When do you guys think that Tokyo Otaku Mods and other online retailers will resume shipments to the U.S. As it currently stands we are around 2 weeks in and the current administration has made no effort whatsoever to reverse the ending of De Minimis. Because of this, shipping services like Japan Post have halted all shipments above $100 but below $800 to the United States.

Have you guys pre-ordered anything that is currently in limbo because of this situation? When do you think shipments will resume?
>>
>>11557892
I hate the wording "end of". Because I just keep thinking the negative part of it is over. Also this happened to me
>>
>>11557898
Don't care about tariffs anymore. Just want stuff to start shipping again.
>>
>>11557944
Fucking if only.
>>
>>11557892
The problem is they're waiting for a stabilizing point, like the rest of us.
>>
>>11557892
I had Figma Zelda on order at Amiami but I've heard nothing and I'm pretty sure she's in stock. So they're ghosting me.

What's the matter, dont want the usaid psyop spamming the board?
>>11558098
Sometimes amiami is just slow as fucking shit for notification.
>>
>>11558098
They've been slow about contacting people lately, it's taken me like a week to get a payment request for stuff sometimes. Although, I'm not sure what they're doing for US customers yet. I haven't had any pre-orders hit since this whole thing has started. Nin-Nin got one of my orders in but it's just On Hold for now.

Yeah, nah, get fucked retard. Brain dead morons ruined my hobby by voting for a fucking dementia ridden baboon with spray on tan, and now you're going to hear about it until this shit is reversed or until the entire hobby dies.

>>11558098
I had a shipment I paid for before de minimis ended and they said they'd send an email for updated shipping instructions but I haven't gotten anything yet. I'm wondering what the damage is going to be and if I'm going to have to basically cancel all my orders.

I feel like this has to happen often

I honestly think this whole tariff situation has been one of the biggest modern day gaslighting mail issues in recent memory. It was "pitched" as bringing back American jobs (lol) and making other countries" pay their fair share", but in reality it has basically turned our USPS system into an European Union style import tax.
>>
>>11560709
No, we should copy brazil, because then we have more sega genesises and ps2i

>>11557896
have your shipping be refunded as store credit only is fucking highway robbery, anon
I'm sure you did something stupid like pay via paypal or some other nonsense, but if you actually have a real credit card and not some garbage like Chime or Pay Pal visa, you should insist on doing a dispute to them and claw all your cash back.

>>11557892
>>11558001
De Minimis is a different issue from the current idiot trade export BS going on with tariffs and has nothing to do with congress or the courts. It's not going to go "back" or be "reverse[d]" - even Biden was planning to do away with it - at least at the $800 amount.

The one stupid, like almost all other shit they are doing, that the current idiots did was doing it without any planning or support, which is why everyone else just said 'fuck you' get your cheap shit from elsewhere. As this anon wrote, if they had calculated reasonable >>11559158
>percentage tax on every order like the rest of the world
and given the rest of the planet reasonable notice, you only would have noticed that shit was HIGHER PRICED before you even ordered something and y'all wouldn't be stressing about your plastic crap from China/Japan, etc.

The best outcome is that a new administration, three years from now, will put back a small De Minimis, like $100, but since most of you are buying collectibles that are over that, it won't help you, and since tariff will continue to jump around until someone who has never admitted he was wrong in 80 years admits they aren't working, which means never, y'all are stuck with price increases until 2029, at the earliest.

Pretty much. This is proven to be considered a "little person problem" by the people at the top and thus not worth noticing or correcting.
>>
>>11564182
I feel like even if the supreme court rules tariffs illegal and they are reversed, they will forget about reinstating de minimis
>>
>>11564203
de minimis is a totally different thing that keeps products under $X from being subject to tariffs, so yes that would not be under the purview of the tariff suits which are about said tariffs themselves.

The only question then is...if the tariff suit was won and the rate goes to 0 on China then...what tariff would de minimis be saving you from even if it did exist?
>>
>>11564217
Tariffs wouldn't go to zero. Even before Trump there was some small tariff percentage on China and other countries
>>
>>11564552
Well it'd be better than the current state of affairs
>>
>>11557896
What's even worse is HLJ has now made it harder for people to cancel stuff and changed their PW into a virtual prison until you cough up the cash.
>>
>>11564566
They are getting their revenge for all the people who abused their kindness before by leaving like tons of items in the PW forever and refusing to ship. Before collectors had the power, now retailers do

I only have a January preorder with Genki. I’m hoping things improve by then. I haven't looked at how much it is but I imagine it’ll probably be a similar rape to the DHL screenshot that anon posted. I just want Japan Post to come back
>>
>>11565667
Yeah, I have one for December and one that's for this month, I will probably eat the one for this month so I don't have to deal with it later. I already have one item on hold from Nin Nin, and an item or two coming in this month to Amiami.

Fed ex is 15%+400 yen handling fee. We fine.
>>
>>11565678
Well FedEx is still kinda expensive normally but if it comes out cheaper than bbts I guess it's okay
>>
>>11565929
Yeah, i order it bulk but its still slightly cheaper than domestic. Dhl is absolute kikery now though, 30%+ whatever handling fees they want.
>>
>>11565678
How are they doing that when the tariff on Chinese goods is 30-55%?
>>
>>11565970
by declaring everything as made in japan like they've literally always done. you thought they'd suddenly start being honest about filling out paperwork just because of trump?
fedex may be more lax than dhl, or hlj is being cautious
>>
Remember to cancel any Hobby Genki orders you have, the absolute retards have been pushing shit through and sent me some threatening email about charging me for return shipping and "handling fees" if it gets sent back. Unfortunately I want the Toga revo so little that I'd rather just take the pennies I'll end up getting back for getting it returned lol
>>
Anyone in the US receive something from AliExpress recently? Did you have to pay any fees on delivery?
>>
>>11566340
I got the Black Hole Toys Majin Vegeta in about a week ago. No fees beyond the "import charges included" I paid when ordering. Didn't amount to much more than sales tax. Just make sure the shipping method isn't USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc. You shouldn't get a fee on delivery with Aliexpress standard shipping or Yunexpress premium shipping.
>>
>>11565972
If a package gets inspected that would be a big issue for them given the boxes are labeled made in China
>>
Honestly with Americans unable to buy anything it's been a lot easier for HLJ to fill in on those Bandai Model preorders making it way easier to actually get what's ordered.
>>
>>11566542
big if, considering how understaffed usps is that they decided to outsource their entire tariff collection; they don't have staff to open shit

>>
>>11567349
Not necessarily; Lutnik (and likely trump through him) has invested in refunds for the tariffs. That should tell you a lot about the administration’s confidence in their legality. At the very least it’s up in the air enough that they are hedging their bets against the possibility of them being declared unconstitutional.
>>
Is there a idiot's guide to tariffs anywhere that explains which countries have what rates or other customs fees?

It was hard enough to keep track of before but now there's also the duty rates or whatever which is a flat sum for specific countries now that de minimis is gone, or something?

So far what I can tell you:

>shit from China does not have tariffs on it. China ships so much shit to the US in huge packages and then someone (probably indians) breaks it down and repackages it for individuals.
I've gotten two orders from Aliexpress and some stuff from Temu that have had no additional fees added to them. I have another order coming from Superbuy but I don't know yet if that will have any extra fees.

>Japan is different for each retailer
I know I ordered something from Plaza Japan (Around $60 total) and the fee was $33 and some change from UPS. What happened is that they shipped it via Japan Post in Japan, who then passed it along to UPS here in the US. Essentially I wound up paying the shipping twice for the same item.

I have another package inbound from Japan from another site right now; i had originally paid the fee for Japan Post, but upgraded to Fedex for another $10. I have no idea if i'm going to have to pay extra when it gets here, or if since it was shipped Fedex International I'm good or not.
>>
>>11583026
I think most Chinese sellers started baking the fees into the price, at least as far as eBay sellers are concerned.
