I was also alone on Thanksgiving but at least I have some furry friends and this Lionel Hudson to be thankful for.

I swear model trains are biggest poorfag filter hobby there is.
Guess I'll look into Z scale.

elevate the track?

That would not really solve the issue of track footprint, or lack of square-meterage though would it ? Or is there something I'm not seeing ?
I'd build a wall-mounted track but the landlord says "no hole in wall" .
I 'unno if it's worth looking into smaller scales since there aren't that many companies making Z and both that and N don't really cover french and italian rails which I like more.
Guess I can just buy rolling stock and keep it warm and cozy until I can get a place that has non-shitty weirdly-shaped rooms.

Man, I want this stupid babby's first train set, even though I have no need for it (beside setting it up under my parent's Christmas tree), and am actively in the process of downsizing and throwing shit out, and saving money. I just really like how it's a proper 00 gauge set, but heavy duty, even if it does run on batteries and not powered track.

Pricey, but I think that the product in the images seem to be good.

Get the steam express one for a tenner more. You get a controller and more track

Tying it to the older play trains was a mistake. They should've screwed the magnets into NEM pockets so that you could run it with any other rolling stock.

I have a Lionel Polar Express set i put up for Christmas, but one of the runner tire rings os seemingly loose and gets caught in the moving mechanism (forgive my lack of knowledge of this part). Is there a place to get a replacement?

It's a traction tire that's come loose.
Go to your local hobby shop, they can easily replace it. It's a piece of rubber that helps grip the track.

To be honest unless you are running on a grade you don't even need it. You can just cut it off with scissors. It's a starter Polar Express set, should be fine. Here's my cat with the scale dimension size Polar Express.
