The Kirby is very sticky. Is there any way to counteract that? It's made of that faux-rubber stuff that becomes mush if you leave it in its packaging forever. Also in completely unrelated matters: do you have any suggestions on how to convert the Astro to a Christmas ornament? I have another one I intend to do that with. I was thinking of using the mounting peg somehow but I'm not sure if I can find something that will fit in there that will also work to let me hang it from a tree.
>>11608645>faux-rubber stuff that becomes mush if you leave it in its packaging forever???Sounds more like the usual plasticizer issue. I don't recall any Nendos ever using any "faux rubber" unless Kirby is somehow a special case.
>>11608647Kirby is a special case.I've heard of something called "Mister Super Clear UV Cut" that is used to address this but is that correct?
>>11608673Sorry, what?
>>11608645For the astro, you can turn it into a static action figure by getting it into the pose you like, gluing the joints with super glue, and then just tying a loop of string around its neck or body to hang it as an ornament. If you still want to preserve it as an action figure, then get one of those labubu protectors that people use to hang them on their bags and then just use that.
>>11608679The problem with using a string to hang it is I feel like it wouldn't hang upright. I would want a way to have it rigidly stay upright while it's hanging from the tree.I guess I could experiment with different string arrangements but I still think there's something I'm not accounting for by doing it that way that would force me to resort to finding another method.Short of using the mounting peg hole the only solution I could really think of is to drill into the head and screw in a small eye hook. I don't mind using that as a solution but since I've only got one to do it with I'd want to be sure that's the best approach.
>>11608684I think you’ll struggle only using the back pegYou could try to manipulate center of gravity with weights
>>11608645I've seen reports of this numerous times over the years. I have the original release Nendo Kirby and he's been on my shelf for literally years and isn't sticky at all. I even checked his spare parts and they're fine. Not sure where you guys live that's causing this but I can't say I've experienced it and my Kirby has to be seven years old at this point.
>>11608722I think its leaving it in the packaging that does this. I think once you get it out into the air it counteracts this tendency.
>>11608722Mine started leaking a ton of plasticizer in less than a year of owning it, original release too. The only figures I had that happen are some of the very first figmas ever released that were on a shelf close to a window, and I own over a hundred of them that aren't sticky at all.So yeah, the Kirby nendoroid seems to be really weak to heat. You must live somewhere cold.>>11608737>think its leaving it in the packaging that does thisNot in this case, mine was on display all the time.
>>11608861>You must live somewhere coldI don't actually. I live in a desert. However, all our houses out here have central A/C so my collection room stays quite cool. Maybe that has something to do with it?
>>11608722>Not sure where you guys live that's causing this but I can't say I've experienced it and my Kirby has to be seven years old at this point.I was the one who complained a ton about it a while back when the cafe one was announced. I live in NY so we go through all seasons with very very little extremes outside of like 8 days a year.
>>11608864>However, all our houses out here have central A/C so my collection room stays quite cool. Maybe that has something to do with it?Yes, obviously.I also wonder if different kinds of heat also have something to do with it. The dry heat of a desert are pretty different from the humid heat of living close to the sea, as I do.
I thought the issue was supposed to be if the Kirby nendos are exposed, you're telling me they need to be removed from the box to be salvaged?Guess I'm breaking the Cafe Kirby and Waddle Dee out today.
>>11608866I think something else is at work here, and that's the temperatures the figure had to endure before reaching your home. If it ended up in a hot storehouse or delivery van it could have affected the plastic even before you got it, and the damage was only obvious after a while.Just speculation, but seems possible to me.
>>11608874Mine was on display since day one and now it's a plasticizer mess. It's just pure luck at this point.
>>11608869Yeah, I've had toys from my childhood that were kept in a non climate controlled storage unit for over a decade and while some of the older stuff from the early 90s is sticky as fuck, a good portion of stuff is still fine. Humidity is what fucking kills all your shit. Makes me glad it only rains like a handful of times a year here.
