Asking here just because the local legomaniacs might know. I've ordered some Bionicle (and a Throwbot I think) for my brother for Christmas. They are used, but have the canisters, and I plan on "repacking" them just to give him the joy of getting to open them "for the first time" (or close enough, though he will be awares of their used state. I'm not rich enough for that.)

So my question is: Is there somewhere I can go to find a comprehensive list and images of everything they were packed with?

Bonus points if you guys know where to find like some small bags I can put the parts in that aren't, ya know, like sandwich bags. Ones that feel like the lego bags, and that I could possible seal shut with either heat or glue.
>>
>>11631565
Seal wrap, or something
>>
>>11631565
For Bionicle sets, I'm like 98% sure that the pieces were just loose in the canister, no bags. And the instructions were just curled along the inner wall inside.
I remember The Metru Nui the best, and I'm fairly sure that was all that was inside.
I got curious myself while typing this out and I found a video covering the Toa Nuva:
https://youtu.be/rGolSD0i7rM?t=52
Pretty much what I remembered minus the mini catalog.

Lego doesn't have a patent for bricks so all companies can do it. Lego only has patent for their minifigure design. That's it. They can't sue shit on their molds.

>>

>>
>>11632029
lego cut back on a lot of shit in 2004 during their bankruptcy scare

>>
>>11632016
lego star wars was a genuinely good theme for lego from 1999 - 2004, it looked and fit in with the rest of lego
2005 - 2008 is less good but still pretty decent, although it's when fleshies were introduced (late 2004 technically but 2005 was the first full year)
after that we got cw sets for a long time and clone autism became a thing, before that clones usually were either one per set or had 2-4 in a big sets
iirc the cheapest set with a clone before 2007 was the scout walker from 2005, and that had an obscure clone type that has only ever been in that one set

There is a curse when it comes to lego youtubers

TheBrickshow = banned for 1 leak while other channels could continue to spread the leaks

TheBrickQueen = destroyed by MandR and never recovered

Just2good = a likable nerdy guy with a girlfriend turned into a degenerate transgender furry

TieTheLegoGuy = vanished, rumored to be dead

JangBricks = never the same after the famous road accident, went crazy over time, ditched his lifework (jangcity) and is hating lego more and more every day, while praising off-brands like the second coming of christ.

Lego Ideas is what killed Lego (for the casual fan):

--all the gazillion-piece entries that consistently get 10,000 votes
--Lego thinks it's a joke, due to "beautiful model" of course would get lots of votes, but nobody would buy a set that big, would they?
--what the heck, Lego tries a gazillion-piece, beautiful model. (LoTR Elf village thing)
--it sells like crazy??????
--screw it, looks like the people really DO WANT gazillion-piece, multi-hundred dollar sets
--Lego makes more $400+ sets, sells well enough, repeat...

thanks, Lego Ideas site!!!

it was the Crazy Rich People who bought the $400+ sets

even poor Lego collectors, over time, will amass enough bricks to build something large and impressive, those people can't buy the $400+ sets

it's hard to tell, just from the MOC, if it was made by a rich show-off, or a poor person who struggled and prevailed

Why no Demogorgon? Why is LEGO doing this? It’s the same reason I didn’t buy the Krusty Burger set, why not include the entire Simpsons family in it? I was in my “dark age” when the Simpsons theme came and went, and I didn’t have the money. I was like 12 then.

As for Stranger Things, I didn’t like it when the Byers’ home released because I had never watched the show until this month, when my girlfriend said we should try it—and we both loved it. So I don’t have a Demogorgon! Why not include it in the set? And no Hopper? No Joyce either?

Will they make more playsets, or is this the only one we’ll ever get? Just2Good said we won’t get another Simpsons set because Krusty Burger sold poorly… so what about Stranger Things then?

THIS is the maddening thing about Lego
(if this is true)

Lego makes a $200 set that shelf warms, and concludes that people don't want The Simpsons sets.
------people would have bought it, if it was NOT TWO FREAKING HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!

I was also in a The Lego Store and lol'd at the child (10-ish?) who sheepishly asked his mom "Why is The Simpsons set for grown ups?" like, the kid wanted a The Simpsons set. true story bro

D'oh!

I think LEGO teaches you life lessons.
I made a few mistakes while building the G500, and I fixed them.
The process required judgment and decisiveness.
Not only that, but it also required skills like managing parts, controlling assembly speed, concentration, disassembly, and accuracy.

I couldn't accept the fact that I had made a mistake. So I tried to rebuild it from scratch, (did it once on yamaha)
but I felt that was foolish. I had already fixed the problem somehow, and it wasn't a major issue. It wouldn't be easy, but I decided to just move on.

I wondered:Why do humans ultimately make mistakes?

It has a probe droids hidden in the middle section with a trapdoor they come out of on the bottom. The strange part is that the hump doesn't even need to be there to accommodate them, and you can easily modify the set without any additional pieces to remove the hump and make it much smoother looking without sacrificing any functionality.

it's not worth that much morons, anyone can set a ridculous price on ebay or whatever, maybe click on "sold listings" to see what they actually sell for.

a new one is still only $100, most used go for around $40. I would actually know because I had like 4 of these things and I sold them all a few years ago for about $40 each at the time, the price hasn't even changed at all in years.

it's been that price on amazon quite a few times too including this year. >>
>>11633442
I didn't know if it was, I guess it is.

Still, the set clearly never sold well, they've had to heavily discount it just to move them in the past. Just wait for a sale, it will likely be discounted because no one is going to be buying those at $600 a pop.

Slight correct, Saak'ak is the ship that is where Obi-wan and Qui-Gon Jinn land at star of Episode 1. Vuutun Palaa is the droid command ship. Yet alot of the staff of Saak'ak moved to Vuutun Palaa after landing on Naboo (why?) And Vuutun appears slight bigger and obviously had more shit on it like towers and satellites

Anyone have an older relative who had a stroke? My dad is 70 and just had one, he's recovering now but he can't work anymore or ever again. Some cognitive deficits but mostly okay in terms of hand-eye coordination, seems super bored since he was previously a heavy smoker and alcoholic but kicked both habits after being in the hospital for two straight months.

Would Lego work for him as something to do? Was thinking Speed Champions, he used to do model kits as a kid and the Ford Mustang is on sale.
>>
>>11633574
Speed Champions is totally for the old-school "model builder" especially with all the stickers (people complain SO MANY FREAKING STICKERS like Lego is cheap bastards, but it really does make them more model-like)

the build process can get very complicated, if you need to be warned about that.

I just got back from Walmart they have 3 Speed Champion sets on amazing Black Friday deal. the sticker on the cardboard said $45 but the giant sign above the pallet said $25, and they all rang up at $25!
>>
>>11633584
Yeah, you just need to watch the age rating, right? The Ford Mustang said 8+ which seemed okay to me, there was a Red Bull one that was 18+ even with less pieces which I assume might be frustrating for him.

Lego did one giant $360 D&D set
bonus minifig series that should have come with the $360 set. Lego set the precedent with giant 30-minifig Marvel towers at $300, but for some reason, D&D minifigs were sold separately.

this was, oddly, kind of a cool move(?) the "filthy rich" people didn't care they had to spend $60 extra, and the poor people got to get a couple minifigs, as much as they could afford.

I wonder if the factory workers can just make a bunch of custom color pieces, for their own MOC characters.

there's several hair pieces that could match characters but will never get the right colors. here the description even mentions who it's "for"

Lego used to sneak these into real sets. Like this clear-blue hair piece might be some kind of underwater Ninjago character, but the set designer really wanted it for an Elden Ring character

Lego should put "sort your damn part" in instruction again. Again, Organizing parts helped shorten build time and prevent missing pieces and lower mistakes. also It's fundamental to disassemble and rebuild.

it was dragging on and on I couldn't finish it

Absolutely baffling to see, and this set was originally from 1997.
Pretty sure it's the same with the horns as well.

I know nothing about Elden Ring, at all.

googling the character...
looks close enough?
I don't know if you'll need some kind of funky extra-arm thing though.
maybe they re-colored some Stitch arms to go with that hat

I'm not a fan of that blueish grey, on the window for example.
Also not a fan of how the back of the window "flows" into the rest of the ship, I can't really explain it but it just looks off to me.

Maybe it is the most accurate one but still.
>>
>>11635552

>>11634879
The wings on this look extremely stubby. Is it just the angle or are they actually just super short and thick?
>>
>>11634933
Make the sprocket and the idler higher than the roadwheels. Replace some of those olive 1x1s with lbg to give it an urban camo feel. But honestly if you're not going for a bmp replica then just do what feels right desu.

>>
>>11635648
Lego is usually very generous with replacement parts as long as you provide proof of purchase and don't request anything ridiculous like baseplates, minifigures, cloth pieces, etc. If worst comes to worst that part is available on PAB as well for $0.13 USD each, not sure if they have the color you need or not though.

You know what's fucked up? AFOLs are hoarding and scalping 40 tooth gears thst arent shitty new blue grey now so I'm having a lot of trouble making throwbot mocs and completing the old toys. I hate the lego community so fucking much you have no idea.

Weirdly the only blue gear was released in a fucking dolphin ultra rare clock. And the red throwbot body is 50 fucking dollars because it was in a the bionicle rahi jar. I hope those fuckers sit on that jar and it breaks. Maybe they did and that's why it 50 fucking dollars.

How about starting threads for each Lego franchise like Ninjago, Star Wars and City instead of a general, that way they would take longer to reach bump and image limit and there won't be as many (of each topic). Maybe one for classic Lego, too.
