will this thing kill Lego?Let's discuss this smart brick.
>>11610812
>>11610816>Fart block>We want the fetish audience
>>11610816>BRRRRHHHHHH!!Ahh...that innovation Lego needed for so long...
Lego is already almost dead, the decline initiated once star wars was licensed and accelerated beyond repair as soon as fleshies were created.
>>11610816>when the hand isn't the most disgusting thing in the image
>>11610812Fuck off spammer
>>11610863It is pretty close. Probably about equal.
I give my kid Lego to get him away from screens. WTF is this shit
>>11610812>will this thing kill Lego?I doubt it. Most likely it will be a passing fad that either does well (unlikely) or fails. They probably planned quite a bit for this, much like Dreamzzz and they'll run its course even if it isn't successful.
>>11610812I don't get what you mean. It just makes noises, right? How is that going to kill LEGO? If you don't want one, don't get one. This reads like an old man yells at clouds thing. Are you just mad because they call it a "smart" brick because you were born in the eighties and you're scared of phones?
>>11611326Every time Lego tries somethig new, a certain contingent of people in an eternal love/hate relationship with Lego will talk about it as if this is going to either be the only way forward for the company and will be present in every single future set OR is about to flop and bankrupt the Lego Group entirely as if they hadn't learned from Galidor and putting all their eggs in one basket and didn't have a very large product line that can easily take a loss on a failed product launch as they have with Dreamzzzz and whatever the video clip thingie from a few years ago was called.
>>11611467This time this shit isn't limited to a single line.
>>11611326>how DARE you imply this is a stupid idea
>>11611482You didn't explain why you think a programmable brick that lights up and plays sounds is somehow going to kill LEGO.
>>11611326> Are you just mad because they call it a "smart" brick because you were born in the eighties and you're scared of phones?People born in the 80s were using phones years before you, zoom zoom. Your generation is largely tech illiterate in fact.
>>11611468I'm sure it is, just like how minidolls replaced minifigs, AR apps are in every theme and fleshies are in City sets.
So what does it even do? Nobody has explained it yet.
>>11612203It builds itself.
>>11611326The problems with it are as follows>Are the perfect excuse to further raise prices and skimp out on quality/quantity in the areas that actually matter like piece count and printing>Lego is one of the few toys that are not electronical, is loved for that reason, and Lego themselves have a desire for it to spread to most if not all of its lines like a cancer should it be successful>We don't know the contents of the battery or if it can be accessed which makes for corrosion and environmental concerns>The battery labels on the minifigs are fucking ugly as sin and are distracting
>>11612203I don't think we've got actual official explanations yet. Everyone so far is assuming things like vehicles/ships making shooting noises and characters talking or whatever when interacting with things much like the Mario line.
>>11612217>We don't know the contents of the battery or if it can be accessed which makes for corrosion and environmental concernsI'm pretty sure the multi billion follar company thought of everything and all safety concerns, they spend over half a billion dollars on this idea, trust them
>>11611491NTA but my generation might be the only tech literate generation to exist. The knowledge of being able to resize a PDF was born with and will die with us.
>>11611326You’ll never know what it was like to turn 16, get your drivers license, and have sex during the 142 days of peak human existence between when Shrek >>11610850came out and 9/11.
what do you guys guess the price of the smart brick han and greedo set to be like? couple hundred pieces and 50 bucks?
>>11610812Whatever it is, it looks dangerous
>>11613099>technology is dangetous because...>it just is ok!Tech illiterateWe have had toys with electronics for decades and nothing bad happened
>>11613103You don't understand, the Lego Smart Brick will gain sentience and wipe out humanity with those technic tanks that autists build.
>>11610812Its a GREAT thing but Lego once again fail to make an impact because they will price it ridiculosly. Remember Vidyo? It would be a huge hit if starter sets costed like 12$ not fucking $20
>>11613099No it doesn't
>be Lego>notice that a lot of brick clones are doing light-up bricks to fill in the demand that has been there for ages>"I know what we can do ! We'll also make an electronic brick with programmable stuff !">"like sound !"Are they actually retarded ?
>>11615845I'm just waiting for the programmable Smell Brick
>>11610812>will this thing kill Lego?hopefully
what is smart brick?t. gen x
>>11616214Its got computers in it, kids love the ipadhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7bq9L9wcGE
To all the retards making a big deal over this “smart brick” let’s not forget the light and sound sets of the 80’s. Let’s also not forget the transformers set that’s out right now with a sound brick. There is no way this “new tech” is any different than shit Lego has done in the last 5 years, or last 40 years for that matter. Only thing that will probably be new is having the brick interact with minifigures. Which again, this concept is vaguely similar to the Super Mario line.Cannot believe you fucking morons are even having a discourse about this. This will be another spec in Legos history and will be phased out or forgotten like every other fad Lego has had. Lego has learned many many times that people just want classic Lego system based sets without extra fluff, paired with great design. They always forget this every few years, and then go back to their roots.
>>11616463I think it’s just gonna be shit
>>11616466Proving my point even more. Of course it’s gonna be shit. If you know it’s gonna be shit, and it is shit, don’t buy it. Don’t talk about it. Let it die out. How hard is this to understand for you fanboy idiots? Just don’t buy the product. It’s that simple. Maybe pick up a duplo set since your brain can’t seem to handle basic understanding of a brands history and how most “new” ideas are just rehashed old ones with new marketing.
>>11616463It will be different if you can plug the smart brick into your computer and put your own mp3s onto it. I look forward to making my Lego Star Wars(R) minifigs say nigger.
>>11616544That will never happen because Lego knows people like you exist. They barely even make sets with guns anymore. Lego doesn’t want any adult content or anything bad happening directly with their product. This obviously excludes the nude lady and Hitler customs and all that other shit because that’s too ambiguous and can be done with anything and won’t have parents enraged because they know Lego had nothing to do with it. Can you imagine Lego making something that allows a child to program it to say a bad word or to use it for anything that’s against the guidelines of the company? Maybe I’m falling for your bait, but I don’t think I am. I think you and most of the people In this thread are fake Lego fans and are genuinely mouth breathers
>>11613099Agreed, I know a guy who can deal with it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h2Ed3BBAAA
>>11616495I think the lego designers and shareholders who came up with it should be put in the rack
>>11616463I can actually replace the battery in that one...
irreplaceable battery seriously?i thought LEGOtm was a eco friendly company?
>>11616798Lol
>>11616595You, you're cool. You can stay.
