Man these come with a lot of good shit, like if GI Joe Classified figures came with random bullshit instead of guns, is this what Star Trek fans want? 1/10th scale seems strange. There's also this green alien guy who they're advertising with a floating head and the description mentions magnets too.>Like his two-dimensional counterpart, this 1/10-scale articulated figure separates into three portions using innovative magnetic connections, and can be placed behind a fence to recreate the episode where he was behind a fence Seems fun
>1/10thfuck i was kinda interested for the props
>>11605250>1/10>only glup shittosLol
>>11605263I was gonna say, I would ONLY get these for the props.
I don't get the 'Old-time-navy' figures. It was a brief scene in Generations and not all that spectacular to begin with. There are two (?) more figures in the next set with the theme.
>>11605878Star Trek has always had a bit of an obsession with old timey navy stuff. Captain, Commander, Lieutenant, Ensign, the bridge, ship's log, "Aye, sir", "All hands", "Shore leave", “Under attack off the port bow!” Space battles are filmed and choreographed like submarine or battleship encounters, etc.
>>11605250If they wanted to make obscure characters, fine... but why make them 1/10 where they won't fit in with existing stuff?
>>11605250Kirk is tempting me but I don't need a horse...
>>11605887Pretty sure that is Moby. These figures aren't bad for the price. But the character selection remains baffling to me.
>>11605887Is that why he hasn't been on Best of the Worst lately?
>>11606074A lot of companies either go for the same five characters that everyone always makes or rando literal who's.It killed Simpsons Ultimates but is also what makes every new TMNT line feel boring as fuck
>>11606199I don't get why he went with such a weird scale. I mean, most of these aren't meant to be paired with each other, right?
>>11605263>>11605806And? Nothing stopping you. What, you think your 1/12 stuff is TRUE 1/12??? Hell, the mini comic books with Marvel Legends are larger than 1/10 scale, more like 1/8. Wait for reviews before crying so hard.
heh they never sell enough to support more waves
>>11606204Isn't this like the third wave?
The only Star Trek toy I own is this Ro Laren, whom every night I pray for a replacement. I also have the science and command officers from Kotobukiya and really want a ginger engineer, though they are statues which is forbidden to discuss here.Currently I have Nacelle's Sulu, T'Pol, Worf, and Geordi on preorder through BBTS. I'm really hyped to fill out the rest of the TNG crew in sailor uniforms, then again in their Starfleet uniforms, and their side appearances like ghost-fucker Bev and Sherlock Data. Moriarty, Q in the judge costume, Picard naked and screaming. Army building Ferengi with energy whips and Orion slave girls. I'm here for all of it.I have two of their T'Pols on preorder so when they make a science or medical officer I can headswap them to make Dr. Selar. My ultimate dream figure I'm waiting for is Ro Laren, ideally with an alternate head sculpt with the headband and some hasperat as an accessory.
>>11606220>ghost-fucker BevBest name ever for that version. I'm waiting for 80s workout Bev and Troi.
>>11605250dead franchise sadly
>>11606222Those would be really cool, especially in a diorama with a mirror. All of the accessories and props they're promising are really cool, I'm planning on dedicating a whole shelf and making each space a different part of the ship. In the center it's going to be the holodeck where I can swap in different props and characters from other lines. I'd love to see if they need someone to make dioramas for their figures but they haven't responded to my email about making a Ro Laren so it seems like it's kinda hard to get through to them.Another cool figure would be Sylvia from the TOS episode Catspaw. She'd look like a generic witch so people who aren't trekkies might be interested in using her as a Sith or space Elvira or whatever, and all her props would be really cool, like a tiny Enterprise, candles, a wand, a black cat, maybe some ghosts.I really hope they start singling out side characters with visual appeal or accessories that would make them useful for collectors who don't care about Trek. All my hopes and dreams are with Nacelle, if this works it'll be the definitive toyline for the franchise everyone will remember until the end of time.
>>11606232>or accessories that would make them useful for collectors who don't care about TrekThat's what like half of the figures have already It's just being 1/10th scares people off because nobody considers this >>11606203 they just look at the numbers on the package
>>11606232>>11606241Yeah this is like Muppets Palisades tier accessories
>>11606241Well, the cool thing about Nacelle is they're making awesome stuff at a very reasonable price point, especially compared to other lines like Super7. 1/10-1/12 isn't a huge difference for things like a holodeck arch or a wall of gold ships.People keep making Trek threads so obviously there's a community interested in what Nacelle is doing, and more people will start coming here when the first wave ships. Bitching about scale when none of us have these products in our hands yet is just speculation.
>>11605250Oh man, I almost want to buy Captain Jellico to make a Dick Jones custom for NECA Robocop.
I doubt this thread has anything at all to do with it, I bet there's only like 20 people here, but I can't help but notice some of these actually sold out on BBTS when they were all up last night
>>11606257I mean, these characters must have fans...
>>11606257That's when I ordered mine.
>>11606259Well here are the four that sold outAre these popular characters
>>11606276nta Weyoun anyways was pretty popular back in the day.
You could make an argument for Weyoun... but no. I went ahead and ordered Shatner w/ horse just to be safe.
>>11606276Googling Tuvix looks like he only showed up in one episodeMaybe he's just under produced
>>11606288Tuvix is a reviled meme character that was the result of 2 unpopular characters getting fused into one being somehow.
>>11606292>reviledSo him selling out is like if they made the much hated character Mighty Spector in the He-Man Origins line and it'd be people buying it to abuse it?
>>11606288If anything, he's the meme choice. Like Mudkip.
>>11606293No, it's more like retards thinking they're in on the joke and not realizing they're being taken advantage of.
>>11606297I like Mudkip...
>>11606282Weyoun is a clone, right? So you could justify having a bunch of them?
>>11606301WE KNOW!
>>11606299Explain it more I don't know anything about Tuvix
>>11606305I haven't seen the episode but it's an episode of Voyager where Tuvok and Neelix get fused together and there's some right to life commentary or something.
This and Archer just sold outThis is strange because Nacelle toys never really sell out
>>11606574Trek is a much bigger license than those of their other toys, and as a result the volume of units is higher but also means lower price.
>>11606574I'm noticing that a lot of the ones from the OG movies are selling out.
>>11605263>1/10thDOA
>>11606276>sold out>>11606574>sold outLiterally all of them still available on Amazon. Sold out where? Weyoun had been sold out at BBTS awhile back then they opened him back up for preorder.
>>11606648>the ones from the OG movies are selling out. Those are my biggest wants. The OG films had a lot of great stuff that never got figures.
>>11606652Neca makes 1/10 product and do just fine, move along troll
>>11606837i dont fucking want figures that are out of scale with the rest of my shelf McFarlane and neca can go to hell for all i care
>>11606793You just have to look a bit above those posts to find that answer
>>11606276Weyoun was a great character on the show and Tuvix was definitely a meme character but his episode was good. When a transporter malfunctioned, he was a fuse between the characters Tuvok and Neelix. Tuvix wanted to live even though his existence took away the lives of 2 other members of the ship. The captain ended up murdering him to bring the two back.
>>11606862spoiler for the meme episode?....a friend of mine figured out the Tuvix puzzle:Janeway argued that both Tuvok and Neelix would have the strength of character to sacrifice themselves so the other one could live. Tuvix begged for his life, unwilling to sacrifice himself. so there might have been something un-noticeably "wrong" with him. I mean, it was still kinda murder, but at that point it could have been her deciding to heal them both (or all three?) since Tuvix himself was, in a way, not well.
>>11606223But you Nazis just got your hands on it.
>>11605250>1/10th scale seems strange. It is absolutely retarded until you realize several of the previous ST collector series were also 1/10.So that makes it just retarded.
>>11606837Yeh, if you ONLY collect Neca. That's both limiting and excessive at the same time.
>>11606892It makes sense though. Greater good and all that.
>>11606845>AutismSounds like you're trapped, then. These are literally the same size as the old Art Asylum line.
>>11605887He's literally the best guy to make these. I just saw him give an NYCC interview, and HE educated the interviewer on the history of the Playmates 1701 debacle and how that killed their line, and stated he refuses to make the same mistake despite the studio encouraging him to pump out exclusives. He's going to make sure whoever wants them can get them, and he's very very keen on "exceeding" expectations with all of the accessories. This dude gets it, and he's the polar opposite of McFarlane. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is it looks like we might get 2 waves per year, but that means on average you could just buy 2 figures a month without breaking the bank, so they aren't flooding the market either.
>>11607029That's really cool. It's nice when someone passionate is in charge. The accessories speak for themselves. Hope we get some Cardassians!
>>11606205lol Isn't wave 1 not even out yet? Still time to cancel 2 and 3.
>>11607029>Playmates 1701 debacle and how that killed the rindWhat happened
>>11607029Kinda stinks on one hand but I'd take quality over quantity any day. Especially when the roster is a bunch of D listers.
>>11606223>>11605250>>11606247
>>11606892Except Janeway literally said she did it because she wanted her best friend back.
>>11607961Didn't the actress literally say in some interview that she played the character as having some sort of mental issue because Janeway is written so poorly?
>>11607965The actress was apparently a gigantic bitch who spent the whole second half of the series seething over Seven of Nine.
>>11607965>Its....its not ME having mental issues...um....its...its...um....the character! Yeah! Thats it!All actors have mental issues. Every single one. Source: have worked with scores of folks you know. I have action figures of actors who tried to get one friend fired and another who threw something at another friend of mine. Fun times.
>>11607965Yeah she said that
>>11608021Yeh, well... my uncle works at Nintendo.
They’re all still available on Amazon
>>11608267Woah, did you hear that >>11606793
>>11608081Yeah, that's why I never share stories. Not that I care, believe me or not.
Can't wait for these to start shipping
>>11609288A good portion are serial murderers as well. There’s a crime scene cleanup crew that goes around cleaning the murders up and will stage them to look like accidents too. I know about this from an old Jew I worked for down in Florida when I was in my late teens. He was a lawyer and the middle man for the clean up service. I thought it was bullshit until he pulled out a photo album full of Polaroids. Jack Nicholson ODed 6 women.
Wow. This thread took a turn.
>>11609365>Jack Nicholson ODed 6 women.I can't say that surprises me, the guy certainly has the vibes of a psycho.
>>11607965>>11608015In her defense? She was treated pretty poorly from the get go. They kept asking her to audition and then kicked her, then when Bujold crapped out after 2 days of shooting they called her back but still said "We're going to look again, possibly for male actors as well." and then finally offered her the role grudgingly but promised quality writing. After soft ratings they brought in Booborg who was not a good actress but quickly became fan favorite for obvious reasons. They eventually buried the hatchet but it was after the show ended.
>>11610218None of that excuses treating your subordinate coworkers poorly. She wasn't fucking with Rick Berman, she was mistreating the cast and crew for years on end.
>>11609708There’s also a rumor that Leonardo Dicaprio is actually one of his illegitimate sons. I can’t prove it but if you look at photos it becomes obvious like Justin Trudeau being Fidel Castro’s bastard. There’s a lot of “open secrets” in Hollywood.
>>11610279Yeah it doesnt But if its settled like this >>11610218 anon says who cares. Obsessing over things that have already been resolved is like you're trying to do a metoo movement
>>11607253TL;DR without any advance notice or warning, Play ates decided to be cunts and made a select number of figures from several waves around 1998, super god damn rare, limiting them to a production run of 1701 pieces. This included the highly anticipated Picard figure from the fan favorite episode Tapestries, along with Barclay in his movie uniform and Yesterday's Enterprise Taaha Yar.The backlash was unspeakably negative. Playmates at first refused to admit to fucking up, then partially caved by doing variant costume versions of two of the figures via a mail in promotion with Toyfare but that pissed off more people, forcing them to finally say "fuck it" and putting the three figures in a box set minus most of their accessories to shut people up.The move pretty much led to a huge amount of disillusioned ST collectors dropping the line and it never recovered from the debacle
>>11610369>like Justin Trudeau being Fidel Castro’s bastardHoly shit that’s clearly as day
>>11610507to be desu I never got the hype for those figures, they were just crappy head swaps
>>11610507Why was this a bad thing? Were there distribution problems or just people having a fit over character choices?
>>11608021>I have action figuresMe TOO!Plus my next door neighbor's aunt is dating the guy who is the janitor who totes totally empties out the garbage at Mattel and he said that Ryan Gosling is a total cunt!!!
I've emailed nacelle twice and messaged them on Instagram but haven't gotten a reply yet. Hopefully it's because they're busy getting the first wave ready to ship.
>>11610853Less than 2000 units is an insanely low production run for a popular line. Even most Star Wars con exclusives from the early 2000s were said to have productions runs of about 10,000 units, and those were just shitty silver repaints.
>>11610853>Why was this a bad thing? Many Trek collectors were into collecting them all, then the super-rares made that prohibitively EXPENSIVE due to scalpers. And before you go "oh so and so does this too", Trek is a niche with very particular collectors, and mostly adults were buying these toys.
>>11611115Also, it's a bit like the Oblivion horse armor DLC. Customers have to be trained to accept that level of bullshit, and it doesn't usually go well for the "pioneers".
Any update on when the first wave will ship?
>>11606892>spoilerThe series is like 20 years old dude. You shouldnt be in a trek thread if you havent watched trek.
>>116131479 poa?
>>11612201Which is true but funny since the OP doesnt seem to be one
holy fucking jesus is anyone here buying this?
>>11615839Probably not, before even considering the price, I really don't enjoy the lego aesthetic as much as I used to. Playmobil should release more Trek ships.
>>11615839The playmobile one is on sale for like $280 on amazon right now
>>11616162Correction $299It was at $250 last week
>>11616139>>11616162>>11616163I'll just stick with my old Art Asylum ships
>>11616176Those were kino; they really packed a lot of features in those. And they looked like the show.
>>11616547I have the Enterprise D and the Excelsior, and an 09 ship I think Playmates might have made when the movie came out.I'm not really a fan of the lego style, and especially not a fan of how they did Ro Laren dirty.Maybe Nacelle will make a Ro Laren that doesn't look horrifying...
>>11616730I watched for she
>>11616730I once ran into Michelle Forbes at a theater in LA about a decade ago. Fun experience. Never knew anyone worshiped her like you do.
>>11616958That's so awesome you got to meet her. To me, Ro Laren and her hero's journey represent everything I believe is right and true about Star Trek. It's rocky at first but she assimilates into the crew, then in Preemptive Strike she has to choose between Starfleet and the Maquis and does what's right as an individual instead of following the collective and letting her people die.Why does any of this Star Trek shit matter? Is it the space pajamas and starships or is it the stories about choosing to do what's right? I love Ro Laren so much, if the character didn't exist I'd probably write the franchise off as lame space opera nonsense. It is truly heartbreaking she's been done dirty every time someone makes a figure of her.
>shit lineup>Overpriced>Shit you will toss in a parts boxNacelle is a company that can fuck off.Why do companies space out the main cast to multiple waves, hoping shit no one asked for will sell to fund those future waves? It rarely happens now.
>>11617087>OverpricedNo. Considering all the shit you get in the box the value is greater than any domestic line aimed at adults.
>>11617087They're actually cheap as hell compared to other toy lines
>>11617395yet it's boring shit of ordinary people
>>11617087because previous lines made all the "recognizable" characters right off the bat and it was boring
>>11617087>OverpricedPretty low price considering it's one of the smaller toy companies and they aren't producing things in the same quantities as NECA. Even Hasbro slop is about the same price or more these days.
>>11617398Ok faggot
>>11617242>>11617395>>11617441>>11617429Damn maybe that guy should have taken 14 days to think of something to say instead of 13
>>11617545Maybe he should have lurked for 2 years before posting.
>>11615839>$600 dollarydoosnah
Marauder Mo when?
the problem with doing randoms is they have also bumped the price up probably due to current costs but its still essentially 3 hours worth of pay for a single figure and they ask us to buy a wave of nobodys
>>11617807I get paid $24 an hour though. And I bet someone will reply to me saying they get paid more or less. Thats not a really good argument.
>>11618260If people are too poor to be able to afford a $30 toy they should be sorting their life out instead of window shopping and bitching here. Who walks into a restaurant and starts complaining about not being able to afford the food no one is forcing them to buy?
>>11618262B-b-b-b-but 15 years ago I would have been able to buy it! If I was getting paid what I'm getting paid now and not 15 years ago!
>>11618351Most trekkies are over 30. What are people doing with their lives that they haven't gotten to a point where they can't afford toys?
>>11618443I have sex with men so I can afford anything I want. I know people than work in congress that are barely paying their bills and spend their rainy day funds on gay sex. Times are tough anon.
>>11615839No it looks like shit especially for that price. Lego is just expensive garbage now. Their golden years are long over.
Any news from Nacelle?
my friend is printing a holodeck arch for me and I'm waiting for prints of the walls from the shopby monday night I should have a rough holodeck set up

>>11621367>>11621369>>11621381Cool stuff, anon.
>>11618679They're still saying the first wave should ship before the end of the year.
Any Ship nerds in the thread? I've been trash-bashing a ship model for funsies, and it ended up looking very Starfleet. I was wondering what class it bears the most resemblance to, if any. My first thought is that it might do as a modified Nebula or a Miranda of some variety, maybe even a variation on an Intrepid if you squint. Mostly I want to nail down an era for the paintjob/registry numbers (though due to the crudity of the model, it might just have to be TOS/Lost Era regardless)
>>11625551call it a reinforced Miranda class battlecruiser
