Is there a common toy scale more pointless than 1/10? Compared to 1/12, which has been around as a miniature scale since before mass-produced toys were even a thing, it's just different enough to not really fit alongside but not different enough to actually justify its own existence like 1/18 or 1/6. Genuinely seems like someone started making figures in that scale just to be different and somehow it stuck around. It's not so bad with toys of characters who are already huge anyway (McFarlane's Space Marines fit better with 1/12 than the humans in the rest of the McFarlane 40K line, who are big even by 1/10 standards) but with "regular" humans it gets kinda annoying. Just seems like a completely redundant scale that exists for the sake of existing.
>>
>>11600234
I get why it's pointless from a collector's perspective, but it's good as its own thing.
If we lived in a better world, 1/10 would be the standard for action figures. But it's not.
1/10 rc cars are nice tho. They fit 1/12 figures easily.

Crying about McFarlane with racist nazi toss memes won't help your cause

That is a good point- true-scale cars can be a bitch to fit figures into.
>>

don't slump me with 6inggers
1:18 is friends with 1:16 and 1:6

1:12 is literally faggot scale even called dollhouse scale lmao
>>
>>11600303
>1/16
Who the hell collects 1/16 action figures? Do they even exist?
>>
>>11600234
Who even makes 1:10 stuff nowadays outside of McFarlane and NECA?
>>
>>11600329
Don't know if you've been paying attention to the collector scene or not, but Mondo have been kicking a ton of ass with their high quality 1/6 action figures. Do you even collect toys?
>>
>>11600336
Some of Hasbro's stuff hews closer to 1/10 than 1/12.
>>11600338
Can you read?
>>
>>11600336
I can only think of Diamond Select (they did, anyways), IronStudios and Kotobukiya.

1:16 has some accesories/vehicles/playsets compatible with 1:18
>>
>>11600374
Great. And what are you going to put with these vehicles/playsets/accessories?
>>
>>11600338
I have the Mondo MacReady and the Mondo John Nada and while I’m happy to have them since they’re the only original representations of the characters in 1/6, by god they are terrible figures when compared with any other 1/6 company.

What grinds my gears is that all these chink companies making their Anime women inspired articulated figures marked as "1/12 scale" when if you really measure them closely (head size, scaled up height, length of limbs) it becomes super obvious the figures are actually 1/10 scale. I hate it and no amount of bullshit industry reasons will ever make me change my opinion.
>>
>>11600374
You know 1/18 is pretty common, right? More than 1/10 anyway.
>>
>>11600375
Figures, what kind of question is that?

>>11600381
Yes and???????????? There's some shit only available at 1:16 but still works with 1:18

>>
>>11600423
So does Todd. What's your point?
>>
>>11600377
It annoys me too because they will all height mog any 1/12 male figure you might want to put them next to. At least do some more different body types and girls will shorter legs like Grisa. Most are have the tall and skinny super model build

I don't know what you're expecting. That anon clearly has no coherent thoughts enough to post a reasonable explanation for being butthurt about 6"/1:12 scale.
>>
>>11600462
>mention 5 inch and 6 inch
>So does Todd
Which one does he do, 5 inch or 6 inch?
>>
>>11600471
6 inch for the B: TAS stuff. 5 inch for the IDW TMNT, SuperPowers and some Disney stuff. I'm not arguing about quality but he does do stuff in that scale.
>>
>>11600475
My point is every toy company does 6"/1:12 scale figures but not every company does 1/10 scale which is a very obvious holdover strategy of "bigger is better" to try and get kids begging their parents for toys with middling results.

They're absurdly long and the heads are wide to accommodate the movable eyes gimmick. Even among "larger" 6 inch western figures they are obviously rail thin giants.
>>
>>11600483
I wouldn'tmind some tall amazon ladies but yeah the large heads in proportion to their bodies makes them look like out of scale teenagers.
>>
1/10 scale sucks because they tower over 1/12 and are usually not compatible. Just stick to the standard.
But scaling in general sucks as the other anon says, companies do whatever the fuck they want most just take it literally that all figures should be 7" or 6" or whatever since it keeps costs down and you have inconsistencies in sizes, while only a few keep it in scale so characters that are taller/shorter are actually different sizes IN scale.
Only in those situations sometimes a 1/10 figures that is just that size and not "in scale" actually works with 1/12.

1:12 just looks too small. There's a reason why companies all creep up towards 1:10 and not the opposite.
The only downside is there's less accessories in scale for them.

Why are 1/12 scale called dolls, they're too fucking small? I collect 1/6 shit and those are more like dolls than anything.
>>
>>11600721
I thought stuff was far more likely to be called a doll if they have soft goods.

why is it always incels acting shocked and bewildered when their dolls are called dolls?
>>
>>11600730
How is it a doll if it doesn't have any soft goods? Same with girly stuff. If it doesn't have soft goods, like, hair even, it's a "figurine" or something.
>>
>>11600734
>Bubbububut it's not fitting the definition of what a doll is it's a radical little badass action figure it's completely different!

You collect dolls
>>
>>11600710
what does that have to do with anything i said?
>>
>>11600730
Dolls are usually soft bodied or made out of vinyl. Figures are hard plastic. Old school GI Joes or Megos are more doll like than something like your average 1/12 thing.
>>
>>11600741
>honestly, after doing the math, and sorting out what's what it just doesn't add up. action figure and dolls are completely different things I'm certainly a big boy playing with big toys not this little girly sissy shit

I actually gave a pretty clear distinction there. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go back to brushing Batman's hair and picking an ensemble for him to wear tonight.

Something nice about 1/10 is that it in theory leads to clean looking height conversions. Like a character that's 180cm becomes a 18cm figure.
>>
>>11600802
another total victory for metric chads
>>
>>11600458
NTA but I like 1/12 in a *limited* capacity. I think it excels at relatively high end figures, especially stuff with well done soft goods like coal dog, 3A back when they were doing it, some mezco stuff, etc.

I don't like it as the ubiquitous so called primary scale for all toys, especially all collector focused toys. It's too big for mass armies, can barely do vehicles and playsets and when they do, even if they're cool they're $350-1000 gigafuckhuge things that you either can't afford or can't fit in your house after more than a couple of them.

I like 1/18 and diaclone for world building, and I like 1/6th stuff for actual character showcase showstoppers.
Mass market 1/12 feels like a middle ground where I'm getting none of what I actually want. I don't mind that it exists and I have a few here and there, but it's annoying that it's the most prevalent scale there is, and even more annoying are the drooling retards who collect it that swarm any and every toyline that's *not* 1/12 and say shit like "OH THIS WOULD BE WAY BETTER IN 1/12, WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT THEN"

I seriously can't find one pic on the entire net that shows 1:10 vs. 1:12.
Anyone have a good comparison?
>>
>>11600234
It definitely is pointless, especially for small characters. Nothing in the casual market even uses that scale
>>

That’s probably the current Chinese obsession with slenderman women, very tall and slim. At least some Snail Shells do pretty much scale with some Figma if you’re just happy having a few tall girls around, head size is comparable to some depending on the character so they still fit in. That said I don’t own too many guys, but they’d still look good with characters like Yujiro.

Snail Shell Wasp Girl or Bun-chan as they call her is properly scaled. If they ever release Butterfly/Moth Girl with the same height and proportions I'll Day 1 preorder.
