Walk into almost any store anywhere and you're bound to find Hot Wheels and Matchbox for less than $2 a car. A lot of collectors stick there and are perfectly content, but plenty others eventually start creeping into specialty collector brands like Mini GT.

This Tuk Tuk is a 2024 but only appeared at my store recently. Not too bad getting releases late, though, it helps them dodge the scalper hype when they were first announced.
I've never watched Motortrend or Roadkill, but I picked up the Rotsun a while back as my first ever Premium because I both like the 240Z and the Mad Max-ish styling caught my eye. It's still the only one I have so far but I can definitely see the appeal compared to mainlines.

Sadly Hot Wheels 70s Challnegers and 70s Barracudas castings are very bad compared to other muscles. They never had luck with these.
Got myself a Kafer Racer. This is one of the few castings I wouldn't mind owning in multiple colors, but this deep metallic red is going to be hard to beat. It really catches the eye in sunlight.

>>11542772Is it a paint bubble? I guess what I would try to flatten it is lay a damp paper towel over that side of the car and then roll the side of a pencil or a marble back and forth over the bump. Just do it slowly and carefully, start with low pressure first, check the bump after passes and gradually increase pressure if theres no flattening. If the bubble gets agitated too much it could crack off and leave a bare spot. If that happened I'd probably have to get some touch-up paints, mix to color match, fill the spot and hope it looks better than before.The car honestly looks really nice as it is. Its real unfortunate but no matter what brand, all diecasts tend to have some paint/decal deformations. Heck, my favorite HW car has misaligned tailights. In some cases, the best way to fix imperfections is to believe it was actually good enough.

The Mod-Rodded Twin Mill body itself looks cool, but I think it would have been more tasteful to have twin Mod Rod engines. Speaking of the Mod Rod, it looks like its coming back with a weathered look next year in this Vintage Club Silver Series.

The Japanese Corolla Levin had a different front-end with fixed headlights. The US Corolla used the Trueno front-end, but with larger bumpers to meet pedestrian safety requirements. The cast has the original bumpers and it's right-hand drive. It's a silly thing to fret about but this Neon Speeder car even has the Trueno badge detailed in the front bumper.

Less a diecast question more a general car question. I was looking at Pop Race and I saw this model that had a racing livery on it. One of the sides is mirrored, including text. Anybody ever regret passing up on a car?I saw the red Max Steel a long while back and thought the paint job and white walls were perfect, but was put off by the flat-6 engine. It's an engine type I associate with Porsches and the Tucker Torpedo, so it seemed historically inaccurate for a 20s-30s race car.I was lucky to dig these 2 out of a bin today, and while I'm happy to finally feel the Steel, the red one looked so much more refined.

That being said, I want to see these with more ornate designs. Low-Rider type pinstripe patterns or something like the Day of the Dead celebration cars. Dare I say, even an itasha design like this year's Kia EV6.And, yes, totally agree about art cars. I see too many good castings and paint wasted on ugly geometric patterns and those horrendous colored wheels.

I use a sharp boxcutter to cut the outermost (not all the way through) edges in between the plastic and cardboard of only the sides and bottom of the plastic case. The top will not be cut and will stay attached. After the edges have been cut all the way around, find an area close to one of the corners to 'pierce' the tip of the razor blade through the printing on the inside of the case. Only a small opening needs to be made, enough for a pick (toothpick can work) to slide into. Then push/roll the pick towards the corner with the tip facing that direction. This pries the plastic off while preventing it from pulling up excess printing on the inside. Do this on the rest of the sides until the case can swing up to let the car out. The opened case can be glued back shut with an invisibe gluestick. It doesn't leave the case looking 100% unopened, especially if theres colored printing near the case borders. The 'pierce' part is the hardest part to do with minimal damage, so it takes practice to master this technique.
