Was it really LEGO's worst theme? Or was it simply a case of wrong place, wrong time? Thought the mixing and matching of limbs was novel enough, does wear thin after an hour, though.
>>11617177Somebody needs to remove your thread posting abilities. This board needs a hero
>>11617177>themeIt was its own thing. Fucking loved the show, gba game and the McDonald’s toys.
>>11617179>This board needs a heroIt certainly ain't you making the same off topic post every single time.
>>11617520yawn
>>11617177>does wear thin after an hourkek, that's when your imagination is supposed to kick in, take them on an adventure ffs op
>>11617177I once tried to make some sort of Generator Rex thing with Nick Bluetooth's parts. The idea was that I could attach the ratchet joint bricks to anywhere I needed. The problem was that they didn't fit initially because his base parts just obstructed any brick that wasn't meant for him. So i took the time to sand/dremel down certain parts until they fit. After days of experimenting, I just realized that Im playing with what is practically a Ken doll. I still think about experimenting with the others, but im just not motivated after all that

PORTAL TO KEK
>>11617177Galidor is the ultimate expression and example of how out-of-touch the new suits in charge of Lego were. Shit like this combined with the tooling costs of introducing a fuck-ton of colors and new piece designs all at the same time along with trying to make IP's such as this, really almost bankrupted the company. It was only by greenlighting licensed themes such as Star Wars & Harry Potter that the company survived, but that also lead them down the path to where Lego is today: Overpriced, overdesigned stuff for man-children with unlimited budgets that cracks if you look at it funny, where you almost feel like an add for Lego with a kid or kids in them is AI generatted lol.
>>11617177Always liked the Galidor toys (the show sucked). I remember one time I was at TRU with my mom and was getting some of them that were already on deep clearance and the lady at the checkout said "Nobody else likes these things" or something like that. I wasn't aware of how hated they were at the time since I had no friends and barely used the internet.>>11621061>Galidor is the ultimate expression and example of how out-of-touch the new suits in charge of Lego wereHow so? It's only one step removed from Bionicle and that was a huge hit. They're action figures with modular pieces you can mix-and-match. I don't see what's bad about that concept. Sure it's not classic Lego but it still encourages creativity. It was putting the cart before the horse and going all-in on a multi-media blitz like it was going to be the next Pokemon that turned what would've been a failed sub-line into a near-bankruptcy situation.
>>11617642>take them on an adventure ffsMan if I still had mine I would've filled this thread with OC just to spite OP.
>>11617177They were ugly a sin.
>>11621105>Sure it's not classic LegoThat's exactly what threw us off. Regular Lego was doing just fine to us, then this non-studded not-brick line just shoehorned itself into the lego aisle for some reason. Bonkle didn't even exist yet, and this didn't inspire creativity at all. If they advertised a way to make them work with the standard bricks, or even made something to work with standard bricks, then maybe we'd warm up to it better.
>>11622273Like you?
Making the main leads humans made the modular limbs gimmick feel weird. With Bionicle, they're robots so swapping out parts isn't that strange, it's disturbing doing that shit with some normal kid.
>>11623549They should've made the parts apparently Lego compatible. All they really do is connect male/female, but theyre otherwise unrecognizeable without a base of studs
>>11623550get a new gimmick
>>11617177Galidor? More like GAYlador!
>>11623593Bionicle had no studs either but they did well
>>11624293Bionicle had its own building system in tandem with Technic and made use of reusable parts
>>11617177From what I recall, the story was boring, the characters were lame, and while the gimmick itself wasn't a bad idea the execution left a lot to be desired. While swapping parts was fun enough for a bit, the characters and pieces being so wildly different meant that most of the time they looked coolest in their default forms, which contradicts the whole point. I had the red bug guy because I thought his head was cool, but even when he was built he just felt like a clunky mess of awkward parts. In different ways both Bionicle and Xevoz did a far better job at what Galidor was going for. Bionicle was a far better building toy that also functioned as an action figure line with its own lore. Xevoz made far more appealing characters with parts that were more fun to swap and vague enough that they could be interchanged into more cohesive designs.
>>11623549>it's disturbing doing that shit with some normal kid.If they dailed that up to 11 I bet it would have done well. Think of all the weird gross out shit in the 90s. Make it Frankenstein themed with lots of weird gore. Lego would never have done but still. It gave us clicky ratchet joints and I legitimately love the ice and green guys design as aliens. The Humans were so boring and a stupid idea.
>>11624854>Bionicle and XevozDont forget about Throwbots.
>>11622258>Bonkle didn't even exist yetBionicle predates Galidor, as do Star Wars and Harry Potter. Galidor pissed away all the profit from those themes.
>>11623593Galidor feet techincally can connect to base plates, though they don't do much besides stand there, but it does allow for something. What that something is I haven't figured out yet.
>>11617177>Was it really LEGO's worst themeI dont think thats the consensus, its just a theme that flopped. Thats all. Its not very good, and it didnt do well commercially. We can all move on now its just a weird foot note in lego history
>>11631693You can give them skis, snowshoes, rollerblades, skateboards etc
Someone post the KEK powerizer memea
