Hello /toy/, I've been watching the toy story trilogy and it's making me reminisce over my childhood, So I wanted this thread for all the Anons here that want to tell their toys stories, both real and imaginary.>What Toys did you play with as a kid?>did you lose some?>what adventures did they go on?>did you make lore for your toy world?>When did you start losing interest in your toys, and when did you regain it?>Do you still play with your toys? be it by yourself or with your own children?>any funny little incidents involving your toys?
>>11631223I was definitely a Sid. I made so much fucked up kitbashes and pretty much ruined or destroyed everything.
>What Toys did you ply with as kid?G.i. joes, TMNT, 5poa figures (batman, robin hood, star wars)>did u lose some?I left my only saint seiya figure at grandmas once, never saw it again.>what adventures did they go on?I used to have my main joe team which were the most realistic ones, I would put the few backpacks I had on them, give them the coolest looking guns then go outside and I would pretend they were on a LRRP on my garden... then I would finish playing but leave the figures outside for several days, until I came back for them as the proverbial rescue helicopter and now their mision was completed.>did you make lore for your toy world? Most of my playtime was with joes so the lore is pretty much stablished.>When did you start losing interest in your toys, and when did you regain it?I remember I tried to play again after a long time not touching my toys, it must have been 7th or 8th grade about 12 years, I picked them, put them in place and the pretend voices just didn't came out... it was like a switch had turned off in my brain>Do you still play with ur toys? be it by yourself or with your own children?I pose them on my desk, bring them outside to take pictures of a couple of them at times but big battles... not anymore, not because of lack of desire but lack of space and time.>any funny little incidents involving your toys?-once I cried because the webgear on my movie TMNT wouldn't stay in place. It was pretty cringe in retrospect.-got a small race car out from a Kinder Surprise egg as a kid, I put it together and I used a nearby flowerpot as a mud track... I still remember it today at 40yo.-I remember putting Terminator, predator and Demo man toys in water bowls and freezing them then liberating them next day.-I got the coolest toy in 3rd grade secret santa: a transforming bruce wayne from 1989 batman (or batman returns?)I was a mean bastard too, burned lots of plastic soldiers, hot wheels cars, once even shot a st.seiya armor with a bb gun.
>>11631223>I've been watching the toy story trilogyThank God they never made a fourth one, it would have sucked.
Post the youtube link when you finish scraping this thread so annons can see their effort in your 'work'.
I used to post a lot of Lego stuff on mocpages. There were groups where you could could play RPG type games and write up stories with lego builds as visuals which I enjoyed doing. Was a good time for me but then like in Toy Story I stopped when I moved for college in 2018 and left my Lego collection at my parent’s house. And I think a few months later the site shut down with no warning and I lost hundreds of photos and all the stories I had written. People who saw it coming were backing up their work but desu at that point I didn’t care anymore and thought if I lose it whatever
>>11631223>What Toys did you play with as a kid?Mostly Bionicle, Zoids and Transformers, but had a modest collection of DBZ and numerous misc dinosaur toys. >did you lose some?Often, but the greatest loss was a parental "you're too old for these, we're making you get rid of them" from my mom around the age of 14. Some sad losses on that day, like Armada Tidal Wave. Did lose some in my back yard though. Pic related, one of my DBZ toys I found in my old back yard while visiting my parents one day. >what adventures did they go on? Also found some old plastic dinosaur toys buried in their driveway, and a digivolving growlmon where my swingset used to be. My back yard was this sloped hill that never grew grass on it for several years. It was like a slanted version of the generic background wasteland you'd see in some DBZ fights. So mostly? DBZ-style fights where one toy would be hit and skid along the ground, kicking up dirt. Sometimes I dug out caves for them to hide in. As I got older I did some stop motions with them>did you make lore for your toy world? My Bionicle had their own canon that they ran on, mainly centered around a made up great being that was forced into the body of a matoran. Lots of old Bionicle MOCs with their own storylines. >When did you start losing interest in your toys, and when did you regain it?Never lost it. >Do you still play with your toys? be it by yourself or with your own children? Not really. I mostly just collect and pose, take funny pictures from time to time>any funny little incidents involving your toys?I once ended a friendship because a friend wouldn't trade a mouser from a 2003 Ninja Turtles playset thing for a Dragon Ball GT trading card, despite the fact that he had like, 6 of them. It was very stupid and very petty.
>>11631501Accidentally added one of those onto one of the questions instead of the answers. Pasta fazoole, I am a fool
>>11631223>What Toys did you play with as a kid?Mostly star wars but around when i got older as a teen i got heavily into transformers and gi joe and even some 2000s doctor who figures>did you lose some?Yes sadly, my mom trashed alot of them behind my back sometimes>what adventures did they go on?Well i would bring alot of my star wars aliens out with me(the alien and droid figures were my favroite) so i pretend they were in bars and such at various restaurants>did you make lore for your toy world?Sometimes but it would get rewritten alot too>When did you start losing interest in your toys, and when did you regain it?I never lost interest in toys>Do you still play with your toys? be it by yourself or with your own children?Yes>any funny little incidents involving your toys?Gold plastic syndrome is a bitch. I tried buying an old C-3PO figure i had as a kid recently and its joints crumbled when i opened it
>>11631223I love Toy Story. Actually just ordered the Disney Store Buzz. I had to readjust my order though, I contacted support but got treated like a child.. I gave all the order info and then got asked>is someone a big fan of Toy Story?Felt so patronising kek, worse when I asked back and got told "my son is haha". Is it always like this when buying toys bros? I'm just getting into it ;_;
>>11638273The physical disney store employees had that same attitude when they were still a thing. The patronizing aspect is just the way they are. Also toy story 1 is one of my favorite movies of all time too. I dread 5 coming out next year and i really really hope my dad doesnt drag me to see it the way he did with 4. What other toys do you wanna collect if youre just getting into this hobby?
>>11631223Mostly played with my wrestling figures. I had my own "shows" just like the WWE with continuity and everything. Played daily then weekly. Genuinely would spend hours on a show, doing the commentary and everything. I remember oncee it was the royal rumble but I needed time to do the full event so settled on a weekend evening after I'd showered and everything. I had a tiny scorpion from MK figure that knocked this giant undertaker out from the rumble, it was a huge upset. Wrestlemania was wild too, the whole roster tried to end Undertaker's streak for some reason and failed when he still kicked out at 2 with everyone piled on top of him. Eddie Guerrero went down in history when he frog splashedd someone through an action man car. HHH was my favourite so his reign of terror continued in my shows. I had the set in the pic. It's £300ish on ebay now. I paid £30. I can still smell the it. So many play features.. It was awesome getting a new figure and suddenly having an entirely new possibility of storylines opening up, And it was all just for me. And shit was it fun. I remember more than I thought. There was no audience, no one cheering, no one else in the world who knew a thing about my world here. It was just me. And my toys. And god it was great. Don't have an ounce of that creativity anymore. I couldn;t put any of that together, or think about half of the makeshift stuff I used to do to recreate moments. Even just using those plastic pizza savers you used to get with takeaway pizzas as tables. I also lost my entire collection. In my teens I went into the whole "I'm too grown up for all this now" and they got stored away. One day I came back from college to learn they'd all been given to charity and I had no clue. Still stings. Moreso because at the time I was just beginning to get over the whole "i'm too old for this" and getting into the "just like what you like bro" phaase. I'd have gone back to them. Maybe not to play, but I would have...
>>11638281>Don't have an ounce of that creativity anymore. I couldn;t put any of that together, or think about half of the makeshift stuff I used to do to recreate moments.I wanna play with my toys more and ive been doing it more so lately but ive just been so depressed. I end up talking to them more as a form of self therapy then actually playing with them
>>11638279Fair, fair. It felt they might as well have asked if I was a manchild lmao4 was indeed terrible, the antithesis of everything the series set up to be. I knew the ending before I watched so I tried to judge the film discounting the ending, and by those standards it was okish, but overall just a terrible film. 5 I have little interest in, I'll watch it probably but they already retconned 4's oscar bait ending. The premise sounds boring though, it's a bit late to do the whole tech>toys thing and the thing is, it's such a lazy narrative. Kids do still play with toys even if they've got tablets. The toy industry is still massive. The Toy Story trilogy sits really high. I love Buzz & Woody, considered getting both. Buzz is just the cooler toy and the DisNey Store Buzz comes in packaging that resembles the packaging for him in the movie so I couldn't resist. It's only like $30, has the karate chop action, swoosh helmet, laser, and voice lines. Seems like a steal. As for other toys, honestly I'm not sure, but I've just found myself buying more of them recently. Like this Disney Buzz is not a thing I'd ever buy before, but I saw it, wanted it suddenly so just got it. I've also been buying some Lego which is fun. I just can see myself repeating this behaviour and ending up with more and more. The floodgates are open.
>>11638289If you say you want legos, well They recently made a lego with buzz and woody in it. Also yeah toy story is based my personal favorite toy design wise is twitch from toy story 3 but my favorite character is probably al from als toy barn and maybe zurg because i think zurgs just awesome.

>>11631223>What Toys did you play with as a kid?Lego, Dinosaurs, and a few action figures (Batman and Turtles)>did you lose some? When I moved out I gave 99% of my toys away to a Kindergarten>what adventures did they go on?I had a lego ship that went into the bathtube with me every sunday. It's wild that I did no lose a single piece over the years. My Dinos always came with me to the playground. >did you make lore for your toy world?Yes, I had a purple Batman who was the bad guy. He came on a glider and had bow legs so he always rode one of my big dinos. He was the evil mastermind behind everything happening with my toys. >When did you start losing interest in your toys, and when did you regain it?I think when I got a gameboy for christmas from my grandma, not immediately tho, to be honest I had no idea what videogames were back then and I was dissapointed in getting the GBColor + Pokemon. So I say when I was around 10. I regained it when I was 30 and I've found out about the Warhammer 40k toys.>Do you still play with your toys? be it by yourself or with your own children?Yes I like to move them around and pose them with little props. I try to change things up once a week when I dust off my shelves.>any funny little incidents involving your toys?Once I pulled the lego ship under water like it sunk and when I let go it flew out of the water and hit me in the face.
>>11638284I'm sorry to hear anon. If it's of any consolation, I was at a pretty low point too. I used to talk to my toys, even did little birthdays for them. Things do get better, trust me.
>>11638297>al from als toy barn and maybe zurg because i think zurgs just awesome.ha, Al. Zurg's cool. I didn't know about that toy story lego set, really like that little rc car. Everything else is a little meh
>>11638281Oh, and another story I rememberI used to have this titantron that worked with metal contacts. If you pressed down on the metal bar, it'd play someone's music at random. But if you had the figures, there were metal contacts in their feet and once they made contact with the metal bar, it'd play that wrestlers theme tune. It worked well, but for some reason I'd always get the same theme tunes playing and there were some I'd rarely hear when pressing down.Somehow, someway, I discovered that spilling a bit of coke (drink) onto the metal bars would not only prompt other music to play, but I would get longer versions of the same songs playing. And it wasn't like a flukey thing, it was recreatable consistently. So I was shoving coke on this thing regularly and it genuinely never stopped working. The only thing it did begin to do was sometimes go off during the night at random and play music. And a little rust of course. But other than that the thing worked fine. It was from the 90's but top quality.I've had a look and that's on ebay for around £300.tooTo think, my entire collection would have been worth over 1k and it was all just given away to a charity shop I don't even know.
>>11638420That shadow weaver figure is great. She was always a baddie>>11638472Thanks anon, i appreciate it alot honestly. Im so low right now but i keep going for my parents and my toys and my cats. To keep it /toy/ related heres a pic of a plush i just got today
>>11638473I thought about getting it myself but passed on it every time i considered it. I love toy story but i dont really need that set. The only lego i want currently is a star wars set thats street dated for jan 1 2026 and im only buying it because it included my favorite star wars character cad bane in it.
>>11638297I'm hopeful that the sets for 5 will be better than 4's. Even if we get nothing but 4+ sets and that one 18+ book nook, as long as the minifigs are cute than I'll be satisfied. At least 4's gave Rex his iconic brow ridge but replacing the human toys' head molds with generic lego people heads was peak soulless.
>>11638769Im not that excited at all for 5s merch. Even toy story 4 had absolute shit designs for new toy characters. I expect the same for 5. The only thing i liked about toy story 4 was forky and even that is a controversial opinion to some.
>>11638420Damn, Cammy is sucking Ryu cock while holding him like that?
>>11639404don't talk to me or my toys ever again.Good day sir
>>11638473Speaking of zurg i got this zurg toy for 5$ at wal-mart tonight. They also had lotso and a few others i bought
Always had toy lore. I wanted to make it into stop motion videos to preserve the memories but it will take a lot of work so I never got around to most of it.My jakks pacific goku and toybiz movie spiderman always saved the day together, battling the reoccurring small set of villains I had. Doc ock, green goblin, frieza, cell, majin buu. They also had beef with those back flipping ninja turtles from 2005 (?) Good times. Near the end of it all Vegeta died in battle and I buried him in my front yard. Haven't found him to this day.

>>11631223I thought my toys were alive like in Toy Story up until like almost college and I’m not joking. Even to this day I have an infinitesimal but non-zero% suspicion>what toys did you play with?40% Lego, 50% marvel or similar superhero or GI Joe 3.75in, some DBZ toys. Lots of Beast Wars too. Overall big variety but those were most common >adventuresSince I thought they were alive, I had a toy military training ground under my bed. I’d research the most powerful characters of Marvel, DBZ, DC, GI Joe etc. the Lego men were like infantry/henchmen and used a lot of technological equipment and the bigger toys like beast wars were the tanks and the marvel/1:18 guys were really powerful powerhouse soldiers. I had several ToyBiz Thanos with Infinity Gauntlets like 10+ years before the Avengers movies came out. I would have little Lego men and other tiny toys hidden in my friends houses and shit to spy on them. In fact I hid one in my friends’ dads super fancy whiskey box way upstairs in an attic-adjacent room in his house in like 2nd grade or something, and forgot it there and never went back to play with that friend. Up until senior year there was a house party at his house, I was shitfaced wandering his house and remembered where I put this toy, it was still fucking there, and I drank whatever that whiskey/scotch was (tasted like shit) and had a drunk “welcome home” party with my toys and this toy when I got home lol

For example, my old Optimal Optimus Prime beast war spark soul thing is now in one of my other toys I have on my bookshelf as an adult

Was never into physical toys. I moved around a lot so bringing a toy box along wasn't an option. What limited video games I had filled that void. This changed as I got older as I have a lot of stuffed animals now and plamo kits I've assembled.
>>11631223mum walked in on my shoving power ranger up my butt and then i never got action figure again so now i collect them

I was a huge star wars toy collector as a kid, starting around age 3. Around age 4 or 5, I got the POTF R5-D4 and it just went missing one day. I still have no idea where it could have possibly gone. It just vanished. I even thought a rock on the roof was it, because of its similar gray color, and even had my dad go up on the roof to check, which he ACTUALLY did, and I felt so bad for him that he did that for me when I realized it was just a rock. Never saw it again. I don't know if another kid stole it, which I guess they could have, but it was just such a weird figure to steal when I had basically every star wars figure.
>>11641143Reminds me when my essential guide to droids book got stolen in 4th grade

>>11641372I still have them and im almost thirty. Ive been into plushies more lately tho because ive been very lonely
>>11631223>What Toys did you play with as a kid?I had a divorced family and was an only child, so at mom's house it was X-Men/Spider-Man/TMNT/comics, and at dad's it was mostly Star Wars. I had Nerf at mom's, and rode bikes and stuff at dad's. The kids in my dad's neighborhood were way cooler, I was bullied a bit at my mom's.My mom's best friend had a daughter I'd play with sometimes.>did you lose some?Honestly, not really. >>11638284>>11638514Gonna add onto this because its early in the morning and im groggy and half asleep, but theres like one specific figure i always talk to the most that i carry around with me almost everywhere. I would like to talk to people over 25-30 whose rooms are often filled with toys that they started collecting back in the 2000-2010s.Most of us have some reason why we have this addiction to toys. We love having new toys and sometimes even give our favorite toys meaning or hunt for a specific toy because it means a lot to us (saw it in cartoon one time as a kid or saw it in store back then and always wanted to have it and etc.etc.).Let's talk about that, share stories and talk abour our reasons and mamories. Will post my story in first post.
>>11646192lol. i posted this in lego thread...i swear i thought im creating a new thread...
I've been going on adventures with my toys, mostly sonic, mario, batman, power rangers, etc since I was like 8. I'm a 36 year old professional now, married with a newborn, and I still take my toys on business trips etc when just me and have massive battles in the hotel rooms etc. Bought a house recently and went to our apartment the final night myself to "clean" up some final things and had a massive sonic battle where he went super for the first time since playing with sonic toys since like 8, while in battle against metal sonic while the other toys evacuated to our new home/planet. (ala goku/frieza arc). Not to say that I'm sitting around constantly playing with toys, probably a few times a year, but I've always bought them openly in all my past relationships with girls as well when shopping around etc if I see something cool, never cared. Already started building up a toy collection for my son though he's under a year old still so most of what he's gonna get for Christmas will stay boxed for a few years
