The Hasbro Tron toy line will be revealed this week at NYCC.Old:>>11572224Tron: Ares is out now in theaters.Trailer:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vo1EFYP9MTI
DOA lol
>>11589044Oh nononono
>>11589040> Tron: Ares is out now in theaters.Don’t realize it came out. Is it doing ok or pretty terrible?
>>11589057Tomorrow is the official release day, right now its previews, reviews are ok, so and so, like Legacy.
>>11589044>>11589047The reviews I read said it's big on eye-candy visuals, but the story sucked. They confirmed that it's a soft-reboot where the writers did like the last POTC movie and said "FUCK CONTINUITY AND CANON! WE'RE GONNA DO THINGS OUR OWN WAY!"So yeah it comes down to shit writing for a shit story. It breaks my heart. I was really hoping that it was going to be good. At least we have a clear answer for why toy-makers avoided the merch. They knew it was gonna suck.
>>11589067Sam and Quorra show up ina picture, Quorra is bald (can't blame them, Wilde aged like shit).
>>11589067>big on eye-candy visuals, but the story suckedSo it's like the other movies.
>>11589040ITS HAPPENING
>>11589114>3.75 retro cards
>>11589114WHEN
I just want a Rinzler and a Black Guard toy.
>>11589239Hasbro does its "action brands" panel tomorrow, so probably then.
>>11589267I WANT IT NOW
>>11589267Happening now
ALL IN ALL INITS FUCKING HAPPENING
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO
>>11589114
>>11589361
>>11589361Do they really think Tron of all things has enough of a fanbase to fund a HasLab? Why is Disney pushing Tron so hard right now lmao?
>>11589365
WHERE ARE LEGACY FIGURES????
>>11589365I'm glad that we finally get Yori, but they would look better in clear plastic with flourescent day-glow paint.
>>11589368Because of Leto, he produced the movie, he is a tron super fan
>>11589375Goddamn he is so fucking annoying.
>>11589368I think they don’t know if there is enough demand for a retail line and this is a good way to test the waters
>>11589376Be madder at the script-writers for coming up with a shitty script.
>>11589374Nah this is best. I don’t want it to fucking crumble in my hand
>>11589361$260Welp it’s over before it started
>THEY STILL HAVE NO RENDERS OF LEGACY FIGURES
>>11589385LOL, LMAO EVEN!Who the FUCK do they think they're kidding with this?
>>11589385For real? Selling them as one big lot won't help them find out if the market is there for them.
>>11589390They have prototypes in the display
>they are still working on designing the legacy figures>there won't be ares toysLmaoWtf was all of this?
I think the original Tron designs are kinda bad. Nobody asked but I just wanted to say it because I've never heard anyone else say it.
>>11589395>Wtf was all of this?Them knowing that Ares was gonna suck?
I like the tron designs and I am a zoomer
>>11589361>>11589365>>11589385Retail at $20 a figure and pack the bitch with a light cycle. Instead they pull this like they didn’t want this to work.
>>11589404Yeah this is overpriced by at least $100. $160 while expensive would’ve been an easy purchase. Why wasn’t this made to order instead if they didn’t have faith in it?
What a shitshow
>>11589407Scalpers are gonna make a killing off of selling the figures individually like with the Rattler where if you sold off the figures, you got the Rattler for free.
>>11589421This shit ain’t funding cuh
Will legacy figures be mass release?
>>11589425I think it will due mainly to scalpers buying the maximum order limit. There probably won't be unlocks, but if there are then it's not hard to imagine a "warrior" as well as a blue RAM (why is he red?)
>>11589438Don't know. Legacy figures have still yet to be shown.
>>11589385>$260 for 3.75" figuresYep. It's doomed. It would have been possible in the 6" size, but not the smaller one.
I would’ve bought these $20 each and the light cycles $30. This should’ve been made to order. I am so disappointed because they look great but hasbro can suck my cock.
:(
>>11589493Sark and Yori are the two I want, but not at that price.
cope, seethe, and dilate 6inggersthis thing will do numbers
>>11589460>OG Tron figures 3.75">Legacy figures 6"How retarded. Pick a damn scale!
Fun fact, Sark shows up in Tron Ares
We’re so back
>>11589528HOLY SHITTHE GOATTHE KINGMY BOYMY BEAUTIFUL BOYFUCK YES FUCK YES FUCK YES
>>11589460For that price this should come with so much more. Ram is sorely missing. No guards? No alternate 90 degree light trails? No pixelated explosion effect part to put next to aforementioned 90 degree light trail? I can't see them offering any more of these figures in this scale if all the main characters are a Haslab, so this needed to be more expansive.
Yeah this 3.75 figures definitely aren’t funding now. Might as well blown them up to 6 inches
>>11589525>>11589528>>11589532>>11589535>>11589535Flourescent day-glow paint does exist. Why do toy-makers avoid using it? >>11589536RAM is the second guy in red. And typically Haslabs have unlocks, so who knows?
>>11589528KEVIN FLYNNWHERE ARE YOU NOW???
I would buy lego sets of tron
>>11589528Please tell me these are wide retail release
>>11589553>RAM is the second guy in red.No he isn't, that's a random program from the team of three that Tron, Flynn, and Ram competed against.
>>11589361>>11589365>>11589369$300+
>>11589460>>11589487>I am so disappointed because they look great but hasbro can suck my cock.Same. Looks like they are forcing that light up display stand as part of the $260 price, and I didn't see a single stretch goal. $260 is WAY too much, and fuck your fucking display stand. They could have brought in the rest for under $200. I love 3.75, these would have been fun to mix in with my Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but I simply refuse to pay $260 for this. Not to mention they need 10k orders to get there. This is just insane.Drop the price and we'll talk.I don't care if you ditch that unnecessary and overpriced light up stand. No, Hasbro. Simply no.
>>11589570This is the correct answer, and its specifically what the team said in the live stream. Plus they showed the back of the Program figure.Shame this is going to fail.
Sark Julian Dillinger when? If you saw the tron ares post credits
>all this wait for this wet fartI hate Hasbro
Did they say anything about tron ares toys?
>>11589591Not happening.
>>11589600>we will never have tron ares sarkWhy live
>>11589525>>11589528>>11589532>>11589535Where the fuck is my waifu?
>>11589575>>11589570looks like red RAM to me.
>>11589604I attended the Legacy and Ares double feature last night. The absence of the Legacy cast from Ares weighs down the entire movie. You know a movie is bad when Jared Leto plays the best character.
>>11589604I want GEM and Zoos in milky-white plastic with flourescent day-glow paint.
>>11589613Yes I know, you're retarded.
>HasLab figures don't glow in the darkLMAO, Hasbro, are you even trying.
Looks like they're Pulse exclusive.
>>11589645>Pulse exclusive.Oh then go fuck yourself you're not getting any of my money.
>>11589604Figure not done yet
Well. Hasbro's not fucking around with getting it out there.
>>11589525Hell yeah Ri->>11589645Oh come on!
>$360 + TAX + SHIPPING + TIP
>>11589670https://www.hasbropulse.com/product/G35465L00Their own website says $259. Whoever posted that put his thumb on the scale to scare potential backers.
>>11589645I’m still getting Sam and Clu
>>11589613>Point out where the LIVE STREAM specifically said he's "Program">They went in to detail about him>They showed his CARD ART with the name PROGRAM>DURRRRRR looks like red RAM to me.Just....fucking just......Good Lord
>>11589733Red Ram
*sigh*Much like needing to bring out the silver paint for battle armor Cobra Commander, it looks ike there's some work I have to do myself to make the figures right.
>>11589653>179 Backers!We're gonna make it lads!!!!!!!kek, no.
>>11589733I didn't watch the livestream, and the figure still has similarities to RAM.
I appreciate Rinzler having an unmasked Tron head. I guess I can buy a second and paint the orange lights white to make it a proper Tron. Though it would be the cheapest and easiest variant in the world for Hasbro to just offer a white light Tron version.
>no black guard army builderAmateur hour over at Hasbro as per usual.
>>11589755>no fucking ZuseMichael Sheen instantly improves every movie he's in.
>>11589759I agree with you, though as much as I'd want him I wouldn't ever expect him to be a wave 1 character. Black Guards really should be.
>>11589771We aren’t getting waves if theses are pulse exclusive
Not loving the expression they chose for Clu. Also if you know anything about Hasbro you'll know these figures are going to be a QC nightmare, and only being able to purchase them sight unseen on Pulse will yield a lot of of unhappy customers when their figures arrive with the lines painted horribly off their marks.
>>11589773It's still a wave of figures regardless of how it's released.
>>11589780They used the digital file from the movie
It seems these figures are nowhere close to being released if they still need licensor approval. Which begs the question, why? The time to strike is now as a new film is in theaters and interest in Tron is higher than usual. How many potential consumers will stop caring 6 months from now? I imagine a fair amount.
>>11589789And? I don't like the expression. He's too happy. I know the moment they took this expression from, but I think it was a poor choice. A more stern expression would better represent Clu.
>>11589799And you’re a whiny bitch.
If they wanted to go for realism then they should have found a way to brighten the color trim whether it be glow-in-the-dark, blacklight, or flourescent paint. I can already see what I have to do with getting the blackest flat-black paint I can get then using a really bright paint for the details.
>>11589802
>they disabled video commentsKWAB
I would rather have Uprising figures, Beck, Paige, Tron, Clu, Tessler, Tessler with big hands, Quorra etcsomehow these figures are more boring than i could have imagined, also rereleasing 3.45 just seems like a cash grab, no thanks don't forget there are Kubrick figures our there which are cute and even have the MCP
>>11589839>also rereleasing 3.45 just seems like a cash grab, no thanksBased dumbass
For me its Tron 2.0
>>11589920Not my pics but I do own Jet and Mercury. Need to find the others at some point
>>11589920i love the game, never really liked that Jet became all muscular in the grid. been wanting that guard forever though, i have Mercury but have grown to dislike the figure over time.
Anyone here legitimately backing the HasLab?I just don't see this one funding. $200 or less would have been the sweet spot for me (seriously, get out of here with this forced display bullshit!). It's a nice display, but their "take it or else nothing" approach is such a massive turn off. I can literally make my own, and it's just so fucking unnecessary. It would have been okay as an additional option for those who wanted itBut NO stretch goals. NONE. This whole thing is such a head scratcher. Those figures are incredible. But the price is just absurd.
>>11589950$180 would’ve been my max
they should have included Jai alai arms for the 82' set
>>11589950If they would’ve added a master control, lab laser, real world Flynn, a duel disc arena and derez effects I would’ve shelled out $260
>>11589950The price is absolutely ridiculous but if by some miracle it actually funds I'll probably throw in for one. I won't back prior to that though. I don't want to play any part in helping this meet it's goal because this deserves to fail. It did not need to be a Haslab. An appropriate Haslab would be a giant Recognizer or MCP or something to augment these figures and cycles sold separately as Pulse exclusives if no retailer wanted them.
>>11589971And one of these fuckers to act as a caring case for the figures and their accessories
>>11589950Scalpers have never taken a loss on scalping Haslabs as far as I know, and there is no "five per person" limit on this one. Within that, I think there's a possibility that it'll fund.
>>11589971Doing this as a Haslab and not including the MCP is crazy.
>>11589780I never got into Hasbro outside of Transformers until Power Rangers Lightning Collection and so as a huge Tron fan I am fucking out. I'm not going through that again. Maybe if they ever show up outside of Pulse. Not even a Quorra.
>>11589978>pathetic
>>11589979Nta but I’m unfortunately a mark when it comes to Tron legacy. Waiting to here about pricing but I’m most likely going to get Sam and Clu as long as the price isn’t obscene.
>>11589976We got a small recognizer from Legacy, but that's it.
>>11589986
>>11589980would still love a 82 solar sailer toy, and for Legacy would be great to have those fighter jets for the figs to go in had they been smaller
>>11590008>>11590010>the legs are half as long as the armsPeople liked those?
>>11589971Ooohhhh nice ideas. Yeah, it needed WAY more figures for the price. But that "Program" figure could have easily gotten a "derezzed" version thrown in!
Why 1982 and legacy same scale if both ar pulse anyway?
>>11589975>if by some miracle it actually funds I'll probably throw in for one.I simply won't>this deserves to fail. Yes, it does. I'm done fueling their greed, and I don't want to see this shit leak over into other properties. They simply need to give us value for our money. That's it. They charge the "fan" tax and get away with it on GI Joe and other items. I'm taking a stand, man.
Cmon guys, these will probably be the best Tron toys we will ever get, we shouldn't sacrifice them for some moral highground. I will cave in.
>>11589977>Scalpers have never taken a loss on scalping Haslabs as far as I know>as far as I know>as far as I knowGet around social media more often. That Mandalorian spaceship for starters, people tied up funds and couldn't offload at cost. They thought they had the next Sail Barge. kek.
>>11590023Good luck! Enjoy! I still have my DST 7", my TOMY, my Super7 ReAction sets, etc. I can also 3d print my own. These look great but I'm not starved for content.
kek!!!!Toyark says there's a $35 surcharge on top of the $259.99 if you're not a Premium Pulse member!!! HAHAHAHAFuck, I'm already pissed that they're withholding the con exclusives almost an entire MONTH for non-members. Its almost as if they want to drive all of their business away!>bbb but Pulse give perks! Not fucking interested. Holy shit I'm still waiting for figures that Amazon and BBTS already got in ages ago. FUCK Hasbro Pulse!
>>11590024It's at 500 backers now, which is 5%. If they can break 1,000 by around noon tomorrow then that's 10% of the way there in one day. So it's still possible.
>>11590050>Autism alert! You can't mathematically predict human emotions stupid. God I hate your types of COPE posts. See you in 46 days.
>>11590050Honestly if this funds then I just won’t buy hasbro products anymore. Maximum is one thing but this is just insane and will only get worse.
Disney is fucking drunk. There isn't 10K bazinga nerds out there goona pay that.
>>11590050Haslabs have a large flux at the start and end of campaigns. It needs to do better than 10%.
>>11590049Do you really need to mald about this in two threads? You're pathetic.
>>11590050They just make up all this shit at the end anyway.
>>11590071Various Haslabs have failed. I forget which one, but there was one that was very close. This isn't a big ruse, if they don't get the minimum backers they ain't making it.
>>11589976>>11589986There were two Recognizers. The Diecast (with a variant which was much more red than orange) and a Recognizer carrying case for Diecast Legacy vehicles
>>11590096The ones they arbitrarily decided not to go ahead with.
>>11590102Yeah, I'm sure Disney was keen to arbitrarily allow some of their campaigns to fail.
>>11589982>long as the price isn’t obscene. The problem for me is I'm not american. So currency conversion plus bad shipping fees to get it from Pulse. Shipping is even worse here because our postal service goes on strike a lot and other shit is even more expensive to ship.
>>11590096they haven't allowed any to fail in years now
>>11589525>>11589528>>11589532>>11589535Are the 3.75 or 6?
>>11590065There probably are. We'll see. I think it CAN and most will fail, but I also know that there are enough Tron fans and scalpers who would love to have it at least as an investment toy.
>>11590065People said the same thing about the Cantina. And the Gunship.
Why is modern Hasbro so incompetent? They can’t even release toys that come out around the same time as the source material anymore.
>>11590188Those are 6
>>11590271i remember during the Patrick era they blamed it on ST 'mystery box' bullshit, but even that didn't make sense because there was a robust offering of products for Force Friday prior to TFA coming out
>>11590274Oh, cheers
Tron, TRON? Still trying to make it a thing eh?
>>11590271>Hasbro is currently suggesting that they're going to start making 3.75 inch figures again... but they'll Haslab exclusives that you have to buy an entire wave of ahead of time at exorbitant prices.Grim.
>>115903383.75 is such a shit scale 4.5 is the sweet spot
>>11590358she's lying
>>11590361My grandma would never lie to me
>>11590374it would have been funnier if you said *my* grandma
>>11590390I’ve never met your grandma
>>11590338375 is 187
>>11590271because Americans can't do anything and need factories half way round the world to do everything. boomers sold out your future just so they could get an easy retirement. China has tons of great 1/18 offerings anyway who needs the same boring Tron trash.
>>11590412I don't like Chinese slop IPs.
>>11589368Because they destroyed their Star Wars and Marvel franchises and are desperate for a brand that will win over young boys again.
>>11590338I’m speechless. >>11590412I’ve been considering it. Not very happy about the prices of companies like JoyToy but with Hasbro keeps creeping up to their price range. I just want to go back to the days of actually finding stuff on shelved and getting stuff for less than or equal to ten bucks. World of Halo was pretty close.
>>11589647I just like Tron Legacy so I don't know what this pulse thing is. Are you telling me I won't be able to go to a store and buy my boy Rinzler off a peg?
The Disney Parks Flynn Identity Disc is up on Disney Store site for anyone who wants it. If it isn't loading, search Tron on the mobile app.
>front wheel does not moveIs this another humiliation ritual?
>>11590338I don't mind the scale at all. Quite the opposite I enjoy it. It's the price that fucks everything.
>>11590197People "say" the same shit because they are retarded NPCs. Star Wars has been on the shelves now for 30 years continuously for the modern era. People have collections of Cantina Aliens and clones and shit so its natural to add to it with those. This Tron set looks like a complete "one and done", its its own thing, doesn't mesh with anything else Tron related, and even worse it heavily implies there won't be anything else later like Ram or a Red cycle. It IS the collection, it is not a hole in a collection you've been working on.I can absolutely see this stalling out. I would have been all over this at retail, and "Program" is kind of an army builder and I'd have wanted a few. This is a completely new beast, where its a blip on the radar that if you miss it, there's not stuff before or after it to notice its absence. Its so completely tone deaf I'm really shocked at Hasbro.Kind of like Mondo's "collection in a box" concept
>>11590338Sad. This is where I wanted things to be back in the heydey of when they were doing both Star Wars and Indiana Jones for around $7 per figure with SA.Part of "world building" is army building, which is impossible with HasLabs. And the prices just aren't feasible.Too little, too late.
>>11590871That's also why it could be long-term valuable. Not many will have it. Collectors with the means love having shit no one else has. The original line only has 4 figures and 2 lightcycles in it yet is expensive as shit now. That's why I think it has a chance. Right now I'm at feeling like it has a 50% chance of succeeding.
>>11590886Buy them all then, you autistic sperg
>>11590491Its Hasbros official store you have to use to buy online only. It even has a fucking subscription service for exclusives and I think buying stuff before other people but I might be wrong in that. I love legacy too. I wish I just bought the old toys back then
>>11589771They put him next to Quorra on all the Speedstorm Tron marketing instead of Sam. They still put Sam into the game but they know nobody gives a fuck about him.
anyone want to bet Quorra won't look like Olivia Wilde?
>>11589072>Quorra is baldShe’s dying
Why doesn't Tron Guy have a profile on the HasLab page?
>>11591786Still would a Costanza Quorra
>>11589040Are all the Tron figures 1/18 or just the haslab?
>>11589799I agree, he should have included an ahegao face
>>11591493Hasbro sucks at likeness so...
>>11589525>comes with unmasked head purely for imaginationThat’s really cool>>11589670I will never in my life pay for an action figure they’re made in slave labor factories for Christ sake
>>11589528>>11589780>no cool cloakBORING
Tron Ares was good, I want Tron 4 now
Good news, hot wheels will release tron vehicles in 2026 from all 3 films!
Peak
>>11592026I want a 1982 style Recognizer
>>11590024Sail Barge was the 1st original item from Pulse. Of course it's gonna be valuable. The Razorcrest was a hunk of crap with a horrible design....Pulse never got my money but I'm gonna have to say I'm in for Tron Legacy cause it's the only way I'll get my hands on something better than the Spinmasters stuff from 15 years ago.
>>11589040Just saw Anal Log bitching about this on youtube. Stupid mother fucker WHINED about how he couldn't find the dimensions of the stand to see if it would fit in a Detolf. He also showed the backers in the 700's. Pic shown was posted BEFORE backers hit 700, so this dumb bald mother fucker MISSED this pic and whined anyway.Furthermore, Anal Log WHINED and insulted Mr Stevie about him creating 3.75 when it's been around since 1977, because Anal Log can't read because he's a retard that eats too many crayons and couldn't grasp where Mr Stevie said he was EXPANDING the 3.75 universe, not fucking creating it. Anal Log, you are a complete fucking retard.DETOLF SHELVES: 15 INCHES WIDETRON DISPLAY: 16 INCHES WIDEIT WON'T FIT IN A FUCKING DETOLF!!!!!!!!Top Kek. Watch ANY MrStevie video and his entire backdrop is nothing BUT Detolfs!!!!! The designer himself couldn't fucking work out how to put his own creation in his own shelf!!! Kekkkk!!! And Anal Log is too retarded to figure it out but whined anyway!
>>11592026>2026Remember when toy companies had to get toys out before the source material released? >>11592135Hasbro is the one that purposefully killed 3.75 inch in the first place; removing articulation from MU and TCW, flooding the market with 5POA, and ETC.
>>11592135The more I see them the more I like them. Hasbro is obviously re-tooled their 3.75" body format again so the figures have overall better proportions. when Hasbro first showed them I thought they were the 6" size scale not only because of proportions but also because of face-sculpt. And fuck Anal-guy. He like the two Michaels is one of those "serious collectors" that doesn't seem to get any actual enjoyment out of the hobby. SMILE AND BE HAPPY ABOUT GETTING (whatever), FUCKER!
>>11589759Dude chewed up the entire scene with mad acting skills. If there was ever a time the right actor got the right part it was this.
>>11592160>Hasbro is the one that purposefully killed 3.75 inch in the first place; removing articulation from MU and TCW, flooding the market with 5POA, and ETC.Hasbro didn't kill it, retail did. TVC never went away so saying it was "killed" is retarded and wrong just by that alone. MU were just fugly as hell with their janky ass articulation, and MU was up to $16-18 when it died compared to $20 6inch ML and just couldn't compete. They didn't "flood" 5poa, that shit is niche. Your anger blinds you to reality.
>>11592183He stole the spotlight in both Underworld and Twilight. He also had a short but good part in Passengers. The guy's an awesome actor, and for Hasbro to forget about Zuse is crap.
>>11592184>Hasbro didn't kill it, retail did.If you mean "retail" like clogging the shelves with retro-style mandalorians and Reva then throwing in moderd-style figures and vehicles on retro-style packaging while their vintage reissues sold out faster than fuck only for Hasbro to say "fuck that let's not do those any more," then yeah.
>>11592204>Autistic screechingNot reading that. Just stop already
>>11592223>can't refuteGrow up
>>11592135You're watching literal autistic retard ((reviewers))
>>11592234>doesn't grasp the difference between "can't" and "won't"I accept your concession.
>>11589047Damn, Tron Legacy was that panned?I actually kinda liked it when I first watched it.
>>11592135LMAO, not even a 1000 after two days. This will flop so hard. Me, I would be convinced if blue and red stripes were glowing in the dark. As is, waste of money.
>>11589920Great designs
>>11590096Cookie Monster, Engine of Vengence, Rancor, Reva Lightsaber and some board games.Unicron also was on the verge of failing, but Hasbro keept throwing it a bone.
>>11592429How old are you? You sleep ng shit then refuse to back it up when presented with a counter-argument pointing out the peg-warmer nature of the vintage collection. The smaller size not only sells figures but also more vehicles than the larger size can. It's also easier for collectors to collect and display.
>>11592443It's a movie that wasn't that popular at release but has since gained a cult following. I watched it back in the day and enjoyed it from the start.
>>11592464>Cookie Monster,I lament this loss. He'd have been sitting on the couch and laying in bed and eating cookies with me for years now had he funded.
>movie bombing>haslab bombingIt's over for this franchise...
>>11592718>Cast the worst lead imaginable nearly>Haslab is such dogshit half assed and hollow shitWow what a surprise
>>11592873It's the ugly women that are the problem. I legitimately didn't even know they were supposed to be main characters because one was one of those plain old butter face Asian things they try to put everywhere now. Man. We're never getting toys of Uprising characters. Fuck, Tron's design in that show is easily my favorite...>>11593115It's not crap, but it's not great. Has its moments, but lacks that grand feeling the first two films did. It's like the Disney DVD sequel to Legacy, I'd say.
How big is the light cycle promo bucket for Ares? I was thinking of getting it but it's online only... And apparently 75 bucks. Even the Galactus head wasn't that much.
>>11592972>It's the liberalsJust going to point out that the terrible casting in movies has nothing to do with US or even Western politics. >>11592894>It's the ugly women that are the problem. That's definitely part of the problem, but I'd argue casting Jarred Letto and not continuing off of Legacy's ending were the biggest culprits in the movie's failure. The ugly bitches were merely the cherry on top of the shit sundae.
Wait so are the Legacy figures Pulse exclusive? Man I would've bought all of them if they were regular releases.
>>11593818At thr rate it's going it'll never fund unless they lower it to 8,000. There's not even any stretch goals.
>>11592718'The franchise' not being the francise anymore makes me not care twice as hard.
>>11593115Thought it was ok. Still liked Legacy better. I think the weakest part was the villains were meh. The 99th iteration of Hollywood Evil Techbro and Athena, who was basically henchwoman promoted to main villain. She never really felt threatening all. They don't even compare to the likes of MCP, Sark, Clu and Rinzler. Also, not having a cameo of Tron when Ares was in the original grid was bullshit.
>>11593115It was fine. The weirdest part is that Jared Leto wasn't one of its problems.
Wait, is the Haslab 3.75" scale?I thought they were 6" scale, and even that barely justified the price. How tf..?

>>11593995I don't mind both sizes. It's easier and takes less room to collect the smaller format, but the larger one has its positives too. My only complaint about the Haslab is the PRICE.
No one I knew wanted to see it initially but I am seeing it with a buddy this week who was like sure whatever. These were the reasons. >What is Tron? >I fucking hate Jared Leto/Morbius/that guy etc>Looks lame >Why is it in the real world? I'm going to assume the movie's biggest issues were the marketing and having Leto who almost everyone I know (including myself) dislikes. Not to mention Tron has never been a mega franchise and theatre turnout is low for many blockbusters these days. Was probably destined to fail.
It's a youtube comment so I can't really say it's fully accurate or true but supposing he isn't lying out of his ass, what the fuck Hasbro?
>>11594158Have a good time! The movie has it's flaws but it works for what it is.>>11594907As for the figures, I'll look into the Legacy 6 inch figures if they're within an acceptable price range...(acceptable being less than $35 a figure in the set)

>>11595296I was optimistic in the beginning, but the price is way too high. That price is what's scaring away backers.
You fuckers had best keep buying these long enough to get me Abraxas.
>>11595303>the price is way too high.I would have backed at $150. I probably would have for $200. At $260 plus tax plus shipping ($34.99 surcharge for non-Premium members), Hasbro can take their 16-inch wide USB-C light up display stand and shove it up their ass sideways.I hate that I'm actively wanting this to fail, but I want it to fail to teach Hasbro a major lesson of doing better to meet customer expectations.
>>11595621I can't help but feel it's on purpose.Think about it, this's ostensibly all to tie-in to Ares' release, yet not a single Ares toy is actually being made. The only toys being made are exclusives, not going out to retail. The big-ticket Haslab is horrendously overpriced.I feel like they engineered everything specifically to fail; they don't want to bother with a retail wave, they don't want the Haslab to actually fund.Hasbro likely has no faith in Tron Ares bringing in interest to begin with and are doing this out of obligation, and looking to drop their involvement with the IP ASAP so they can go back to focusing on TF/Joe/Marvel/Star Wars.
>>11592447While I agree with the sentiment that that price on the set is too high and making people commit to buying an entire line is too big of an ask for casual fans, I think Hasbro new that the new movie was going to flop and hedged their bets heavily on the toy line. It's possible that they commissioned the sculpts before they had seen the new movie, and after watching it they knew it wouldn't survive at retail. Rather than spending millions on a toyline that would end up at Ollie's, they dumped the whole thing onto Haslab to give hardcore fans a one time chance get it, and as it turns out, the hardcore Tron fandom is not that big, the hype and good will from Tron Legacy was allowed to burn out by waiting too long for a sequel, and Tron Ares basically killed any chance at the IP having a serious revival. The annoying part is that these things probably could have found at least a small market as souvenirs at Disney parks since they have a Tron light cycles ride now, but clearly Disney didn't have enough faith to put in a full order for the line at their own expense, so instead of being a retail item it ended up being a crowd funder that isn't getting funded. A sad fate for a niche but well loved IP.
>>11595841Look at the figures closely. They're a new sculpt format for that scale that allows better sculpt quality. They have better head sculpts and overall they're proportioned the same way 6" figures are. See it here:>>11589365Hasbro really went out of its way to improve the 3.75" format of figures. That's obvious. I actually really like what they did in that size a lot, and I would not complain if they did Joes and toher lines like that. I just can't afford it at that price.
>>11595355We're not even getting a white Tron anon, keep smoking
>>11589040Since it has no tiers to unlock, I am hoping that there'll be a surprise price-slash. I really do like those figures, but just can't handle the price.
>>11596246And nothing of value was lost
>>11596246That sucks. I hope the shitty screenplay writers and producers who approved that shit script are proud of themselves.
>>11596246This means nothing to me. In 5 years time I’ll just generate my own Tron kino.
As a Tron fan I liked a lot of elements of it, not the worst blockbuster to come out this year by any stretch but that being said it was a significant step down from Legacy in every way. The world-building especially was lacking. So little is spent in the grid and most of it is just in a single room where Dillinger talks to Ares. The music was fine at times but other times it felt out of place. The costumes and action all felt subpar outside of a few moments. Also felt a lot of it was edited out or rewritten after the fact. Also I wish we actually got Tron in the OG grid instead of Flynn (or have both of them). Ares is a program that breaks his conditioning and fights for a user is similar to Tron/Rinzler. Still, I liked some of the little details included and would probably rewatch when its out online.
>>11589404The figures wouldn't sell enough to make Hasbro's profit requirements at $20 a figure. Hasbro is aware no kids buy Tron action figures, only adult collectors, whales. So they are treating this property as a whale property and trying to gouge people who they know have more disposable income.
>>11596246Ots been over every time they made a Tron movie but knowing they spammed fat star wars girl merch and didnt even try with Ares is pretty frustrating. I hope it doesnt mean all much forever of appearances in games and shit.
>>11589792Toy making is slow, please understand, takes many years to design toy and bring to market.

>>11590096Rancor was very close. If they had extended it for a day it probably would've funded.
>>11596246With "ai" fans can make their own sequels.
>>11596345Well it's not working because they priced shit too high for even the whales.
>>11590871It's risk averse. the atmosphere for toys now is EXTREMELY risky, probably the highest it's ever been. so they are playing it very safe by making the customer shoulder all the risk. They don't want another Indy or DND line that goes direct to Ollie's now that it costs so much more to bring these figures over from China
>>11596387Hasbro could have at least told people that they cancelled Ares instead of letting people believe it's still on until NYCC where we figured it out ourselves with their lack of mentioning it. And they should know that the price for the HASLAB set was too high.
>>11596407>And they should know that the price for the HASLAB set was too high. It's probably around 30% higher than what most would consider to be the very highest reasonable price this should conceivably cost.
>>11596368>With "ai" fans can make their own sequels.
>>11596476>With "ai" fans can make their own sequels.Just want to point out that this will be reality in probably less than ten years. The powerful AI tools that movie makers use to save time and money will eventually become affordable to the general public. So a movie that might cost 200 million to make might only cost 20 thousand or less. The effect will be similar to how home recording and Internet distribution devastated the Music Industry (who never recovered), but now with the Film Industry. Clip this.
>>11596485AI movies are already showing up on YouTube. They're short at around 15 minutes each but they're there. It's already possible because of it
>>11594907I believe this, they always do market research and do way better versions of what they release with more stuff.Originally the Cantina was supposed to be $50 dollars cheaper and have 2 more figures. The gunship was shown to a market research group for $350 and more stuff and was voted worst of the four they were shown.Which goes to show Hasbro will always make the least exciting item with a way worse version when solicited.

>>11600644The overhead on 12" figures is lower than on fully plastic figures because the manufacturer only needs one buck, and most of the plastic parts can be molded in softer materials that are less expensive to manufacture. Inversely, the cost of making them doesn't really decrease per unit on large orders, so making them as high end collectables makes the most sense. Even if they make less than a thousand of these the manufacturer will sill probably make a profit.

What a sad thread. It's not even discussing the old dead toyline from Tron Legacy (which was okay for what it was), but a new toyline that is stillborn and isn't even going to happen. And when it's like >>11601530 pointed out and the big milestone is getting 1/10 the number of backers needed, you know this whole venture is up shit creek without a paddle. Every other failed Haslab before this had way better support in its first day or so, usually getting at least 1/3 of their total needed funding. This will not even reach the halfway point by the time the campaign ends. I think it will likely hover at 1k because everyone knows the campaign is not going to fund.
>>11602348>a new toyline that is stillborn and isn't even going to happenI honestly thought the new cycles and recognizer in Ares was cool. Thought about 3D printing my own.

>>11602638It gets even worse when I found out this actress played henchwoman to Jodie Turner-Smith and even had a line of dialogue. I only saw her mouth under a helmet in the movie and I thought she was hot.
>>11600405Imagine a world where films could tell stories without having to hit diversity quotas. The Eve character could have been Alan and Lorna's daughter, who took over Encom after Sam stepped down rather than some completely random Asian chick. Instead of dealing with the death of a sister we're only ever told about, she could have been dealing with the death of her mother, a character we actually knew, and could sympathize for. She could have been working with her dad on the permanence code instead of a random Guatemalan. But alas, that would have been too many white people for 2025 Disney.
>>11602619And it doesn't even include the actual army builder.
