>>11599568Obviously not the usual OP, but last thread got pruned for some reason. Copied the "fixed" OP from the last thread and updated with what just came in stock and the Mondo preorder at BBTS, but fucked up at the end there and forgot to green text it.I will commit seppuku now.
>>11599568>tqA third time? Lol, you must be new to origins.
>>11599568I would have preferred the 200x toy designs over toon accurate desu, except Mossman who benefits from not being green beastman.
>>11599586It was a rough average.>vintage>Cartoon Collection>200x>odd variants like minicomic and LoPSome like Stratos have gotten figures in all 4 main categories. Some like Whiplash didn't get a minicomic figure. Some like Roboto didn't get a CC figure. Some will only get a vintage figure. He-man and Skeletor are probably up to 18 versions by now, but the main characters are statistical outliers.I also wasn't counting crossover shit.
So what happened to the other thread? I am just curious what I missed.
>>11599718Literally nothing. No shitposting or anything. https://archive.palanq.win/toy/thread/11597765/#11597765Best I can figure out is maybe OP got a ban that got all his posts pruned.
>>11599727Makes sense but a let down. I wanted to hear something scandalous like someone made AI lewds of Andra and Madam Razz that went too far for a blue board.
>>11599752You could do it AnonBecome a legend
>>11599727I bet the OP was one of the guys arguing back an fourth at the beginning of the thread about whatever the fucking christ stupid bullshit something about the OP being wrong and mods got em.At least I hope so.
>>11599752Andra finding Etheria and getting lesbian moral support from Razz sounds plausible. It's actually kind of funny how her best friend Sorceress Teela knows fuck all about other dimensions than Eternia 's afterlifes, while in Filmation Teela's mom claimed she could never find Adora because she could access too damn many dimensions to search them all.
I reached out to mondo about clawful being an exclusive. Hope they get back to me.
>>11599782What? Yes, it's an exclusive. It was only the timed edition and that's it. Unless they do a variant or something that was all there's gonna be.
>>11599782I asked them also a couple weeks ago, their answer was actually "I don't know! Keep up with news from Mondo for updates." The idk was verbatim, the rest is in the same vein.
>>11599761>>11599765>>11599776We better be careful. I think that the jannies are on a power trip. Anons weren't hyping up vintage collection Mer Man, or the movie, enough. Daddy Mattel has been pouring big bucks into these threads lately and couldn't stand the sorry state of afairs.
>>11599860>Daddy Mattel has been pouring big bucks into these threads lately and couldn't stand the sorry state of afairs. No we haven't.
>>11599867You...you do this for free?
>>11599881They are paying you all?I agreed as long as they released TwoBad in Origins. Mattel said I could quit once he's released.......hey wait a minute
Eldor, Dragstor, Great Black Wizard cock, when the fuck are we gonna get one on MC? Even just the wait for scorpion guy took forever
>>11599782>>11599848Probably because it's a Staction design and Mattel still has those in some kind of unholy copyright grip.
You know if it wasn't for year '86 Masterverse would really be catching up to Origins. One line has Two-Bad, Gwildor and Blade, the other has Sssqueeze, Snake Face and Modulok. Origins only wins by variants (Dragon Blaster Skeletor and Buzz Saw Hordak). >>11599940Eldor is apparently 18 Nov. Dragstor probably Dec. Find a way to keep yourself busy till then, I guess.
I loved that joke where kid asked Ram Man how we turns his head. Obviously unintended but feels like commentary on limited articulation on Ram Man toys.
>>11600113I really doubt it because unless my memory is really faulty, MC doesn't put up anything except maybe some Hot Wheels in Dec. I don't recall a single Dec MotU release they ve ever done so I'm putting my money all on "nothing in Dec, Dragstor in Jan"
>>11600118"Ram Man, how do you raise your arms?""Uh, see, what I do...see uh...the thing is...I manage."
>>11600118being able to turn his head would increase the risk of injury when he rams things.
>>11600121He wasn't the first Ram Man...the original Ram Man now goes by "Mekaneck"
>>11600128kek
Who knew using self-inducing brain damage as your main offence strategy comes with occupational hazard?
I wonder if they'll reuse Cringer's buck to make 200X Battle Cat and Panthor. You think there would be interest?
>>11600135didn't they already announce Panthor-man for the Battle Cats of greyskull line?
>>11599752>like someone made AI lewds of Andra and Madam Razz
Picked all these up today. Also got Skell-ra the other day.
Im becoming more convinced we'll get all movie figures in one packGwildor was always disappointing. Now he'll have poor articulation and most of his parts wont work for swaps. Blade is simple enough with some parts reuse. And Saurod will disappoint gimmick fans with Khan treatment. So why not put them together? Diehard Saurod fans will have to get other two get him increasing sales.May or may not add Karg to make pack more attractive.
>>11600149I only have nostalgia for Saurod, and already came to accept the fact he won't have an action feature. I remember when the Sparking Rollerblade Barbie got recalled, so even if every figure still had their action figure, I knew he wouldn't.I didn't own bootleg Ninjor or Space Willow, so if I have to buy all 3 to get Saurod, I'm not getting any. Fuck them.>May or may not add Karg to make pack more attractiveDon't you fucking dare give them any ideas. If any Mattel exec reads this and the idea even crosses your mind, I will convince Kim Jong Un to aim his missiles directly at El Segundo.
>>11600149You're making the assumption that they're going to just release those 3 and nothing else I think they're more likely to do a mix of what CC and Masterverse are doing.Release 1987 as a subline like MV, but it's the MAIN subline that takes over retail like CC. Then they'll release He-Man, Skeletor, God Skeletor,Teela, Evil-lyn, Beast Man, Man-At-Arms and Sorceress. Gwildor will get put in a two pack with "Battle Damage He-Man" from the final fight. Blade will be in the final retail wave. Then it'll get pulled for a new refresh without Saurod but they'll tell us "but don't worry, were not done with 1987 yet :)" which will be corpo speak for "Saurod will come out on MC in two years from now"
>>11600184I just dont know there are enough people nostalgic for the movie, compared to 200X or Filmation. And releasing dedicated MOTU movie brand so close to new movie would make branding confusing.
>>11600140Damn, your she ra looks great.
>>11600196Well, if not the main brand, then a "Target exclusive" brand or something to replace Sketchbook Series. SBS doesn't have THAT many known main cast variants to sustain a long term side line, and I think we all know it's not gonna dig into the OCs in any meaningful way, so it'll probably be over in a year or so and they can put out 1987 then while more cartoon collection takes the main retail line and everything else fights for space on MC
>>11600202The back of the skirt is really heavily stained red from the cape, but it's hidden by the skirt most of the time, so it's not that big a deal.
>>11600196>And releasing dedicated MOTU movie brand so close to new movie would make branding confusing.This.Also what if the 2026 movie isn't successful enough? I don't think Mattel is going to release a bunch of figures to retail celebrating an old movie that flopped. We'll be lucky if they don't break their promise to remake every vintage figure in Origins. I think a lot more is riding on the new movie's success than people here are accounting for.
>>11599940>EldorIs he confirmed as coming to MC?>Great Black WizardI hope we at least get Plasmar and he comes out first. I want to take pics of Plasmar going insane on the Snake Men.
>>11600281>I want to take pics of Plasmar going insane on the Snake Men.Plasmar hates the Snake Men.Zodak sat in his monastery being neutral until the Snake Men coming motivated him to fight.I bet we could assemble a little faction of anti-Snakes.
You fool, you foolI don't like spiders and snakesAnd that ain't what it takes to love me
>>11600286Saurod. He-Man, MAA and I guess Skeletor have special armors for snake killn>Even He-Man and Skeletor will put their differences aside to kill snakes>>11600281No, we know something Club-only is coming. If it's not him at least I'll know that Mattel is messing with us on purpose.
>>11600206Well her hair is what caught my eye, id take a small stain for hair that nice. What line is she from? L
What was the last fight that broke out on your shelve?
>>11600484When my wobbly Necro-Conda fell over and took out three rows of figures.
>>11600506pics or it's just slander against our glorious Snek-men
>>11600290>If it's not him at least I'll know that Mattel is messing with us on purposeYou know I really don't see where there's any appeal in EldorHe's a generic old man in a plain brown hoodie with book. That's just boring. I dunno about anyone else but I wouldn't feel "messed with" if it wasn't him. Worst case scenario would be swapping one uninteresting figure for another uninteresting figure.
>>11600296>What line is she from? She's from the 200X line. The hair is nice. There's glitter on the back of the cape and when I took her out of the zip lock back she came in, the hair was all tangled into it like velcro, but it came away fairly easily, and I was happy she came with her brush to fix it all.
>>11600597Hey fuck you he's a wizard Wait is he? I just assumed.
>>11600597It's not about Eldor. It's about what he represents - a simple promise.Mattel announced this years that they'll make 3 biggest Powers of Grayskull characters. PoG like has only 3 real characters, 2 if we're being honest because Sharella didnt had a prototype figure in the 80s.If they wont deliver now Eldor, they'll officially announcing they're dedicated to never finish anything. No more snarky comments, this is a statement. We're not giving you Two-Bad, Scorpia, Strobo, Thunderkittens, CC Kobra Khan, Marlena, Goat Man or whatever you feel you need to complete your collection. Enjoy CGI Cartoon Collection next year, we wont make Ram Ma'am.
>>11600484Terror claws skelly vs sketch book syklone. Some say that battle still rages on to this day, an eternal battle being contested on the floor.>>11600693Cool. Maybe i can find a decent one.
>>11600994What are you talking about?OF COURSE we'll make all those...New Etheria Scorpia, 200x Queen Marlena, we'll make the new movie Goat Man...and we already gave you TWO Two Bads, in Masterverse and Cartoon Collection! Enjoy and you're welcome!
>>11601037>Cool. Maybe i can find a decent one.Decided I'll share some photos I took. Had to put her on a stand, I don't know if it's just how she was packed over the years warping the legs, or the natural way they are, but she cannot stand for long periods of time. I've tweaked her stance and put her on a solid surface and eventually she just topples. I appreciate the Four Horsemen sculpting the figures into really intersting, dynamic poses, but the way they did the legs really fucks the centre of gravity. That said, she looks awesome and a surprising side-effect her cape being creased by storage, it constantly looks like it's billowing.
>>11601151This figure retains the original figure's brushable hair feature, including a comb. I wish there was a way to store the comb on the figure, either under the cape or maybe slotted into a boot like a boot knife.
>>11601153Here is a shot of the staining on the back of the skirt. I've tried using isopropyl alcohol to remove the stain, but no luck. There is also some mild staining to the hair as well. Fortunately the staining is not easily visible most of the time.
>>11601156And here is a shot with her brother. The two look fantastic together. Honestly either figure looks good on its own, but together they both make each other seem grander, at least to me.Hope folks enjoy these pictures, sorry that aren't higher resolution, the sharpness on my phone's camera seems to be getting worse.
>>11601153I also want to make a note here for other anons, the headband is glued to the head, so if a strand of hair manages to snake its way out of the headband, or you try and comb them out, you will be in for a hell of a time trying to get them back into place.
>>11600484Well right now I have the Snakemen, Skeletor and He-Man and She-Ra teaming up for whatever reason to bust King Hiss out of the Fright Zone prison, and it's not going too well for them. The Horde isn't even sending most of their heavy hitters and despite aggressive hug therapy from Sssqueeze, the "heroes" are about to be overrun by Horde Troopers.
>>11599848They gave me the same response. Def a bot or something.
>>11601151Thanks (you). I have nothing to add or insights to share. But this good content while I was on the toilet and feel the knowledge might be useful next time I run into one of these at a thrift store.
Has there ever been a toy of a green skeleton I can stick a skeletor head on to make a full skeleton skeletor? Or has anyone done a custom like this? I just need to see a full skeleton skeletor for some reason.
>>11601153I was born right after the 80s so its crazy to me fantasy and he man were so popular it could spinoff into a doll line and I'm assuming it was successful?
>>11601770The story from Mattel is that He-Man had such a large female fanbase that they decided to create She-Ra to try and capitalise on it. Depending on who you ask, She-Ra killed MOTU the first time because boys thought it was lame now that their little sisters were playing with the figures. Though most likely She-Ra just came about right as the franchise was already falling out of popularity.
You know what I never got about 200X? How Castle Grayskull wasn't renowned legendary center of the universe and Skeletor's lifelong obsession, it was Power of Elders that mattered and characters realized it lies in Grayskull only at the start of the series. So everyone assumes that huge stone fortress with a skull is just some ruin, no one pays attention to it and no kids (despite having flying vehicles) ever went to play in it. Weird.
>>11601778 #It was more that the motu show crossed over to spop. Less and less adventures occurred in motu and more and more occurred to in spop. And the world of spop was more female centric. It was like some one stole your he-man and gave it to your sister
>>11601839If I remember correctly, She-Ra was a follow-up to He-Man instead of a concurrent series which might've had something to do with it.
>>11601862You're not wrong, but there was a 2 month transition period when both were airing.
>>11601156Boy, you werent kidding about the stain. Atleast the cape hides it. >>11601769Theres the gitd skeleton warriors two pack. Idk if thats what youre looking for though.
>>11601778The years 1985 and 1986 were the peak of MotU's success, and She-Ra was around as of March 22, 1985. If little boys thought He-Man wasn't cool anymore because their sisters were saying they have the Power of Grayskull now, 85 sales would have been worse than 84.>>11601862>>11601870MotU was a victim of its own success as the first toy line advertised by a cartoon. Filmation helped fund a 65-episode package for syndication right at the beginning. TV stations paid their maximum for shows with 100 episodes, so other companies paced themselves so it took several years of toys to reach that number. Filmation would have gone bankrupt making more MotU episodes than they actually did (130 rather than 100), lacking continuing revenue from TV stations to pay the writers and artists. He-Man urgently needed a spinoff with a new name because of the economics of TV.
This "How dare you check out my butt!" pose would be funnier if this was Scorpia instead of a dude.
>>11601974Just ordered him and Hurricane Hordak. He's my first OC origins pick up and I can't wait to add him to my Horde boys! Still hope we see Scorpia one day, and Entrapta.
>>11601974hopefully he stays ups until the next origins figure drop. hate to pay shipping on just one fig.
Here's our next MOTU Origins collab guys.
>>11602159The shipping always seems a bit overpriced. $8 for me for two figures. It coming directly from Mattel I would think the shipping should be cheaper.>>11602165I would actually be fine with a 3 pack of them in Origins and that be it.
>>11602159Me too but because ive blown my fun budget already. Dude looks pretty nasty, so i like it and i wouldnt mind an extra he ro or maybe even the jungle girl but shes a low priority.
>>11602159I wouldn't worry, pretty much nothing sells out anymore. I'm thinking my new rule for MC is to only actually buy and ship when there's a vintage figure since those are priority #1. So I'll hold off until Dragstor and ship them all together then wait for the next vintage and buy whatever releases between Dragstor and whatever the next one is at that time Unless the next vintage is Stonedar, then I'll wait for the one after
I haven't noticed anyone talk about it, but I just noticed this on the Stingor page on MCApparently this is his lore, he's a Starscream
>>11603026>commander of vast insect legions>is an arachnidBoy, I sure hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
>>11603028Not if he's a scorpion FLY.Maybe his wings got ripped offAlso scorpion fly "tails" are their penises.
Some german already posted review.Germans for some reason really love franchise about blonde ubermanch wearing Iron Cross.
Latest minicomic has an important wisdom I haven't heard before"Every poison has an ANECDOTE"
>>11603275And people will still say the comics have value and complain about the idea of them ending. They fucking deserve to be shit canned
>>11603170Teutonic bood memory is pobably a significant part of the fascination. Germany, along with Spain, Italy and for ominous reasons Argentina kept MotU on life support for years, same with Star Wars. Like Japan with Transformers. For the most part it's the European love for mythology I would assume. Some things just click.
How would you feel if Mattel tried making more Sting-Ors?Meaning - blatant knockoffs of demanded characters only on cheaper tooling but objectively speaking kinda cooler.
>>11603026damn that's boring. Id like him more if he was a guy who got left behind on Eternia when Adora was kidnapped.
>>11603324I guess it depends on what character we're talking about.Stingor really works for me because I never liked Scorpia in the first place. And I that same vein, knock offs of Lizard Man and Icer would probably catch me equally as well. It's harder to say for a character I actually like...Like I'm a big fan of Strongarm, and I dislike Cartoon Collection aesthetic, but I can't even imagine how a vintage styled knock-off could possibly top him
>>11603324>blatant knockoffs of demanded characters only on cheaper tooling but objectively speaking kinda cooler.So... mix up some male parts that look cool, put 4 tentacles on his back and name him Octavian?
>>11603324 Is that you, Fuerza-T anon?
>>11603028>Boy, I sure hope somebody got fired for that blunder.kek standards at nuMattel.
>>11603552No but I endorse the idea
>>11603303>for ominous reasons ArgentinaWhat....what do you mean by ominous reasons?
>>11603303>ItalyThat reminds me Italy had the license to Jeeg and made Heman like toys by giving them Warrior or cowboy heads or something. Italy is crazy. Some actually just had Jeeg bodies
>>11603584
>>11603584>>11603585I might have completely imagined there were cowboys nevermind.
>>11603584>>11603585Awesome, I've never seen these before. If I was rich I'd have a huge collection of obscure bootlegs.
>>11603584>>11603585It's worth noting these guys came about because Italy adored Micronauts. As MEGO went under, Gigi kept their portion of the property going for years. The Fantanauti are effectively the culmination of a decade worth of Italy's biggest toy fads coming together as one (Micronauts, Nagai super robots, and MOTU).
Do you think that there should be more figures like Panthor that should get Deluxe and non-Deluxe versions? Something like unflocked Moss Man or one Laser Light Skeletor with articulation and one with working gimmick.
>>11603587Cosmic Cowboys? An X-Changers spin-off.
>>11603655Holy shit I found a picture.
>>11603674Why do they have Baron Karza bodies?
Do anons have a preference for He-Man's chest logo? Do you like one of the newer versions or are you a die-hard iron cross fan? Do you like them all basically the same or is there are a specific ranking?Personally I really like the fused H/M that they introduced with the Battle Armor. I just think it makes for a great logo/symbol. I also really like the 2021 CGI series version that uses the H and M to make a sword. I think that's really clever. I don't like the 200X symbol, it just looks like they went as far as "it needs to not look like the Iron Cross anymore" and stopped putting effort in after that (yet still basically put the Iron Cross on his belt."
>>11603709The post-Iron Cross vintage logo is nostalgic for me because Flying Fists He-Man was what was most available when I was a preschool boy.Iron Cross = HM > sword >>> 2002 asterisk
>>11603709Die-hard iron cross fan. If we have to shake things up use the 200X cross. The giant "H" looks stupid.
>>11603687Because Gigi was still using the micronauts molds
>>11603825This. IC > 200X >nothing else matters
>>11603709I never saw it as a "logo"it's not like there are red iron crosses all over the vehicles, on flags, etc.it would be silly to think he'd put a logo right in the middle of himself like that.the iron cross is the only answer, because it's not a "logo" merely an armor decorationI do understand the concept of wanting a recognizable, marketable, symbol to rally around. think about poor G.I.Joe. the bad guys Cobra have a sweet logo but the good guys never got one, and it's too late now. anything new they try just feels like a weak cope
>>11603709I like the cross the best for the same reason as >>11603846.He-Man having a logo like a super hero just annoys me.
>>11603723Asterisk just makes me think about this Mini Marvels page.
>>11603709I like the Iron Cross for normal He-Man, but prefer to see the Battle Armour's 'H' on other forms
>>11603709Why did he have an Iron Cross on his chest in the first place?
>>11604222>checked the power of those digitsIron Cross/H>>>Sword/AsteriskThe sword has a clever idea. However it still fails because the idea doesn't follow into a nice looking logo. The gray stuff makes it look to heavy and make its look different from the others. But if you take that shit away it just looks like a sword. I like the concept but end product is boring. Asterisk is just whatever with me. It looks vagualy celtic? If I don't think too hard about I forget that its not an Iron Cross.Whoever mentioned Flying Fists nailed it for me to. That was my main He-Man toy so the H looks right. Then the Golden Books and comics where there for me and that was always regular He-Man with his Iron Cross. Either one looks correct to me.>>11604239He's Chud coded.
>>11600597What I wanna know is, if they do make Eldor in Origins, will he actually have the holographic book his vintage toy was intended to come with? The Super 7 one just came with some stickers and used that weird folding plastic mechanism to make the pictures "change".
>>11603846>I never saw it as a "logo">it's not like there are red iron crosses all over the vehicles, on flags, etc.It comes down to which version of his origin we're dealing with. In the original mini-comic the harness was not designed specifically for him, it was just something the Green Goddess had lying around and gifted it to him. He-Man just looks like that all the time even without the harness, but the Filmation origin, the harness and all is specifically his. Though I admit one could make an argument that he is just wearing the attire of "defender of Grayskull" and anyone wielding the power would have that outfit. But then you could also make the argument that anything tied to Grayskull should also have the cross.Really it's all just a byproduct of designing the characters and then figuring out the lore.
>>11603584>>11603585very nice. i especially like the green guy
>>11604239The Iron Cross is a European military award (originally given to people who fought against Napoleon) derived from the Templar Cross/cross pattée. I can't find anything concrete as to why it was added to He-Man specifically, but most likely it was added because it has a European history of strength and also by the 80s it had been adopted as a counter-culture symbol of rebellion in both biker and heavy metal groups. So Mark Taylor probably just thought it looked cool. The Iron Cross itself was adopted by the Nazis during WW2 (adding in the Swastika) so it does have a vague connection to that, but it's not recognised specifically as a Nazi symbol unless it has the Swastika attached, but there is probably enough people out there that looked at it side-ways that Mattel thought it was probably a good idea to phase it out and replace it with the HM logo on Battle Armor and Flying Fists and also try to push something more easily trade-marked. Now days most people aren't even really that aware of the Iron Cross' history or tenuous Nazi connotations so Mattel probably doesn't give much of a shit.Though given that they used to HM logo on the harness for Revelation, I wouldn't be surprised if they were a little worried about the Netflix demographic bitching on Twitter about "Nazi propaganda." TL:DR - Who the fuck knows? He probably wears it because it looks cool and vaguely Germanic barbarian-y.

Good news, but bad news for vintage origins collectors. We wont see Two-Bad for another 5 years as they continue pumping out OCs for the vintage line and sprinkling the last few og figures here and there to prop up hope. I'm just hoping they go all out with Origins '87 movie figures like they been doing for Masterverse. Street Shark collab is inevitable at this point and the first DC figs mattel offers is definitely going to be origins buck since it's considered basic kid friendly style.
>>11604690>Street Shark collab is inevitable at this pointI'll believe that when we finally see waves 3 & 4 of the 30th Anniversary figures up for preorder.
>>11604690Id really liked the Street Sharks collab if it means we get the remaining figures released through it.
>2025>still no Origins Fuerza T figuresplease mattel....
>>11604467Obviously you need to buy two Stingors. You'll also get extra tail extensions.

my scarescream and stingor shipped. I'm going to be autistic and blogpost my headcanons for them>Scarescream is the result of a wicked experiment by Megatron. Having caught Skeletor's spy, Megatron has bound the ghost to his powermaster technology- turning Scarescream into a battery for his troops. After bonding to Starscream, the spook has taken on Starscream's weapon systems and managed to escape after regaining autonomy.>Sting-Or was one of Hordak's many pets. A wicked beast from a remote world, he was brought in to the Horde as a slave. He would accompany his master to Eternia, but ultimately get left behind in a suicide mission to abduct the children of Randor. Sting-Or would survive by fleeing into the depths of Eternos' sewer systems, while his role in the Horde would be filled by Grizzlor. He was last seen following in his master's footsteps by recruiting his own horde of evil.

Well I think I'm definitely passing on Multi-BotI already found Modulok to be one of the bigger disappointments of Origins with the way they realized him as a mess of connector piecesAnd then I see this on the box...doing the "mecha shiva" configuration with one torso on the other was one of my faves with vintage Multi-Bot, and here we go, you need an awkward looking stick between the torsos to make it. I mean, I expected it, but seeing it is still disappointing I think Multi Bot and Modulok in Origins are really only appealing to the types that just leave them in the standard "front of the box" set up and stick them on the shelf
>>11611477I assembled mine into a more filmation-ish look, and intend to do the same with multibot. All the leftover parts can then be combined into a third creature.

>>11612832I got all of the Skeletor figures, the snake throne, and a He-Man from the two pack with Skeletor and the drone. I liked the show a lot but couldn't do the full line at the time, so I just focused on Skeletor since my collection features him the most. I like the figures but the limited articulation in the shoulders hinders a lot of the fun I tried to have when messing with them. The Savage Eternia Skeletor does have added shoulder movement and it's enough to make him an enjoyable figure.
Can you take Sheras top off? It's for part swapping reasons I swear.
>>11614093I mean this she ra
>>11614093>>11614094No, the top is sculpted and painted on. Obviously the parts are Origins compatible though, so if you find another figure with the right skin tones and removable top you should be right. I have tried CC Teela, Frosta and Catra. None are a match for skin tone, She-Ra is surprisingly orange.
They're going to be putting out pictures books to coincide with the new filmOne will be titled "Skeletor has No Friends". Kek, this kinda reminds me of the minicomic from that MC exclusive with the Skeletor "bat-mite" type character. Forget what the set was called

>>11614328You're not wrong to be pessimistic, but BA has one thing Strobo doesn't...status as a true vintage figure. And BA doesn't exactly have very many credible competitors to take a slot from him. I think we all generally agree that movie, Zoids and giants are probably not gonna show up very soon. That just leaves the Laser guys, Stonedar and Two Bad. And if I'm Mattel, I think Two Bad, Blast Attak and one of the lasers are the most appealing options from a "can I reuse anything" perspective
>>11614238>>11614240Loin cloth anint soft goods so no horsey for him. Still getting him though, I just like the overall design. That skull head will be perfect for the Skelton Mage from the multipack box art too.
>>11614337Fair point on Strobo vs BA. The only part of your prediction I disagree with is the Laser guys coming anytime soon. I've got a feeling they will be the very last regular figures in the line. Next year will be BA, Stonedar and Two Bad, with maybe Strobo and Plasmar to fill the gaps along with a few other things we know are coming like Horde Extendar and the Red Khan repaint. 2027 will be the movie guys, including the unmadee ones like Karg and Trooper. 2028 will be Zoids, maybe the giants, and the Laser guys as the endcap for the vintage line.

>>11614429>I can fully understand how their market predominance would get grating. This is the average break down of a toy section at most retailers (top down view), and most of it is shelf-warming shit, like for Transformers, at least half the figures are Earthspark one-step changers and those Optimus head flip figures. The Marvel toys are titan heroes or those multipacks of figures with 5POA, no Marvel Legends at all. And it's not densely packed, everything in the entire section would take up one side if it was all put together neat and tight. The whole Pokemon stock would fit in a decent sized duffle bag. Toy shopping in Australia sucks ass. This is the main "boys section" flanked by Hot wheels for an entire aisle on one side and Lego on the other.

>>11614470The story goes the 1987 crew wanted Kirby onboard as both set and costume designer but somebody higher up (maybe Golan himself?) rejected the idea. We were so close to getting Kirby to work on MOTU. Best we could hope for now is Tom Scioli. >>11614732There's a few factors at play, firstly, despite being so close to China and them being one of our major trading partners, all toys are shipped to the US first and then brought over to us for some fucking reason. The next is because despite our large land mass, our population is fairly small (about 27.5 million in the whole country) so a lot of toy companies don't really view us as a particularly significant market. The biggest issue though is our retailers have to purchase the product from the distributors, rather than being allocated stock, even most of our dedicated toy stores are just franchises with individual store owners. So they are really picky about what they want to sell and will usually just stick with what sells easily. For example when the Power Rangers Lightning Collection came out, most stores got the first wave, which shelf-warmed super hard here, which meant they didn't bother buying the next wave, because as far as management was concerned there was Power Ranger stock still on the shelf. If something doesn't move, then it takes YEARS before a retailer will put it on discount. They also tend to order in really low numbers, usually around two cases per store, which means if there is an undesirable figure in a wave, then that one figure will stay on the shelf for years and there will not be another wave until that figure is gone. All that combined makes it a total crapshoot as to what is available in stores, so most stores don't get repeat customers buying up stock. If I want to buy MOTU my first thought is to look online, because I can tell you of the 8 major retail stores that carry toys within driving distance I know exactly what MOTU stock they have on hand, and 90% of it is CC Grizzlor.

>>11615572I won't go as far as to shit on Keldor as a whole, because there are times I liked it (like CGI) BUT it does not belong in the Filmation CC or it's minicomics. This shit is supposed to specifically be an 80s toon circle jerk, and the 80s toon did not feature the Keldor origin. What they're doing with this is the same kind of bullshit "one true canon" forcing everything together that Scott did in his bios. You can let different continuities be different continuities.

>>11615572The fault is Scott's for setting the precedent for MotU guys working on these things with all the assinine lore from MotU classics. I wonder if this guy has a problem with Grayskull too. I know I do and people in this thread. Making him black because Kevin Smith's Heman was fucking weird too. It's fine for their seperate continuities but I dont get why people want to mash them together. We are literally getting 200x toys now. I wonder if we will even get a 200x Grayskull now because hes white. Companies can be weird about that shit.Best lore is the pre cartoon stuff and mini comic and unused concepts for me. Like how Skeletor was thrown into the castle koat and Castle Greyskull was he bead of a giant. Even when a new continuity mashes stuff up it doesnt bother me as much like Kevin Smith's shit having movie shit, Green Goddess shit etc. But retconning it in Origins rubs me the wrong way.
>>11615637I used to be in that discord but it devolved into irl politics too much>>11615642>castle grayskull was the head of a giantThats fucking awesome how have i never heard that before
Anons, I don't know if I'm seeking input or catharsis but I have been so burnt out on MoTu. The figures I bought this year were so far and few inbetween, and the few things that have excited me, which have really just been the concept art figures, just feel bogged down by my current collection. I've been playing with the idea of selling the remainder of my collection after getting rid of a bulk of the exclusives, told myself "see how you feel in 6 months" back in May, and I feel no different. Even the idea of selling these feels burdensome, the idea of regretting it is irritating, but the fact is I haven't touched this stuff in half a year. It feels weird parting with a thing that I've grown accustomed to having around and found genuine excitement and enthusiasm in before, despite the fact it's just plastic and a product. But I feel that time is up.
>>11615649>Thats fucking awesome how have i never heard that beforehttps://battleramblog.com/tag/castle-grayskull/>Castle Grayskull was not built as such, but grown mystically by unknown beings many eons before humans existed. Originally Castle Grayskull was a giant that sunk into the ground. It is the head of the giant that is partially visible and some parts on the head that were his “armor.”It’s always possible that this giant could come back to life someday!>Some ancient civilization realized that the skull was a place of power, so they built the castle around it.>Just being near the Castle can sap life force. Entering the Castle has the potential to enhance your power, but it is also draining to the soul. For that reason, those who would wish to exploit the Castle’s power should not take up long-term residency there. Distance helps for relief and recuperation. Extended habitation causes personality changes and can be very dangerous to those around the affected individual.>There is nothing typical about Castle Grayskull. At first glance its interior and exterior look vaguely like a medieval castle, but this fortress bridges time and space. >Castle Grayskull is located in the center of a moat that is toxic to most living creatures. There are living inhabitants of the moat, which are both strange and dangerous.>The Castle itself has seven floors beneath the level of the moat. As you descend each level, reality, time and space become more and more distorted.>Inside Grayskull is a Space Suit and other weapons and armory. These were left by a technologically-advanced race who came to the land in flying saucers. These beings had mysteriously left long, long ago. So Grayskull was a dead place with nobody living inside it or “guardian” for it either. There was always the possibility that these beings could return someday.I had to cut out all the info about the dimensions of the castle to fit in a comment.
>>11615726>A secret code is required to get the elevator inside the castle to take you down to the levels under the castle. Each successive level brings more power and also more danger.>There are physical and magical traps hidden throughout the castle. The trap door leads to the first level basement. It also conceals clues to the secret password for the elevator.>Grayskull extends into the space/time continuum in the lake bedrock. The levels below the weapons storage room start with all the weapons that exist within one century each way from the present, the floor below that within five centuries each way, and so on.
>>11615728Thst blog ha also much concept lore from Mark Taylor that you could consider canon for the sketchbook toys or just adopt it as headcanon its insane. I can't post it here but here's the last part about Greyskull.>The Pit of Souls [also variously referred to as the Well of Souls or Dwell of Souls] is a dungeon containing undying monsters from the beginning and end of time that also extends into the time and space continuum – possibly by means of a miniature black hole. The powers of the castle are linked to these evil prisoners.>Getting the monsters trapped in the Dwell of Souls required luring monsters into the pit with sacrificial human victims. The monsters would then be trapped in the pit. The king [He-Man’s father] who oversaw this effort could use those trapped monsters as leverage against all other Kings in the land, threatening to release them if he didn’t get his way.I want this fucking asshole demon summoner Randoe lol.
>>11615718Store it out of sight until like Jan, see if you feel the same. You'll possibly reap the benefits of post Xmas money and early tax refund season people.
>>11615642I take my fucking post/opinion back a little bit for the Keldor shit. I forgot the original concept for Skeletor was that he was a human who was thrown in the pit of souls to become Skeletor and made his out of the Eyelid of a dragon for some reason. His mom was in a harem with Heman's mom for King Randor and she tried to Kill Hemans mom. And when she found out her son was skeletor killed herself. Tying it superficially into the well of souls and all that crazy castle Greyskull lore makes it better than 200x though.
I think Mark Taylor implied Ram Man is a fucking ancient alien and Man E Faces uses the faces of monsters. (I'm just totally guessing he said clues to their origin is in castle Greyskull and concept ram man looks like the astronaut suit.) this lore is nuts. I'll stop posting now this just awoken my love for Heman lore again.
>>11615023He looks good!I'm still wanting CC Adora and Sorceress. They have to make them eventually. It is only a matter of time.>>11615572Agreed even though I like Keldor as a design. He's more of a 'what if' in my head canon.
>>11615726>>11615728>>11615730>>11615736Thanks for sharing anon, the early pre-filmation toy/mini-comic lore is so weird and interesting. The idea of Castle Grayskull as a mysterious ancient fortress built out of the remains of an unknown giant that warps time and space as you descend deeper into it's depths is awesome.

>>11615649I'm still there and I don't recall that happening. My issue is there is not a lot of motu talk in the motu discord.
>>11615572The family dynamic of keldor is way better than the plain story of him being a demon from another dimension. Maybe if that story was expanded on, but it really never is. I mean from that point of view he might as well be an alien or one of the mole people for how much it impacts the story. Where as keldor has motivation and underlying themes and tones that can be played off of, and has been in various properties.
>>11615649Is that what happened to Tytus? Is he Castle Grayskull?>>11615572Morbid curiosity makes me want to see how they fucked up this minicomic..I'd like to say MOTU is big enough franchise for multiple interpretation bur that is only true for how you play with your toys. For adaptations we're never getting versions without Keldor or Adam...Even Revolution started with demon only to plottwist Keldor in. Hell, Marvel is huge and it struggles to make versions without MCU infection what are suppose to say.
>>11615584>Also should i watch CGI show?Definitely. I know other anons have their preferences, but for my money it is the best MOTU series. It's obvious that the people working on it genuinely care about the franchise, and while they aren't afraid to go in different directions with the characters and designs, you can tell that MOTU was the starting point, rather than trying to take something original and re-skin it with MOTU.I also think it's the best version of Skeletor, he's intelligent and cunning enough to take him seriously as a thread, but the character himself is having such a good time with his new powers that it lets him have moments where he is goofy like the original.I definitely recommend I, Skeletor if you feel like some light reading.
>>11615642>>11615649>castle grayskull was the head of a giantIn the rare instances you see the rear of Castle Grayskull, they do include a spinal column. The original carton also had arms/legs coming off the sides. The CGI series was interesting in that it hints that the castle is actually some kind of spaceship.

For that reason, those who would wish to exploit the Castle’s power should not take up long-term residency there. This is the one bit that I don't really like, it just feels like an attempt to explain away why He-Man doesn't just live in the castle full-time to keep Skeletor out.

I had a dream about the heman movie trailer. It was... mid. CGI orko looked terrible, and Jared's skeletor looked like a halloween costume. It's driving me crazy not knowing what he will look like.
>>11616438It's definitely a cool idea, it just doesn't really mesh well with the whole "controlling Castle Grayskull is the ultimate goal" if nobody can actually take control.
>>11616808>source: it was revealed to me in a dreamEnhance your calm, anon. I'm sure the trailer is coming soon (a kick to the shins for the anon promising it would be out the Monday after NYCC). All will be revealed.
>>11616374>>11616788The only thing that bugs me is the lack of bare legs for the Adora mode. It's not a deal breaker, but let's be honest, a big part of Adora/She-Ra's appeal on a visual level is how leggy she is.What are the chances Mattel pulls a sneaky and casts the legs in skin tone plastic and just paints the pants on?
>>11617234Or just swap them yourself with some other bare-legs Masterverse release?
>>11617259I haven't tried part-swapping with Masterverse, is it a simple boil and pop or does it take some finagling? Though I'm not sure I want to sacrifice an entire figure just to do some legs.

>>11618409She looks like she'd be a good female companion for Hordak. Honestly the Horde is a bit of a sausage fest.
>In his first appearance he has a nephes same age as Adam who canonically ages>In his third appearance he claimed to be around for thousands of years What was Marzo's deal? Is he just pathological liar?>>11619152I thought Horde has more female members than any faction other that Great Rebellion.
>>11619152>>11619158Being a vintage purist is the only situation in which Horde is a sausagefest
>>11619158>I thought Horde has more female members than any factionYou're right, I totally spaced on Scorpia and Shadow Weaver. Catra doesn't really count in my head because I still think of the mini-comics where she was doing her own thing. Was Catra supposed to be She-Ra's big bad, then that got switched to Hordak by the cartoon?
>>11619169It's hard to say because the She-Ra cartoon and toyline were developed concurrently. The only things I'd be confident in saying are 1) Hordak was always intended as the big bad from Filmations perspective2) Mattel always intended to include Hordak in the MotU line instead of the PoP lineCatra being the main villain in the minicomics is probably more a "she just defaulted to the role because all other villains were MotU", but I have no actual proof of that other than my gut feeling. It's like Mattel and Filmation developed Sge-Ra together, but then didn't consult each other on what the other was intending to do with the characters
>>11619152>>11618409You're touching on something I think about often. Most of the vintage figures each have a very specific ROLES that can encourage play patterns. For example: Clamp Champ the bodyguard would probably have a lot of work to do protecting your King Randor from all the baddies. All these new jobbers Mattel shits out tend to lack this. A good example is Frog Monger being like a black market guy doesn't really encourage play. If we approach Crimson Countess with this angle, I'd suggest she be a vampire warrior princess who sucks the blood of any faction member.
>>11619213>I'd suggest she be a vampireI'm very much on the "Hordak is eldritch Dracula" hill, so having the Countess also be a vampire works as a companion for him in the same way Skeletor is technically an evil sorcerer and Evil-Lyn also uses magic (Skeletor xEvil-Lyn will always be canon in my brain). And on top of that, at least for my play purposes the Horde should be a counter balance to She-Ra's group. She-Ra's team are all nature and love and happy dreams, The Horde should all be horror and nightmares.

>>11619284That's a lot of evil women to like.
>>11619218>I'm very much on the "Hordak is eldritch DraculaThere's some potential for female equivalents if you believe this.>Unreleased Mummy Guy whose name I forget that should totally have been released over scorpion dude Clepatro or Sphinx >Multibot or Modulok>Vaguely FrakensteinBride of Multibot or ModulokThat's all I got the universal monsters usually just human women. Theres a lot more potential for horde guys if you make more like an invisible analog and creature from the deep analog.Kind of unrelated but Dragstor could get a Catherine parody waifu.
>>11619284>MotherboardI haven't watched Revolution is Motherboard Horde or her own faction?
>>11619438https://youtu.be/YLhtAyyYM0E?si=B1pgX55pU6Hd-PfWHere's your answer
We should totally start shipping Succubug with Buzz-Off so that we can call the pairing Succu-Off
>>11619445Well that's vaguely disappointing. As was discussed in an early thread, it would be nice to introduce another enemy faction into MOTU, and there is potential here to do something interesting. Every other bad guy faction bases its power in magic, it'd be cool to see an enemy that represents the use of technology for evil. MOTU is a Science-Fantasy franchise after all, I think it's time we stopped leaning so hard on the fantasy side of things.
>>11619485I think the problem with a new faction is that it would be hard to make them stand out without also limiting their theme. The snakemen all being snakes is a good example. They're all just snakes. It's boring. The Horde, however, is great because the theme is just scarier monsters than Skeletor's lot of lunatics, and can get into fights with He-Man OR Skeletor. This is also why I love the CGI kid show, because Stratos eventually fucks off and forms his own group of misfits. (Even if they don't get to do anything.)If there's ever a new faction to MOTU it needs to be vague enough to be anything, like the space mutants of New Adventures.
>>11619213She's Mosquitor's waifu. She sucks him dry everynight. It's why his power is draining blood from other people in large quantities.
>>11619501>it would be hard to make them stand out without also limiting their theme.I don't see why that's a bad thing. You could go the Borg route and have them trying to convert everything to technology, maybe even make them anti-magic. Maybe mix in some zombie elements and have it be a techno-virus.
>>11619501I wish the Anti Eternia versions weren't just red and evil. Because you cant really do much of a Mirror Universe/Shattered Glass thing with them with them all being evil black recolors. Although maybe there's more to the story I don't know about that makes it more interesting or at least fun for variants. It could be a new faction
>>11617574the iceman cometh
>>11619553I think it works better if you don't view it like the mirror universe thing where they're just evil because they're opposite, but more like a purposeful cosmic balance thing. If we consider the idea that Grayskull came about because some ancient race of cosmic beings made it, what if there were those that opposed them, and they worship death and destruction because they find it beautiful or something. Anti-Eternia He-Man doesn't exist because he's just the opposite dimension version of He-Man, he was specifically created to oppose He-Man, both physically and ideologically. Also maybe they're all black and red because light reflects differently on their skin, like how the light is weird on Giedi Prime in Dune.
>>11619579I just wish there was more variety I dont know. The castle and castle themed amour on the Masterverse is nice though. If they ever do any other's and add touches like that it'd like them more.
Another faction could be Rio Blast's former team. It's not like they need to all be in the same uniform. There's tons of desert cowboy bullshit you can pull from not to mention his bad guys. (Note Inhavent seen Beavestar so some of these might be repetitive)>mesoamerican warriors with some tech>more robot horses >old timey dame with tons of guns hidden under her dress >space Mexicans with hat guns>cactus aliens>if hes on a desert planet add egyptian pharaohs and shit why notThis sounds stupid the more I write it out but I'm sure someone could make it cooler. I remember last year someone had that whole pirate theme mapped out. Heman but X is a good idea. Except space because they fucked it up. >Old school Calvary robot
>>11619553Isn't the lore from the original German audio drama that Anti-He-Man comes from actual literal for real Hell?
>>11618259>>11618409>>11618526Are they stretching the concept art line to include fanart contest entries now? I'd rather they continue to use the actual vintage concept art like the Green Witch or Octavia. This generic vampire design does nothing for me.
>>11619599wait what why is it German?
When are we going to get Elephant and Lion?
>>11619643Because Germans got a bunch of audiobooks on tape in lieu of the cartoon?Honestly the only thing that bothers me about modern interpretations of Anti-Eternia is the look of Hellskull itself. In the story it's apparently not described in great detail but the face on it is described as "angelic" and I kind of wish they had gone with just that instead of trying to make it look more "evil" with the fangs and shit, and it really just were the pale, emotionless face of a beautiful woman but with the dead black eyes, I think the uncanniness would've made it look way spookier than the teeth do.
>>11619716MOTU's not big on subtlety, I guess.>>11619480I was ok with a fat chick, it makes her more odd-looking at least but then it turned out she has a that stupid sidecut.Id take women being bald at this point over that.
>>11619730I can smell exactly who made this character design
I just found a scare glow on Aliexpress for 29 dollars. Now to wait to see how fucked up it is when it gets here because it's a factory reject.
>>11619730Tried giving a shot at editing it, it's kinda crap but I think this would look better
>>11619730What I find retarded is that they kept none of the features from the Succubug concept design except for "is fat". Like this isn't even the same character Axel designed.(I'd post it but we're at image limit)
>>11619628Even if they do stretch it to that, I think most people would prefer the runner upsEye Beam and Mind Wave from the OG contest and Major Header, Bubblor and Three Beast from the Classics one
>>11619579Thought I'd take a shot at editing one of the promo shots to get that weird lighting look I was talking about. I'll add the picture in the next thread because apparently we're at capacity.
>>11619738>(I'd post it but we're at image limitI'd post it but fandom got even shittier now all their images are webps
>>11619480>>11619730>>11619738It's called Motu: Revolution because it's characters are revolting.
>>11619716>Because Germans got a bunch of audiobooks on tape in lieu of the cartoon? What? No, we had everything the US had, but ithe market was far from saturated, so a lot of european countries made their own stuff in addition. It was huge. I remember most vividly bakeries made birthday cakes with whole motu/ star wars figures as toppings.Even better, the 80's were the last time german voice acting was based before it all became 1to1/ just phone it in translations. A lot of shows had serious Ghost Stories vibes.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH8PfDVJiCQ
>>11619882Does anyone know if the German Audio Dramas are on youtube anywhere? I'm about to pass out and all I could find were youtubers talking about if and the German Dub for New Adventures https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLznt6Ya1cJCm1mepbiVLylPIXZa_HrDZY&si=6TXUtajDUFc116h-
>>11619894This one has a few complete episodes.https://www.youtube.com/@filmrisstv1660/search?query=motu
>>11619874You Revolut 360 degrees and walk away
>>11619794>now all their images are webpsWebp is a fucking cursed format and I hate it with every fibre of my being. I wouldn't be surprised if it exists just to make sharing and saving images harder to propagate the "you will own nothing and like it" agenda. Like they don't even want you to just save images so they make it annoying to do so in hopes you just won't.
