In whatever system you want. what would you do?
>>98909888You first, parasite
No statblock in mind but I'd make a different variant for a bunch of different metals. The real ones only use iron but a mithril/adamantine/whatever variant might be cool.
>>98909930It's sulfides of iron rather than metallic, and most of the structure is shell-related proteins that are apparently more durable in the absence of them (one of the populations lacks it and ends up a more conventional white color). General assumption seems to be that it's produced by the sulfur-reducing microbes of the hydrothermal vent environment then expelled to deposit externally, so you'd need an environment with the fantasy metals' source material dissolved similarly to the iron source and either work with the resultant analogue minerals or add something that refines the sulfides into reasonably pure metal.

>>98910479Mate I appreciate the deep dive on the real scaly foot snail and the sulfide chemistry but this is fantasy. I’m not trying to build a scientifically accurate hydrothermal vent organism with substitute metals. I just want a cool steel snail that looks like it crawled out of a forge or a ruined manufactorum. Heavy plated shell, industrial as hell, a bit grim and wrong. That’s it. The real world biology is interesting but I’m not chained to it.
>>98909888Thinking DnD 5e, and if it's just a creature rather than a playable race, I'd say something like>Small humanoid, Neutral>STR: 14 ; DEX: 8 ; CON: 20 ; WIS: 12 ; INT: 10 ; CHR: 8>AC: 15 (20 if hiding in shell)>initiative: -1>speed 20 ft, climb 20ft,>HP: 19 (2d8+10)>resistances: Fire ; vulnerabilities: lightning>senses:tremor sense 20ft, dark vision 30 ft>traits: take cover. Increases AC by CON mod. cannot move. Can breathe underwater.>actions: claws: melee attack roll, +4, 1d4+2, bite: melee attack roll, +3, 1d4+2, take cover.>CR: idk lolLooking at it seems to be shy and non-confrontational, so I tried to make her not be very combative.I didn't put swim since I don't think they can actually swim, unlike some other sea snails. The strength is relatively high for a small shy creature, but my logic is that I imagine it needs to be moderately strong to carry its own weight.
>>98910479Yeah but does any of that apply to an anthro whose body plan and design isn't adapted to deep crushing pressure and living by hydrothermal vents?
>>98909912Newfags like you deserve the rope.
>>98909888I think I have a new fetish.

>>98910865after theorycrafting for pf1e i leaned zif along with begging the dm for homebrew shamman stuff. particularly fire deep one archetype. favored class to nab metal/shell spells would be nice too. the real problem is a lack of extensive rules for shells. you kind of need to kow tow to the dm just to get something worth using but also simultaneously doesn't do literally nothing when not turtling.
>>98909888huh, funnily enough I do have a stat block for an alternative flail snail based on them iron plated snails which i've named the "metal slug"not gonna post it, tho. Make up yer own stats, OP
