Welcome to the Fashion Doll General!

A thread for discussion of fashion dolls including Barbie, Disney, LOL OMG, Rainbow High, Monster High, Licca-chan etc but not BJD. There is a BJD general over in /jp/.

Other toys considered dolls as well as girl collectable toys that are related to dolls or can be used as accessories to dolls are also welcome such as LOL, Shopkins, Polly Pocket and the like.

*Reminder to ignore trolling, bait and off topic posts instead of responding.*

The movie is a bit campy, so it fits; it's a nice touch.

>>11631251
Why are her eyes so big...
>>
>>11631251
Could've been okay but the eyes being so close together and hair being a messy afro instead of Edward's wisps ruins it.

>>11631263
That's the one thing not to complain about, they always do object heels and these are two big objects he cut in the film.
>>
>>11631698
>That's the one thing not to complain about
Object heels aren't inherently the problem. But if they're gonna be lazy and just pop random recognizable props onto the heel then honestly they just shouldn't bother for this one, MH dolls have plenty of normal heels too, a nice set of gothy platforms would have been good

Anyone else miss when Mga was dominating the shelves? I miss the excitement of their dolls leaking piece by piece, toy hunting something new every month, them being available everywhere, having high quality clothes, accessories and design.

Rn I collect Monster high but they dont hit the same way especially when most of the g1 stuff is pretty inaccessible for casual collecting and that g3 is so slow on releasing new characters and deluxe lines that aren't surprise.
>>
>>11632145
Yup it was a real nice few years, real tragic, wish I was a bigger fan of Bratz, that's where all MGAs doll money is going

Go to bed, MGA shill. They fired all their social media marketers. Issac isn't paying you anymore. That is unless you're willing to do private scat fetish porn for him.
>>
>>11632949
At least being an Mga shill is less embarassing than being a Matttel shill, they kept all of their designer instead of mass laying them off to remplace them with ai slop.
>>
>>11632145
I miss it too. Going to the shelves always felt like I was going to find something and strike gold. Now it feels like its just slop.

Issac Larian is MGA's CEO. He came up with the Poopsie Surprise Unicorns, which was based on his 'interest" on poopoo-peepee stuff as a child.
>Press X to doubt.
Anyway, someone in MGA had better common sense and thus, Poopsie Surprise unicorns gave way to the Rainbow Surprise dolls, which in turn gave way to the smaller Rainbow High dolls. So there there will always be a precedent linking RH to furry scat fetish fuel. For the children.

From 2016 to 2018 every toy company was doing poop themed toys, Kids love toilet humour even Mattel was doing it, at least poopsie surprise were just pretty glitter slime instead of realistic brown shit.

I don't know why you dorks fawn over this soulless ginger over the superior BAPS in this wave. Mattel knew Midge wouldn't sell en masse. That's why she was the chase doll. Finding her at Ross just proves my point.
>>
>>11635243
I like the steffie facemold and ginger hair, and I disagree that the others looked better, her outfit is the best one and was wasted on a basic millie
>>
>>11635266
Unfortunately, the Deluxe Style kine is failing because Mattel keeps giving them pixelated faces and nobody wants that, plus some of the fashions are made of awful quality.

anybody happen to know how MDD clothes fit on a Barbie? Or a doll that's slightly larger than Barbie. I have a Disney store doll that can fit into the Barbie fashion packs but I want to get it some nicer clothes and I like the look of some of the MDD stuff but I have no clue how it'd fit.

They were on a good streak since the second wave of sparkle girls but they had to miss with those omg queens soggy nachos.
I fear the only way for rainbow high to really comeback in this economy is to go fully unarticulated to have the quality of before.
>>
>>11640405
One thing that really constantly pisses me off about Western dolls is that they never, ever, use pastels anymore. Only Asians seem to understand gentle pinks, greens, and blues. For fucks sake, why does everything have to be eye bleed saturated to hell?

Regardless, the kids will probably love this but I hate all of them unfortunately.
>>
>>11635243
There's multiple problems, unfortunately. Her outfit isn't flattering, her bangs are inconsistent from doll-to-doll and are clunky at best, her lips are poorly painted on depending on the doll, and the body she's on is a bad facsimile of the old LITD dolls, missing flexibility, rooted eyelashes, and better joints.

But, the original is one of the prettiest dolls Mattel has ever put out. Even getting like 50% of the original is worth it.

>>11639037
I hate this obsession but I'm otherwise a normal person who dates and has relationships.
>>
>>11641400
If you don't stick the gems on 2 of these are entirely pastel
>>
>>11640405
Mga is such a bizarre company because why is that dress so detailed with paneling on the top, embossed design, ribbon trim, scallop edge, random real zipper threads with fake electroplated tiny pull, layered skirt, dip dye tulle, all with different fabrics yet it's still ugly because this was a simplified design from a much better coherent prototype.
I do understand why monster high is beating their ass because they design within their means even if the quality is questionable.
>>
>>11642334
If you think this level of saturation on the dolls is pastel you need your monitor checked
>>
>>11635069
I found #8 for the same price. Not huge on the head but I can probably swap that out later.

Ross also had rhe made to move tennis player for 7 oe 8, monster high for like 13.

Ollies had the roller blade movie barbie for $10.

Good time to look and buy

Probably mattel and others no longer giving doll clothing jobs to normal straight women
>>
>>11643263
It's not even the designer's fault (who is a straight woman) it's Mattel cutting the budget. Personally, I'd discontinue the Inspiring Women line since nobody buys them.
>>
Why do the Wednesday dolls out right now have so many quality issues? Like holy shit, for $45 there should be no bald spots or misprinted facial screenings at the very least.

...do the girls you date look like Midge? Kek
>>
>>11644378
>...do the girls you date look like Midge

Probably. 4chan has a lot of peds. And peds obsess over flat redheads
>>
>>11644621
Midge isnt flat and is an adult
>>
>>11644378
>...do the girls you date look like Midge? Kek
Ideally, yes, haha. But attractive redheads with blue eyes aren't exactly common or easy to date. But yeah, at least half of my girlfriends have been redheads.

>>11644621
Weird take.
>>
I got one more Midge. I think her appearance at Ross/Discount Stores is dropping her price, so I got a really great deal and couldn't resist. I don't think I'm going to be skulking around the toy section of Ross as a grown man trying to hunt for her, especially because a trip to Ross is way out of my way. I live like equidistant from 3 of them, but never drive by.

I'm going to tap out of buying any more at this point though, and let other people have a chance. That'll be 3, and that's enough... unless the Ross releases drop their prices to like, sub-$30. The first one I got had a damaged box in the mail, so now I'll have two undamaged.

I do wonder if they'll ever reprint her or similar.
>>
>>11644656
Peds have some sort of red head exception.

Im not a ped scientist though. I've known 1 real ped and the ones on co and toy. They all seem to make an exception for 18 year old red heads that are slender. Girls who look like season 3 Max . Guy I had the misfortune of knowing in real life had an obsession with that type of girl. Like it was the last chance out of pedo town and marrying a normal woman.

But I digress. Its a depressing topic.
>>
>>11649494
Oh I know pedos have a weird obsession with redheads, I've been to /co/, I just dont think midge-anon is a pedo, doll collectors focusing on one specific doll/character to an insane degree isnt unusual

What was the verdict on the basics doll? I've got a soft spot for the made to move curvy body.

Also, has mattel released the curvy made to move body with a pale or light white skin tone? I feel like they have all been tan
