I was also alone on Thanksgiving but at least I have some furry friends and this Lionel Hudson to be thankful for.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJVltB_Lfi0
>finally able to afford some trains>not enough room to lay down some trackI swear model trains are biggest poorfag filter hobby there is.Guess I'll look into Z scale.
>>11639832elevate the track?
>>11640273That would not really solve the issue of track footprint, or lack of square-meterage though would it ? Or is there something I'm not seeing ?I'd build a wall-mounted track but the landlord says "no hole in wall" .I 'unno if it's worth looking into smaller scales since there aren't that many companies making Z and both that and N don't really cover french and italian rails which I like more.Guess I can just buy rolling stock and keep it warm and cozy until I can get a place that has non-shitty weirdly-shaped rooms.
Man, I want this stupid babby's first train set, even though I have no need for it (beside setting it up under my parent's Christmas tree), and am actively in the process of downsizing and throwing shit out, and saving money. I just really like how it's a proper 00 gauge set, but heavy duty, even if it does run on batteries and not powered track.
>>11640693>French>Zhttps://azar-models.com/gb/Pricey, but I think that the product in the images seem to be good.
>>11641877This is making me hornby
>>11641877Get the steam express one for a tenner more. You get a controller and more track
>>11641877Tying it to the older play trains was a mistake. They should've screwed the magnets into NEM pockets so that you could run it with any other rolling stock.
I have a Lionel Polar Express set i put up for Christmas, but one of the runner tire rings os seemingly loose and gets caught in the moving mechanism (forgive my lack of knowledge of this part). Is there a place to get a replacement?
>>11642223It's a traction tire that's come loose.Go to your local hobby shop, they can easily replace it. It's a piece of rubber that helps grip the track. To be honest unless you are running on a grade you don't even need it. You can just cut it off with scissors. It's a starter Polar Express set, should be fine. Here's my cat with the scale dimension size Polar Express.
>>11642044Yeah that one is better in pretty much every way, but I really hate the "DANGER" "TNT" etc shit, like if it was just generic freight or plain it would be fine. Reckon I could get it off with nail polish remover?>>11642108I agree, I don't particularly like the magnets/connecting solution they've decided on.
>>11642223Is it one of those cheap shitty plastic ones? I saw them at Costco last year. I think they do a Harry Potter one aswell.
>>11642631Thanks.>>11643839The packaging is different as it has see-through portions. We've had it for a while but never set it up. My wife must have bought it off a coworker as it hadn't been used in years to the point where the remote control had some battery acid corrosion which took me a good hour to clean up and scrape as much as I could.
>>11643858>>11643839I found a pic of it as the box is in storage atm.
>>11643859Yeah that's just the cheap one.Can you post a close up on the loose ring? If you can't pop it back into position you can probably just cut it off, it's really not hauling much weight.
>>11643838I'm sure you could remove it, i was going to get one and repaint but i have a house full of 0-4-0's
>>11638543>>11642631That cat looks cautious.
>>11639832U scale is expensive because you're paying for the miniaturization. When buying new n scale is cheapest, when buying used its ho scale. Forget about dcc and buy online within your own country to avoid getting raped by import fees. If you want to run trains on a table forget about ho, you won't run anything beyond 0-4-0s on any small elevated surface.
Ive become really interested in older HO trains, particularly 3 rail AC like Hornby Dublo and Marklin. I recently got a secondhand sd70 by kato and just was so bored by it. It’s plastic shit. Yesterday I went to an antique store and found a marklin crocodile from around the 50s, and it just felt so much better. Beautiful diecast shell with minimal paint flaking. It was $80 and honestly I might go back and get it. Any other bros into antique trains and/or 3 rail HO?
>>11652013Guy running the oddity store next to my grocery place has a bunch of old Jouef tracks and rolling stocks but his window prices are a bit steep. I might go check it into more detail someday but if it's in line with his other prices then it's not going to be worth it. He has a Grunding turntable in the window that's just twice its normal asking price and that's with a cartridge and needle that might need immediate replacements so I'm not holding my breath.
