I remember seeing something like pic related on youtube back around 15 years ago. It had motorized legs, an LED screen, and maybe buttons on the front? I think they were japanese. They had some backstory very similar to tamagotchi that they were aliens in spaceships and needed help being raised. Please help me figure out what these were.

bumping and adding more info. see pic related. I never had this toy but i distinctly seeing at least one maybe two youtube videos about it back in around 2010 when browsing the tamagotchi and robot side of youtube. It was around the time nao was a thing or perhaps earlier. The youtube video is almost lost media because it's impossible to find any information with the asinine search algorithms we have nowadays. It almost seems like a predecessor to that social robot that came out like 7 years ago and then every chinese company ripped off, but it was not that. This did not have arms and it was primarily a vpet from what i could tell.

Pretty impressive just how accurate you got it off of memory alone. Well-done. Glad you figured it out OP.
