The concept of 1.0s, 2.0s and the like is flawed. I don't think of specific figures as 2.0 or something, I view it as eras. From 2009 or whenever the line started to 2018 was the 1.0 era work the old ball hips, no torso articulation, and the like. Then with SEoE you started the 2.0 era. Now where the new current era starts is kind hard to judge. While they made changes for characters like SH Gohan, o still feel there was a lot of 2.0 era design philosophy going on with him, same with the Diama figs. Meanwhile, Games Begin Goku really feels like a whole new type of figure from SHF. There's very little in terms of 2.0 era engineering in that figure so I'd argue that the 3.0 era really begins now. Especially since we're getting so many new Goku's based on this design philosophy. I'm wondering if the new Vegeta will follow similar design conventions.

What you think and feel is irrelevant. Bandai themselves made the distinction of dividing the "1.0" and "2.0" eras as starting with Awakened Warrior Goku which released in either 2015 or 2016. They made a big deal of renewing the articulation, engineering, and detailing. That's also when the changed the box style, and that is where the draw the line dividing the line in the history of the line book that comes with the manga MUI Goku.

The Games Begin Goku is the first time since then they have gone out of their way to show that they are renewing the engineering and articulation, though that doesn't come with a box change.

The problem is that the "2.0 era" had a lot of different articulation setups and whatnot, likely experimenting based on the character's design or build or whatever. It is kind of a moot point to even really talk about 1.0/2.0/3.0/etc. now because there are just so many different ways they do articulation and engineering, whereas during the 1.0s and early part of the 2.0s they largely stuck with the same engineering.

Arrived last week. Finally got the time to unbox it. I still hate the thigh flaps. I'm guessing it's to make the silhouette smoother. But desu, I'd rather not have the flaps in return for better range of motion. The previous one (e.g., Goku SSJ4, Superhero Gohan) works just fine.

But other than that, I'm loving this figure a lot. 9/10

The rumor going around as of yesterday is that one of the projects is a DBS remake starting from BoG again. It sounds as ridiculous as turning Goku into a kid again but it kinda makes sense if you think about it more. Recommending someone DBS is a mess. It's like, watch the movie versions of BoG/RoF cause they're better, then watch from episode 28, then Broly movie, then you can read 2 manga arcs if you want and then another movie. A hypothetical Super remake is much less episodes. The movie versions of bog/rof were like 90 minutes, you could cover each arc in 5 episodes each. They're very large compared to every other figuarts. It looks good in person, the initial face pics were fucked up somehow, but it also ruins the Figuarts SSJ4 Goku and Vegetas because they're not to proper SSJ4 scale.
The best place to get them on Ali has over 30 of each variant still in stock now, it's looking like it's kind of a bust. I am still passing for now. Whether or not I regret this depends on the scale Kamione/Tonsen goes with for their SSJ4 Gogeta.

Got that Solemn Valor Version A Vegeta yesterday. Let me preface this by saying I absolutely hate the look of every body and most of the faces of the 3rd party Vegetas. They have weird fat bodies and the faces are nowhere close. That Tonsenarts Vegeta head people were bragging out when it came out was horrible for example. That's not to say the officials are great, but the faces are usually a bit closer but the body has worn out its welcome. I seen this Blackhole Majin one though from someone on here I think last thread and liked it.

The faces on Solemn Valor are amazing. Almost 1 to 1. The hair is done great too and really captures the SS2 look without going way too big. The body itself is too buff, however it could pass for a Super Vegeta body in another costume which I can forgive more than the child bearing hips effort of other 3rd parties. I think if his legs were just a touch slimmer he'd be more accurate in body. His joints are very tight as well. Very impressed by him. I liked him so much I ordered the battle damaged Demons Awakener one.

My only really issue is the hair isn't quite the same color as the officials. Has a sheen and lightness to it. But the hair color and buffness aside, he's still the best looking Vegeta I think I've seen. The new one coming out is the only Vegeta that looks close (though more accurate to the time). At least Vegetas are looking like Vegeta again.

I might have to find a good Ultra Ego head because the body might work pretty good for that.

Awakening hasn't aged gracefully, but there was a point where that was (imo) the definitive Goku figure for a minute. Like it is easy to clown on 1.0 and Awakening, but those figures crawled so Games Begin could run sort of thing. People (rightfully) shit on Bandai quite often, but, at least in the context of the DB line, the improvements to sculpt, faces, and articulation over the ~15 years this line has existed has been crazy and I can't think of another toy line that comes close. I think it really suits the android and cell saga well. I couldnt watch those arcs without it. On the other hand im glad they never fucked with the og score for db and the saiyan saga, that shit IS meant to sound like a kung fu movie, and faulconers score suits the series shift into a more sci fi direction
