Before the dark times the army men general could last half the year, no posts for days at a time but maximum comfy. I will grant that the Colour Wars was largely born out of a desire to still fill out the thread within its much-reduced lifetime, though if the 14 day cutoff were rescinded it would certainly continue without issue, perhaps requiring four or five threads a year instead of two heh.

I keep seeing crap cowboys and Indians on Ali - with $18-$20 shipping.
I can't say I'm not tempted though.
>>
>>11634243
Those specific soldiers are included in several army men sets on AliExpress, box sets in small, mid and large size with an element of chance as to what you'll get in terms of colours of accessories, vehicle assortment and soldier poses.

The set as a whole goes back a ways, most of the poses are modern with a couple exceptions that appear more fitting to a WW2 battlefield. This new edition of the set has added a couple additional poses, lifted directly from The Corps Elite set (minigunner and bazookaman).

Yeah when I bought one I wasn't terribly impressed with the figures themselves, but man I had to gush some over the nostalgic accessories. The main issue with the figures is they've modified the molds to put blunted ends on all the otherwise sharp points, which is especially onerous with the cowboys' revolvers.

There is (or was a couple years ago anyway) a store selling better quality sets of the figures on their own in four different colours.

Decent old school cowboys and indians sets aren't too common these days, it has its flaws and of course the shipping but is a fun set.

I saw some the other day but didn't have a real chance to look.
I was out with my girlfriend and really wanted to get a pack of Dinos I also saw but she vetoed them as it has another of these trolling Raptors I own.
- But I did get a Power of the Force Sandperson *she* found in the next store we went in. - so that was okay.
I got my Germans. it's beginning to look a lot like Hell outside. (of the frozen sort.) and I had a drugged migraine all day but took some test shots of a couple of guys

Timmee has a set on Amazon that should be good quality, decent price too. There's some other sets there but I couldn't speak to how good they are quality-wise, been mostly collecting soldiers.

Got another of these sets, smaller with only three armies but I had faint hopes that there could be some soldiers from a set of Japanese I've only been able to get as part of a larger playset, and only as the separate base style.

Alas, it seems the listing photo lied and the troop contents are entirely of the 8th Route Army soldiers. The set had half the number of tanks, jeeps and artillery as the larger set and none of the rocket trucks, but the same amount of colourful jets (sadly one came with a broken nose and the missing bit wasn't in the bag).

The rest of the accessories were also fewer in number, save for the trio of sandbag walls which were in equal number to the other set. For some reason there were several more of those generic action figure weapons as well.

In keeping with these sets' signature move there was a single giant included with the green, grey and olive tan armies of Chinese fanatics. Think this will be it for these sets, with 3 battalions and 2 companies worth in five colours I've ample supplies of cannon fodder to throw into the Colour Wars.

Cracks me up that the set designer saw fit to equip two of the poses with obvious German Schmeisser submachine guns; British Lee Enfields would've been a better choice, though realistically they're most likely all packing AK variants and (in more recent times) US kit.

Probably the funniest was when the rocket decided to launch backwards, not sure where that came from as I'd used the same prompts with minor tweaks. Yeah for a couple of them it added more soldiers from off-screen, a bizarre blend of animated army men but with coloured weapons.

All this takes me back to reading the old Indian in the Cupboard books (and the movie), particularly that one incident where a gang of skinheads breaks into the house so the kid brings a pile of soldiers to life and they successfully fight them off.

Speaking of Amazon and censorship, this one set I got a while back definitely fell victim to it. The side of the box had a note explaining a plain red flag replaced the Confederate one, because someone's feefees might be hurt or something.

Seems the toy company had the last laugh, as one of the Confederate poses is a flag-bearer. Must say the set in general had other issues, from ridiculous amounts of inaccurate artillery to terribly random pose distribution but that proud Rebel thumbing his nose at political correctness was worth it.
