Theyre still high as fuck charging 100 dollary doos for this. Im heavily debating not getting negro suit spider man to pickup hoodrat getter instead.
>>
>>11651242
Not Revoltech but if the AY Getters feel too pricey the MODEROID kits also went up for preorder. They're based on the T.O.P! Collection sculpt where AY is of course Yamaguchi's rendition so they look very different.

I didn't notice the shoulder pivot cuts right through the gold rivet things (where the axes magically spits out from). I wish he made it so the cut went along the gold-red separation so the whole gold rivet moved. Also I'm a little worried the gold paint might scrape off the tops from hitting the edges.
>>
>>11651245
I have several moderoids and im honestly unimpressed with them and overpriced for the scale (like 6k+ yen for small scale hgish kit) . But than again >>11651251 that pylon split is distracting enough for me to just get the moderoid like you suggested.
>>
>>11651259
Model kits other than Gunpla aren't cheap really, even for Bandai when they do IP they don't own. And maybe Takara's new Zoids kits which are in the same boat as Gundam for Bandai. Doesn't help Moderoid are mostly the nichest of niche IP lol. I like them more than Kotobukiya but the quality can be all over. I never know if a joint is too tight it'll break or too loose until it's assembled and then it's annoying to fix.

I'm giving more attention to Chinese kits lately , I'm really liking the SHEIK MAINLAND stuff.
>>
>>11651259
I love my moderoid shin getter, there doesn't really seem to be a better sculpt in that scale.
>>
>>11651261
Yeah I do agree that it is a blessing for them to cover niche IPs.
>>I'm giving more attention to Chinese kits lately
Ive been building chink kits for a few years now and theyre honestly still much better value than moderoids. Mind you it helps partially because they dont have to pay licensing for these IP but at the same time, they fucking give you a ton to work with.
>>11651263
I only have the black shin getter kit and I ddo have to agree with that. Id also have to put the black selena in that category.
>>
>>11651270
Yeah but even with original stuff the big Japanese companies don't make them that cheap. 30MM is okay but 30MS and 30MF are relatively expensive for what they are, 30MF is mostly the same core body over and over. Of course these can't be as popular as gundams but then they're mostly resued molds compared to mostly one-offs.

Then there's Hexa Gear....
>>
Apparently the Smasher was delayed to next month
>>
>>11651233
looks good but i'm gonna wait until i get the 2 mazingers in hand; there seems to be a lot of negative reviews about the one that just came out
>>
>>11651309
Yeah I called that when they were saying "December Arrival" and then didn't take preorder payments. Honestly I'm fine with it, I have enough money pouring out of my wallet this season.
>>
>>11651328
Lucky and wealthy anon, for it was because I still don't see any reviews on Bilibili, the Chinese are the first ones to get that stuff.
>>
>>11651315
Oh such as? I wonder about how many people were not aware of the different nature of the figure compared to 99.99% of Revoltechs/AY and how the unfamiliarity might affect first impression.

Then there's also a possibility kaiyodo isn't ready to do full ABS action figures at a decent quality.
>>
>turns out the cross on Great Mazinger's chest was for it to bend, and it has a proper boomerang
FUCK, are there good stores to get Revoltechs in Canada, or should I just order from Japan?
I wanted Great more but I ended up passing on both of them, because it feels like they should be a set.

>>
>>11651963
Should I then just wait for the second run for Z and Great and hope the QC issues get fixed, and hope that second runs happen to begin with
>>
>>11651952
There's no good way to tell now since they do so many simultaneously with some randomly going on PO right away with no previous reveals (like Marvel). But since Clare already had at least a Paint Master done already she might be closer than the others. But these other could be further along, they just didn't use them for a display for what ever reason.

Generally the TBA list order which is the announcement order is usually the release order. So think a few releases per month and calculate from there.

But additions to already released IP are likely to come out sooner like OPM, Dannadan and NG.
>>
>>11651279
30ms is DIRT cheap. In Japan.

Western shops charge the typical bs import prices for them.
>>
>>11652001
I'm talking their original pricing. Sisters are the most expensive among the 30 Minutes series ignoring that new one doing actual IPs. And I said relative, as in compared to what Bandai regularly do, and how a lot of them are done with shared parts.

>>
>>11651963
>>11652906
Sounds to me that Kaiyodo is still not ready for this type of action figure. That and/or since Mazinger Z is so popular the order was too large they couldn't afford to reject minor defects. The delay was probably for underestimating the order total.

Honestly I don't see much benefit to making the whole figure with ABS plastic. Especially for the rounder, simple designs of super robots. Optimus felt necessary but not that much here. Yamaguchi could've done mostly the same articulation with PVC parts connected by GEO joints and look almost identical. Maybe the head needs to be ABS for the sharpness, and the back of the knees may need to have the joints exposed if double joints are used. But for the elbows he did cover up single joints back in the old Revoltech days it's not a problem. I want Yamaguchi to keep making robot figures and not have the choice of materials get in the way of that.
>>

To each their own, preferences, tastes vary and all that, but I really don't get this one. So far, they have been some Metal Gear like sci-fi tactical cybersoldiers, fighting insectoids, all dark in tone, and then this one is a red American football player with a baseball bat... utterly bizarre.

I'm pretty convinced the SF6 Revos all got delayed mainly due to unforeseen problems with the digital face printing tech. And I can imagine the MGSD Revos will be using digital face printing as well, so there might be a delay to make sure the same problem won't happen again. Or it's just normal, they wanted to show something around game time but have no intention for PO to be close. Look how much they got in the pipeline.

Solid year of Revoltech/AY. Hope to see more YGO in 2026.
>>
>>11657609
I just wish the dip in quality for Revoltech vs AY wasn't so noticeable. Like I think it's a matter of bad assignment. Sugimoto does Takeya tear crazy creature works, Ootsu is a mechanical guy (he did Assemble Borgs) so all these anime characters shouldn't even be given to them.

>>11657611
LOL I was hoping not because of above reason. They don't even try to scale the duelists if they're going to keep half-assing them I rather have the sculptors do what they're good at. Getting different sculptors involved is apparently not possible.
>>
>>11657618
I'm in it for the monsters, so I don't really mind the scaling between Duelists, but I get it. If they at least scale with their monsters (which is technically arbitrary) that's better than nothing. I also agree that there's definitely lower quality for Revoltech vs AY, but they're still not bad. Maybe for the cost they aren't that great, but still very decent figures.

some gripes:
1) her elbows can't bend that far, only about this much
2) because of her design and engineering, her waist sits pretty low. this causes any big movement at her waist to give her love handles when turning or big gaps when pivoting
3) her feet aren't the most stable so one-legged poses take a while, but they're possible. either that or i suck

They haven't made the feet with free standing in mind for a long while, they want you to use the stands. They sculpt the feet appropriately to the character design so barefoot are rounded, have an arch, etc. Feet for standing and ignores correct sculpting are something you see on ML for example, have that raised edges on the bottom.
>>
>>11658518
That's unfortunate. The belts can't move in a way to hide it? AY recently have been good at having extra pieces for the gaps there.

I'm glad she has the old shoulder joint arrangement I don't like the less poseable method the girls have been subjected to lately.

Not sure who made this (don't recognize the signature) but such strange grouping. He got some of Dec delays but missed one. Then the reissues are clearly included but no Agent Venom? No X-Force DP too. But 2 for Arkham Knight and his conversion is an odd choice.

Tolmekian soldier and bird reissues are not included too so maybe straight reissues didn't count. Harley had an extra face I assume.

These guys pose like revos without the gaps, crazy considering how bulky they are.

Also, noticed that they apparently have plugs for the holes in the shoulder armor if you don't want to use the attachable football parts.

>pose like revos without the gaps
It helps a lot when you also make up the design of the figure. The big shoulder armors do most of the work since that's really the only noticeable gappy spots on AY now. This also go back a generation not having butterfly joints that breaks up the chest sculpt..

The new addition of elbow covers are interesting though. Older Revoltechs did that sometimes I wonder if we might see it more on AY now. AY loves not having visible joints for the legs but not the arms strangely enough.

I think her neutral face is quite cute, too. I guess this is the start of a photo review.

When this (finally) arrived from amiami, holy hell where the thigh swivels tight. I had to soak in hot water and pop them out just to reset them, but that was the worst of unboxing. It’s also the first time I’ve ever encountered that particular issue with a Revoltech figure.

Initial thoughts: the skirt is imperfect and while I like the interchangeable halves in principle, the execution feels flimsy. However, I will admit that it holds together well when you finally hit a pose, so it falling apart while moving things around isn’t terrible. I’d like some sort of alternative, though. Her proportions are very exaggerated and I think that’s a combination of the game art and some sculpting stylization, and the only place where it falters is in the faces. Obviously, I had to compare her to Harley, who has the gold standard face for Amazing products. I guess I can understand these not-having movable eyes, but on the other hand, we got Revo minis with ball joint eye sockets. The hand options are very expressive, as are the expressions.

What, it's unbearable. They split off anytime you move anything. I decided to glue them together the stupid thing is it still works because you can pop off the torso ball joint and slide on the skirts more easily. You can't mix and match the two halves but I don't see much reason to.

Same goes for Kirishima but what's wrong with Kaiyodo? Just have the chest ball peg be detachable, mushroom peg into the chest. I don't like frequent detaching of ball sockets so I get they design around it but these loose surface pieces exchanging needs to stop.

Yeah, I believe that a better solution could have been found (agree on the interchangeability thing), and this could have been a decent opportunity to integrate soft goods like the male SF characters have. But, I mostly get Chun’s legs where they need to go and then put the skirt pieces back on.

Getting this pose was a bit of a pain but there’s decent balance to be found in the kit, it helps that the center of gravity is pretty obvious.

I think it’s a result of Capcom relentlessly wringing the RE Engine to death and attempting to make the SF cast more “diverse,” at least from a build/face perspective. When you add realism to the mix, the end result is bound to be a bit muddled. I like Chun’s in-game face and this is an… interesting take on it, but I think she’s just a character cursed to never have a decent head sculpt.

I think 52Toys’ version gets closest to the in-game model, but the alternate faces she comes with are horrifying.

Anyway, maybe it’s copium or maybe I’m weird, but I do come away from this feeling more positive than negative. I love the hand sculpts and I think they nailed the absurdity of her thighs, and despite the skirt pieces being less than perfect, they still allow for some nice poses. While I’m hoping that my next Revo will be a bit more straightforward (NG3 Ryu) and that they don’t really screw up SF6 Ryu. I am almost tempted to try to nab a Juri just so I can use this extra face, but I don’t think I can justify the price.

40ish? thats a pretty good price for the base release. Id say go for it so stardust has his duelist. despite my gripes with the articulation he has a tiny white synchro monster card that you can put in his hand or on the duel disk and the disk itself has a separate strap piece so you can put it on other figures. I'll give revo props for keeping that gimmick going with their duelist figures.

>technology overall improved
The technology hasn't improved since the 00s when LEGO first started using it.

All it is is a sticker that's placed over the area, heated and pressed.

How good or bad it looks is entirely up to the designer who created the design. If their art style is shit, it'll look like shit. It's entirely a stylistic choice, for better or worse.

Bandai when they first started used it as a replacement for paint apps. So it can look pretty shit since the print is pretty low res. This is why companies like DC Direct and Hasbro used the print as a supplement to actual paint apps.
>>
>>11659883
That’s a fair point. The other option could be a small joint like what was used for scarves/long fabric on figures like Vash or Psylocke, but that would have also been a bit odd.

It's just Figma dropping the ball. Hasbro's print deco work is better and more consistent and has been for years, even at 1:18 scale. Mafex isn't the best at it, but they're still better with it than Figma. Pretty much every company uses it these days with more success. Even Mattel.

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to this.

This is the lowest they can bend/get respectively. Revo Chun has the benefit of a skirt that can be put out of the way, enabling her to do the block pose, and a bit more twist/flex to her calves and ankles so that she can sit in poses. Though she’s heel-up in this picture I wanted to show an example of the knee bend. Honestly, you’ll probably be able to get pretty similar poses out of both.

The only significant difference between the box art and the games is the headband, and forearm colour, both of which I don't mind either way.
But the changes they've made get it so wrong. Why is there ragged wrapped cloth everywhere. Why is his shawl all torn up. Why doesn't the shoulder cloth sit tight. What's the point of making a retro figure but modernizing the design.
Also they posted the box art version themselves while advertising it.

This has always been the course for Yamaguchi, especially for AY. Unless the source media HAS A SINGULAR HIGH DEF RENDITION then Yamaguchi gets creative. Try go looking for the Batman Beyond he made. You can't. Even the Nagai Go Super Robots have original treatments since over the years they had so many versions. The Getters less so since they specified the OVA.

Old games before graphics were good enough to sculpt a figure out of it? Had a bunch of art made by numerous people? Yeah Yamaguchi will not pick a specific one just like the DC and Marvel AY.

Hell even when game specific and new Catwoman looks nothing like her model. I don't get why you're surprised by now.

I don't really care about this figure but I think most of your complaints are linked to the fact that the pose in this picture is absolutely horrible. Kayodo tends to be better at showing off their products, but it's pretty clear to me that this pose in particular was botched beyond saving. The upper torso is leaning forwards as is the neck, his left elbow joint is completely broken, the knees shouldn't be bent at all. It truly is the worst sollicitation picture I've ever seen on a Kayodo product.
