Inhumanoids
>>11586859They were ok. I think the line flopped because a lot of kids couldn't understand that the figures didn't have tiny heads. You had to pretend the characters were the size of GI Joe figures while in large exo-suits.
>>11586859the line was badAll cool things were the biggest most expensive monsters (tendrill and rib-cage guy)smaller monsters were all the same and stupid lookingMain heroes looked awful - terrible design.Imagine - badass era of toys. All your friends get cool ninjas and heroic soldiers...you get a yellow michelin man
>called inhumanoids>are actualy very clearly humanoid
>>11586971In 1987 the cool kids got a 2-foot Fortress Maximus AND a Space Shuttle Defiant launch complex AND a NES.
>>11586971The line really only needed the monsters. It should have been nothing but ever larger scales of monsters, each with unique themes and gimmicks, pitted against gi joes in robot suits ala exo force. As it stands the earth corp figures feel really tacked on and gay.
>>11586988they needed better "low level affordable monsters" as well.Look at these - it's basically 2 types of mons 1) tree trunk 2) rockwhat is this.. Dungeons and Dragons?and they all the same.you supposed to make a gruesome monster-driven line but...you make a Spoopy Tree and a RockLord with less articulation
>>11587017>Look at these
>>11586859Hasbro actually patented light piping for the Inhumanoids, but let it lapse before 5 years.
I never knew there were good guys in this line. I had the big guy with the chili pepper sticking out of his head, and I'd have him fight Rancor.
>>11586926Yeah it was the “humans” of the Inhumanoids that killed the line. Also needed Sandra Shore, the real star of the series, as a toy. The boss and the one paying the bills, and the sister of the human antagonist. It’s more entertaining to have a female protagonist go up against disgusting monsters.
>>11587288I would have bought her toy.
>>11587017>>11587019Yeah I fully agree with your observation. Bless them, they tried to get as much mileage out of those smaller monsters but they really just pale in comparison to the big bads. The tv show had smaller ghostbuster-esque creatures that menaced the humans just the same. They needed to include more oddballs in the vein of gargoyle.
>>11587089based. It's honestly a shame how messy the copyrights for Inhumanoids got, I'd kill for some reissues. It would have been fun to see these guys
11587311*battle godzilla or something
>>11587311HasBro not releasing the big 3 for a Halloween limited release is such a waste of revenue!
I love to look at old catalogs and see what toys cost back then.
>>11587387Considering the working relationship they have with marvel you'd think they could atleast make that happen.
>>11587424Its nice to see everything in one place but I always wince at the prices. We used to have a real economy.
Who owns this series again?
>>11587905I don’t think Hasbro kept the trademark of the name.
>>11587905Ownership is split between Marvel and Hasbro, and largely nobody knows who owns what. I've seen some say Marvel owns the character names but Hasbro retains the characters. Either way the series is overdue for some sort of third party treatment.
>>11588075So its like Marvel owns the “Inhumanoids” title but Hasbro owns all the characters?
>>11586859Tendril is stolen from concept art for Alien. I got him for $3 at Goodwill maybe a decade ago. Back before they started charging retail/collectibles prices for broken garbage.
>>11587424Don't forget to fap to the lingerie section for the authentic '80s-kid experience.
>>11588115Hasbro doesn’t seem to have anything anymore. They wanted to put them in IDW but couldn’t, and all they could get away with is using the humans with tweaked names.
>>11588115That's what I'd heard years ago. No clue if it holds any water.>>11588137Primordia seemed like an outright pastiche made to circumvent the legal kerfuffle the IP was in. It's worth noting what a tragedy it was that they couldnt make their shared universe ambitions work. I do still want to see Micronauts, Gi Joe, Transformers, etc share a universe and get upto fun shenanigans but nobody working in any facet of modern entertainment can pull their heads out of their asses long enough to make it work.
Oh good a thread for me to use some of my useless Inhumanoids knowledge. The guy pictured was named Sabre Jet. His name is Brad Armbruster which is the Skystriker pilot from GI Joe. I think there was something with him being injured and his destroyed Skystriker parts being used to build his armor. He was supposed to be a figure in the next series along with a big monster of Sslither. The Hector Rivera guy appeared in the show along with the others like Jem, TF and Joe. The writers were trying to connect everything together but no one stopped them back then. He wasn’t off the table to do a o-ring Reaction+ figure according to Super 7. The rights on this is a mess. I’ve heard Hasbro owns the designs but Marvel owns the names and backstory. Then I’ve also heard Hasbro doesn’t own it at all. There were things like this where the rights revert to the designers like Sectaurs did. There’s a name of a guy named David McDonald but I’m not sure if he’s ever responded about it. In the initial flurry of Super 7 getting o-rings made there were a bunch of announcements that Joe, Back to the Future, Micronauts, Ghostbusters, and Universal Monsters were coming out and they have. There’s a few others that could be on the way but others that were weird cause they were said to be done in 3.75” scale was MASK and the Inhumanoids scientists. It’s possible they’re still coming but who knows at this point with their shake ups. Ramen Toys is aware of people’s want for Inhumanoids but he’s a small company and has lots going on including his first licensed ip. He did announce last night he’s doing 1/12 Visionaries.
