Are toy guns still a thing? And no, I don't mean nerf guns, I mean the boomer shit that fired little rubber pellets and ejected shells and all that. I could see it being the sort of thing that isn't completely dead but is nowadays very niche and only made by small high quality companies.

I recently found a Japanese website chronicling old toy guns and their relation to the whole airsoft boom, good read if you're into this kind of thing

Yeah, they still are, I am fairly sure of it. There are also 2mm pinfire (comparable to 2.2mm Kolibri) guns which technically are sold as novelties/toys.

I mean those are literal firearms and still have enough muzzle velocity to penetrate skin so I wouldn't really consider those "toys" in this context

ATF says they don't, take that as you will.

I think the demgraphic that would collect toy replicas of firearms would just collect airsoft at this point. Otherwise, there are plenty of Chinese toy companies selling gel ball and foam blasters modeled on real firearms. Some have shell ejecting gimmicks. Me? I just wish they would bring back the Zebra II.
