They should sell the bodies in primer with stencils.

Ah, Mystery Models-gotta love it when you're able to guess the correct model that you wanted-oh
>>11616169I just can't get into Car Tuned. I know they're really popular right now but aesthetically they just don't do it for me. Even the JDM sets aren't really sparking my interest. I'm not really a truck guy and it feels like a majority of them are trucks, so there's that I suppose.
>>11616879same, they look really off to me, meanwhile i love maisto muscle machines and choro q i feel that they get the chibi or shortened toon stylization right
>>11617078Hot Wheels early 2000 Tooned were like this too. I liked them. New ones are horrible.
>>11617108There's definitely a way to do SD/"toon" cars without them looking utterly ridiculous. Hot Wheels forgot that somewhere.
Picrel is my car. Does anyone know how to modify 1:18th cars? My girlfriend bought me a model of the car but it has the wrong wheels and no vinyl top.
>>11617503Picrel is model in question...ps MOPAR OR NO CAR.
>>11617078I saw some Muscle Machines at a thrift store once that were 9/11 commemorative models like pic related. They were kind of baffling.
>>11617889well that sure is something>>11617505looks like the greenlight one, quite nice! for vinyl top, you could either paint it like some do herehttps://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/182664-vinyl-tops-best-method/or you could use black masking tape, anything thin and adhesive that looks like a vinyl could work, for the wheels its abit harder, either you could get them 3d printed or get from another diecast with wheels you want, or if you dont mind exact accuracy just color the red rims over with a chrome pen
>>11617503>Does anyone know how to modify 1:18th cars? My girlfriend bought me a model of the car but it has the wrong wheels and no vinyl top.For Wheels you'd need to swap them but about roof, try vinyl tape. This is how I saved Escort. It had huge scratch on hood. So huge that it would need to repaint whole car. So I used vinyl Black tape to create sport stripe.
>>11618182And this is how it looks now. Tape has nice glow. Not fully glossy but not totally matte. I'm very glad of the results.
>>11617078I wondering if Tomica's failure in the west scared Takara Tomy from exporting Choro Q.
>>11618484Mattel has such deep fangs in the market that I'm surprised anything other than Hot Wheels/Matchbox has any kind of presence in the US especially.
>>11618551US has Johnny Lightning, Greenlight etc..The rest of the world hoveres suffers. Macthbox, Majorette and Hot Wheels are only wide distribution ones. Some countries are lucky to get Welly - they have sweet details for their budget.
While somewhat on the subject of Choro Q, I had these little buildable cars as a kid around 2000. I wonder if these had any connection to the customizable Choro Q from the 90s.
>>11619303I swear I used to have that Cosworth in the front. I don't know what happened to it, but it definitely wasn't in anywhere near that condition the last time I saw it.
>>11619303My rally warriors. Including Escort from >>11618182>>11618184
Does anyone have any experience with Mini GT/Kaido House? I was looking at some of them earlier and they've got some really interesting body kit and wheel styles.
>>11619499Mini GT are scale models, they are fragile and to avoid damage things like mirrors or spoilers are sometimes made of almost rubber. Hot Wheels or Johnny Lightning are pure toys, Mini GT are scale models, step below Inno64 or so.
>>11619303I have that Mobil rally car.
Finally got the 'chase' variant of this. So cute, and I'm not even a fan of Porsche.
>>11619523I kind of figured just based on the price point. The Kaido Houses in particular look like there's a lot of little details in them. I just wonder how consistent their QC is.
>>11620487better details quality, worse durability (?) quality can't find right word for ityou can throw hot wheels at wall and expect nothing more than a scratch. when you grab minigt wrong way you can damage mirrors or some bodykit details like front cannards, diffusers etcthey are for display only really
>>11619499>Mini GTHere's a 3 way comparison of the same car.A mainline Hot Wheels Ford GT from the pegs.A 'Premium', pay extra HWA Mini GTThe mainline isn't 100% stock...I colored the tail lights and a few other details, mostly on the tail. As sold those are just painted over with body color.
>>11616171>good 1:64 classic mopars to get?I've never been a "mopar guy", but Matchbox's '62 Plymouth Savoy is a favorite, especially since it's contender for the unofficial title of "first muscle car". It's got some interesting lines that harken back to the 50s and even the 40s while still embracing the futuristic look of the 60s.The mainline releases are all plain color, but there are some cool race decos if you're willing to spend a bit more on premium.
>>11620842I also love MBX's Dodge Coronet police car, this deco in particular. The chrome trim details are all really nice, and not every repaint has them.
>>11620842It's the first B-body muscle. Father of Charger, Roadrunner, etc.
>>11616171>1:64 classic moparsOh yeah, and this Plymouth Fury. It's some premium Hot Wheels release from 25-ish years ago. It's actually one of the most detailed 1:64 cars I've ever seen.
>>11621960even the interior goes pretty hard
>>11621963I can almost feel the leather burning me on a hot day.
Picked up one more stock car legend. I got it because post-'70 Chargers seem rare, and I thought the color scheme was really cool. And because I have a thing for gold rims and #5 cars.
Finally found this Camaro on the pegs. But honestly I'm pleasantly surprised by this '70 Celica. The proportions are awesome, I love these wheels, and this particular shade of spectraflame blue is brilliant. Mine has a lil' dent on the spoiler but that's fine.
>>11623088Wrong headlights for Celica tho. No idea what they were thinking.Meanwhile my little project.
I made my hot wheels f40 into a Keychain
>>11617139These just look like regular cars popping a boner in their cockpit
>>11623290innocent until proven grippy
Does anyone fixate on any particular liveries like the Falken green and blue or the HKS oil slick?
>>11623650That's a nice collection. I don't see them too often, but the Godzilla liveries on Nissan Skylines and GTRs are pretty cool.
>>11623704Doesn't that exist entirely because the R34 is nicknamed Godzilla?
Well travel for business for a week now. Not much to do once having to move on from places that have toy and plastic model stores besides looking around in the local convenience stores. So i got these. I also find tomica's Tesla Model S and 3. To be fair I really thanks Tesla sedans look so horrible in a bland way.
>Ford escort I just love the fact the way Hot Wheels are packaged, you are pretty much guaranteed to have scratches on the side that's come in contact with the cardboard. I know these are cheap toys but still, fucked up paint because of packaging issue is really a bummer. Having bad paint from the factory is one thing it's another thing to have something that's totally preventable. With tomica, they wrapped the car in a clear plastic bag with the box version and for the carded version the car is secured by a tray. Well at least the bus is fine. Only the roof is painted and the plastic rear mirror prevented any contact between the roof and the card.
>>11623844Tomica usually has that figured out. They typically come in a bag inside the box to prevent paint rubbing. I actually had no idea they came carded.
Both Car Tuned and Muscle Machines seem to roll really smooth. The proportions of the Car Tuned remind me of the cars you could get and customize on the gaiaonline website from decades back.>>11623715I think the nickname started with the R32 because it was one of the most high performing cars from Japan in racing during its time, but the nickname has stuck around since for every new iteration of the model.
>>11623844>fkd up paintIt bums me out too. I've had to amass the whole color spectrum of paints to fix up flaked decals. Almost always have to mix paints because the color from a single bottle never quite matches, but its kinda fun to experiment with color matching. Also, for chrome flaking off wheel rims, everyone recommends Molotow liquid chrome pens. I could only find the silver chrome from Molotow in stores, but I managed to find these Umark paint markers that seem to do a decent job for Hot Wheels with gold or copper rims.
I love this old matchbox nissan. It was part of the lightning wheels series which were supposed to be super fast, and they were. My friend and I used to race them back in 3rd grade whenever we had indoor recess. One day he accidently stepped on this poor car—hence the bent front axle—and it never raced again.I got really mad at him and made him cry. But then I apologized and we stayed good friends for many years. I'm really proud of that. My parents never taught me any values and I wasn't a good kid, so I value the moments when I learned to put someone else's feelings before my own. He's doing good these days, and so am I. I love cars with memories attatched.
>>11625578Heh. I think we all have those moments where something will make us have a fit.But as for that 300zx, there might be a chance you could get it back to rolling. There's this tool made for straightening bent axles on Hot Wheels cars. It's called a Redline Tune-up tool and although it's advertised as being meant for early Hot Wheels type axles, you should be able to use it on modern Hot Wheels and Matchbox axles. The last third of this video shows how to actually use it, but I've timeskipped it to an earlier part that shows how to separate 'cap-type' wheels because it looks like that's the type those lightning wheels are. Not saying you need to take them apart, but it's just interesting as you don't see the axle ends on the wheel.https://youtube.com/watch?v=ufNmGbSw_1Y&t=1m43s
>>11625578props to little youand yes, those nissans were great and i had many permutations of them>>11625783I've really got to start fixing up some of my old cars too.I generally don't buy secondhand cars if the axles are yeeted too hard, even if i otherwise really liked the paint or patina on them.Does anyone know if these wrenches or something like it are sold in the eu or uk?redlineshop doesnt ship here and some of the ebay listings i see have rather pricey shipping.
Do you guys think Blokees' plastic+iron dust material will be a game changer?https://weibo.com/2662493087/QdLSKC316
Local flea market diecast guy had a bunch of these so I picked one up along with a couple other things. This was not the livery I wanted for this casting, but the more I've looked at it and fiddled with it, the more it's grown on me. I've been having an ass of a time finding the new red/blue one, though, which is the one I've really been after. There's also a white one that looks really nice.
>>11627787If you go to a store and see any of these cars in this image, start looking through every single car: these are all from the 2025 'k' case that the new Honda Civic comes in. This vid goes through more of the cars that are in the 'k' case so you'll know what other cars to look out for.https://youtube.com/watch?v=QuNuy0sSyTA
>>11627787>>11628012Also, something to point out: there is a code on the back of the card's hangar piece. The latter half of the code 'N9C0K' is the same across all these cars-I believe the final letter ('K' in this case) signifies which letter case it came from. You can use this to help be sure if your search is getting warmer.By the way, that Civic you got is the original livery it first released in. That's pretty nice.
>>11623296Kek
>>11625783Those are for Redline era axles, which are piano wire compared to the thicker axles used these days.>>11627524You're probably better off drilling it open and swapping out the axles.
I wish I could strangle the guy at autoart that switched them to composite models.
>>11627787>>11628012Every Dollar Store in my area is inundated with these cases. Somehow I feel like I've seen everything except for the two Honda Civics, lol.
>>11628521Same here, except it's the Civics and the Ferrari that are impossible to find. I'm starting to see the 2026 A case in places, but stuff from this year's K case is still clogging shelves in stores all over my area.
>>11628012>ChevroletorMan, I assumed that was discontinued. It's a really underrated casting, imo. In hand, it's kind of like a corvette had sex with a doorstop. But in an appealing way, if that makes sense.I could be mixing it up for another car, but I think it was from a series where Hot Wheels let actual automotive designers make fantasy/concept cars from their respective companies. Chevroletor must have been the coolest one because otherwise I would have bought more, lol.
>>11629661It was an official design from real Chevrolet designers Hot Wheels asked them to design cool toy car.
The 7-Eleven website has the Supra back in stock if anyone is interested. Use FREESHIP at checkout.
>>11630311>$7 for Silver Serieslollmao even
>>11630311So why are people going nuts for these? Is it just because it's a licensed promotion? Or is there a huge cross-section of Toyota Supra/7-Eleven fanatics?I like the colors and I always love those wheels, especially in that copper color. But I don't know if I'd pay 7 bucks for it. Maybe if it were a car I liked more.
>>11630821FOMO. It's an exclusive licensed item that you can only get at 7-Eleven stores or on their website. Lots of people don't have 7-Elevens near them and even if they do, a lot of them don't seem to be offering the cars and the wagies usually have no idea what you're talking about if you ask.

>>11631800
>>11631800Samurai Racers? Never seen those before. The blue one is definitely a 5th-gen Ford Mustang, and the green one looks quite like an Aston Martin model.
>>11631957>looks quite like an Aston Martin model.Yes, definitely an Aston Martin like your filename says. Here's a few more for your Astoning pleasure..
>>11631799thats the best deco I've seen on Roger Dodger in a hot minute. I only have the original version of the casting and I've wanted to get the retooled one with the side-pipes just for shits, but every deco I've seen on the pegs for the past few years has been pretty awful.
>>11631799I do like that Deora and I'll probably pick it up next time I see one. Kind of wish it was a touch darker like the Roger Dodger, though the color combo is still nice and "beachy." They made a full scale one for the Legends Tour, but it doesn't have the whitewall tires.
Been meaning to pick up this Classics version of the Ford Thunderbolt for a while and I finally got a decent price on it. Such an underrated casting, and I think it really shines with spectraflame paint and a metal base. The wiki calls this "orange", but I think it's much more of a brown or root beer.
>>11633306I wonder how much work would need to be done for the Deora II to actually be street legal. I'm sure it would end up being a completely different-looking vehicle by the end of of it because of how anal crash and safety regulations are in the US nowadays.
>>11633388>because of how anal crash and safety regulations are in the US nowadays. We have to do something to protect ourselves from a roadgoing public that gets dumber and less attentive with each passing year.
>>11633406It doesn't help that they keep adding features that diminish a driver's need to be attentive and alert. Shit like lane assist and blind spot warnings and auto-braking make it so you can be almost completely spaced out behind the wheel because the car will do it all for you. I've heard of people getting into accidents because they're so used to these "safety" features that when they get into cars without them, they forget that they aren't there anymore and space out.
>>11633417>It doesn't help that they keep adding features that diminish a driver's need to be attentive and alertShame, that. This particular offense is two-pronged; it's better for safety, sure, but bloating cars with all this extra tech lets them keep charging more and more for everything—nobody makes an "entry level" vehicle anymore, because that's not as profitable. There's actually a third prong, in that it also makes cars increasingly unserviceable. Everything is loaded with proprietary software and so many computers that you're forced to take your cars to a dealership for many kinds of repairs, where they're just as likely to try and get you on the hook for a new lease so they can keep siphoning your money. Sadly, most Americans are proud consumers and will fall for it.Basically, everything's a fucking scam in America. Now I'm grumpy. Here's a little Ford. God bless this ponzi scheme of a country.
1st time ever bought nuMaisto and while I still hate black windows and no interior, in these two it doesn't even matter that much and what surprised me the most is their 'spectraflame-wannabe' paint. I've never seen these on 1 dollar mainstream Maisto crap.Anyone familiar with nuMaisto and this type of paint? I know there's at least one anon who knows them well, even posted Chevy 55 in previous thread.
>>11633558The only Maisto I think I've ever owned is a Jaguar XJ220 model from the 90s. I don't have it anymore, but even as a kid I remember it feeling cheaper than my Hot Wheels and Matchboxes. I've never picked up a more modern one, so I'm curious to know how much they've improved (or not) over the years.
>>11633697>I'm curious to know how much they've improved (or not) over the years. There's only regress to be fair, at least for main 1:64 line. It's a brand that went downhill so bad it's just sad:>No more interiors AT ALL>Opaque black windows everywhere to hide the fact there is no interior>Cheap-looking headlight prints IF AT ALL and usually they are just silver blobs>Barely any decos and usually plain generic car color >Thick paint coat that covers almost all casting details>No more suspension>Ugly wheelsI mean, just compare same Firebird casting over years. Old one from MCToy era is basically Matchbox tier. Now they removed everything good and shat out cheap looking chink crap.
Sup nerds, I need a Dolomite silver 3rd gen Cayenne Coupé ranging from anywhere between 1:32 and 1:18, but one without the plastic cladding (like with the turbo GT).Am I correct in finding out that the 1:18 Norev is the only one currently available?
>>11631957they are new to walmart from what ive seen
I don't care for real riders, but we're probably never going to get it in this color in a mainline.
>>11635849i doubt any color of this one ever comes to mainline
>>11635849The Sileighty is kind of a niche car even among JDM fans so I wouldn't really expect it as a mainline.
>>11636538well, for that matter we haven't got a mainline 240sx yet. And everyone and their dog has seen a clapped out silvia, at least once in their lives by now.It may take ages like the 190 evo and the 356 speedster which only recently got into silver lines, or it may never happen
>>11636538>The Sileighty is kind of a niche car even among JDM fansWasn't it in Initial D? I automatically assume any car that was in Initial D has gotta be at least somewhat popular.
