Sigh, why am I not surprised, I called it last thread I made >>11579707

Bring Arts Aerith Mythil Rod version aka just with a "new hat" edition. side eye smiling face is kinda lazy, atleast with Tifa's new alt face, it is a "smug" fighting side eye face, Aerith's is pretty similar to her default smiling face with only the eyes looking at a side instead of straight, guess Barret with a "new hat" edition is not far off if SE continues this trend

its ridiculous cloud didnt get an alt face, they better be saving it for a 2.0 cloud with zack's upper torso engineering.

This is what I am hoping, after getting Zack, I feel Cloud being the protagonist of the game should get a version 2, most who have bought the first release and releases most probably wouldn't be mad and majority will most likely "double dip" me including, the alt faces I think SE added after the Bring Arts Hardedge version is because alot of collectors skipped it, if they do make a v2 of Cloud, I would want him to have pull out shoulder joints similar to figma 2.0s like Saber 2.0 but idk if SE can pull it off as their engineering has a spotty track record with not so good joint quality

>>11630926
Yeah, this is me and probably others would prefer but SE are greedy, I still have my copy in storage

>>11630930
Remake FFVII figures are probably going the SHIN route spear headed by Vincent and Cloud, I could be wrong though but thats what I see is the most likely scenario that will happen

Hmm... from all the playable characters of Bring Arts FFVII I own, he isn't the worst but he is among the least I fear on posing, I have the first release and it is notorious for the legs popping out but my copy is tight and for owning it for 2 years, the legs particularly the right 1 pop out only once and that was when I tried sitting him in the Hardy Daytona as seen here>>11630922

From what I see and hear, the qa and engineering did improve the longer the line continued, Cloud got the short end of the stick as he was the first one to be released and when compared to the last release like Zack, you do see the improvements SE did for the line, its funny though that they could have stuck with the protoype Bring Arts Cloud they showed in an event in 2022 as it looks like its similar to what Barret's, Cid's and Zack's hip joints tech they use and not too overcomplicate stuff and the figure(first release) wouldn't have been problematic, as the saying goes simplicity is the best

Its been years since I handled the original Play Arts game version of Cloud but I have the Hardy Daytona bundle and besides the better face paint/print compared to the single released Play Arts Cloud, I don't remember there is a problem with the figures, they were made by Kotobukiya after all so they have better experience in making figures than SE themselves

FF stopped feeling like FF pretty much with the start of XI. XII was the last one I took seriously, and I didn't care really at all much for XIII. And that fact that those two were sandwiched between two MMORPGs just killed my interest personally.I didn't even bat an eye at XV and frankly didn't even know they were making XVI until like a month before it came out.

I want them to actually go back and do figures for games that made their popularity explode. I want Bring Arts of IV, VI, CT, and more FFT figures.

>>11631398
You're not wrong. As Square Enix moved further away from its classic roots, the more it showed. And they openly refuse to make new games along the lines of the classics but hey they don't mind taking your nostalgia-money for five new versions of Cloud and Sephiroth every year.
>>
>>11631398
I'll be surprised to see them ever make full size figures of 4 or 6's casts despite the games popularity; the characters don't have consistent designs. CT would be easy and would definitely sell well but they don't seem to hold the game in high regard anymore for whatever reason.

While I agree with the majority that SE needs to stop re-re-releasing old figures with a "new hat" and they should look at their other neglected FF series, you can't blame them as the FFVII Bring Arts line does give them the results they want, if I am in their shoe, I would do it too, at the end of the day it is all about business and making the most money, I hate it but its their IPs and they hold them so its their call, I wish they would just release an accessory pack along side the old figures with a "new hat" so previous buyers won't need to double dip, kinda like what they did with the Bring Arts Hardy Daytona, they released one with Cloud and one with bike only

I dont blame them going in on FF7 bring arts, but it sucks that we're never moving on from that focus. We received a full FF9 set somehow, but otherwise no game gets this treatment and if the future games remain centered around 7, the merchandise will follow suit.
For those of us who also love some of the other games it's dull and with square enix keeping a tight leash on their licensing, it's not like there's alternatives either.

Yeah, the reissue are mostly on sale which is great to get them now if you do plan to get into the series as these will rise in price come they sold out in the future, SE already did earn lots of money off the 1st release and reissues so re-releasing the same figure with a new hat is additional net income for them with minimal effort which I don't like

Ha, I was focusing on the head swap that I didn't notice the gap on the background/floor

With how SE went with releasing new hat versions of old figures instead of just releasing accessory packs, I continued with my plan on getting the beads as a Materia accessory as SE won't probably release these. I got the beads from a local online platform in our country, pretty cheap as it was only 85 cents for all, I bought the wrong size for the "white" Materia as its so small it looks almost powdery lol, I might buy more desu as these quantity isn't enough to fill the treasure chest I bought years ago

>>11641077
It will be up to you desu, what do you fancy more between the 2?

Personally for me, I would go for the Regular one, it has her Guard Stick which is her default and most recognizable by many, it also has her closed eyes face which goes well with her prayer hands as opposed to the side eye face of the Mythril Rod version which is kinda similar to her default face except the eyes are looking at a side

>>11641212
Oh someone has him already, haven't seen someone upload a pic of the fig in Twitter. guess I will be on a look out, he is supposed tobe out on the 6th.

From what I read on FB groups, collectors plan to sell their old PAK Noctis for cheap but only take the other sword(Sword of the Father). I think I saw someone 3d printed the Royal Arms in transparent plastic/resin for the Gametoys Noctis so it is possible to resize the model to be used for the SHIN figure, still at these are priced they ask, SE should really add more

I mean, the sword was not designed by Nomura but it’s still a very important plot object that they included in almost every single promo art of the game. I find it so weird they just decided not to include it in his recent figures anymore. Adorable Arts and statue don’t have it either. There’s also a rumor floating around that XV might get a current gen re-release next year for the 10th anniversary with story changes. I wonder if there’s a connection to that or if it’s just a coincidence.

XV would have been alright game if they somehow merged all of its multimedia shit into the game and fixed the combat too. But you're right, SE is too much of a cheapskate to make any of that happen. I don't expect much at this point.

I'm just gonna assume the lack of accessories in their figures is all due to their laziness.

True, SE recently opened their own gashapon store named SQEX Capsule Garden in Shibuya, this was a better way to release new weapons for their Arts line imo, collectors will definitely pull many times just to try and get the ones they want or to complete the whole set

>>11646150
Which scale do you prefer more will be your answer, Bring Arts are kinda scaled around figma, Mafex, SHF size more or less while Play Arts Kai/SHIN are in a scale of their own, around 1/8 ish scale so it is smaller than Hot toys equivalent 1/6 scale figures but bigger than 1/12 scale figures, PAK/SHIN are basically a scale of their own it is very rare for other figure makers if there is any to release figure based on this scale

I can only speak for Bring Arts. Let's say you really need to love the source material. Honestly, I know Play Arts has its own problems, but if I could restart my collection, I'd probably go with Play Arts. They aren't too big, it seems, and they're more detailed with double jointed limbs. They also tend to go on sale very often, so the extremely expensive items, including all the bikes, are usually discounted by 1/3 of the original price. Additionally, there are tons of characters that don't have a Bring Arts counterpart.

Though, if you collect 1/12 mostly, then Bring Arts is probably the way to go.
>>
>>11646902
The only other toy stuff I have is a few Gundam models and Warhammers, so my scales are all over the place. But if PA is more detailed and better articulated than BA, I'll go with them. Thanks!

I don't have experience from Bring Arts other series except for the FFVII series, since Bring Arts are around the same scale of figma, Mafex, SHF, etc and SE based off the FFVII line from the 90's designs which they rarely use nowadays when releasing merch even if I already quitted collecting, it made me come back to the hobby, the FFVII line has problems like dated articulation, lack of accessory for the price point they command, its really hard to recommend it to others unless you are a big fan of the IP, one thing it does right is that the figures really captures their classic look from the 90's like it came out from Nomura's artwork, also atleast the Bring Arts line manages to complete a team like the FFIX, Trials of Mana and the FFVII, unlike the Play Arts non Kai and Kai, they haven't completed any main team yet, its either no Barret or no Cid or no Cait Sith and now they go straight to SHIN which means back to square one and release Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Sephiroth for the nth time

If you will get Play Arts/Kai Tifa, I would suggest for you to wait till they release her in their SHIN line, PAKs are notorious for looking good from promo pics but the faces of the final product looks different that most of the time, SE will release a v2 of some sort to fix the problem, so far the SHIN line is ok with the faces of the final mass produced figures but still it is better to wait out for others to get their figures first so you will know if there will be a problem or not

Idk when it was implemented but a thread autosages after 14 days and you can't bump it anymore, I really don't like this as /toy is a slow board compared to others so its easy to push a thread to page 10 when other posters just post a small thread asking for a simple question

>Wait for PAS Tifa
OK, yeah that makes sense for her normal costume at least. So if I was going to get one of the existing ones I should go for one of her dress costumes, and if possible look at it in person before buying it. Thanks!

Yeah that doesn't make much sense. If a thread is still on the board for 14 days without hitting the post or image limit, then by definition it must be on a slow board. I don't know what they were aiming for with that

The thread turned into an adult and is on the way to its grave.

I found a place that has the original Play Arts Squall for 50 bucks. It was up on a shelf behind the counter so I didn't get a close look at it. I know it's a pretty old figure and I was going to ask if it holds up OK, but I think I answered that question just by looking online for an example pic.

So I guess my actual question is, is the original Play Arts Squall as derpy as the online pics make it look?
>>
I don't have that Squall but I do have the old Play Arts AC and game versions and I can say that articulation wise, they are very dated, as for the looks, I didn't hear much complains for him during his release, only Selphie and Rinoa was criticized for being looking slightly off, I kinda remember a Japanese blog where he/she customized Selphie and Rinoa to look like their game counterparts, sadly I think the blog is lost in time

Play Arts Squall was released in 2006 so that is almost 2 decades, so sculpt will be very outdated to today's standards, still FFVIII has barely any merch so your options for a Squall figure is very limited, you can wait and see if they will release a Bring Arts of FFVIII or maybe a Play Arts SHIN of Squall if you have the patience to really wait as SE I feel doesn't want to release merch from this series compared to lets say FFX, Yuna and Tidus got a Play Arts Kai figure when FFX got remastered and just recently, they got a new updated Play Arts Kai, FFVIII got a remaster as well(which I haven't finished yet) a couple of years ago and no new figures from the series

Basically for the FF PS1-PS2 era, sans FFVII as it is SE's poster series for FF, these are what they released/upcoming so far

Play Arts
FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFXII

Play Arts Kai
Squall Dissidia version(last Squall figure released) FFX(2x)

Play Arts SHIN
FFIX, FFXII

Bring Arts
FFT, FFIX, FFXI

Maybe when someone from SE reads this and they might release FFVIII figures soon?

What I really don't like about Play Arts Shin, even more than the insane prices, is that it gives them an excuse to do new figures for characters who already have PAKs. Which means there are even fewer release slots available for new characters to get figures
>>
Any thoughts on the Terra PAK? Is 150 a good price?

Not familiar with PAK Terra and how much she goes for now(did a quick browse on Manda and Mercari) but for 150 USD, I guess that should be good price for her, I will let others who owns her chime in their experience but a quick Google search plus visiting the MFC page of said figure yielded no widespread problem but do make sure it is authentic though, post pics of the figure so others can tell if it is genuine or not

While thread is still up, might as well post these

With Barret being released, I guess SE plans to release the whole roster in this line although it is surprising Barret and Nanaki got released first when its usually Tifa and Aerith who gets announced first

Awesome. Recently got sephiroth and he's really fun. These are cheap enough to not make a dent too, so I'll be collecting all of them. Got the small ones too, except for the chasers. Not sure if I'll hunt them down, since Zack came out as a big one already.
