Modern minifigs have way too much detail they look comically bad, minifigs were way better with simple faces and before arm printing was a thing. I have been to a very disturbing number of homes/apartments where a LEGO Star destroyer or Harry Potter set is being displayed. So sad that the quaint children’s toy themes like Castle, Pirate, and even things like Aquazone have morphed into this shit now. Seems like kids don’t even want legos anymore.

I've actually been enjoying the recent midi-scale sets for this exact reason. They give you good parts to make your own cruisers and what-not out of, and even on their own they're perfect for playing out space or naval battles.

They are a symptom of the "now'ness and fear of failure of modern people. Building Legos can be done almost instantly. You just follow the instructions.
