Bossfight
>Pre-Orders for 6" Conan and Belit: Queen of the Black Coast up for Pre-Order now.

So the biggest Four Horsemen event of the year happens this weekend, with things technically already happening today. Tomorrow is the event most people should be excited about as they'll reveal the next wave of figures in Mythic Legions, and from the posts on Instagram, it looks like we'll be leaving the land of Mythos and heading to the high seas. We'll also be getting more information about the upcoming TTRPG as they'll have playable demos and even some live streamed previews of the game at the event itself.

If you can't attend and want to get your hands on some of the figures released at the convention, they always have a stock specifically planned that goes up for sale early after the holidays (minus some specific exclusive parts), there will also be a selection of "Pre-Built" armory figures sold on their store. It should be an excited weekend and I'll try to update the thread with pics of the new wave when they're revealed (though seriously, that's stupid early to be showing off new stuff).

And remember, Don't Feed the Troll.

They previously put the con exclusive versions up on Legionshop but that place has been decommissioned now. Last year's two pack with the bonus parts ended up on BBTS for a slightly premium. Not sure if it will happen this year, but I really do want a con exclusive version of at least Scaphoid and the male Crossroads figure, so hopefully they end up somewhere that is easy for us filthy foreigners to get it.
Here are pics of The Crossroads figures with the exclusive parts circled.

>it looks like we'll be leaving the land of Mythos and heading to the high seas
And honestly, if this rumor pans out (which seems likely) I'm probably not going to be going too deep for this wave. I'm sure I'll be tempted, but I'm going to try to keep it to figures that fit well with what I've already got.
Now watch them announce a Captain Barbosa-like skeleton pirate and crew which makes me decide to go balls deep on the whole wave.
>>
>>11617671
>>11617672
>Nearly every cool part is exclusive
What the fuck?
>>
>>11617680
Yeah, I'm not impressed. I want to make Scaphoid's followers, and two of the heads are locked to two of the exclusives. We finally get a rerelease of the Queen Urkzaa head and it's an exclusive. The Valgard exclusive parts are especially egregious because they are to make his own legion of knights, so expect people to army build it.
I would prefer if they just gave the exclusives a fancy box for the con, but gave everyone a chance to get all of the parts. It's like a giant fuck you to anyone that can't get to New Jersey at this time of the year.
>>
>>11617671
I'm pretty sure Storehorsemen also had the exclusive sets, but they were always sold as two packs and went for the same price BBTS listed them as. BBTS still has the previous year's two pack for sale, but it's $130. which is about $50 more then just buying the two non-exclusive versions individually.

>>11617675
I don't know if they'll do an entire skeleton crew, but I can absolutely see them using the Jacob Marley parts to make a skeleton pirate captain.

>>11617680
The figures do work well without said parts, but I guess they felt they had to make the exclusive pieces actually desirable so people actually *want* to buy them.

>>11617686
If the one of the two green heads from the Crossroad figures wasn't exclusive, I would've been able to excuse that trick. But seeing as that angry zombie head *is* an exclusive, it kind of makes it harder for those who want to build an army for Scaphoid.

Valgard is the one that really bothers me though, as he's 75% of the way to being a two pack with all those extras....and I already own the other 25% of the parts needed to finish off that second gold knight. It is stupid that he's his own army builder though, especially since it's *only* the exclusive version that can serve as that army builder.

On one hand, I get why they do things this way, as they do want as many people as possible to get the base figure and all the "exclusives" are just extra. But at the same time...a lot of those extras are nicer and more unique then the base figure and it sucks it's so much harder to track them down unless you're at the show. It's a very damned if you do, damned if you don't situation they make for themselves.
>>
>>11617701
>I don't know if they'll do an entire skeleton crew
I meant more like one or two crewmember figures that have optional parts to make several unique crewmembers. I'm not expecting half the wave to be ghost pirates, or pirate ghosts.
https://youtu.be/pgipfCtNAGw

>It is stupid that he's his own army builder though, especially since it's *only* the exclusive version that can serve as that army builder.
That's the part that really rustles my jimmies. Locking an army builder to an exclusive made in lower quantities. If they gave him a semi unique head like a repainted Sir Enoch and a fancy cloak to make Valgard's 2IC and made those parts exclusive, I'd almost forgive them. I can almost forgive them for keeping the green Turpiculi parts exclusive since you can still make Scaphoid's regular skeletal followers from the normal green skull. Almost, but not quite, because I really want those parts.
And now that I think about it, I wish the zombie heads were swapped between the two Crossroads packs and the one missing a tooth was the less common exclusive head since it is more unique. I hated having so many skeletons missing the same tooth prior to the Necro wave.
>>
welcome to another mythics thread I'm your host Jeremy
>>
>>11617671
I like the dark and gritty design and I'd like to buy like three of the guy, but they are so loaded with accessories, optional parts and exclusivity price markups that they'll be prohibitive, especially for non-Americans.
I wish they eventually make other figures with similar vibes to this mini-wave that are more convenient to buy.
>>
>>11617786
My plan is to buy one each of the Legionscon version of Scaphoid and both Crossroads figures for the exclusive heads hopefully from BBTS, and then I will buy a couple more when the non-exclusive version appears on Store Horsemen after the new year. I only need one of the each of the exclusive heads not counting the zombie which I would gladly get a few of if it wasnt going to be prohibitively expensive. Don't know how many I will get in total, but I would like around 4-5 of the male knight and Scaphoid. I will probably only get one extra of the female, and if I can't army build Valiant Guards, there is absolutely no point in wasting my time on the exclusive version of Valgard.
I can't remember how much international shipping was last time I bought from Store Horsemen, but it wasn't as obnoxiously unaffordable as it used to be unless you are buying larger figures like deluxe, ogres or horses. Sometimes they cause the shipping calculator to go fucking spastic.
>>
>>11617701
>which is about $50 more then just buying the two non-exclusive versions individually.
depressingly even with shipping it's cheaper than going to the con. I get their is more than the figures their but it's frustrating how these fun sets are set up where it's either pay hundreds and wait in a line for them or hope some 3rd party gets them and it can still be cheaper than the con itself.

Your best bet is either Otho or Sir Elijah with their soft goods removed, really depends on how dark you want your silver. Though if you wait until the new year, the 4H's TTRPG Kickstarter will feature some new figures that will generally be cheaper then current fully stocked figures that may work for you.

>>11617996
I'm sure there's like...a handful of people in that room who care.
>>
>>11618003
....and here I thought I was done with Templars. Honestly, I mostly just want her for the red axe as I have a figure I'm building I'd love to use that on, but overall I'm glad they're doing a new 2.0 female knight build. Hopefully a v2 of Gwendolynne isn't too far off.

>>11618029
>>11618014
This guy really needs more gear if he's going to be his own army builder. Also, I hate the 4H's animal companions. Articulate em or don't include em.

>>11618101
Damn, they done made Brad Pitt from that one movie. I kind of dislike two "slots" in this wave are taken up by Legacy characters...but at the same time I kinda want to buy both of em.

>>11618116
I guess this guy officially replaces Turmagar as the coolest Walrus based action figure to exist.

>>11618129
You know something has jumped the shark when they bust out the giant crabs. He honestly does look awesome....but I don't know if I literally have the space for a giant crab in my collection. Him and that Mondo Clawful will just have to snip it out to earn a spot on my shelf. First crab out of the bucket wins!

>>11618306
This is a way better use of the "Infinite Legions" concept then the Glyos figure. I don't even care about celebrity D&D, but I am always down for cool giant dragon folk. Considering I have three of the in house 4H giant dragonman, this guy will be a nice change of pace, even if he does end up being smaller then them.

Also, not shown but worth a mention, the retail red version of the TTRG Paladin figure actually looks real nice, and I think I would rather grab a few of them over one of the SDCC Black and gold ones.

I was worried when Vitus got revealed because I thought a V2 Grysha might also be in the wave to go with the Arabian Knight. I'm fine with 1-2 per wave if it means we get them for $42 instead of the $55 they charged for the first 2 Legacies figures.
>Him and that Mondo Clawful will just have to snip it out to earn a spot on my shelf.
I nearly went in on Clawful, but with all of the additional costs on top of his price bringing him close to $200, I couldn't justify it. My brain kept screaming at me "you think you are going to give Fukno $200? FUKNO!"

Not very excited for this wave.
I don't want to go deep (heh) into a very specific biome buying representative figures of various seafolk and a pirate; I already ordered some Savage Crucible fish guys and that's enough for a random skirmish against surface dwellers. I'm interested in the giant crab as a stage boss, but the final local price may discourage me once I check it.
I'm likely getting Delphina, but that's partially because I'm a templar-fag and a waifu-fag. I like the soft goods and some of the additional details compared to the first, but I'm not a fan of the oversized ornaments.

>>
>>11619025
The whole point of Figura Obscura was to be an "Unknown Figure" line, so the 4H are kind of getting burnt out now that everybody is making predictions and have expectations of what should be made. At the Gcon panel, they kind of made a big deal of people "expecting" the next figure to be Christmas figure and to paraphrase their words "You won't be ready for it" implying it was something entirely off the wall.

Though it turns out the "won't be ready" comments just meant timing because this guys is available at the Con itself right now.

Oh yeah, I forgot the Skellie LB2 was released like that too. I missed the Ninian Infantry because my card fucked up. I know another anon missed the skellie. Now watch as this fish guy is easy to get when I don't really want to army build him but would still buy 4 sneks.
>>
>>11619263
I'm really hoping this fish guy isn't in short supply because honestly, the wave feels incomplete without him. He literally makes the whole "Fishman Crew" feel complete, as without him it's missing something. With the Skeleton and the Snake, they were generic troop builders and easily skipped, but this guy is the literal PoV character from their big introduction to the whole wave and a major character in the narrative, as well as being the "normal" guy on the team. He better be one of them perpetually in stock figures because this wave kind of needs him.

..............also, now we need to find 1:12 ships for these guys.
>>
>>11619472
>With the Skeleton and the Snake, they were generic troop builders
Even more reason for them to have more stock available. They need to put the Legions back in Mythic Legions.
>also, now we need to find 1:12 ships for these guys.
When it became apparent that the wave was going to be pirate themed, I was sure a giant fuck off pirate ship crowdfund was going to be announced to happen in the future.
>>
>>11619496
>They need to put the Legions back in Mythic Legions.

Oh this I can not agree with enough. When the line started, they made it seem like cheap Legion Builder figures would be the backbone of the franchise. But now, we're lucky to even see a single wave of em a year, if at all. There is absolutely no reason each and every wave released shouldn't have at least one Legion Builder, and no full priced figures who are their own army builders do not count.

Ibn Prosperaius is a perfect example of a figure who doesn't really need to be in this wave and should have been a cheaper army builder. The only "new" parts about him are the sword and the soft goods, but the figure undneath is all reuse. If it was just that base figure with the sword and maybe a spear, it would've been a *perfect* army builder for the evil Pirate crew and help flesh out their side of the conflict while going against the good guy fishmen.

That said, the RPG figures are looking to be cheaper per purchase and more generic in build, so perhaps they're intended to be the new "army builder" figure. They're expected to be priced slightly higher then I'd prefer, but much cheaper then the standard figure. But that's no replacement for a full, solid wave of budget army builders, especially with the massive catalogue of new parts they've built up in the past few years.

They started putting butterfly joints, double elbows and knees and mid torso joints in certain figures going back to the wave they revealed at last year's Legionscon. It's generally referred to as their 3.0 bodies. IIRC, Not every new figure has these added joints, so far it's mostly the bare torsoed figures that have butterfly shoulders, including their Gnole and their giant wolfman, but many new figs have the double jointed arms and knees.

It's really a case by case basis as to who gets one joints as there's no real "standard" for articulation anymore. Some parts just work better with more articulation then others so they cram it in where they can.

I really hope both gender snake and siren bodies show up next year in new Reinforcements waves where it's just the basic body with minimal paints and gear. Perhaps the same with the zombie but I get that's much harder to go minimum on paint apps and still look good.
>>
>>11619740
>Perhaps the same with the zombie but I get that's much harder to go minimum on paint apps and still look good.
I've always said a zombie Legion Builder would be shit because it needs decent paint apps, but considering the Graveyard Zombie with all the softgoods clothes was normal figure price, I would take one with absolutely nothing but the figure for LB price. No clothes. No accessories. Just a bare bones naked ass zombie in a loin cloth. Make it the same colour as the Necro zombie so we can use those heads and the AS6 head pack on it, and release a hands pack to go with it to help keep the figure cost down to LB prices.

I do not think he has double knees, the uppwe calf piece looks to be the same half cloth leg piece they're using on other figures with the cuffed boots. But the pants look like there's more then enough room for a really deep bend.

Personally, I prefer a good single hinge over a double joint, it just looks cleaner and feels more natural while still maintaining a standard break down of parts. But it's still nice they're improving things where they can.

>>11619740
While I won't disagree with your point, I feel being such an important character to the crew would help counteract his lack of army building importance. Like, before he was revealed I had no interest in most of the fish people, but with him it feels like a fully solid team and the All-In is that much more tempting.

Though I do wish the crab had *some* sort of clothing or gear to imply he's a crew member and not a lumbering monster. But I guess I can make a few giant belts myself.

And yes, Snake People and Zombie need army builders. But more importantly, the Gnole needs an army builder. I hate when they add a "whole new race" and it ends up being a single figure in the line.

>>11619754
It's not that Legion Builders got no paint, it's that they had *limited* paint. All Legion Builders have some paint on em, it's just limited to one or two colors, and a good wash is all you need for that Zombie to pop. Just look at the Ashen one, who's solid grey with some highlights and a wash.

If Shadow Orcs can get a two tone skin color, the zombie body can get the details needed to make it look excellent.

>>11619774

>It's not that Legion Builders got no paint, it's that they had *limited* paint
I never said they get no paint. My point was that the Graveyard Zombie was regular figure price with all those soft goods clothes, painted accessories, and extra heads. And the clothes packs were about $20?
Cool, ditvh the clothes, drop the extra painted heads, and even forgo any accessories if you really need to get costs down, and give me pic related in the same skin tone as the Necro wave Undead Builder as a $25 Legion Builder so I can use all of my spare Undead heads. Maybe give us a different zombie head on him since we already have that one in the Undead Builder colorway.
And Legion Builders have never gotten weathered armor, so I don't want these rotted guys in shiny armor like the Shadow Orcs are. Also I don't need all of my zombies to be kitted up as knights, and a horde of these would look far more terrifying.
>>
>>11620373
Oh I agree that bare skinned zombies would be the best way to go, but they could do a solid skin tone with a simple wash like they did with the Skeleton Legion Builder, who was sold at that lower price point. I was just pointing out how a bare skinned zombie with some basic gear could have a simple wash to make it's desiccated skin texture pop while still being in that Legion Builder price point.

We want the same thing, I'm just explaining how it's not only possible, but has been done before.

Armory Knights or Armory Gladiators?
If Gladiators, what >>11620493 said.

If you do mean the Knights, they were a year ago, so apart from the ones still on Store Horsemen, supply will be starting to dry up. Really, if you are after them, as much as I hate to recommend it, the Mythic Legions Cabal group on Facebook will probably be your best bet. Just keep in mind when you make a "wanted" post, you need to include a ballpark price you are willing to pay or your post will be deleted.
And don't mention you are from 4chan. They don't like us.
>>

Regardless, what >>11620669 says is true. They are very insular and don't even like you talking about any other Facebook groups unless it's one of the "accepted" groups that are a part of the clique.

Even the Jersey Devil didn't follow their previous "Halloween" release style as it was sold and shipped out in September.

You seem like an ill adjusted schizo. Are you the type that takes anonymity very seriously? The mythic community is full of retards sure, but it's not like they're cliquey or hard to get in their group...especially if you collect the line.
>>
>>11620993
....wow, super sensitive there chap, especially since I didn't even say anything bad about the Cabal itself.

I made a new facebook account to join up there since I don't use facebook. It has nothing to do with anonymity, I just loathe the platform as a place of discussion. But I applied, and made multiple attempts, did not get in, and have been relaying that fact to people who inquire about getting into the cabal as a possible and not all too uncommon outcome.

But since you're so open, why not share your facebook account here so we can see your "well adjusted" pics of Legions and such.
>>
>>11621036
>....wow, super sensitive there chap
He's probably from the facebook group and is making note of your posting style so he can further block you or anyone who posts like you.

Another reason you might be let in is if you don't have enough of the newer figures. Shills gonna shill and purity tests are a thing.

Given that they're even anal about who they let into the group, it's probably a shitty place anyway, hence various members from over there posting here nistead of there.
>>
>>11620993
He's an ill adjusted schizo because he waited for moderator approval to join and never got it?
Fuck man, I've seen hundreds of posts there over the years where someone is complaining that their wife/relative/friend is trying to join the group but they've been in limbo waiting for mod approval forever. It's a fucking common occurrence.
>>11621036
I'm not 100% sure what the process is, but if you still want to join, maybe try sending a mod a message. Your account might have just been ignored for being a potential spam account if your FB account was new when you tried to join.
>>
>>11621049
>don't have enough of the newer figures.
I don't have to worry about that, I don't think they've put out a wave where I didn't grab at least two figures. Still trying to narrow the current one down to four, but at this point it depends on how easy the Goldfish is to get. I've been singing this line's praises since I got that first figure back in 2015...within reason...so I have no problem fitting in with other "shills" who love the line.

>>11621069
I'm sure if I tried and sent someone a message or something I would've gotten in a long while back but the thing is...I don't really care. Again, I don't want to disparage the group as I've never experienced the place first hand, but the very fact that it's Facebook makes me want to avoid it like the plague. Not even based on the people who use it or the company that runs it, but on the very nature of the site itself.

I've always loathed facebook, even before it was common knowledge that it's just a place to farm and sell your info to corps and governments, Facebook is just *not* a good place for long form discussions. Organizing events, catching up with friends, promoting yourself, your business or your community? Yea, sure, Facebook is good at that. Having a big group discussion about a specific aspect of a niche toyline that spans weeks if not months? Yea, that don't work that well there.

To this day, I miss the old, crappy, barely moderated 4H forums.
>>
>>11621238
>don't have enough of the newer figures
Don't engage. You should be able to figure out who it is.
>the thing is...I don't really care
That's fair, I was just giving you a heads up on a solution if you were still interested. The BST aspect is the main draw because prices aren't quite as assrapey as ebay. What you say about the lack of long form discussion is spot on.
>but the very fact that it's Facebook makes me want to avoid it like the plague
I kind of regret signing up for FB at all. I only just recently made an insta account to follow someone that barely posts anywhere else anymore because I figured Meta already have my data, and I already hate it.
>>
>>11621264
Oh just to be clear, I appreciate the advice on how to get in, it's just not something I'm willing to put the effort into.

I do have an Insta as well, but it's a burner email and I just use it to keep track of the 4H and a few other toy companies as that's the best place to get news.

Speaking of news, Frazetta Girls Necron will be going up for Pre-Order at the end of the week. Not sure of the price, but I'm sure it'll be up there because I think he comes with a throne. But if you're looking for a good villain to harass the rest of your growing barbarian hordes, you can't get much better then Necron. Dude is about as classic 80s sword and sand evil as you can get.

Just dropping this for anyone interested in the Legendary Barbarian or Jersey Devil. I wouldn't be surprised if more figures sneak into the shop that day as well, though I wouldn't expect any of the Con exclusives just yet.

Also I find it both absurd and infuriating that they haven't posted more about the RPG figure they teased last friday. I was pretty keen on the Barb when it first released, but I'm feeling a bit ambivalent now. We've got two versions of Frazetta Girls Conan, Heroic Signatures Battle of Blackstone Conan, and Boss Fight Reaver of the Black Coast Conan. Not to mention all of the Super7 Arnie Conan figures, FG Darkwolf and Norseman, and at least 5 barbarians from Savage Crucible (Who-man, Krieger the Shunned, Frazetta's Warrior, Varnoks Unchained and Kubla Khan) in addition to the Legionscon Armory Gladiators, and Attlus from the Riding Sons wave.
Do I really need a generic not-quite-Conan barbarian figure? If I bought all these, my shelf would look more like a Chippendales show.

Not exactly the best quality pic, but it's the best I can do on short notice.

It's basically the same concept as the SDCC release where it's a more "Basic" Paladin that can "Class Change" into a Cleric with added gear.

Only with the new figure, they don't have soft goods and instead the torso, waist armor and loin cloth are newly molded pieces. The idea being that the figures can be sold at a lower price point with less accessories (Paladin only comes with a sword and two faceplates iirc) and the "Upgrade" sets are sold on their own so you can customize your base figure.

The *idea* sounds great, but it really relies on them actually putting out a variety of base figures AND lots of optional sets. If each character only gets one "class" upgrade set, then it's just a really lame concept.

The Base figure also has a little cardboard standee (iirc) that can be used on the TTRPG, while you can use the larger figure for more "focused" encounters while playing. But again, don't really care about the RPG aspects, I'm just happy to get cheaper figures and individual gear sets. I don't even want the SDCC version anymore, as those red Paladins would be perfect troops for the Leodyssian army.
>>
>>11623345
>Not exactly the best quality pic
Good enough. I can see what we are talking about.
And the Paladin is supposed to be slightly cheaper than a basic figure? Sold. I still want to see how much they flesh out the idea with the Upgrade Packs, because like you said, they need to have a decent range for this to work well, but it's good just to have more cheap army builders again.
>I don't even want the SDCC version anymore, as those red Paladins would be perfect troops for the Leodyssian army.
Same, but I might still grab one of the SDCC version for a cleric. Green works for the cleric, but his paladin set up isn't even on my mind since it won't really fit any army I've got going.

It's a $20 mark up for the exclusives, but if you can live without the extra parts, they'll be releasing cheaper versions on the 4H site at some point in the not too distant future (probably january). Big Bad Toy Stores sell them. I think I also saw them on Arizona. I'm doing the /toy/ Secret Santa this year and the person I got asked for, among a long list of stuff, Mythic Legions. I saw that some of the accessories were on sale, like heads, weapons, etc. (and actually, other accessories from other franchises and toy manufacturer's on his list).
I expected the anon to put "Mythic Legions Evil Zombie Pirate" or some specific thing he wanted, but apparently this guy will be happy with anything from this company - which makes sense since there's so much you can do with this line. So I got him one of those sale accessories pack, in addition to an actual TOY toy from another one of his 'asks' - I know for the crap I collect, I would have loved if someone sent me a package with six spare heads, or a package of like 20 spare hands, or weapons.

For example, last summer I ended up having to track down some knock off weapons for a line I collect, which sucked as between paying extra shipping and not knowing if I would be stiffed or not. It was great, since I had lost the gun on a Bucky Cap Marvel Legends and one of these looks alright with him.

>>11625258
I noticed some other con exclusives (yeah, old 2022 era) for a model kit my guy wanted were at BBTS but highly discounted, so it's like anything else - wait for a sale and hope it's not out of stock?
>>
>>11626467
He was a surprise drop at the 4H's annual Convention a few weeks back, but they plan to sell a limited amount of stock of him on their own store sometime in the near future (most likely January, but possibly sooner). He's unfortunately a very limited run figure and when he does eventually go up for sale he'll most likely sell out quick (within an hour depending on purchase limits). Best thing to do if you really want him is to sign up to their newsletter or follow their Insta for updates as they'll announce exactly when he's going up for sale at least a week before it happens.

>>11626469
So right now these figures are up for direct Pre-Order from the 4H themselves. These are the lowest prices you'll be able to get them, but you will have to pay upfront and you *will* be waiting at least two years before they ship out. But buying them direct from the 4H is not only the cheapest option, but the most guaranteed way you'll be able to get them as their is no order limit on quantities, just a time limit to buy which ends at the end of December.

After the 4H Pre-order window ends, their Retail Partners will put up their own Pre-Orders, BBTS being their most well know partner. Those pre-orders work however each retailer works (i.e. BBTS won't charge until they ship) but those pre-orders can potentially sell out. They'll also be marked up at least $10, if not more, per figure. And even with the retail partners, you will still be waiting just as long because the figures haven't even entered production yet.

If you want to at least test out the line, there's many figures for sale right now on the 4H's store. No Pirates or Fishpeople though, but most figures will have similar builds and feel so you'll have an idea of the quality of figures you'd get before investing large sums of cash for two years before seeing a return.

Good luck. That only works for shit that doesn't sell, like last year's Legionscon exclusive 2 pack. All of this year's con exclusives have pre-sold out within a day.
I'm fucking praying I get lucky and someone cancels their preorder for The Revenant. At least I got Scaphoid.
>>
>>11626611
I'm not going to collect these. Two different heads, some weapons, and some hands were on sale. I bought one thing, for like $30, which fits the rule for Secret Santa but since I assumed he wanted/hoped for toys, I also got him something else (actually, I'm doing well, so I got him two things).

You're right about one thing. Waiting for a sale can suck since you might lose out, that's happened to me. But I've also since learned that you DON'T fucking NEED a toy.

You loose it for good reasons - like it being over-prices, you get over it.
>>
>>11626469
Waves like this are initially put for preorder exclusively at the 4H store for 1-2 months. Then they become available at other sites in the US and around the world at a markup price (which may be worth especially for non-US customers). Then the figures are released around 2 years later.
>>
>>11626700
>Then they become available at other sites
they become available for preorder as well, if I wasn't clear, I realize.
>>
>>11626611
If you don't really care about the green head and evil faceplate, the mass release version of the figure should be way easier to grab. They generally make *way* more of the non-exclusive versions of these figures to the point that the releases from the previous two Legionscons are still available.

Qoi will probably be the hardest figure to get from Legionscon considering how previous surprise drops have gone. Which is an absolute shame because he should have been a main wave release seeing as he's a figure that brings the whole Fishman crew together. The current wave is neat and all, but if the next Wave does it's own thing, the two crews will feel incredibly unfinished if this is all we get for them. Especially the evil Pirates who have absolutely no cohesion at all.
>>
>>11626824
>If you don't really care about the green head and evil faceplate
Unfortunately I do care about them. I still plan on getting a couple of the standard release of him, but I really wanted both of those parts. Mainly the green zombie head.
If I don't get the con version, I've got the head pack with that head sculpt in it, and I've got a tube of green Liquitex paint that I am pretty sure is the exact same shade used on Scaphoid. I'll just need to figured out what yellow to use.
>>
>>11627041
Ah, well sorry to hear that then but I know the feeling. I really needed that white Urkzaa head from the Nymph set and had to jump through a few hoops to make sure I got it. I plan to grab the Warrior when he goes up for general sale as I didn't really care much for the Zombie head, but I will admit I'll miss that faceplate because "evil humans" is a surprisingly rare thing in this line.

I will say that without the extras the Warrior does feel like the better buy though, the extra parts make a far more unique looking figure then what you get in the Nymph set. I wish the Nymph had at least an extra torso like the Warrior, as a different body would've done wonders to change her look. There's also a ton of different torsos they could've used for her, namely any of the armored bra torsos that just never get used.
>>
>>11627192
Yeah, the evil human faceplate was also a draw, and if I don't get my hands on the con version I'm not sure if I will be able to replicate that. My painting skills are a bit rusty, but I am confident I can achieve a decent looking green zombie head. I can definitely recreate the Gorgo helmet, but that is a low priority. I do have a spare Sir Andrew face, but painting a fleshy face decently has always been my Achilles Heel. All I would have to do is paint the eyes red, give him some eye shadow, and remove/paint over his beard stubble. Easy in theory, but I know I will be unhappy with my results.

Cool, I didn't realise that last year's set sold out on preorder. I actually bought him last year or the year before last year on bricklink for some reason which is why I want it too.

My only issue is I wish the mythic legions went full in on the captain outfif aesthetic but I dont think that would fit the rest of their line probably. He just needs a silly hat. They're more like tropical pirates which is still pretty cool. (I have no idea what the real lore is.)
>>
So 4H have finally dropped some official pics of the RPG figure they teased at Legionscon. No new info other then confirmation the Kickstarter for it will start late feb.

I will say it kinda sucks that as their "new" budget line these guys will cost almost as much as their original "deluxe" painted figures

>>11628262
Basic lore for this wave is the fishmen (and woman) and the crab dude are sailors from foreign lands and the Roman Soldier and Templar are emissaries on a mission to visit those lands for the first time. Dude in fancy robes is rich guy funding fishmen exploration boats, and can be his own troop builder without the robes. Bald dude, imp and Walrus are pirates looking to attack said ship.

I agree a more traditional pirate would be cool to see. They have the parts from the Jacob Marley figure to easily bust out some classic looking pirates, but I feel they may be holding off as to not compete with a friendly company who is also putting out pirates that they actually sculpted the figures for.

The fishmen are cool and all, but I honestly would've loved to see a pirate crew made up of previously used races like Orcs and Goblins or a Skeleton. They would've not only have fit right into the pre-existing lore real easy, but would've also fit into people's collections without issue. As of now, I just got my hands on the fishman Qoi and I have absolutely no idea where he should go. He's just gonna hang out with my snakemen until the rest of his crew lands in about two years.

>I will say it kinda sucks that as their "new" budget line these guys will cost almost as much as their original "deluxe" painted figures
On one hand the price is a bit sucky compared to the original Legion Builder concept. On the other hand, these have a deco almost as detailed as a basic figure for (hopefully) $12 less. And $15 for the Cleric upgrade pack is about what I was expecting since the price rises this year. The only thing they need to do is have a few more upgrade packs including a hand pack. Like they should have included one of the plate gorgets with the figure and left the chainmail coif parts for an upgrade pack. I guess they could include an extra face with a chainmail upgraded pack that includes the coif head and some other mail parts like the faulds/groin mail along with a few weapons, and include a plate gorget with a different helm like maybe both great helms with a selection of helm adornments.
And speaking of different helms, whatever happened to the 1.0 resized version of the sugarloaf helm that they mentioned they had planned back after the second Kickstarter? We did get the resized Sallet helm in the last couple of years, but I only remembered we are still waiting on the bigger sugarloaf helm when I was comparing Delphina V2 to the original.

Is the Koi roughly the same as (not) Conan and the Valiant knight released before? Not-Conan and Valiant knight were con/influencer exclusive for almost a year, then they just had random drops that sold out within hours. Not-Conan and Valiant Knight are the only two 4H figures that were legitimately pain in the ass to get

It sucks so hard. I'm just a casual fan and a review of Qoi made me want to collect it again. My problem with Mythic Legions was always just that I preferred more cartoony or colorful fantasy than realistic. And come on it's an orange koi man it's like he was made for me. For a nautical theme it was so much more unique than anything else in the regular line. Or just nautical themes in general. Oh well.
>>
>>11629138
Well, there will be at least one more drop of Qoi in 2026, keep your eye on Fantasy thread or just subscribe to 4H mailing list.

>isn't this because legion fan boys keep asking for pirates?
Yes, but no. It's not like 4H did these figures for this company just because Legions fanboys have asked for pirates. It's just like how we asked for Lizardman, and Harvinger Studios saw the demand and decided to fill a gap in the market with Savage Crucible. Unlike that instance, these guys decided to hire 4H, most likely because they had the idea to fill the pirate market but not the ability to 3d sculpt.
>>
>>11628916
They did mention they plan to do different types of head, weapon and accessory packs, not just the specific "Job Upgrade" ones. Seems like they're going for a more "ala-cart" experience with the RPG figures as they come with less stuff, but look better and you can then gear them up based on whatever sets you prefer.

As for a 1.0 Sugarloaf, they'll design things and sit on them for YEARS. The initially sculpted that jaw bone club way back for the first Intern for a Day event and it was only in COSMIC Legion's FIFTH wave where they actually used. Now I don't know if they did make a 1.0 Sugarloaf, but they could easily sit on it for a long time for no real reason.

>>11629118
Was gonna drop him with my Snake-men, but I guess the forest group could use a fIshman friend for a while.

>>11629131
The Barbarian figure is what they called their "Touring" exclusive, a unique figure they initially only sold at any of the conventions they traveled to for the year. It's a much different release style from the Preview figures like the Valiant Knight and Ninian Infantry. Those guys were surprise reveals at Legionscon to build hype for upcoming waves and then had limited online releases later. The Barbarian has been around the whole year, you just had to go to one of the many events they were at to get it. I do agree it sucks they had such a limited number of em for the online release and that they didn't limit him to 1 per customer. It's not the best figure in the world, but it's been hyped for a whole year and not everyone can or wants to attend conventions.

>>11629138
He's surprisingly nice, I figured they'd just reuse the same snakeman body, but it's actually the newer Thraxxian Scout, with added neck and upper chest articulation. Even the pauldrons and belt are new pieces from the Rising Sons wave that haven't been used yet. My only issue with him is the knees they used, as the random metal poleyns just don't work on him.

>They did mention they plan to do different types of head, weapon and accessory packs
This concept has actually got me more excited than the latest wave, and I have no intention of playing the game.
>Now I don't know if they did make a 1.0 Sugarloaf, but they could easily sit on it for a long time for no real reason.
They sat on the sallet helm for years, because I'm almost positive both were requested at the same time and they *said* they had it planned, but really they probably already had it tooled during the KS. They did the same with a bunch of goblin heads in that KS that didn't appear for years afterwards, like Swigg and the Deluxe Goblin LB.
But enough sitting. It's been 7 years since we got the female sugarloaf and 3 years since we got the resized sallet in the Father Christmas FO. Really though, if they give us a new Templar Legion Builder from those new RPG figure parts and throw the resized sugarloaf in that, I will definitely forgive them.
>it's actually the newer Thraxxian Scout
That's a big fish. I was surprised by how tall the Thraxxian was compared to a skeleton. He's almost a full head taller.
>>
>>11629800
>That's a big fish. I was surprised by how tall the Thraxxian was compared to a skeleton. He's almost a full head taller.

I didn't even realize that until you mentioned it, but standing him next to a Valiant Knight and even the Ninian Infantry, the fish is noticeably taller. Even with his relatively short head and a bit of a hunch in his neck joint, he looks like way more of a bruiser then I originally expected him to be. The crazy thing is that he didn't even need to be bigger, the snake body would've worked well enough for both him and the Thraxxians. But 4H gotta go and retool an entire new build just because they can.

I'm sure they'll drop more fishmen at some point, I can't see them not reusing the new hands, feet and back fins, and the faceplate is removable so they don't even have to tool up an entirely new head. Though knowing them, they'll do just that anyway.

Buying two was definitely worth it.
Joined them with simple grey papercard painted with a grey marker on top for unevenness. I cut slabs of it and put them onto a single strip long for the floor.

This guy? Yea, I'm excited for him too. People love the 4H Dwarves but honestly, I've never been impressed by em. But the new build looks way better and both him and the female dwarf look really nice. I'm worried they'll make all the older ones look worse by comparison. Might have to spread some of the parts around a bit to spruce up the old ones to match better with the new ones.
>>
>>11631456
>I'm worried they'll make all the older ones look worse by comparison
That is pretty much expected. Most of the newer stuff from Arethyr wave onwards makes the older stuff made from parts from the first two Kickstarters look worse by comparison.
>>
Does the waist armor from the Legendary Barbarian come in other colors with someone else? Maybe a gold to match the wrist pieces?
>>
>>11632280
That's the same piece on Magnus and Vorthogg from the Arethyr wave.
Magnus is gold with silver chainmail.

Vorthogg is dirty silver with bronze chainmail.

I'm more tempted to get the Moon Knight from Vtoys, but the blank body being covered by soft goods and then armor ticks me off. I'm afraid I'm going to mess up the costume beneath the armor and then I'd be unable to fix it.
