing it, because it's strange to us. Also don't forget you are the one who created this problem of having extra bodies because you insisted on buying a CSM box for bitz on your loyalists, then you came here to ask what to do with the extra bodies. You instigated all of this, you didn't have to buy another faction's kit for kitbashing, you didn't have to come here asking us what to do with it, you can't get mad at how people respond.
>>
>>98911096
>still missing the point
Tell me, how do you feel about heating knives up to cut plastic?
>>
>>98911090
1. The Angels Resplendent were completely free of the Red and Black until some stuff happened and their Chaplaincy ruined everything
2. The best case scenario leverages the gap between how the Angels present themselves how low they can sink to enhance their appeal, and successors like the Flesh Tearers and Angels Vermilion present different takes on it.
3. They are your minis, but it seems like our opinion is that kitbashing Night Lords bits onto them is not the best way to convey Knights of Blood "feral vampire" vibes and you're probably not going to achieve anything by continuing to argue about it. Do whatever you want.
>>
>>98911118
Didn't they kill all their chaplains?
>>
>>98911118
>seems like our opinion
Bro shut the fuck up. Stop acting like you speak for the thread. I for one am glad someone is doing some kit bashing instead of just running the god awful shartmaris blood angels as is
For the anon posting about your kit bashes, be sure to post them ITT and ignore sanctimonious faggots like this
>>
>>98911119
I need to binge-read Fehervari's oeuvre now that I've got both omnibussi, but my recollection is that the chaplaincy was sidelined, not exterminated, in favor of the librarius during the reformation, and after the events of The Reverie things swung totally in the other direction, with the chaplains taking over and enforcing their perverse, counterproductive ideology on the chapter on pain of death for any deviancy
>>
>>98911123
Yes, it would be really cool if he posted the kitbashed Blood Angels that he implies he already has, since he's trying to figure out what to do with the Nemesis Claw bodies left over from the project.
>>
>>98911118
>it seems like our opinion is that kitbashing Night Lords bits onto them is not the best way to convey Knights of Blood "feral vampire" vibes
As the other anon who's been in this... discussion? argument? My stance isn't quite as harsh as this. I think if anon has an idea in his head for kitbashing some more vampiric looking BA then by all means go for it. I just firstly wanted to know what he was doing with a NL kit in a BA army, but in his explanation he got his hackles up and started acting all defensive, then in the defensiveness he stated that BA and NL look so similar which is an opinion for sure. I'd love to see these models also

The only thing being argued over is how much of a faggot you have to be to whine about how someone else's minis aren't lore accurate enough to the youtube shorts and twitter fanart you've seen.

>Lore
Named after a mythical and terrifying beast of Ancient Terra, the Fightin Hitlers take inspiration from what sparse legends remains of its highly effective hunting strategy: throwing the enemy into disarray via hoarse shouting and loud, discordant song until they've boxed their prey into the "of-in" killzone to be showered with flame and chemical bombardment, reminiscent of the terrible burning chemical spray a Hitler was said to spew from its tail and gas pouches.

Is there anything akin to deathwatch but for CSM? Other than black legion, which I find boring. Maybe something like a warband where other legions marines go when they dont like their legion anymore? I have no idea how to paint my CSM and was thinking a unified color scheme but keeping a shoulder pad or a leg in the original legion color. Either that or...would you recommend painting each unit in a different paint scheme?
>>
new?

>a warband where other legions marines go when they dont like their legion anymore
>but not Black Legion
um
They're your guys; a warband who, in addition to hating the False Emperor, are also autistically hyperfixated on FUCK XENOS isn't unreasonable at all, but one that's 1:1 to the Deathwatch where they take guys from other warbands for a period of time to do specific anti-xeno stuff and then send them back would require an unprecedented level of trust and collaboration among CSM
>>
What green contrast should I get for ork skin?
>>
>>98911257
No, there’s no authority within Chaos like the Inquisition to create anything like the Deathwatch. You could try to make one up on your own, and play a bunch of traitor legion models as legionaries and chosen and such. Maybe give them a unified color scheme.
Beyond that there are red corsairs, they’re a mixed bag, but they mostly come from successor chapters post-Badab war.
>>
>>98911257
I don't know of any such thing in lore, general vibe of Chaos is that the gods and their worshippers really don't see eye to eye and also don't have the social conventions/filter to not rip each others eyes out. I imagine that in GW's eyes it'd go against all this to make an official warband of all mixed legions, but don't let that stop you. Just need a convincing enough reason/cult philosophy behind why they're all working together

You will/will have to learn to put the models together its fine. Painting is waaaaaaay more work than building.

Invest in the basic equipment. Clippers. Hobby Knife. Primer. Some brushes.

If we were talking a few years ago I would have far more recommendations on "good deals" for a budget. But GW has cranked up prices so much and enshittified its discount boxes to the point that it almost isn't worth worrying about them. The deals sort of aren't good enough to chase. My honest advice is buy a regular, single unit box of literally whatever you like the look of. Buy nothing else. Build them, get some paints, paint them.

This takes longer than you expect, and you're not blowing money on a whole combat patrol or battleforce off the bat. By the time they're finished, it will have taken long enough that there's good odds you're about ready/able to buy another box and start building an army one unit at a time. If you end up with a full army yeah it will have been pretty expensive but that can be over a very long time.

I guess a big exception is that if you're starting space marines or orks there are some okay starter sets/launch boxes for marine and/or Orks, so maybe look at those. Also sometimes Horus Heresy kits are cheaper per model for stuff you can easily use for equivilents units in 40K
