>$400 + taxes + tip + tariffs - bridge - shuttle bay - ready room - engineering
I understand a bridge might have been difficult to fit into the saucer, sure. But come on, at least the ready room could have been possible. Make it open through the wall with the window so you can see Picard's desk, the fishtank, the Enterprise painting, have a chair for Riker to step over and a door. That way you don't have to worry about the window being a lame sticker or an actual window that would throw the scale away.

>>
>>11615868
>>11615870
Nope.
WE need to "learn" the FOMO
the only way to teach that is to never make the small sets. eventually we will "get it" and buy the expensive set, knowing it's the only option. (and exclusive GWPs help with that jump)

that Back to the Future set is a special case dating back to the original set which was small and affordable (before the Adult 18+ $200+ standard) at this point, they can just do another one like the original since it's not so precious anymore

we might get a Picard keychain in 2 years. maybe even next year. but only Picard (with a hole in his head if you remove the pin)

Sucks that the Delorean can't switch between its two modes easily, you have to disassemble and rebuild it which means buying two copies is necessary to have both forms in display.

It did take them a long time to make a small millennium falcon. It’s really nice though and might be preferable to the UCS falcon if you don’t have the space to display it

Lego sets up the factory to make a set, and they only make so much

when they run out... it's "retired"!

Lego is constantly making new sets, unless it's some kind of magic set that sells like crazy, they're not going to reset the machines to make more of an older set.

for the most part, the bricks are bricks. if you buy enough sets, you will eventually have enough of them to build whatever you want. house, car, mech, whatever.

but if you want a specific character in that thing, you need the minifigs. some of them need special hair styles or torso prints, hats or widgets to hold

take Star Trek, for example. once you have a Starfleet uniform torso, you can make your own crew for your own ship. sure you can grab a blank red torso and "pretend" it's Starfleet, but doesn't the printed one look cooler? it's a lot easier to make a Klingon High Council Chamber out of bricks, but you need Lego minifig Klingons to put in it.

so many questions! since you're new, here's a blog post. I'll try to be brief, but each of these questions could get a whole essay

>Are there any Klingon minifigs?
not yet. you'll get 1 Worf in the upcoming $400 (?) Enterprise -D

>Why don’t aftermarket people make them? Does Lego own the minifig patent?
you see rip-off companies doing "compatible" brick sets due to laws similar to screws and screwdrivers; you can't patent a measurement. but the minifigs is a unique design, so that's the part they cannot copy directly. however, plenty of online sites "artistically decorate" minifigs, and sell custom characters, and get away with it. there are other companies that make custom parts (hair, weapons, armor pieces) that you can add

>What about 3d printing? Do they not look as nice?
basically... no. the "plastic" doesn't "match" and looks awful. people instead 3-D print molds and put better plastic in those. so... kinda? custom pieces exist, however people make 'em

>Lego doesn’t sell individual minifigs
no. but yes.
there's a Bricks and Pieces part of the Lego shop site that sells minifigs parts (for wildly-varying costs) so you can buy official fresh parts and maybe assemble the whole, or most, of a minifig.
there was a popular site called Bricklink that sold 2nd-hand pieces, including complete minifigs, it was so successful that the real Lego Company bought the site, and now runs it themselves. technically you are buying the minifig from another person but it's also through Lego kinda

Ellisons just announced they are rebooting the whole Star Trek universe, will this mean lego will make a full theme?
>>
>>11616111
corporations "announce" things all the time
it's a tactic to generate interest and get stock market investment bucks.

thanks to the internet and modern social media, simply "announcing" something is used to gauge success before the attempt. if enough people comment negatively, they won't waste the money following-through with the project at all (thanks to the internet, that's usually the case)

Disney "announces" new Star Wars projects constantly, that never happen.

Lego also has to "guess" what will be popular enough to sell sets.
new Tron?... nah
new Superman?.... no
new Fantastic 4?... sure, one set tho
new Captain America? OMG YES so many sets!

Lego should have known Zootopia 2 will be huge and should have gotten sets.

also maybe one designer or marketing guy or whoever can push their favorite thing (I loved that Netflix One Piece show we need to make sets y'all!) Wicked is 100% a vanity project, why else would a musical get a dozen sets?

>>
>>11616165
>imagine the gwp price when its "sold out" in retail
that's exactly WHY they would do this

-you MUST buy it! do not miss out!

-Lego can always keep a stash of sets in the warehouse, later selling themselves through ghost sellers on their own Bricklink site, in effect selling small sets for massively-inflated prices (also, real 2nd-hand sellers are encouraged to buy the set, in order to profit... which gets lols from Lego, enjoy your coupon-saving off that $500 set you just bought from us)

-whoops, you missed out?! not next time! next time you will get the $600 set so you don't miss out!!!!

Bionicle is kinda tougher than technic because of all the ball joints and angles I'd definitely need to sketch that or just cobble it together figuring it out as I go.

Mining vehicles would be fun, definitely look at pictures of the machines you'd want to make and figure out how to accomplish to main components in Lego and build them, then once those enigmatic sections are built figure how to sew those critical components together from there into 1 machine or structure.

TIL that the enterprise could easily destroy any ship in the Star Wars universe because of its superior technology. Its weapons have a much greater range than the “turbo lasers” on a star destroyer. My point being, having an enterprise precludes the need to purchase any Star Wars LEGO.

Lego has the sales data that verifies it doesn't matter. people buy the sets anyway.

and they have the scale of business where those savings add up. some guy online did math and estimated Lego makes up to 82 millions sets per year. so if Lego saves 1 dollar with stickers, that's 82 million dollars.

It's for that reason that something like the Wendigo is completely off the table but there are plenty of "secular" cryptids from American folklore that they could choose from. Plus they've already done Bigfoot and the Yeti so cryptids can't be completely off the table. And if they run out of existing ones they can always just make up some of their own.

Seeing some of the more obscure ones could be fun. My idea for a theme would be something like the Secret Saturdays (which had a lot of obscure ones like the Fiskerton Phantom), where it's a global organization that focuses on protecting peaceful cryptids while securing the dangerous ones. Heavy focus on the tech/superspy aspect of it, like a Agents meets Hidden Side. Picking cryptids from around the world would be cool and probably tick a diversity box or two, as long as they stay away from ones with cultural/religious significance. Which for the record, I don't think would even be offensive at all, but this is risk-averse nulego we're talking about.

hooo boy, another blog post for ya!

I'm not going to explain the poop fetish, you'll have to look up the origins/psychology for that yourself. people have a fetish where they enjoy seeing poop.

it started with this CMF Dog Sitter which had pooper scooper
during a time when poop emoji was "a thing"
it was thought to be "hur hur silly funny" obviously, on its own, it kinda is.

soon after... that brown swirl piece started showing up in set after set, sometimes hidden, sometimes not. Lego made a few toilet things, now there are toilets in almost every set that has a building. some of them even flush!

there is no other explanation for the overabundance of POOP in Lego sets, other than "sombeody" keeps pushing it into sets. Sales data shows... survey kids say... whatever they need to justify it with = more pooooooop!

honestly, congrats to the fetish guy. it looked like there was a cheerleader fetish guy, for a while we got cheerleaders in several colors. if I was a designer in charge of Lego sets, I might try to sneak in some stuff I'd be interested in seeing (to be clear, something other than poop)
>>
>>11617340
Some anon made a collage of all the poop stuff, I thought I saved it but I guess not
>>
I just want to know how Dreamzzz sets that cost $15 and no one fucking buys can have prints out the ass but not the expensive collector grade sets. And it's not just plates and panels, they have large printed canopies and sloped disks and every other conceivable shape of lego piece. But the enterprise can't have a 2x2 flat plate with a printed Starfleet logo? It has to be a sticker or Lego will go bankrupt? Same thing with people saying they can't afford to make minifig scale Pokemon and they have to make premium statue slop instead. Like have you seen the fucking Animal Crossing theme? They made custom heads for every character and that theme had nowhere near the volume a Pokemon theme would have. I swear they just base these decisions on how stupid the target audience is and how much they can squeeze them.

*(for the new guy) NPU is a term "Nice Parts Usage" where you take a piece and use it in a way it probably wasn't designed for, but works out to be good at it

>we're entering into a new dark age for lego
the real dark times for Lego come when Enterprise-D fails to sell

Lego interprets that data as "consumers just don't want Star Trek" and do not make any more Star Trek sets

the real reason Enterprise-D failed is because... FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ARE YOU KIDDING ME????

lower-priced Trek sets would sell like crazy, but we'll never ever see them (it's already happened to Zelda)

that MOC is nuts, especially with all those glass/transparent pieces, I especially like the usage of the Nu Road plates, and that build for the small video player (Princess Robot Bubblegum, my beloved)

They were never planning on more Star Trek sets. Just look at the LCARS panel in the shuttlepod or the 2x2 starfleet logo tiles on the Enterprise. If Lego had a long term commitment to the theme they would have invested in printing these designs. But they used stickers because they know they're never touching the license again. I honestly feel bad for people who are holding out for the bridge or Voyager or fucking Deep Space 9 which Paramount couldn't even justify remastering due to low demand. Maybe we'll get a convention exclusive polybag next year if we're really lucky.
