This is what $60 gets you now in the domestic toy market. How do you feel about this?
at least it'll only be $50 at walmart
>>11648331>This is what $60 gets you now from McFarlaneFTFY. Amazing how Todd started out giving some of the best bang for your buck at $20 once he switched from statues to figures, only to become one of the most overpriced domestic companies in the game, complete with less paint and artificial scarcity.
>>11648353Here's what $58 gets you from Hasbro.
>>11648353And a ton of reuse not to mention the articulation sucks. Cmon over to dc gen if you want to hear more.
>>11648371that's actually insane when Todd owns spawn and there's no license fee.
>>11648331I don’t by nigger action figures burnt or not
>>11648376At this point I'm just waiting for a Chinese company to release a not Spawn, it will be a huge improvement.
>>11648353>>11648376They actually removed some accessories from the early tease as well
>>11648555Guaranteed they will release another one as a variant or something with the missing two heads and the optional gauntlet instead of the wood plank or whatever.
>>11648590>making the og spawn a niggerWhy btw? I never touched anything Spawn-related precisely because of that.Of course it was 90's and McFarty probably thought it will be so brave and innovative, revolutionary even. But you just can't make successful franshse with black dude as main lead.
>>11648596Most of his characters likenesses and names are based on people he knew. IT got him in a lot of trouble later on.
>>11648371>no cardPass.
>>11648555Some of those accessories like the big dumb boot aren't even accurate for that look anyway. He didn't even have some of that stuff until the all black suit.>>11648590>>11648596McFarlane is a huge liberal, although Spawn/Al's is practically a non-factor in most of the series. Its more McFarlane's soapbox to rattle the cages against the government, and kind of a commentary about the people who get "lost in the cracks" of society. Besides, half the time he treats Al like a hood thug anyway, since he was an assassin/mercenary who gunned down civilians, and there was that one time he gut-punched his pregnant wife, killing their unborn child. What's more, there was a stretch of about 70 issues where Spawn "died" and Al got replaced with a white guy, and it was considered the worst, most boring run of the entire series.>>11648608That had nothing to do with it. It was characters that he co-created (like Angela, Medieval Spawn, Cogliostro, etc) with other creators that got him into trouble.
>>11648711>That had nothing to do with it.?https://bleedingcool.com/comics/recent-updates/todd-mcfarlane-settles-with-al-simmons-dc-try-to-get-their-costs-from-toberoff/Al Simmons used to be an assistant for McFarlane. He also wore the Spawn costume at times.https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/twist-wins-hefty-lawsuit-against-comic-book-artist-1.253314McFarlane paid waaaaay more money to this hockey player than he did Gaiman. $25 million vs $2 million (how much McFarlane actually paid was probably way less though).there's other characters and likenesses based on real life people in the Spawn comics, but most of those people are just flattered or not embarassed enough to sue.
>>11648371Better deal
>>11648747but still a bad deal
>>11648747>extra hands to fill the blister makes a better deal
>>11648331Id be fine with it if Todd actually knew how to make an action figure. How is he STILL using pins? Dame.
>>11648331Look at what the Japanese are charging for equally-sized toys. Basically collectors fucked the market. That's why prices kept going up even years before tariffs. Now that it's out that adult collectors buy more toys than kids do, toy-makers are feeling no guilt at all with charging adult collector prices.
