There’s a missing link soundwave?

yes the chinese unicron leaker confirmed it

They announced they're working on a decepticon, and a reliable leaker this week claimed it was soundwave, which is the obvious choice as it requires the least work

Finally clean up enough space to take this out of the storage to display it

I don't get it

Technically speaking this thing is a lot more impressive than brawl and Bonecrusher

But for some reasons everything is just loose

Everything tabs in, but nothing locks
The forearm side panels just like stay there it dont hold on to anything the second you touch it you just come right off

And the worst thing is about the hip
The ratchet barely work and just kind of flopped all over the place because the spring is too weak to hold the upper body so every time you do a slightly wide post the legs just split

Search around forums and look over some review videos, it seems to be somewhat wide spread problem but all of them have it. I think it is a production batch thing.

The hip can be fixed but some modding is needed, but I am already playing almost like $150 why do you need to do mods on the thing? It should work right out of the box

Kind of disappointed its not Megatron, but yeah, Soundwave makes sense since the original toy was already pretty posable, they just need to add some knee joints. Will they add some of the cassettes as well, maybe Buzzsaw?

>Sucks to be you

Oh well

I guess because he has to transform into a helicopter, blackout is probably the most compromised of the non-main three baddie decepticon
Like putting the RNG paint jobs asides, everything works on Brawl and Bonecrusher. Pieces actually secure to proper locations. Where as Blackout is very fiddly. The old SS is that like too.
Like how deep can a tab hole go when it is also part of thin fuselage wall? The 2 chain guns don't even tab well because the shallow dip. And the plate on the bottom of the feet just slide with nothing to secure them beside the moving heels and toes.

Anyway, not much I can do for most of the tabbing issues. I am going usr a lot of yamada grip.
I have "varished" the hip joints so at least the figures holding right now. I have order some 3 mm washers I think I'm going to do that mod job.

If you're asking why he doesn't have his traditional long beard etc, that's because this figure is based on a G1 episode set in the past, I think when he first rebuilt Orion into Optimus. Alpha Trion had a different design there to make him look younger.

Pretty happy with SS86 Galvatron's look after combining the DNA Design upgrade kit and ABS Casting head. Always loved his design, too bad he ends up being a downgrade from Megatron in every conceivable way after his first appearance.

That metallic purple is gorgeous but I wish his cannon was still clear orange. The opaque isn't bad, I just prefer the more toyetic "lava lamp" style.
I'm pretty satisfied with the Legacy release, but I won't lie if I didn't have him it'd be a tough choice between him and the SS86 deco.
Also man, Galvatron is such a good figure. Probably one of the better Voyager-sized Leaders IMO. I might even rank him ahead of Shockwave, and I LOVE Shockwave- Galvatron's base figure engineering justifies the price tag more, whilst Shockwave definitely feels more like a Voyager packed with extra goodies. Though to be fair on Greenpeace's Worst Nightmare the extra stuff is pretty cool, especially for the Neue Ziel/Mecha-Shiva mode. Much better than Blitzwing's fumbled power fists or the gimped minifigs that came with the Dinobots, or whatever they hell they put with Springer. I do think Astrotrain's tender was kinda cool though, still sorta want that guy. If the SS86 one sucks I might track him down.
>>
>>11576987
How the hell are they still fucking up the cassettes so badly? All they have to do is transform into plastic slabs. Laserbeak/Buzzsaw looks like he had his head squashed with an anvil and I don't think it has any downward neck articulation. The siege and earthrise figure didn't have these problems so what gives? How are figures half the size of chug cassettes ending up with better bot modes with no partsforming as well?
>>
>>11577325
They just don't give a fuck anymore.
>>
>>11577325
I was going to say tooners demanding impossible standards of cartoon accuracy at the expense of actually good design but that MS Cassette looks so much better than the SS86 one it's not funny, and that design at CHUG scale would be eminently doable at retail budget. Only thing Hasbro has over those is the vent slats and guns on the backpack. There's actually no excuse for that condor mold- like, he looks fine, but given the Siege one doesn't partsform, has a better head and costs less, even if it is based on the toy, and the MS one doesn't partsform and is HALF THE SIZE? Yeah that's crap.
Hell, the now very old MP condor mold still holds up pretty nicely, and the sole current CHUG tape I have (Eject) is pretty aight for what he is. When did HasTak forget how to make cassettes?
>>
>>11577325
worst part of this is the 86 one is on a leader budget yet still looks objectively worse than the siege mold. Even with the partsforming intakes/guns it somehow ends up with a completely worse bird mode. Im also baffled how badly they screwed up the head.

Are you kidding me? He's way more interesting as a raving lunatic that the Decepticons only follow because they fear him (and no one else will lead them). He's the logical conclusion for S1/S2 Megatron. Plus having his telepathic connection to a vile god severed and subsequently tossed into a "plasma bath" by the Autobot twink. Wouldn't you go crazy?

NTA but I think S3 Galvatron would be more fondly remembered if he wasn't stuck in S3 (with its shoddy animation even by G1 standards and bungled execution of interesting concepts, like the Quintesson origin story). Galvatron as an unhinged tyrant who leads by terror rather than example? Great idea. What we actually got was an incompetent moron who only earned the respect of his troops because his troops were bumbling cowards. Not helped by his voice either; Frank Welker is an amazing actor and a swell guy, but his Galvatron voice was a massive downgrade, not just from Leonard Nimoy but from Megatron. Sounded like Skeletor with Downs. Ironically, say what you will about the Bayverse but I thought the voice he got to do for AOE Galvatron and TLK Megatron was pretty ace, and that voice but with a tiny bit of vocoder processing would have not only been perfect for Galvatron but would have been closer to Leonard Nimoy's performance.
To be honest though, the biggest problem is that for the most part, G1 peaked at S1 and the movie. S2 was fun but in a so-bad-it's-good way outside of a select few episodes and S3 is wasted potential: the series. And The Rebirth is unwatchable dross.

I agree with this. I still think Galvatron as Skeletor's retarded brother works, but as you said, it only works because everyone else is somehow dumber than he is. The S3 voice is excellent for laughs, not so much for terror.

Not really a fan, Superlink did that much better where Galvatron went insane with power and Unicron living rent free inside his head. Reforming his soldiers and making them unhinged was fun.

S3 Galvy felt like old man that forgot his meds (I had displeasure of knowing one like that).

>>11577344
True, Welker did a poor job in S3. Funny enough I think Bay quote about him sounding silly made him change his voice for TFP and AoE/TLK.

Still I like Burton and Weaving voices a lot more. Kaye also could work with proper script (UT had such a shitty dub except Megs and Prime)
>>

>Still I like Burton and Weaving voices a lot more. Kaye also could work with proper script (UT had such a shitty dub except Megs and Prime)
Burton is up there as my all time favourite Megatron- though I'm NGL Fred Tatascoire is neck and neck with him. The guy sounded genuinely terrifying in the High Moon games. Weaving did a great voice, a shame he didn't care about the role and was apparently a bit of a cock to work with.
Kaye is a superb Megatron but I don't entirely count him because his best Megatron is technically not a "real" Megatron- he's a particularly charismatic guy from the same timeline who named himself after G1 Megatron because it commanded fear and respect (IIRC he isn't even a particular worshipper of the original, so much as he respects him as a symbol more than an individual). I will say that for all the dreadful voice direction, his Armada Megatron was very entertaining- had a slightly more smug/jovial quality than BW despite being basically the same voice.
Daniel Riordan is also disqualified as Megatron is just the dub name for Gigatron (not even weebing, ACKCHUALLYing or continuity nerding there, I just think Gigatron is a great name for that design and I view him as a separate guy), though his performance was just "OK". Certainly not his best evil dragon voice (though now I want a SG Gigatron voiced by Charles Martinet).
If I could get anyone who hasn't voiced him before to, well, voice him, I'd pick John Avner. He was Void in Berserk and Pasdar in the tragically short-lived GaoGaiGar dub (which, whilst not as good as the Japanese, was shockingly competent). Guy knows how to voice villains. I would say Tony Jay (AKA Megabyte, Frollo and the outer horror thing from that Legacy of Kain series I haven't played) but sadly he's no longer with us.

BW Megatron is basically a dude who decided to start calling himself Hitler 2 after reading Mein Kampf.

Big agree with this though, brigadier general Megatron and Starscream are the only.good parts of Armada.

And I feel that Micron Legend managed to capture him and his voice a bit better. Armada Starscream tried too much to copy g1 screetch.
>>
>>11577377
For real. Helps his VA was pretty good. I preferred Cybertron Starscream though; same voice actor but far better direction (Cybertron's dub in general was pretty aight) and as much as I like Armada Starscream, I think the concept worked much better in the original Japanese, whereas Cybertron Starscream worked great in both languages. But I honestly love that Starscream in general; G1's "I'm the leader! Megatron has fallen! He has a slight cough!" is hilarious but Cybertron's "I'm in charge now, Megatron has fallen because I kicked his arse!" was peak. But then I loved how Cybertron went full super robot nonsense, and Starscream only failing to overthrow Megatron because Megatron was just that fucking powerful was really cool.
I dunno, I have a lot of nostalgia for Cybertron. It managed to have the goofiness and fun I like in Transformers whilst still having actual stakes and being goddamn raw at times.
I think my ideal take on Starscream (as in, doing something new with him) would be having his betrayal come as a bit of a surprise; he starts out as a standard "dragon" but you slowly see hints he's not satisfied with how Megatron is running things, until eventually we get the climax where he suddenly and violently betrays Megatron (think a more villainous version of Satsuki and Ragyo but with less molestation). Whether he succeeds in deposing Megatron or if he gets his arse kicked and has to run off to lick his wounds, I think it'd be pretty cool.
>>
>>11577344
I get why Season 3 is hated, but it's the only G1 season I can stand to really watch because it at least feels like it's trying to do something instead of running through disconnected plots. It's the only one that feels close to a post BTAS animated show.
>>
>>11577415
That's fair, I suppose I prefer S1 because it feels like a well-executed goofy 80s cartoon rather than a poorly-executed 90s one. I enjoy silly episodic series when they're done well; I admire S3 for trying to shift to something more narrative-driven, I just don't think it succeeded particularly well.
That said, the AKOM animation did not help one bit. I think if it had been as well-drawn as the better bits of S1 (which whilst hardly gorgeous, did look nice at times) it'd be much better remembered.

I’ve always been there outlier that like the third season the most of G1. I know it has its hilariously badly animated episodes, but the ones that were done well made up for that and also I think for an 80s cartoon it stood out more. The first season is the most consistent given that. Toei started with a smaller season. The second season is what I like to call the standard 80s cartoon plot episodes and even then there’s ones in the second that I still love like “Key to vector sigma” and “Cosmic Rust”.
>>
>>11577481
Also, I just realized something. The backlash toward the 1986 movie must’ve been really fast because look at the turnaround from August 1986 to when Optimus Prime returned in February in 1987.
>>
>>11577344
>>11577415
One thing I really loved about post movie Galvatron is how fast he 180'd when Optimus came back. All the craziness and insanity gone instantly.
>>
>>11577551
Megatron crawled his way back into Galvatron's brain circuit from pure unadulterated hatred of Optimus

literally turned Galvatron sane just for the love of being a hater.

>>11577476
something about this Megatron looks naked. I think it's the white thighs.
Also, is this the first core class release post legacy? Not counting micromaster hot rod who was basically just an upscaled micromaster instead of the core class he shared a size with.
>>
>>11577556
>something about this Megatron looks naked.
It's the lack of side-skirts and his black robo-underwear being too thin
>>
>>11577556
More along the lines of Megatrons respect for Optimus returned his sanity. They were allies during the hate plague, Galvatron instantly sided with Optimus the second he saw him.
>>
>>11577561
Both unavoidable, though - that's a repaint of the Kingdom Core Megatron mold.
>>
>>11577398
Cybertron was also peak. Energon is really the only weak link in the UT, and that solely lies at the feet off the dogshit cartoon. The toys are actually pretty cool, probably better than half of the Armada stuff.
I would agree with that ideal Starscream. It would also explain why Megatron cuts him so much slack and doesn't just fucking kill him the first time he attempts to usurp Megatron (like Animated Megatron did). His most powerful and (initially) loyal lackey becomes his greatest foe, but Starscream is too much of a kingmaker to outright destroy. He must be returned to the fold.
I think Skybound sort of attempted to do something like this but honestly it's one of the weaker parts of DWJ's run. Nothing seems particularly special about Starscream that he couldn't just do with Soundwave.

Super Link was great, it's really only the fault of one of the worst dubs I've ever seen, +leaving off a few plotthreads likely to be continued in Galaxy Force, not knowing that GF was going to be a reboot thanks to being by another studio. The rest honestly just falls to TF fans lacking the ability for media analysis beyond a 5-y/o's comprehension.
I think there's plenty to love about SL, it goes in interesting places and has very good character work. Sure it had a lotta filler, but no more than Micron Legend did, and certainly less than Galaxy Force's stock footage abuse lawl.

Yes. The rachet teeth grind against one of the inner walls inside the shoulderpads, you need to remove the screws on the back of the shoulderpads to separate both halves, check wich wall is the one that causes the problem and cut enough plastic so the ratchets don't rub against it.

I know about this because some anon here explained it, and immediately did the fix on my copy when I got it a year ago. There's no info anywhere else because people barely play with their titans and this one is also the worst selling one.

I have some pics that other anon who found the problem posted here and one of my own fix, but I'm not in my computer right now. Nonetheless it's pretty easy to disassemble and find the problem, it's just removing three or four screws and checking each half of the shoulderpad by placing it against the shoulder ratchets on the body and moving them to see if the ratchet teeth are bumping against one of the inner structural walls. Just cut enough plastic there so the shoulder can spin freely and that's it.

I've only got the Devastation two-pack version of the mold, but yeah, the tabs on top of the pylons are supposed to clip into the hood, but the tabs are just barely too short by about a millimeter or two, so it's really hard to get them to stay snapped into place. Then once they're finally tabbed in, it feels like if you breathe on it wrong, it'll pop right back out.

It seems like I'm constantly finding new TF figures where tabs are too small to stay secured in place, leaving either the robot or vehicle mode unable to stay properly snapped together. Personally, I blame Hasbro becoming too reliant on using CADs to design their toys. A computer might think that a tab entering a half an atom's width deep into a slot will be enough to stay in place, but in the real world with physical objects, that just doesn't work.

On the one hand, I think that up sizing the headmasters just a little bit to add ball jointed separate legs would be a good idea, but on the other hand, I think that killing backwards compatibility with the titan master ecosystem would be kinda shitty.

It blows siege so far out of the water it's honestly crazy how people were saying siege was the best Megatron we'd ever get in generations. The question is.... what now? I highly, HIGHLY doubt 86 Megatron will ever be topped in generations. Like, ever. I think 86 Optimus has some room for improvement, but Megatron is.. just.. perfect. I honestly don't know where Hasbro will go from here. I mean, they'll probably reissue 86 Optimus and Megatron twenty more times as they finish the G1 cartoon cast again.. and.. then what? Most of the modern generations versions of characters are about the perfect representation of that character in generations scale. AOTP is doing the primes, the next line is probably combiner wars 3 (AOTP is basically CW 2) with probably a new defensor and maybe the technobots or abominus.. where does Hasbro go from here?

I typically use Krylon Fusion paints and sub in whatever else I can find for colors they don't cover. Been using Tamiya sprays lately which are pretty nice too. I bought SG Bumblebee just to give his fists to regular Goldbug and a stroke of genius gave me the idea to make the leftover into Nightracer. Kind of matches the last club version of her. I chose to ignore the original version because it only had yellow on it because it was a literal Bumblebee repaint without the gold paint and not because they wanted it as part of her colors so I matched the newer version.

Invincible was pretty successful. Enough that I saw several kids get giddy when the found the trades and omnibus at a bookstore recently. You can always aim stuff at teenagers, and younger kids will think it's cool.
Just make a cartoon that takes itself slightly above semi-serious, you can even get away with shitty animation as long as it kicks in when the fight scene starts, and give the kids the violence they want, maybe you can even get away with it since they're all robots. But with less female on male rape.

I fucking would. BUT ONLY IF.. there's playsets. I mean, come on. It would be awesome. Hasbro brings back cyberverse 2010 as a cross-factional singularity or something... wait, I've got a plot in mind.

Unicron corrupts micronus prime in one universe and forces him to downscale all the residents of the universe to micro sizes in order to partake in galactic championships for his entertainment, eventually using his powers to bring in other universe characters.. 14 dollar two packs of characters with accessories, larger characters with spring loaded gimmicks, and all of these would have scannable emblems like rid2015 (contained in the packaging and not stickered on the figure) to unlock stuff in a mobile/console/PC cross platform multiplayer generic fps game or whatever. Boom, next 8 years of the franchise right there if hasbro doesn't fuck it up. Also spring loaded playsets.

Only the third one really looks like what he's supposed to look like. The Hasbro ones are too serious a dry for a kid friendly character and Achai's mouth is way off. I'm normally with you on height extenders, but these work for me. The proportions of this mold's robot mode always looked off to me. The arms are just a little too long for the rest of the body. The height extenders on the DNA kit can look a little goofy at certain angles, but I think they result in an overall visual improvement. The head is great though, highly recommended for anyone that wants a more screen accurate look for him.

They like it because it's the only thing we got and to defend this, they cope with him being too small by saying "HE"S SUPPOSED TO BE SMALL REEEEEEEEEEE" because they imagine what he actually is in their heads.

A select few may like him being smaller because he's a rat, aside from the fiction but that's a small percentage of people. In reference to your question.

because they cheated his size on the show a bit.
Yeah, he looks to be about 15% bigger here, which honestly is not nearly as bad as I worried it'd be (though the angle cheats a bit) Rhinox actually looks too small, which is interesting. This is absolutely 'close enough' with the asterisk that they obviously matched robot modes first. Beast Wars Optimus Prime was a lot bigger than G1 cartoon Optimus Prime. It isn't wrong since they are different stories.
>>
>>11578680
There's bigger & there's as big as an Evangelion lol

Funny that there's the BWNeo cast here, since these guys we got their heights in meters & in no way it works, it makes OP what, about 20 meters for no reason, what about how Transmetal Optimus took in his hands the matrix or spark of OP, with this scale, I'll be a miracle if he could hold both handles
>>
>>11578620
>Beast Wars bots are human sized.
not optimal optimus though.
He was fuckhuge.
Hell, transmetal Primal was nearly knee high to g1 prime.
Rattrap is 5' and G1 Optimus is usually around 20 ft. In Beast Wars they DO make him bigger for effect in a couple scenes.
But that means this ENTIRE chart is off, and sure enough the guy who made it got raked over the coals.
First, because Optimus Primal showed up in the anime beast wars once, he's basing all the scale on that, scaling the entire cast DOWN to Primal size, instead of thinking "maybe they scaled this one guy up for this"

the guy also STARTED his scale by using cheetor's alt mode and basing everything off that.
So Cheetor is 5 ft tall in his world, rattrap under 4. The entire beast wars lineup is micro.
and he used a TERRIBLE frame with optimus' hand closer to the camera to decide beast wars Optimus Prime was actually 100 ft tall.

It's a TERRIBLE scale

Having the Vehicles make up the Limb itself is better

>>11578335
He could have used some touches but he honestly is great and aged fine

>>11578452
Skeleton Frame is literally %80 of him nearly
You can make his combined form with only 2 limb bots and still have it visually %90+ Superion
Clunky feeling
Honestly hard to get good poses with him because range just feels bad
At least you can disconnect the waist and use the back hinge connector to hold it for ab crunch poses
Combiner arms just don't feel good
I genuinely hate the "Break a guy in half and just kinda slap him on the limb"
It doesn't really change anything at all if you have one on there or not
Quite honestly if you buy the main Commander then hey there you go. You have the Combiner basically
He pops off at the waist a lot
The Antenna parts on the Superion Head also pop off constantly if you look at them funny
His weapon is laughable
Genuinely
The "Base Mode" is a complete cope of "We gotta make the Frame not look like a Frame. Turn it into SOMETHING"
At least Motormaster it's clearly a Trailer and can at least do that right
Silverbolts wrists are somehow just as bad if not worse than CW/UW Silverbolts
Silverbolt himself feels really underwhelming too
I find minimal desire to really mess with him
Yet despite also not feeling too good on them individually I find myself messing with the SS86 Constructicons a lot more

Feels like a rant. Sorry
I'm just very disappointed in him because a laundry list of things

If you have both teams+Vortex, can you do some goofy mix and match of parts? Maybe even with the frames not being entirely pure?

Vortex is already, like, 60% shared engineering with slingshot. The legs transform literally the exact same way, and the arms are similar in how they need to shift upwards on an in-torso shoulder joint. The heads are also both landing gear. Blast off is literally a retool of vortex (its obvious by the backpack and arm kibble)

if you truly believe the first episode with him was fine, then you must accept the second episode is in error, because they shrank him down considerably.

In fairness to Megatron, the Autobots were also retards who spent more time playing basketball and watching soaps than they did trying to capture, kill or even stop him.
It's interesting how much more "grown up" the movie feels even before all the killing and dying starts, just from that first scene on the moon base. Just because the Autobots are now suddenly treating the war like a legit military operation. The vibe is already different before the infamous shuttle scene. I recently rewatched the 86 movie for the first time as an adult, and I noticed a couple of things.
1) There is an action scene of some sort every 5 minutes or less. It's not as obnoxious and gratuitous as Rise of Cobra where your brain just shuts off, but it's not how I remembered it. At least it was all (mostly) good action.
2) So much death, holy shit. If you had just watched any episode of the TV show before you saw this, you wouldn't think it was in the same continuity. And I'm not just talking about the obvious ones in the shuttle and Prime, etc. For example, the whole Quint planet sequence is just casual death after death. All the prisoners die save Hot Rod and Kup, the Quints are implied to be murdered by their Skarkticons, etc. A Sharkticon gets brained for fuck's sake. No wonder so many fans turned writers make their Transformers stuff killathons. And the craziest part is that so many Transformers act like this is business as usual. Starscream gets fucking disintegrated? The Decepticons just stand around like "okay". The shuttle got hijacked by Decepticons? No time to mourn the dead, let's just start fighting fuck it.

There's also a super cheap upgrade set for him that has been in stock for the longest time

Truck mode turns into dogshit instead of kino and it doesn't really fix the arm kibble problem at all.

A bunch of bots get smelted inside Unicron, with only Jazz Bumblebee and Cliffjumper (and Spike) making it to safety. I don't know if they're meant to be leftover Lithonians that Unicron just hadn't finished processing yet, or if the Moonbases had more than two guys each on them.

Good post anon, I love talking shop about the movie especially with people coming from a fresh perspective. Yeah, that Sharkitcon that got his face clawed off is one of the more gnarly underrated deaths in the movie.
>I don't know if they're meant to be leftover Lithonians that Unicron just hadn't finished processing yet
They look Cybertronian and not Lithonian. I always figured they were extra generic Autobots that were on the Moonbases.
Some of the worst deaths in the movie too. Their screams are haunting.

This guy came today. Has anyone opened theirs yet?

Didn't get him, but my Seaspray will be here in a few minutes when the mail arrives. I only ever owned the G1 toy of him, so I'm looking forward to this one.

it is true, the nosecone has to rotate inwards to collapse for Robot/Superion torso modes, so the designers cut an indent for the nose to rotate downwards as well on the same pin. Droop snoot Concorde is real

Im sorry you dont know how to tab your toy together properly. Mine has never come apart at the waist unintentionally. Do you realize clips together in 4 places? It’s literally rock solid when you do it right. As for the antenna, no I didnt glue them because Im not a hamhands who knocks them off, I was just trying to help you tighten them up because they are removable. As for the gun I have no idea what you think it was supposed to look like in your imagination but here in reality it looks great

One of the melted bots looks like Beachcomber, at least before he gets dropped in. I also love how the whole movie the Autobots assume that Spike, Bumblebee, Jazz, and Cliffjumper somehow SURVIVED being attacked by a planet. Maybe they were vainly holding onto hope that somebody survives the death trap that is the 86 movie. Hell, even Springer almost bought it in from a Unicron tendril.

seconding the waist bit here, make sure you plug in the back port first, then line up the two tabs and slots on silverbolt's crotch, then click silverbolt's back kibble into place over the back port, and then secure the chestplate. Has never come undone for me.

I will say that superion's ear antennae are prone to popping off when you put him in a backpack or wherever.

I don't think the carbots need to be scaled up.

That and they don't need to be de-greebled either. The dinobots have tons of greebling and detail despite being from the 86 line, even the recent megatron and constructicons too. I don't know why they are just now going for the playskool plastic look for the new seekers and soundwave but at the end of the day they're all geewunn/generations based so they shouldn't look out of place on the same shelf.

Being Beachcomber is suffering.

Loose Shoulder? My Devastator is fine, just a little disappointing in spots

Every single one of them needs the same treatment given to Hot Rod. Not one of them is better than Roddy
