Hello /ctg/, I'm sorry if this is a dumb newfag question, (I'm new to coomer toys,) but I was wondering if anybody could tell me why HyperxBody figures seemed to be so reviled both by you guys and figma general? Outside of them being overpriced, which I agree they are, do they have specific issues like with QC or limited movement? I recently got the Modernia HxB, and have both Red Hood and Snow White on preorder because I just want some Nikkers that aren't scales or nendos. (Don't really care for Alice so I skipped her preorders.) I haven't taken Modernia out of the box yet, so I would like to know if she has any problems I should be wary of. Thank you, and sorry if this has already been discussed before. Again, new to all of this.

Shit that goodsmile has long figured out about joint design is just casually thrown out for a gappy mess of a figure that poses very poorly.The other issue is that even ignoring the jank gap covered bodies, the character is often totally off model with faces getting it the worst. Skin tone is also a weakness for the line with characters often being oddly pale.

Also her hair and face don't look very good and Snail Shell's head is leagues better. And for the price there is not much value in terms of accessories included. >>11577301Bandai's output is absolutely massive and the SHF line (which is more like an over-arching name for a bunch of different mini-lines) is handled by loads of different teams and sculptors, often within the same "series". Some SHFs are a bit mediocre and some are outright crap, usually if they've been handed to a newbie/D-team. Others are absolutely stellar and some of the best 1/12 figures money can buy; the Kamen Rider line (especially these days) is the creme de la creme of 1/12 toys, and with some exceptions the Dragon Ball line is pretty phenomenal- even older releases hold up well on their own merits and they universally LOOK great. That said most of the "duds" seem to be in coomer-adjacent properties for whatever reason.That said, Bandai is one of the better companies for redoing older or less-well-recieved figures and giving them the mother of all glowups. The initial Sailor Moon Figuarts were nice sculpts but had quite dodgy QC; the Anime Colour reissues are not only MUCH more solid and well-made, but they even made some sculpt tweaks (notably the butts- they went from functional but unsightly designs to properly MEATY buttocks that would be Figma-tier if they used soft overlays for the leotard bottoms rather than hard plastic and drop-downs, though as is they can still look great).

The Yami I got from AmiAmi was such pisspoor quality that it screamed bootleg to me. They shipped a replacement figure which was a lot better, so ymmv. Got my Aileen in today, will post some pics later. Very nice, comfy cozy vibes. Everything's good quality, haven't seen any issues with her so far. Bra and shirt require taking off torso and arms to get in and out of. Make sure you roll her shirt all the way up before you plug the torso back into the chest, or it'll get caught and you could easily tear it if you arent careful.Bummed out about my swapping situation. Her faces can go to Muse, but Muse's can't fit on Aileen (which sucks bc I was gonna use Muse's closed eyes face as a sleeping face for her). Aileen can wear Muse's butt, but it is weird looking, thin and short. Muse can't wear Aileen's because it's too thicc and long. Legs are pretty much the same aside from the color difference, I guess.My only other Snail Shell at the moment is Grisa, so kinda bummed I can't swap too much between the human ones. But Muse is a titty monster, so it's not surprising 2 body types aren't very compatible. The face thing is really annoying because they are the same size and shape except for the rectangular key on the back, lol.Oh, and the glasses... just save yourself the trouble and don't mess with them. Maybe cut them out, carefully bend them using some tools, and have her hold them if you dare but making her wear them is awful. You have to use tweezers to position them, they like to teleport away across the room a lot, and they're seriously impossible to get sitting on her face properly. Misassembled joints you can't fix because of rivets, sticky messy paint, muddy molded details and hands so soft the metal weapons just fall out of their hands.I love them I hope they make more. An artist I follow on pixiv has recently commissioned a model shop in HK to make him a 1/12 scale figure of the giant space maggot creature from the movie, Galaxy of Terror. If you’ve never heard of this movie before, it’s become a classic of 80s horror that featured a lot of big people before they became famous. James Cameron worked on designing this maggot and its big scene. In the movie a female astronaut who is afraid of worms gets trapped in a corridor by a giant maggot that climbs on top of her, tears off her spacesuit with its tentacles and rapes her. He was recently inspired by the Sushing bases and had them draw up several designs and scale to work with any of the 1/12 girls or models like 30MS. The people at the shop are having a blast and someone there has connections at a factory and might be able to get it mass produced and sell it. If that happens that will be awesome. He says it will have changeable segments for standing, a moveable head, multiple sets of bendable tentacles and different styles of cocks. It will kind of be like a set piece with some action parts like the Sushing base. The crew might be able to make the female astronaut as a figure to go with it. If it’s successful he’s drawn up designs for an Humanoid From The Deep monster as well and rule out other insects for an articulated raper line. For the Humanoid figure they want to make a pregnant belly and one with a creature popping out from the end inspired by that Snail Shell DLC torso as well. Here’s a pic of one of the most recent updated designs they’ve worked on before sculpting begins.

Companies havent been doing seamless ass on a jointed figure for long. Most of what people have experience with are the fullbody seamless, which is a lot more moving parts and stresses on a single larger piece of silicone. Compared to much less stress and a smaller chunk of silicone, lasts longer.

Together those will run you about $16-20 US.You can sometimes remove white stress marks with your thumb nail by rubbing them with your thumbnail. When you cut a part from the runner, make sure you make the cut a little from the part itself with your nippers, do not try to cut it flush, then after that, make a closer but still not flush cut with the nippers again, and then go in and clean it all up with the modeling knife to shave the last bit of the nub off.
