I haven’t really checked in in awhile. Was there ever anything released that’s pretty close to whatever SHF Shredder would have been, or best Shredder figure to pair with the SHF Turtles?

Given how the figures are "almost" the price of NECA's offerings, should I try McFarlane's figures?

Mechagodzilla Shredder.

So Wave 2 of the toys will probably be JJ Don, Shredder...it'd be nice if we got Bebop Gigan and Rocksteady Destroyah, if they're willing to do four figures this time.

Funny you should mention that, Karai's half of the shelf is actually vaguely magic based (recropped pic related). The "foot elite" GI Joe figure with alt oni mask was actually bought because he was in a two pack with a Kitsune masked ninja woman.

At least as the Master License holder. End of an era for sure. Not necessarily a good one, but end of one nonetheless. It's really their own fault for never evolving as a toymaker. With how the license has been split in a 100 different ways and to different manufacturers, you'd think there wouldn't be that much of an issue continuing with things as they currently are.
>>
>>11656815
This is all Rise's fault
>>
Jaxx toys? Or hasbro?
>>
>>11656873
Jakks would be bad because their model doesn't work for somethinf like tmnt.

Hasbro wouldn't take it because Disney is already raping them.

Mattel might? They did a good job on the xMOTU figs...

Todd will probably try to jump in cause he has nothing else. But the Page Punchers are awful, I don't see any improvement there.

NECA is happy where they're at, so outside of renegotiating for more freedoms on the license, I don't see them moving much.

Super7...is dead. They may attempt a hail Mary to restart the vintage stuff since 2k3 bombed, but I don't know if they even can.

>Hasbro wouldn't take it because Disney is already raping them.

The most ideal place for the brand. We'd probably still get new "vintage" figures, but also a kids line and a 1/12 collectors line.

>Mattel might? They did a good job on the xMOTU figs...

They would do a really good job. We might even get a line in MOTU Origins scale.

>Todd will probably try to jump in cause he has nothing else. But the Page Punchers are awful, I don't see any improvement there.

Todd's already trying very hard for this, and I could see him getting it. His toys are such a mixed bag. He released too much shit nobody wanted in DC Multiverse, and waited until he lost the license to make anything fans had wanted.

>NECA is happy where they're at, so outside of renegotiating for more freedoms on the license, I don't see them moving much.

I can't see them expanding into the kids market.

>Super7...is dead. They may attempt a hail Mary to restart the vintage stuff since 2k3 bombed, but I don't know if they even can.

I'd like this to revive Ultimates and maybe see them show up at retail.

>>
>>11657109
Both. Playmates is lazy and bitter, Viacom wants the IP to stay relevant and juice kids for money.
>>
>>11657109
Fault for the license not being renewed?
I'd 100% blame Playmates. I bet the Nickelodeon execs got tired of listening to them bitch about every company "violating" the master license agreement. They did it for years with both NECA and Super7, and I bet the reason the Joytoy and Jinglihung Turtles got pulled from BBTS was because Playmates bitched about them.
>>
>>11657191
Certainly, they don't want stateside competition. That's why Joytoy has to say they aren't legally allowed to sell in the states.

Original series first season is a secret anime made by Toei.
>>
The biggest laws is we won't ever get anything done with the original molds again. It might not seem like it matters since Playmates has re-released them 100 times but it was always nice to see them come out again from time to time.
>>
>>11657242
Maybe now companies can use the Turtles license and work with Varner Studios to create new sculpts of the classic toys like Trick or Treat Studios did with the Toxic Crusader figures.

playmates has been squandering what they had ever since they were the only toy company that would sponsor something called 'teenage mutant ninja turtles'. everyone else was like lol no fuck you, what a stupid idea.
The one good decision they made was hiring ex-mattel sculptors coming off of the cessation of He-man, and letting a bunch of brilliant people sketch and design the toys, including the actual creators.
Everything else has been cheaping out, goofing off, endless lazy recycles... since at least the early 90s. And they have never changed
it took them til the 2007 movie to finally put in hips that swing forward and back, not at a 45 degree angle
They sabotaged another company using their designs despite there being zero crossover conflict
they've taken an already cheaped-out product with missing paint apps and started -not painting the backs of figures-
they are fucking cheapo scum and a black mark on the good name of taiwanese business.

Viacom is the great satan, but yknow, Laird should never have sold to them. They're just doing what they always do..

Not just that, they've been doing this shit forever now. They made that Mirage TMNT line just to try and keep NECA from continuing their Mirage line back in the day. And then they didn't even release those figures!
>>
>>11656855
Where do you want them to evolve to as a toymaker? Towards Hasbro that mostly just aim for 'the adult collector' and raise their prices insanely? Do you want MTG cards packed in with your TMNT figures with a price increase of an extra 20 bucks due to it?
>>
>>11657559
Better than what they've been doing.
>>
>>11657544
i dont understand how that isnt illegal
there are laws in place saying if you want to protect your IP rights, you have to use them, but you keep getting shit like the Corman Fantastic Four, the Blazing Saddles TV series, where they make it and then don't bother releasing it because it was just to keep the rights
if you dont PUBLISH it, how the fuck can you keep the rights? you gotta publish something before you can copyright it, how is this not similar?
>oh but it costs money to actually release it
not anymore it doesn't. just leak it online. okay I guess that's harder for toys, but just sell them.
>>
>>11657572

>>11656892
Mattel will be too busy with DC and still continuing Heman for a bit more at least til the movie or a lot more if the movie does well.

Also it seems like a lot of toy companies are making turtles right now so I am unsure what people are trying to get another company to claim. Just the fact that all these other companies have muscled in on Playmates' domain may be why they felt they did not want the license anymore

>>11657629
>>11657643
The reason they put the age range as 14+ is because they haven't met ASTM F963 standards and cannot be sold as children's toys. This isn't some arbitrary thing, this is to comply with Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), which is the law requiring toys sold to children meet a certain safety standard. Such as not having lead paint, which would have benefitted you retards.

>>11657572
I hope Mattel gets the license. They've been doing really great balancing figures that are good for both kids and collectors, they already have plenty of other lines that would make for great crossovers (Street Sharks, Extreme Dinosaurs like you said). They'd probably do a great job of making figures that could still fit with your vintage figures to a decent degree.
Hasbro probably can't afford to take on another licensed brand at this point, they need something that generates total profit, especially the way they keep bungling things like they did with Power Rangers.
>>
>>11657762
i gotta say i'd love if extreme dinosaurs got another take. they're JUST cool and gnarly enough to deserve it, ideally with some reimagining. and definitely looking more like the toys than the cartoon

the sad thing about the true thing you've said is that Hasbro really can't afford to do -anything- until they stop bungling things. Every single thing they do is another nail in the coffin, so they should have mass layoffs of all executives and start over.
>>
>>11657796
>i gotta say i'd love if extreme dinosaurs got another take.
I'm surprised Mattel haven't tried to get them back onto shelves with how much merchandise they do for Jurassic World. Maybe they don't want to compete with themselves, or maybe dilute the Dinosaur market, but it seems like a weird choice not to do ANYTHING, even a collector line through BBTS or something.
>>

Granted they wouldn't have the rubber or mass (Or possibly even a "biting" feature) as the original and 2024 lines but at least we'll get better-made figures that can even fit in vehicles (Like having Piranoid or one of his flunkies in a Foot Module). Maybe even give them a vintage Playmates-style.

>>11657974
Playmates became an obstructionist company. When better conpanies tried to make toys (NECA, Super7, etc) Playmates went full Karen and tried to stop it all.

Playmates also refused to do better. When they would release vintage figure repros, they would make them worse. Remove weapons or paint apps. Even going so far as to release figures with the paint apps only to remove it on the next run.

Their newer lines struggled to ever feel modern. Kids toys don't have to have swivel ankles. They also don't have to have poorly scaled villains. Or like in Rise, make the bigger characters THINNER so they use less plastic.

They're just a bad, vindictive company.

While Playmates is loosing the license they still do have an entire year left before that happens. Their re-releases in the last year were actually fairly decent with the Sewer playset, Mutant Module, Foot Cruiser, even the last set of figures with an actually-chromed Chrome Dome figure in 2025. With such a short amount of time what is left from the original Turtles toyline you'd like to see them re-release? For figures I'd say the Warrior Winged wave just because of the rarity of it, and the Head-Droppin' Turtles out of greed because those were my favorite main Turtle figures and my main team as a kid. For vehicles the Mega Mutants are an absolute must do. The Footski is iconic so I'd like to see that, and a personal favorite of mine, the Sewer Sub.
>>

>>
>>11659897
So whats stopping them from doing that?
>>
>>11659903

I'unno. Busy holiday season? Waiting for the fiscal year to end?
>>
>>11659914
Read the statement again. This isn't them deciding to not renew the license. Playmates were notified by the licensor that the license would not be renewed. Paramount/Viacom told them to kick rocks.
>>
>>11659936
And with good cause!
>>
So what of all things led to Playmates losing the license? Did Playmates do something specifically that upset Viacom? Were the MM sales really that bad? Is this a case of Playmates not really doing anything specifically wrong but some other company just gave Viacom a better offer for the main license?
>>
>>11660053
We don't know, and we are unlikely to ever know, but I don't think that poor sales of MM can be attributed solely to Playmates because the movie didn't really help sell figures, though Paramount may have used it to help justify the decision.
My theory is that they bitched one too many times about other licensees, and tried to throw their weight around when renegotiating for the license renewal to try to hamstring the other licensees.
We know they fucked with NECA in the early years, and then fucked with the Super7 vintage line. And recently we had both Joytoy and Jinglihung Turtles go up for preorder on BBTS only to be removed shortly after with no explanation why, and I suspect it was because Playmates was making threats against the licensor for violating a clause in their master license agreement.
So after being a total pain in the ass for Paramount/Viacom for a decade, they tried to dictate terms to stop other companies doing what they are doing, and the licensing department weighed up if it was worth losing money from however many companies they have let have the license just to appease a bunch of whiny chinks that cost the company money every time they start stomping their feet to make the Paramount legal team pore through the contracts to avoid getting fucked over.

I've been reading that Paramount have increased their licensing fees by 2000% for some properties like Star Trek, and the rumor is that it's apparently some sort of plan to squeeze out smaller boutique companies so that all of their properties are managed by a few megacorporations, who Ellison likely has shares in or is "friends" with.

The licence be to start selling merch in 2027 when Playmates lose the right to, so a manufacturer will need to pay for the license soon so they can start tooling to have stock ready to ship at the start of 2027.
>>
>>11660186
Doesn't this mean that in 2027 TMNT toys will basically disappear from everywhere since no one is going to want to pay such a high license fee?
>>
>>11660246
I just realised I answered your first question incorrectly. Unless Paramount cancel the existing licenses, NECA and Todd won't have to pay the 2000% increase until it's time for them to renew the contract. I'm not sure when they will have to renew. It's usually just every 2-3 years on average, depending on the license.
>>
>>11660251
Ah ok, so it will be sort of a rolling blackout of licenses as their renewals come up depending on the date they first got the license agreement. Maybe it will give Paramount time to reconsider but I assume they won't because businesses gonna business.

The curse of Cobrai Kai killed two toylines.
>>
>>11660595
Why did they thing this spin-off was this big? I would never assume it had action figure level relevance. And sure enough these always kit clearance.
>>
>>11660617
TMNT seemed to want to collab with anything 80's related so at the very least a Karate Kid crossover doesn't feel completely out of place

No idea why Power Rangers did
>>
>>11660621
Aren't the mighty morphin power rangers martial artists to an extent?
>>
>>11656857
No. It's the fans' fault for hating it, and pretending Mutant Mayhem is any better
>>
>>11660686
It's Nickelodeon's fault for making it.
>>
>>11660686
Rise was fucking cancer though, mutant mayhem isnt perfect but was far better
>>
>>11660179
Nuh uh they have a MBA so they know business gooder.
>>
Can you imagine the history that is destroyed by Playmates losing the TMNT license? People may not have liked the re-releases, but now those tools will be melted down. History is being destroyed as we speak.
>>
>>11660815
They both make the same fatal mistake of having the turtles be faggot going-through-pubery Stranger Things teens instead of kick ass Bill and Ted "teens". At least that's my impression having watched neither.
>>
>>11660686
This unironically.
>>
>>11660976
>instead of kick ass Bill and Ted "teens"
This is actually what Rise had in spades but people found it too irreverent because the Turtles weren't bushido enough, when really they just didn't like the new lore changes. Besides
>faggot going-through-pubery Stranger Things teens
At worst, this is only truly applicable to Mikey and that's just because he's the youngest of the four in Rise.

Even at the time though, when I look back at how Playmates handled Rise, they regularly fucked up the scaling of characters across the board while implementing very outdated articulation schemes. This became a consistent enough issue even after Rise had come and gone, which is why I'm glad other companies like NECA had become enough of a mainstay because Playmates could never get their shit together and update their engineering. So yeah while it sucks, I'll be the one to say that TMNT deserved better than how Playmates has been treating it over the years.
>>
Don't know if this is has been reported, but having gotten two copies of the McFarlane IDW Shredder (one for keeping and one for customizing), the figure itself has a consistent QC issue where his left bicep joint is literally glued together while his right bicep is perfetly fine. This is a consistent enough issue that I noticed it in various people's reviews, but no one seems to have caught on it. A shame too because the sculpt and general articulation is decent enough besides that one issue. I ought to wonder if someone high up in the manufacturing process fucked up and had to have given the okay on this.
>>
>>11661223
Stuff like that only happens because people keep buying from them despite it happening. And it's 28 bucks for a 5" figure so the fact people put up with QC issues is madness.
>>
>>11661217
>when I look back at how Playmates handled Rise, they regularly fucked up the scaling of characters across the board
Playmates have rarely if ever given a fuck about scale. 2012 was the worst case for this, but I'm sure even 2k3 Leatherhead was way too small. Maybe a few others too like the Triceratons and Stonebiter.
>>
What are your hopes for Playmates in 2026?
I think they'll do some re-releases, whatever they had already been working on for MM.
But I'm hoping we get some Remastered figures that were already being worked on, I'd love a Slash though I guess Rockstead/Bebop are more likely.
>>11655283
>>11656542
the ones with pimple scars somehow look better, I think it's the lack of muscle/veins

>>
So is Playmates losing the license sad given the vintage toyline was one of the main reasons people started to give a shit about the franchise or hilarious given how incompetent they've been for decades (They even fucked up the vintage line when they axed the basic line in 1993 in favor of random shit like Cyber Samurai Supermutants and Metal Mutants).
>>
>>11660170
thank god for the Chinese, they’ll just go right back to making bootleg turtles instead of paying the licenses
>>
>>11661270
Scratch reissue
>>
>>11661561
Joytoy might keep going because I'm pretty sure they already pay out the ass for the 40k license because Games Workshop don't know how to not rip off anybody giving them money.
But the rest will just do the Fury/Rage/Rave Toys thing and change the company's name for every second release.
>>

Wishful thinking, rampage toys. If they're witty, they could utilize the fact that the series is about humans mutated into giant monsters from toxic waste, there they could still use slime gimmicks, and with the whole building aspect, have blocks incorporated.
>>
>>11660595
Surprised the CK power rangers collab figs never hit ROSS or Ollies. I really wanted those skele putties but not for retail price.
>>
>>11661672
>>Street Sharks crossovers
>>Extreme Dinosaurs crossovers
Not happening

>>More He-Man crossovers
Maybe but doubtful after they ran the other line to the finish line.
>>
>>11661902
They are already teasing a Street Sharks TMNT crossover in IDW Comics.
>>
>>11661902
Oh boy, Necanon, that you? Let me guess, somehow, even acknowleding the Street Sharks will kill the TMNT brand, despite them crossing over in/with:
>Garfield, Cowboys of Moo Mesa, ALF, Muppet Babies, Batman, DC, Cobra Kai, Ghost Busters, He-Man, Fortnite, Beavis and Butthead, TeenTitansGo, Godzilla, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Looney Tunes, Stranger Things, Power Rangers, Transformers, Smurfs, Archie/Riverdale, Universal Monsters ect.
But somehow, Street Sharks would kill the series worse than Next Mutation, Rise, and Mutant Mayhem combined, right?
>>
>>11661950
No, Necanon, explain to me how Street Sharks crossing over with Ninja Turtles is such a bad idea, it'll kill Playmates. It can't be any worse than when you swore up and down EVERY hates Elmo, then you where the only one who disliked him.
>>
What do you know, he's wrong and derailing.
In before them saying 'we're focusing on he-man until 2026' means 'STREET SHARKS IS DEAD'

So yeah, if Mattel gets them, they're gonna have the Sharks, maybe the Dinosaurs, show up, since it'd be the Extreme Dinosaurs' 20th soon.

If Hasbro gets them, they're gonna kill the franchise by focusing just on the first season of the Fred Wolf cartoon.

They can already work the Extreme Dinosaurs into a storyline crossover toy series, while re-releasing the rarest turtle variants.
>>
>>11662020
oh yeah, it could work.
>raptors team up with shredder
>they put t-rex dna in him
>the extreme dinosaurs and the turtles meet
>they get their asses whooped
>the extreme dinosaurs offer dna to the turtles turning them into the dino-turtles
same can be said for the sharks coming to help the turtles fight shark shredder, armagon, blugeon and the shark from tortugas comics.
>>
>>11662026
Makes as much sense as them teaming up with Usagi and the Cowboys of M.O.O Mesa.
>>
>>11662031
No, those make far more sense. And more liked.
>>
>>11662031
>All five franchises team up to shit on Shredder.
>>
>>11662040
Nah, won't happen
>>
>>11662026
I'll do you one better. Shredder and the Raptors ally themselves with the Triceratons. Shredder becomes Shredder Rex. Turtles and the Extreme Dinosaurs team up to stop a prehistoric invasion.
>>
>>11662043
Oooh! Except that doesn't make a lick of sense. Thankfully it will never happen.
>>
>>11662043
This makes so much sense.
>>
>>11662045

>>
I actually hope Mattel gets the license, not for the cool crossovers, but because fuck Hasbro.

>A regular action figure from Hasbro costs fucking 40 dollars.
>>
>>11662048
There won't be any crossovers.

But the deal is already confirmed to be done. We'll get an announcement in a few months.
>>
>>11662054

>>
>>11662055
>>11662054
>yfw it's a fucking Netflix Wednesday crossover
>>
>>11662043
>>11662026
Makes much more sense then the schlock they produced to explain why Leo, Raph and Mikey are suddenly hybrids of Turtle + Godzilla/Rodan/King Ghidorah, or what ever the fuck they said for Donnie and Jet Jaguar to fuse.
>>
>>11662083
Playmates did. That's why we got these
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR6T1CZg_r4
>Godzilla attacked the Footclan 70 years ago
>The Footclan was able to beat Mothra, Kumonga, and a few other monsters
>Fast forward to present day
>Shredder somehow combines with MechaGodzilla
>Bebop combines with Megalon
>Rocksteady becomes Destoroyah.
>Splinter gives the turtles a power to combine them with kaiju to fight them
>LeoZilla, Raphdan, King Mikeydorah, and Jet Jagdonnie.
Infact, them teaming up with the Sharks or Dinosaurs would be tame compared to this.
>>
>>11662091
And the He-Man crossover had them merging with established Masters of the Universe characters too, didn't they?
>>
When we getting the Disney TMNT?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TXOUAeWUrY
>>
>>11662094
If by merging just them arming up with eternia's weapons and armor, then i guess you could say that they have merged. You know despite the fact that both don and duncan still being seperate characters with different equipment.
>>
>>11662094
>>11662152
There were a few types of characters in ToG.
>mutant versions of MOTU characters like Moss-Man and Rattlor
>TMNT characters wearing MOTU armor like Donnie in MAA armor and Mikey in Battle Armor
>MOTU characters in samurai/Turtle armor like Beast Man and MAA
>merged characters like Metal-Roboto, Megator-Krang, and Shreddator
>weird shit like Ninjor being a dragon in disguise for some reason
It's not like they limited themselves to one idea.
>>
>>11662091
Not true at all. The Godzilla stuff makes more sense than that. And Godzilla sells, unlike Street Sharks and Extreme Dinosaurs.
>>
>>11662048
Also
>A TMNT equivalent to MOTU Origins that doesn't suck ass like Playmates attempt with Remastered.
>A "Turtleverse" line that offers 7-inch, fully articulated figures with unique designes that come with parts to make "default" versions of the characters a la New Eternia.
>>
>>11662056
Imagine a Sesame Street Ninja Turtles crossover.
Leo-Grover
Count Don Count
Michel-Ernie-o
And everyone's favorite, Raphaelmo.
>>
>>11662280
Not only is that retarded, but that is the stupidest idea yet. Fuck right off with that.
>>
>>11662283
I tied each Turtle's bandana color to a Muppet of the same color. And a couple of the names work really well, like Count Don Count and Raphaelmo. The other two were a bit of a stretch, but the colors match. I suppose it could have been Herrynardo instead.
Actually, that works better.
Thanks. You are helping me to flesh out this concept. I might even see if Grok or Gemini can whip up some images of what potential figures would look like.
Keep replying, because engaging with me will encourage me to develop this idea further.
>>
>>11662288
Shredder-Mumford aka The Amazing Shredder. He can have eyebrows on his helmet just like the Playmates figure.
>>
>>11662298
You're not even talented when you troll. That's sad.
>>
Does no one care about the Mezco line anymore?
Mezco TMNT were hailed as the best TMNT figures I still agree
Toon Turtles, looked awful but whatever
Movie turtles have pros and cons not worth the price when NECA does a great job already but not bad
Mezco Casey Jones a great figure even if expensive
Casey reissue with diff outfits, too expensive to double dip but I do like the extra accessories, repainted head and hoodie instead of the stupid denim jacket
Shredder a bit of a disappointment, lacking in accessories but it looks like a great figure
>>
i dunno, i like the street sharks ninja turtles idea, and if we get a figure of shark shredder finally, that's icing on the cake

I hope we get a revival of the Playmates figures, but they make new characters like Tempestra, Karai, and Kerma. And the rest of the Punk Frogs.
>>
>>11662750
Lol fuuuck no that's not happening. You think they're going to TRY HARDER in the last year? Pffffhahahaha.
>>
>>11662847
It's not even about trying harder. They love doing reissues, and there is no point in them making new molds that they won't be able to milk for the next decade. I bet they are regretting making that new Technodrome tooling that they won't be able to reissue every two years now.
>>
Toy release schedules are already set over a year ahead of time. They will not be doing anything special for a surprise loss of the license with slightly over a year lead time.

They showed off Mutant Mayhem Tokka and Rahzar, and I think Scaleface? Those are probably gonna be canceled though.

When will we get a Vanilla Ice figure?
>>
>>11663258
Highly possible. Losing TMNT loses them some major revenue. Does putting those figures into prouction make them money or will it lose them money? They're a dead company walking now.
>>
>>11663258
>>11663362
It depends how far along they were in the tooling process. If they were only starting the tooling they are most likely cancelled, but if they have finished the molds and they were ready to start production soon, they will probably want to recoup their investment.
>>
Spin masters
>>
Think as a desperate attempt to not fold, Playmates is going to once again look for a struggling comic publisher and beg them for the toy rights to whatever series they have that looks marketable enough?
Then again the comic industry is pretty much dying anyway.
>>
>>11664088
You act like TMNT is the only thing they have that sells. They're not gonna instantly die on January 1st 2027.
>>
>>11664130
It literally is. Their trek shit died, Godzilla is shit and doesn't sell, Power Rangers is a laughing stock.
>>
>>11664151
Godzilla is doing fine. And apparently so is Winx.
>>
>>11663575
>Even in what might possibly their last TMNT line they pull off their "cancel line immediately after showing off future figures" policy they've always had since the early 90s.
>>
Is Neca going out of business too, because nobody is making new threads?
>>
>>11664287
neca doesn't really have any hype at the moment. Not really many good IPs or exciting releases. Same for Power Rangers. Godzilla is in a holding pattern because SHM is ripping people off and Hiya has delayed tons of preorders and canceled others due to the Diamond situation, since Diamond was their US distributor and now they have to figure it all out themselves. Amazon basically threw up their hands and canceled tons of Hiya preorders.
>>
>>11664287
It has nothing to do with "hype" things have been slow all over. If you actually bought toys you'd know that.

It really didn't. All of them were wacky and snarky and attempting to be some flavor of an irreverent cool guy, while all of them were deeply insecure or smug and overconfident to a fault, so they'd be open for jokes where they laugh it off and say shit like
>Meant to do that! haha

Mutant Mayhem dialed down that shit in favor of Rick and Morty mumbly dialog where everyone tries to quip over each other, except you've got 4 fucking characters doing it for the entire movie.
