Welcome to the Transformers General!
Last time on The Transformers: >>11622002

Last combiner for me untill we will get new Predaking, Piranacon/God Neptune and GE Bruticus.
>>
>>11625879
Yeah, when Firefight arrives in two days I will have the last three combiners complete, now it's Bruticus turn (already have Vortex).

>>11625899
Defensor is bland but I'm still interested in him, there's fewer Autobot combiners after all.

How about a Dinobots combiner that isn't Volcanicus
>>
>>11625913
I want Defensor, but not with these new prices.
>>
>>11625879
I’m assuming this bruticus is going to look pretty bad seeing how they’re making us but all the figures before showing us what it looks like
And you have no other options vortex is already selling out
>>
>>11625913
>Defensor is bland
Defensor is awesome, I love his black with baby blue and he always seemed like the toughest of the 3 original Autobot combiners to me in-universe.
>>
>>11625913
I might stop at Devastator. Defensor will be annoyingly shorter than him and for a sharp price hike. I love Computron but I might as well snoop around for the original since I love the colors more there. God Neptune will be a re-release and not much less expensive than current ebay prices.
>>
>>11625879
>Are you getting him?
Been out of mainline since Kingdom but came back for Bruticus since he's my favourite, not really interested in any other G1 combiners aside from maybe Predaking.

Bruticus and Devastator are the only ones i need.
Obviously Abominus is my most favorite but i don't believe we getting him or getting him that soon.
I would love to get the toon-Abominus - i already have PotP abominus so i need another version.

>Remember not to forget labeling the general with /tfg/. If you intentionally forget to do so, then you're a troll who is intent on making this thread get lost.
And I didn't. Why even say this?
>>
Side note, I wonder if someone is intent on making their own custom stickers separate from ToyHax. To be brutally honest, the ones we got from them in regards to Star Convoy... suck. They messed up on the Micro Trailer sticker, as it should have just followed the pattern of the other numbered Micro Trailers (13 CYBERTRON but with the option of the Battlestars special Autobot logo or his Prime Master sigil).
>>
>>11625962
Because anon did that yesterday and there's an unlabeled thread on the catalog currently.
I don't understand what anon gains from being an annoying faggot at /tfg/, it can't be THAT amusing to be an unlikable dick.
>>
>>11625962
Why? Because the last two threads didn't even fucking label them properly as /tfg/.
>>
>>11625960
Still wonder why they chose to make Nexus Prime a voyager instead of putting him in the leader slot.
>>
>>11625967
Unicron (possibly) and Liege Maximo are more known for fans. So maybe that's it.
>>
>>11625943
>he always seemed like the toughest of the 3 original Autobot combiners to me in-universe.
Because he rarely appears, so he doesn't have time to turn into a jobber like everyone else.
>>
>>11625951
>I might stop at Devastator. Defensor will be annoyingly shorter than him
That's a good thing, I want the scramble city ones being the same size, Devastator is the one that does things differently.

>are you that new guy?
>y-yeah i'm a p-part of Combaticons....
>you kinda small for a combat-guy
>yeah he's kinda tiny for a war-guy

It's funny that even the cheapest of Constructicons are bulky heavy and chunky and bigger than other combiner limbs.
Even the CW-guys are smaller than Bonecrusher and Scrapper.

Vortex is so tiny compared to them!
>>
>>11625990
Vortex will feel better when he drops somebody to their death from a high altitude.
>>
>>11625967
Maybe he's just some random robot that doesn't seem to be a combiner like in One.

That would suck, so at the very least I hope he can turn into a torso that has ports to attach arms and legs of frame combiners.

This thread is spooking me.
I literally just got a Combiner Wars Brawl (store was getting rid of old stock so i got it pretty cheap)

The tank mode makes me very happy. Should i hunt down the other CW Combaticons? How's Onslaught and Swindle, those 2 are my favorites.

oh and one more question, does anyone else have problems with the waist on their CW Brawl? mine unplugs easy and i just got it off the box today.
>>
>>11626095
>The tank mode makes me very happy. Should i hunt down the other CW Combaticons? How's Onslaught and Swindle, those 2 are my favorites.
Onslaught got weak ratchets and swindle is probably the best combaticon mold, they are all mediocre overall
>>
>>11626102
>Onslaught got weak ratchets
damn, i heard Hot spot was really good. Still might invest in that since Bruticus is the only combiner i kinda give a shit about.

>Skyfall : new deluxe

This is what I would be ok with.
>>

I recommend to get AoTP if only because so far vortex is way more solid than the all of the CW combaticon components

I played a lot with my Brawl back then and yes - i remember waist unplugging all the time.

CW-Brawl is basically a brick. You can't play with him too much otherwise you will mess with his waist or shoulders

Just pose him, but he's not for the heavy play.
>>
>>11626108
Thank you for that info.
It's a bit annoying because i like to mess around with my figures in hand before laying them down, but i'll just be careful i guess.
>>
>>11626090
>Considering Swoop and Sludge have 3 out of 4 of the main colors of the toxic copter, I think they are quite radical. Leave it up to Toyhax to make the extreme stickers.
yeah i might just go with these dinobots.
I see Grimlock is still around 50eur, and i agree that these colors are pretty radical and this is their thing.
Basically 2 of these dinobots cost like 1 SS86 dinobot.
I hope there will be good stickers
>>
>>11626095
I like my CW Combaticons but I never got the shuttle BlastOff, so I'm stuck with the airplane one.
>>
i hope for beast wars' 30th anniversary hastak releases a weaponizer waspinator we can remove the limbs of and blow up to our heart's content

>>
>>11626108
Update, saw an easy fix of just popping the hips of the ball joints, reversing them on the waist, rotating the waist and plugging it in and it fixes the weak waist.

I did it and it actually really works
>>
>>11626066
>>11626067
I like that they're finishing the set even though these never had G2 figures released, but their bright neon colors feels out of place with the dull primary colors of the other figures. These look like they're more meant to go with the yellow Legacy G2 Grimlock than Blue G2 Grimlock, Red G2 Snarl, and Green.G2 Slug.
>>
>>11626118
I was always disappointed that Kingdom Waspinator didn't at least have removable limbs when we had SS86 Kup in the same year with that feature.

That's because they are. All three of those decos were unreleased concept ones, which did not include Snarl and Slag. It's a weird case where the G2 dinobots were never actually released as a full team, just partial ones, so we have two very clashing aesthetics

Literally the only flaw he has as a figure is that his wrists don't swivel.

Obviously as Big Convoy there are some oddities like his chest being a little wide and his shins could be a smidge longer and his ankle articulation will always bug me, but for a twenty year old figure he holds up fantastically. The Nemesis Prime deco is amazing, I wish everyone could get the opertunity to see one in person.
>>
I'm a BBC enjoyer personally
>>

Nah, the Ultra Mammoth color scheme holds it back, Big Convoys dad is cooler looking.

>3) Black
>4) Blue Big Convoy
>5) Og color/matrix buster set
>6) Mammoth

I have. Like you said, it was incredibly disappointing. It was the kind of story where Grimlock being a huge transforming robot didn't matter at all. You could have replaced him with any generic sword and sorcery hero and the story would have played out the exact same way. Also, Grimlock himself felt oddly stiff and stoic as a character. Also it didn't help that he was using his evergreen design instead of something unique.

I wanted Vortex cause I like him but the more I messed with him the more I just really don't think he's good and the arms drive me insane
They're just such a bad flaw that I almost don't even mess with him anymore

Not including the faction symbols is how those 3rd Party companies avoid lawsuits, anon. The symbols are copywritten, while the appearances of the characters isn't (because they're constantly changing. I think only the Evergreen designs are protected by copywrite). Some 3Ps may include stickers with the symbols bundled in as a "bonus", but for the most part, you're usually going to have to provide them yourself.

you're close. the symbols are registered trademarks, which are much more viciously policed and have no fair use workarounds.
the characters' appearances and indicia are copyrighted, which is a lot easier to argue around.

I remember when this came out I was a kid and knew of grimlock only from wiki searches, so when a new one was coming out I was so excited, I could finally own a TF legend, and he came with swoop who I thought had a great looking robot mode. Of course, this thing never showed up where I was, so once again I only knew of them through the internet. I think the Classics was my first Grimlock (also never saw the RID Grim) and though he disappointed Classics was still a really cool time to be a new fan who got to interact with all the old TFs from the 80s.

For me this guy introduced me to Grimlock before I even knew what G1 really was. Then season 2 happened and the crazy plot twists where it was all earth the whole time, Ravage was from G1 etc. and I found out about everything through the internet around the same time. It was so fucking cool at the time it felt like G1 was legendary and mythical history even though it wasn't really that long ago at the time.

Later I found a Generation 2 Snarl at a yard sale. I lost the original BW Grimlock by that time but I would play with him with Transmetals and shit. I think he was one of my favourite toys because I finally understood why die cast was a lost art.

During BW I read a few of the American comics because my barber would put all of his son's old unused 80s comics in the waiting room for the kids. So I have vivid memories of issue 1 where Ratchet makes hotdogs on his hand or whatever. Growing up when you couldn't just look up anything and slightly before the 80s were milked to death is crazy to think about now.

Maybe kids still feel like that though and I just grew up lol.

I had 10 or so of the comics as a kid, including the one where Optimus blows himself up over a video game, and the later one where his mind is in a VR environment while he's 'dead'. Also Megatron getting stuck as a gun and manipulating some 2-bit gangster.
I know what you mean about the incompleteness of it all back then, for years I didn't know the full line of G1 TFs so every now and then I'd got surprised by seeing Jumpstarters or Firecons who I'd never known existed, it was endlessly fun to wonder about what else might be out there awaiting discovery. I had an incomplete Gunrunner when I was very little and spent an inordinate amount of time speculating on what his altmode was supposed to be. The Ark? A piece of Autobot city? A combiner's shin? Little anon had no idea he was missing a whole car to drive in, or that his altmode was actually "chunk on the bottom of plane".

Had you said SS86 I would agree, but no matter how much of a boner some people get here with the Earthrise, it's not all that great. That bumper and wheels combo in his ass is inexcusable, and the thighs being on plain sight in truck mode is laughable, even the G1 toy was able to hide them and have a solid looking cab.

Eh, its's a fun gimmick when they limit it to the characters that had always been headmasters instead of forcing it were it doesn't belong.

PLEX is a design company that are responasible for the designs and materials of almost every Kamen Rider and Super Sentai (and to an extent Power Rangers) designs from the heroes themselves to the Mechas. Hasbro or whoever owns Power Rangers at the time will never be able to design a good mecha on their own because they will never get the basic fundamentals of a Super Sentai mech. PLEX and Bandai work hand to hand designing the mechs, with Bandai helping the design to ensure it works in toy form and functions with the gimmicks that they have in mind for the toyline and PLEX ensuring that the robot design can be translated into a suit and allow the suit actor full range of movement as best as possible. Just like how Hasbro thought using fabric and muscle padding for the Cosmic Fury suits would be a good idea when in the end they look like cheap cosplay outfits you'd see used in stage show theatres or how they completely missed the point of Changers being a device that produces sounds and you buy collectibles that when inserted causes the Changers to make different sounds based on the item inserted, a plug and play experience that Hasbro doesn't seem to care and instead make a changer that does various callouts and fighting sound effects.
I'm getting off topic so I'll stop there.

I said that because I noticed many American pop brands have fans only prefer the first entry of the franchise, they demand not to evolve and change. Not the brand itself refuse to change.

I think Saban's Power Rangers in the late 2000's are quite good.

Man, fixing these Haslab Primes is frustrating. Most of the ones hasbro sent are either too tight or loose as hell. The one I got also had the bonus of having the upper spine ratchet be stiff as hell, and I accidentally over corrected and now that's a friction joint. Had to do all the fixes for the ones my friends got too, and I feel like I'm going crazy. This is all the shit you normally have to fix on this trash fire:

-T-Bar on the spine. If hasbro did their job right, you'll still need to fix the nub on the back by either cutting it off, or shaving it down a good amount
-Vertical ratchets in the pelvis need the springs replaced since they're way too strong and could break the ratchets. Even if you're ok with them, you still need to open the pelvis since some copies have the ratchet out of the socket due to poor installation at the factory and will break instantly once you move it. Good fucking luck getting the right springs and getting thr pelvis closed after is a nightmare.
-The brace needs some molding as well. While the brace itself isn't an issue, removing after can damage the abdomen due to how tight it ends up, so shave both sides a bit until it can be transformed without issue.
-Last issue is the ratchet at the upper section of the spine, if it's too tight, you'll end up putting too much force on the abdomen. Most copies are fine, but that's still something to look out for.

Meanwhile, all copies of Magnus need the wing connectors molded because all copies are either really tight or nearly impossible to transform without breaking it. There's a few other things, but people really shouldn't go through this shit for a toy.

Well the new Reboot is shown off and it's retelling of MMPR and set to ENTRIELY eat shit before it even debuts because it's like %60-70 AI Slop
So Power Rangers is dead

I always wanted a Transformers x Power Rangers
I do think a smaller Trypticon style Dragonzord would have done well or make the 5 Dinobots be Daizyujin/Dino Megazord
Grimlock in TyrannoZord Colors would go hard
Swoop as Ptera
Sludge as Mammoth
Slug/Slag as Tricera
and Snarl as Sabertooth
It's perfect plus gives us new forms for them
>>
>>11628251
anon you can't put AI in a commercial product
a retelling of MMPR would be bad because it was 1000% of its era and unrepeatable. I'm willing to believe hasbro would be stupid enough to do THAT much, but

>transformers x power rangers
that's how my mom described my old megazords. I think a combiner with individual robot modes is really the only way it could work, so... good thinking.

Dude almost every Gundam has a Char clone (Wing's was the most blatant, since it speed ran Char's 0079 to CCA arc). And I don't really get this 'Transformers is creatively bankrupt but Gundam isn't ' nonsense when the most recent Gundam series was someone's '0079 but Zeon won' fanfic.

Even for every AU Gundam that's original (G, IBO, Turn A) there's one that's a variation of the OYW-style 'rebel space colonies versus a corrupt Earth government conflict' (Wing, X, SEED, AGE).
>>
>>11628339
It looks cooler to me than thighceps.
>>
>>11628342
NTA but comparing Sunbow G1 to Gundam 0079 is like comparing a seafood stick to a superbly cooked lobster dinner. G1 was a toy commercial pretending very poorly to be a war story, Gundam was a war story pretending to be a toy commercial.
>>
>>11628361
And unlike Transformers, Gundam at least provides some love to its previous shows equally. SEED Destiny, one of the more mixed or polarizing anime depending on who you ask gets some updates while Transformers have completely neglected Energon, with only Core Class Megatron being the only thing we got and not a word from it again ever since.

What the actual fuck does >>11627099 mean "The way they divide after attaching them"
You mean are their own bots? Cause literally everybody did that
If you mean Limb wise then god fucking no
They HAVE to be the specific limbs. You can't use a Leg Bot as an Arm or an Arm as a Leg.
They don't have the proper connection

>>
>>11628368
I like that Gundam can experimental with stuffs like the SD Gundam and Build Fighters.
>>
>>11628403
I don't if that would work, but imagine having Construct Bots 2.0 and a cartoon/anime alongside it.

Taking inspiration of Build Fighters but in Transformers. You have bunch of characters building their own custom bots and go into battle and tournaments.

That would be cool idea nonetheless.
>>
>>11628368
Energon (or more accurately Superlink) is one of the most unfairly hated TF incarnations ever. The animation wasn't great (except when it was) and the dub was a complete trainwreck but from what I've seen of the original version it seems like a very "it's OK" series with some cool ideas, which is pretty much the standard for Transformers shows. Also the robot designs and some of the toys rocked.
I swear the Wiki has done so much damage to this fandom.
>>
>>11628371
If the frame combiner doesn't limit it's fun factor, such as the deluxe sized bots can plug into any of the limbs, also cross compatible with other frames (menasor, superion, bruticus, and future release), that would be really cool.
>>
>>11628407
Superlink toys are very fun. It's unfortunate the destrons don't get the superlink ability.
>>
>>11628411
Being able to actually pose the combiner freely withour arms sagging or the whole thing wanting to topple over is more fun to me than swapping, I consider it a good trade-off.

Yeah man. They've got a lot going on. For instance Scorponok's tail becomes a speeder bike that the smaller figures can ride (and you can add the saw blade if you so wish). Likewise with Grimlock's Dino head (only know this cos of the cartoon lol).

No, I caught myself buying from other companies more often. Other than Bandai and Takara Tomy's other robot brands, I recently discovered Korean toys that are really good.

Young Toys:

- Metalions/Biklonz

Choirock:
- Hello Cardbot
- Mecard

Toytron:
- Mini Force

SAMG:
- Metal Cardbot

*Hello Carbot
>>
One of my biggest problems with Superion is how he lacks 5mm ports. Ignoring the hand holes, You get ONE port for each limb + underfoot ports that have basically no use. Silverbolt doesn't even fucking have back ports to store his weapon, you have to use a tab. This also directly affects the 'base' mode since it means you only have like four ports to put guns/turrets/whatever on.

The individual bots only have two ports available for their own guns too, and these are very shallow ports so the guns will pop off. (although if you use the shin hinge to 'open' the back of the legs you can dump all the loose guns into the leg cavities which is REALLY good for storage) You kinda have to store away the leg bot guns or else superion can't stand up fully straight because air raid and skydive's blasters will clash and force you to do an A-pose

Also, no 5mm ports or tabs or whatever on the torso plate sucks

Regardless, Oxtimus Prime is a really neat concept, and I'm loving TenguScream even if his crow mode still sucks (really, why hasn't Hasbro figured out how to do good bird bots yet?).
Also, just now noticing they have actual wrists this time, which was a major gripe I had with the previous two Timelines sets, so at least they can pose well enough with their weapons (Optimus in particular. Giving a character a spear or sword with no wrist rotation absolutely sucks, so I'm glad to see they splurged this time around).

This. Also want a G2 Tank Megatron that's actually like the original toy and not a lazy repaint of a G1 style tank Megs in G2 colors.

The annoying thing is that there are some molds lying around that could be easy retooled into some modern G2 remakes. Maverick would make a good Cyberjet (his transformation scheme is basically an updated Cyberjet transformation) and the recent Hot Wheels crossover guys could be retooled into Laser Rods.

The reason, once again, is because it's a fun design. You try way to hard to make sense of a novelty item.

TFO Orion and Devastation Bumblebee are new molds. From this limited teaser, Orion looks a lot better than the TFO Optimus from a couple years ago.

G2 colors were so fucking cool. I just want the Cyberjets and Dreadwing and Starscream. One of my favourite toys growing up was this guy.
>>
>>11629025
Are you new?
>>
>>11630174
I'd they ever make a new version of Dreadwing and Smokescreen they should get repainted into action master Thundercracker. But just a new Dreadwing is my biggest Transformer wish right now
>>

Hasbro also said a toy of a guy named Liger Jack was a lion.
>>
>>11630174
I'm old enough to know that G2 was a laughing stock that killed the brand until we hit the ultra budget age of CW-present and now Hasbro treats them like it's some beloved successor to G1.
>>
>>11630178
Sure, but in this case they even specify it's a falcon because "falconry was a favoured pastime of samurai lords", so they truly intended it to be one. I guess they thought a raven wasn't as cool, or they just started by giving Starscream a falcon mode and came up with the tengu motif from there.
Nothing stops you from thinking of yours as a raven, though.

>What's wrong with Voyager Cyberjets?
I have to agree with him. Cyberjets should be no bigger than a deluxe. I’d even say core class size except that they’d be the same size as the originals, with probably the exact same ball-jointed articulation, only without the light-piping, so what’s the point.

Galvatron and Blaster too. Galvatron is a matter of whether you preferred him to be purple or blurple but Blaster’s deco was a massive improvement over Kingdom.

Oh, and Buzzworthy Cliffjumper.

I swear, tech from Megatronus would be useful in making Reverse Convoy. No way they can remold a Wave 1 toy for AOTP, but for technical ideas and techniques, it is still fair game.

By the way, some stores in Singapore got their hands on AOTP Deluxes, and managed to get out a video for Quintus Prime, the ninth out of Thirteen Primes who got reviews for the finalized toys. Amalgamous Prime should come out any time now because of course Thanksgiving is close.
Recapping on the next two waves, we're getting Liege Maximo and Nexus Prime on wave 5, and then Vector Prime's package refresh (which should just be a tampo on his Cyber Key) on the final wave. Real weird they release Vector Prime both first and last (first as in during Legacy United, and last on the literal last wave of AOTP).

I'm probably in the minority here, but I really wish for the return of candy toys for Transformers.
Like Minipla started as a cheaper alternative but gradually became a high-quality, fully articulated model kit line.

What class is the Orion gonna be? Feel like half the budget is gonna be put into two big mining saws and a jetpack.

It is true that during G2, Transformers were in decline, but the toys aren't the deal-breaker, infact many good toys came from that era. People simply lost interest, and there were no supporting media for G2. Luckily, Beast Wars came along. Otherwise, Transformers would have faded into obscurity.

Transformers only ever peaked during Michael Bay's era. Like it or not, that's the truth. I don’t hate him like this collective fandom always does. In fact, I appreciate it for the sake of being different, as it brings unique flavors to the robot designs.
>>
>>11630374
>Transformers only ever peaked during Michael Bay's era.
Do bayniggers really? its true bayformers made the IP a multimedia cashcow in the modern times but it never reached the insane sucess the G1 and beast wars era had
>>
>>11630386
Ignore him, he's either retarded or pretending to be retarded for a laugh.
>>
>>11630386
G1 was never as prominent as Star Wars. It is a one-trick pony, better aligned with Masters of the Universe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, more in that category. While Beast Wars was never particularly popular, it successfully revived the brand by distinguishing itself from G1. In contrast, Michael Bay’s adaptations transformed Transformers into a major phenomenon.

I am not taking sides, I am simply stating facts. Take a look at any recent media that attempts to appeal to G1, most have failed. G1 is a product of its time, and I understand fans may cling to their childhood memories, I am not here to judge.

Consider the Skybound comic as an example. At first glance, its cover might suggest a renewed success for G1, but that is misleading. What truly stands out is its approach, it embraces a gritty, violent style. The art does not necessarily have to resonate with G1 to be successful.

I almost did this, but couldn't find a second one is stock.

They could've, at least, released a Stripes redeco for the second whoofer. I guess we'll see that 2032
>>
>>11630412
>Consider the Skybound comic as an example. At first glance, its cover might suggest a renewed success for G1, but that is misleading
Skybound is just another new G1 continuity in all but name.
>What truly stands out is its approach, it embraces a gritty, violent style.
So what are you saying, that Bay introduced violence and grit to Transformers? Did you really never see the 86 movie or read the Marvel G2 comic? You sure this is the hill you want to die on?
>The art does not necessarily have to resonate with G1 to be successful.
But the art *does* resonate. Even compared to other neo-G1 continuities like IDW and Dreamwave, they directly channel the original character models (or go full "tooner" as you fags would say).
>>
>>11630420
>Did you really never see the 86 movie or read the Marvel G2 comic?
As far as I know, humans don’t die violently in it.

That’s the appeal and difference of Skybound. They raise the stakes not just for the robots, but for the humans as well.

By the way, what is your obsession with G1 that makes you go to such lengths to defend it? Stating facts doesn’t necessarily make us enemies, does it? You don’t need to be a superfan of Michael Bay to recognize that he revitalized the brand.

You have to realize that not everyone is slavishly loyal to G1 like you are.
>>
>>11630427
humans died in previous comics
>>
>>11630412
>G1 was never as prominent as Star Wars
matter of fact is that there is barely if any IP that could be comparable to star wars aside of maybe star trek, even so the longevity of G1 product can not be ignored compared to masters of the universe or TMNT

>While beast wars was never particulary popular
A single beast wars episode costed nearly half a million dollars which was insanely expensive at the time if it wasnt particulary popular the cartoon wouldnt never get past season 2, The only reason it never got a 4th season was because of hasbro's retardation
>>
>>11630427
>As far as I know, humans don’t die violently in it.
So you didn't read G2, got it.
>>
>>11630374
Some designs are alright. But mostly doesn't translate well into toy form.
>>
>>11630178
Ligers in Zoids are just lions, so that doesn't mean much.
>>
I don't like Hasbro's predatory business model. They release the same toy multiple times with different colorations and sometimes minor retools, often made up for nonsensical reasons, because they know their fanbase will eat it up. Additionally, they constantly create updated versions of the same characters to make the old ones obsolete.

I wish Mattel or any other company would launch a robot brand that takes off and directly competes with Hasbro.
>>
>>11630466
>hates "predatory business models"
>wants fucking MATTEL to make products
get your shit together
>>
>>11630467
It's just a big company I think of right now. To compete with Hasbro, it must be a globally scaled company, am I right?"

When two giants clash, they are likely to produce their best products, often accompanied by competitive pricing and innovative features to attract consumers.
>>
>>11630472
Lot of assumptions there.
>>
>>11630464
The japanese love the world liger, I can think of several anime were they use it when they could have just gone with lion.
>>
>>11630427
Anon, Skybound is just G1 but edgy. EdG1 if you will. That's the whole appeal.

If it was really trying to channel Bay the transformers would barely be characters and most of the time would be wasted on retarded humans

DJW, despite being a brain-rotted lib, wrote a good saga. Kirkman is already sending it straight into a death dive.
>>
>>11630502

I can't help but notice that Skybound's Transformers have some of the worst looking cover art, it is not comparable to Dreamwave's or IDW's.
>>
>>11630186
Reminder that we had Beast Machines and Last Knight revisionism just this month.
>>
>>11630502
It had a pretty strong start, but I feel that the quality really declined around when Megatron showed up and we got all that cross-over shit. I wish it was written as a miniseries so we could have had a more satisfying narrative structure without the need to bait the readers to continue investing into a serialised format. Megatron should have remained missing/dead, Prime should have died or at least lost the matrix, Magnus should not have returned or at least not recovered as much as he has, the cybertronian resistence plot could be trimmed, characters could be merged and more narrative focus given to a smaller cast, remove the Starscream asspull or at least execute it better.
>>
>>11630512
What that TLK was the most fun I've seen Anthony Hopkins have on camera in over two decades and that alone makes it the second best movie behind how schizo AoE was?
>>
New TF series that’s just continues between G1 season 2 and the movie. No edgy crap. Just Megatron coming up with some Autobot destroying device and Starscream saying “This plan of your won’t work.”

I think Hasbro directly said they kill any proposals for stories set between Season 2 and the movie in an interview once.
>>
>>11630573
They tried that three times I think. They also tried to make a 3rd person moba hero shooter during the end of Prime that never went anywhere.
>>
>>11630374
People don't wanna hear it but you are right and without Bay in 2007 we would be relegated to the toy ghettos of the brands which barely persisted theough the 90s.
>>
>>11630573
Good products cost money, DotM's successful simplification emboldened Hasbro to cut costs every year since, it's why we're getting $45 voyagers that are lighter and smaller than $13 deluxes from 2006. Dark Spark and Reactivate was the attempt to do the same with games but gaming doesn't scale down the same way without complications. It's either 2D Indie shit or mobile and Hasbro doesn't want to take the risk of hiring Indie developers in the same way companies like Sega do.

Really dude, how new are you? Transformers in Japan are super robot as fuck. Samurai Optimus is clearly Japan inspired. It makes perfect sense.

And again, you're really overanalyzing the shit out of a silly novelty toy. Not everything needs to conform to what you think it's normal. Have some imagination and sense of wonder. It's a fun concept and that's it.
