Starting off with Metasaurs, a line of robot dinosaurs in the same vein of Zoids that are 3D puzzles made out of punchout plastic sheets and balljoints that were sold in the early 2010s. As far as I can find there were only these three designs.

Something about this one keeps mesmerizing me.

>some parts of it were ripped off from Zoids
>was distributed worldwide
>a fuckload of different models and toys that no one ever bothered to catalogize
>just when you thought you've seen them all you find a new one at a thrift store, asia shop or flea market that you've never seen before and there are so many different types of toys, be it wind-up mechs, pull back motor vehicles, remote controlled ones, submarines, flywheel vehicles, etc., in so many different and sometimes incoherent colors that you can't even be sure if what you're looking at is genuine or a bootleg

Holy shit I had these. I don't think I thought about them since I was a kid and its bringing so many weird memories back. You were right about the colors mine were purple and neon orange. I only ever had a zoid as a kid so I treasured all the little pilot guys and loved them a lot.

never had them but i had some KOs based on these

>Metasaurs
Holy shit. Never thought I would ever see the name dropped on this board in a million years. These things were made by a Korean company named Enjoimobil. The kits were printed on diecut foamcore boards that you punched out and scored to create the dinosaurs. There were two additional sets in the line: one based on the pteranodon and one based on the eoraptor. There was also a line of Metabots which were Gundam-like robot designs. No clue how many were there, but there were at least two.

Neat stuff. Particularly like the brontosaurus being an aircraft carrier with pterodactyls.
>>
>Toy Quest's Androidz
Released as a TRU exclusive line in 2010, they served as a spiritual successor to Z-bots
>Monster 500
A line of Rat Fink/Big Daddy Roth looking cars featuring fully painted cartoony monster drivers.
>SLUG Zombies
Kinnikuman/MUSCLE styled collectible figures of zombies and survivors alike

I didn't realize there were so many other kits in this line. Wild. These things were huge when you put it together, but they were also pretty light Being made of foam board. The weight didn't put much stress on the joints, but the models didn't feel the sturdiest.

Robotix. So forgotten I couldn't even remember what these were called and had to look at a list of toy brands on Wikipedia until I found the name I recognized.

I had a ton of these as a kid, some of them were pretty big

Metasaurs (also known as D-Trons in Asia) were distinct from Zoids in that the kits weren't motorized, were more posable than Zoids, and were made from laminated styrofoam sheets. The concept of animal-inspired mecha didn't start with Zoids, but I'll grant that Metasaurs probably wouldn't exist without the popularity without Zoids.

What's really crazy is that Robotix was still being sold up until a few years ago.
>>
>>11627749
I wish there was more zoids love on this board :/

Nobody remembers Disney Store's Toybox line. Pretty much the only reason Id visit that store more often. If the Marvel and Star Wars werent worth it, then the main Disney toys were worth a look at least. I still love their Boba and Thor though

I remember! are they still making new Toy Box figures? it's been a while since I payed attention to it, but I thought it was still going

The Disney Toy Box line was a game-less continuation of the Disney Infinity game's art style, that attempted to blend all the characters together with a similar-look.

much like the Lego version of Skylanders, Disney Infinity ended much too soon. at least they sort of kept up the spirit with the Toy Box figures

I love them still, haven't built one since I was a kid though. I still have boxes of them in my attic most of them are kind of disassembled and broken though.

I used to get imported TOMY Japanese ones from this store called Image Anime in NYC back in the 2000s but eventually they also had the Hasbro ones at FAO Schwartz.

I bought quite a few of the HMM ones from Kotobukiya many years ago too but haven't got any in ages. They were more like Gundam kits not motorized and highly detailed but pretty cool looking.

It was dead for about 10 years and the. Came back in the late 90s.

The 80s sets had the best box art. The theme for the cartoon pilot rips too.

It might have been the worst offender of the toys not looking like the show as well

Infinity was wasted potential. Lego Dimensions was just one game but it still did everything better

I want to love Zoids too. I just hate plamos anymore. My favorite Gun Sniper is such an over piecey mess, that it makes me miss the old Tomy/Hasbro one sometimes. Here's something forgotten, Zoids action figures.

I remember those fuckers. My brother had that exact one. And long after the figure had been forgotten about, the pop-ball shell part was still something that got played with.

I have never met another living soul that remembers Storm Hawks. It was such a cool concept.

Half-motorcycle, half-fighter jet. Launch from an airborne aircraft carrier with a lightsaber in hand and go fight the bad guys.

What's not to love?

Toys kinda left a lot to be desired, though.

My secondhand toy store had a shelf full of the Zoids Wild kits. That was the only time I ever saw them at retail.
