Anyone else feel like half the fun of LEGO is following the build instructions and the other half is collecting a bunch of plastic pieces? Whenever I try to make my own thing it just looks bad.

>Boomers prefer this over any of the awesome new mechs LEGO has been making
>$400 + taxes + tip + tariffs - bridge - shuttle bay - ready room - engineeringI understand a bridge might have been difficult to fit into the saucer, sure. But come on, at least the ready room could have been possible. Make it open through the wall with the window so you can see Picard's desk, the fishtank, the Enterprise painting, have a chair for Riker to step over and a door. That way you don't have to worry about the window being a lame sticker or an actual window that would throw the scale away.

I haven’t purchased Lego in 2 hours and i want to buy more
>>11615856They often make a smaller cheaper version of their flagship sets.look at that Delorean with doc brown and Marty that is coming out on January 1. I
>>11615868Also they made a smaller g wagen which i purchased because i didnt want to spend 250 on the technic g wagen. The small black g wagen is really nice. My wife loves it. You dont have to buy the expensive thing.
>>11615856Look how badass this cheap delorean looks. They’re gonna release a small enterprise for cheaper but it might take a year
>>11615868>>11615870Nope.WE need to "learn" the FOMOthe only way to teach that is to never make the small sets. eventually we will "get it" and buy the expensive set, knowing it's the only option. (and exclusive GWPs help with that jump)that Back to the Future set is a special case dating back to the original set which was small and affordable (before the Adult 18+ $200+ standard) at this point, they can just do another one like the original since it's not so precious anymorewe might get a Picard keychain in 2 years. maybe even next year. but only Picard (with a hole in his head if you remove the pin)
>>11615840>current gen meanwhile can't be trusted with handling small magnets
Why the eff does Lego retire sets so fast. I had to buy the Lego fender on Ali express because they don’t make it anymore. WTF Lego
>>11615870Sucks that the Delorean can't switch between its two modes easily, you have to disassemble and rebuild it which means buying two copies is necessary to have both forms in display.
>>11615874It did take them a long time to make a small millennium falcon. It’s really nice though and might be preferable to the UCS falcon if you don’t have the space to display it

>>11615880Lego sets up the factory to make a set, and they only make so muchwhen they run out... it's "retired"!Lego is constantly making new sets, unless it's some kind of magic set that sells like crazy, they're not going to reset the machines to make more of an older set.
>>11615882aaaaaand how many minifigs did that smaller Millennium Falcon come with?none?aaaaaand... it was a 25th anniversary set?so... smaller Enterprise, no minifigs, 25 years from nowcool

>>11615891I’m new to Lego. Why do people love mini figs so much? Theyre just clutter to me. My kids lose them within a day
>>11615893for the most part, the bricks are bricks. if you buy enough sets, you will eventually have enough of them to build whatever you want. house, car, mech, whatever.but if you want a specific character in that thing, you need the minifigs. some of them need special hair styles or torso prints, hats or widgets to holdtake Star Trek, for example. once you have a Starfleet uniform torso, you can make your own crew for your own ship. sure you can grab a blank red torso and "pretend" it's Starfleet, but doesn't the printed one look cooler? it's a lot easier to make a Klingon High Council Chamber out of bricks, but you need Lego minifig Klingons to put in it.

>>11615913so many questions! since you're new, here's a blog post. I'll try to be brief, but each of these questions could get a whole essay>Are there any Klingon minifigs?not yet. you'll get 1 Worf in the upcoming $400 (?) Enterprise -D>Why don’t aftermarket people make them? Does Lego own the minifig patent?you see rip-off companies doing "compatible" brick sets due to laws similar to screws and screwdrivers; you can't patent a measurement. but the minifigs is a unique design, so that's the part they cannot copy directly. however, plenty of online sites "artistically decorate" minifigs, and sell custom characters, and get away with it. there are other companies that make custom parts (hair, weapons, armor pieces) that you can add>What about 3d printing? Do they not look as nice?basically... no. the "plastic" doesn't "match" and looks awful. people instead 3-D print molds and put better plastic in those. so... kinda? custom pieces exist, however people make 'em>Lego doesn’t sell individual minifigsno. but yes.there's a Bricks and Pieces part of the Lego shop site that sells minifigs parts (for wildly-varying costs) so you can buy official fresh parts and maybe assemble the whole, or most, of a minifig.there was a popular site called Bricklink that sold 2nd-hand pieces, including complete minifigs, it was so successful that the real Lego Company bought the site, and now runs it themselves. technically you are buying the minifig from another person but it's also through Lego kinda

>>11616111corporations "announce" things all the timeit's a tactic to generate interest and get stock market investment bucks.thanks to the internet and modern social media, simply "announcing" something is used to gauge success before the attempt. if enough people comment negatively, they won't waste the money following-through with the project at all (thanks to the internet, that's usually the case)Disney "announces" new Star Wars projects constantly, that never happen.
>>11616120Tron Ares happened (I wish we had gotten tie in sets)

>>11616165>imagine the gwp price when its "sold out" in retailthat's exactly WHY they would do this-you MUST buy it! do not miss out!-Lego can always keep a stash of sets in the warehouse, later selling themselves through ghost sellers on their own Bricklink site, in effect selling small sets for massively-inflated prices (also, real 2nd-hand sellers are encouraged to buy the set, in order to profit... which gets lols from Lego, enjoy your coupon-saving off that $500 set you just bought from us)-whoops, you missed out?! not next time! next time you will get the $600 set so you don't miss out!!!!

>>11617155Minifigs will be different variants with clothes, exclusives and so on and you are a fucking retard, probably the one who can't put a sticker on and hates lego. Kys
>>11617163Calm down Frenchie, the fissures may be going off but still
im gonna be honestif its not licensed then its not worth my time
>>11617163>different variants with clothesWell locking the uniforms they actually wear on the bridge in a more expensive set and putting picard in his risa outfit in the bridge set is a very lego thing to do.
>>11617166This but opposite, fuck licenslop
>>11617143Seeing some of the more obscure ones could be fun. My idea for a theme would be something like the Secret Saturdays (which had a lot of obscure ones like the Fiskerton Phantom), where it's a global organization that focuses on protecting peaceful cryptids while securing the dangerous ones. Heavy focus on the tech/superspy aspect of it, like a Agents meets Hidden Side. Picking cryptids from around the world would be cool and probably tick a diversity box or two, as long as they stay away from ones with cultural/religious significance. Which for the record, I don't think would even be offensive at all, but this is risk-averse nulego we're talking about.
>>11617172Mothman may trigger some of the wokeheads in there due to >tragedy association, or something
I've wanted this for a while, finally pulled the trigger.

>Finally Lego Star Trek after decades of begging >It's a giant, overpriced paperweight instead of literally anything elseIf Lego was clever, they'd make it a rival to Slop Wars. Imagine TOS sets, Motion Picture sets, Animated Series sets, even Lower Decks sets.I just want a minifigure scale Klingon Warbird.

>>11616875WTF seek help. I have problems with stickers too. Why are you and the sticker ninja persecuting us?
>>11615870looks like a cheap chinese knockoff
>>11617163People that like stickers hate Lego actually
>>11615840>awesome new mechs LEGO has been makingbuy a gundam model kit then you retard
>>11616588Why would you even put this sticker across two 2x2 tiles? This is just retarded. Even if the directions tell you to. A 2x4 tile would be a much better choice. Also stickers are not hard to remove and reposition. What else do you fail at?
where do they find these people
>>11616660First step is wash hands and the brick the sticker will be applied to. I always try to use an older used brick if I can. If you need to reposition you warm up with a hairdryer and peel up corner with a sharp knife edge. Don’t touch the adhesive. After sticker is reapplied warm it up with hairdryer again and press flat.
>>11617229They don’t, its ai generated
>>11617205I'd rather them redo helms deepminas tirith is ripe for fucking up especially after how mid the shire was
>>11617248>minas tirith is ripe for fucking upbut look at star trek and death starthe bad set karma is fullnow its time for some good sets
>>11617250No, lego is shit, no matter how much you cope. Until they get rid of the poo poo things aren’t gonna get better
>>11617248Dont forget the god awful Balrog set
>>11617253>Until they get rid of the poo poo things aren’t gonna get betterexplain the poo poo thing
Entire city block on a 48x48.This is before I added in all the figs and cars but for anyone building a city: Modulars are a waste of spaceMy city is Asian inspired so I guess it makes sense for the density here but I prefer the smaller 3-1 size modulars as they let me have more verity in less space.
>>11617257>Dont forget the god awful Balrog setwhat the fuck is this dogshit opinion?a cool lego balrog and you fucking say its shit?go slurp another star wars slop you love so much you fucking cuck
>>11617283I think I can say this is the final form of the downtown core for my city. if I get a modular it would be Grand Emporium since it can be gutted out and turned into a more conventional shopping mall.
>>11616882Explorien Starship nodifs
>>11617287That's cool man, glad it works for you. I'm doing modulars with a train layout, also doing mils plates, entire area is 10x10 baseplates. I can't decide on roads though. 32x32 roads look best but are massive. The 16 wide road plates just aren't wide enough for the speed champion cars I want in the city.
>>11617300I suggest having 2 areas. Suburbs and Downtown. Use the speed champions cars on wider roads in the suburbs What I like with my road setup is that it allows for more detail like potholes
>>11617287Pretty based. Map sperg?
>>11617304I only did that rough map just to make some plans I dont use it often
>>11616944Jesus Christ just look at those stickers. Awful color matching and the designs are so simple. These really couldn't be prints on a $400 set? There's barely any exterior detailing and what we get are stickers? I'm crashing out this is so disrespectful to fans and consumers. Lego seriously needs a reality check. I hope this crashes and burns harder than any theme in Lego history.
Remember when HereticCreations used to post his Halo mocs in these very generals? Now our boy is in the big leagues *sniff*
This is Autumn. She is an amputee. Show me a proper arm for her, please. Thanks.

>>11617310my dick hole
>>11617271A few (quote, few) designers have scat fetishes and love inserting them everywhere, presumably the same set is also responsible for the literal enshittification of lego
>>11617308Was he a different guy to HaloAnon or no
>>11617319>A few (quote, few) designers have scat fetishes and love inserting them everywherewhat the fuck /lg/, explain yourself NOW
>>11617311oh snapyou're right!now I wonder if The Force has ways to deal with that kind of thing. it's space magic so they don't have to explain itforget the Death Star vs EnterpriseEmperor vs Q is where the real action is at
>>11617321yeah different guy, there are at least 3 halo posters (one of them is me), one is HaloAnon and one is Heretic (he stopped posting here some time ago though)There may be more I'm not aware of
>>11617325I think there are other dimensional beings that can influence reality and go back in time in the Star Wars new EU, but im not sure
>>11617319when you open the instructions and see the designer is some dude with shoulder length hair and painted nails you just know they're gonna hit you with the brown frog easter egg
>>11617322Germanic niggas are crazy, weinmar still hitting them all these years later>>11617328HaloAnon was the one I am most familiar with, trolling some of the bl sellers before eventually going and buying weird shit from there is funny for me
>>11617322hooo boy, another blog post for ya!I'm not going to explain the poop fetish, you'll have to look up the origins/psychology for that yourself. people have a fetish where they enjoy seeing poop.it started with this CMF Dog Sitter which had pooper scooperduring a time when poop emoji was "a thing"it was thought to be "hur hur silly funny" obviously, on its own, it kinda is.soon after... that brown swirl piece started showing up in set after set, sometimes hidden, sometimes not. Lego made a few toilet things, now there are toilets in almost every set that has a building. some of them even flush!there is no other explanation for the overabundance of POOP in Lego sets, other than "sombeody" keeps pushing it into sets. Sales data shows... survey kids say... whatever they need to justify it with = more pooooooop!honestly, congrats to the fetish guy. it looked like there was a cheerleader fetish guy, for a while we got cheerleaders in several colors. if I was a designer in charge of Lego sets, I might try to sneak in some stuff I'd be interested in seeing (to be clear, something other than poop)
>>11617340Some anon made a collage of all the poop stuff, I thought I saved it but I guess not
I just want to know how Dreamzzz sets that cost $15 and no one fucking buys can have prints out the ass but not the expensive collector grade sets. And it's not just plates and panels, they have large printed canopies and sloped disks and every other conceivable shape of lego piece. But the enterprise can't have a 2x2 flat plate with a printed Starfleet logo? It has to be a sticker or Lego will go bankrupt? Same thing with people saying they can't afford to make minifig scale Pokemon and they have to make premium statue slop instead. Like have you seen the fucking Animal Crossing theme? They made custom heads for every character and that theme had nowhere near the volume a Pokemon theme would have. I swear they just base these decisions on how stupid the target audience is and how much they can squeeze them.
>>11617354I still have this saved
>>11617358Kek, the scat conspiracy goes further than just the poop piece though. You have sets in Hidden Side that feature a port-a-potty that shoots discs of shit. A ninjago prison cell uses brown tile and a yellow tile to look like piss and shit on the floor, the brown frogs are used for shit too.
>>11617365>the brown frogs are used for shit too.wtf im going to need an image of this to believe it
>>11617370Brown frog right underneath the toilet in the Lion Knight Castle
>>11616805Galaxy Explorer balanced the play and display better. Blacktron just looks too much like a big version of the old blocky weird spaceship, which is obviously a win for the design but not matching the current Lego design mantra of pretty expensive desk decoration. So it sits in the weird nether realm of an overpriced playset.
>>11617370And the giant pile of shit set uses it to cap off the top of the turd
>>11617356Dreamzzz are for younger kidsif they have a negative experience (stickers! argh!) they will not buy more sets (Minecraft & AC customers, too?)the ADULT buying a $400 Enterprise-D, to get the free (heh) Shuttlepod, would have bought it whether or not it came with stickersat that point Lego is saving pennies, but hey, pennies is better than no-pennies. Lego wants all the pennies.
cant forget the parrot that you feed and then let shit everywhere
>>11617379>>11617373jesus christ and i thought the bonsai tree was bad
>>11617358imaging scores of Germans camped out at the lego store swarming the PAB wall and grabbing these by the handful
>>11617373The instructions confirm that it's not a frog-shaped poo, it's a real frog that got pood on.
>>11617420The original intent was to put the frog in the hole of the toilet to make it look like a turd was sliding out
>>11617310
>>11617392You mean Indians. They worship and eat poop
>>11617428and germans are sexually aroused by poop you zoomer moron
>>11617420that's just a joke. to distract. they probably felt that thing was a little too-gross and needed a joke to soften it (pun?)you just know that's the designers epic NPU* pinched-off loaf*(for the new guy) NPU is a term "Nice Parts Usage" where you take a piece and use it in a way it probably wasn't designed for, but works out to be good at it
>>11617433so? germans are sexually aroused by shit, everyone knows this. Not sure why you are being so offended by this stereotype
>>11617434Are you buying the uss enterprise Lego?
>>11617451No, No interior no buy, simple as.
>>11617027>picrel>>11616996>>11616906>>11616837>$400>no interior>just anorther dust collector with minor "play features">another pre-order DLC gift with purchasewe're entering into a new dark age for lego
>>11617455>we're entering into a new dark age for legothe real dark times for Lego come when Enterprise-D fails to sellLego interprets that data as "consumers just don't want Star Trek" and do not make any more Star Trek setsthe real reason Enterprise-D failed is because... FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ARE YOU KIDDING ME????lower-priced Trek sets would sell like crazy, but we'll never ever see them (it's already happened to Zelda)
>>11617466>(it's already happened to Zelda)stop acting like Lego Zelda was anything other than a one off, you're not getting a lego midna or whatever shitty waifu for you to goon over
>>11617287>>11617305>>11617283that MOC is nuts, especially with all those glass/transparent pieces, I especially like the usage of the Nu Road plates, and that build for the small video player (Princess Robot Bubblegum, my beloved)
>>11617466They were never planning on more Star Trek sets. Just look at the LCARS panel in the shuttlepod or the 2x2 starfleet logo tiles on the Enterprise. If Lego had a long term commitment to the theme they would have invested in printing these designs. But they used stickers because they know they're never touching the license again. I honestly feel bad for people who are holding out for the bridge or Voyager or fucking Deep Space 9 which Paramount couldn't even justify remastering due to low demand. Maybe we'll get a convention exclusive polybag next year if we're really lucky.
>>11616968>You kill me, and you'll never get another Lego Star Tre-
>saw pic related at the thrift store>thought $30 was a bit high but it resells for $45>cashier read it wrong and only charged me $2.99>decided fuck it I'll build it since I got it for pennies
>>11617497It really sucks they discontinued the old 1x1 flower design
>>11617497If it's a fleshie set, why are the paintings yellows?
>>11617506A wizard did it.
>>11617430Kek.>hey mom https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XV_Zc-tsLHo
>>11617506they have done the opposite, recently even.they put minifig versions of the Ideas submission people into the sets when they can, and they make those yellow, instead of the flesh tones they should be.(eventually they might make the Lando mistake, and regret not doing fleshies for the set submitter in the first place)
