Welcome to the Fashion Doll General!

A thread for discussion of fashion dolls including Barbie, Disney, LOL OMG, Rainbow High, Monster High, Licca-chan etc but not BJD. There is a BJD general over in /jp/.

Other toys considered dolls as well as girl collectable toys that are related to dolls or can be used as accessories to dolls are also welcome such as LOL, Shopkins, Polly Pocket and the like.

*Reminder to ignore trolling, bait and off topic posts instead of responding.*

Note that the lastcall30 mattel promo code does not work for the scissorhands doll. Disappointed
>>
Forgive my ignorance (I don't normally browse this thread), but do they sell individual outfits for male fashion dolls? I think I've only seen female outfits in the pink aisle, and it seems like the only soft goods for male action figures are military/police/firefighting uniforms. I' m in need of something like streetwear/sportswear for an idea that I want to test out.

>do they sell individual outfits for male fashion dolls?

Yes! You can usually find them mixed in with the other Barbie fashions at any Target or Wal-Mart store. Be aware that the quality is a bit cheap and the styles are a bit "girly." You're better off in the long run ordering a pack of 3rd party male fashion doll clothes off Ebay or Amazon.

I really want the autistic Barbie I think that would be cool
>>
>>11658617
The autistic Barbie is the girl reading this
>>
why do rainbow highs have to have such flat faces i keep thinking they look cute and almost buy them but then I turn them around
>>
>>11661631
Probably to make it easier for the factory workers to push the eyeballs in. Properly plush cheeks and noses could get in the way.
>>
>>11661501
I am autistic! I like representation
>>
>>11658617
>>11662380
An autistic Barbie wouldn't look any different from a regular Barbie. She would just have no friends and no social skills.
>>
The yellow and blue Latinistas clothes packs are $3 each at some walmarts right now. Maybe online too.

Should be a good fit for curvy barbie. No idea how they fit on other dolls wirh wider hips.
>>
>>11662755
Seems not all walmarts are doing this.

I did get lucky and they still had Jem dolls marked $10. Got a few just in case they end the line
>>
>>11662655
she has eat blockers and a communication device
>>
>>11662655
>An autistic Barbie wouldn't look any different from a regular Barbie.

Maybe. That would be pretty high functioning.

They could package her wirh autistic accessories like game of thrones / super natural home erotic fanfiction.

Clothes that dont fit just right or match.

An assortment of hyper fixation.

The same foods ahe eats every day.

A hyper clean or ultra messy dream house.

Also, they could just make her smell and be fat if her hyper fixation prevent her from washing and eatinf right
>>
>>11661631
>why do rainbow highs have to have such flat faces i keep thinking they look cute and almost buy them but then I turn them around

Women want representation while also hating their nose. They all want the nose of a 12 year old Irish girl.

Smashing the nose in is some fucking weird compromise between wanting representation and hating their own faces.

Its fucking weird
>>
>>11662916
she has headphones and an aac!

also I'm the other anon but I'm not high functioning
>>
>>11662950
The noise canceling headphones are a nice touch. But most autistic girls with that sort of sensory issues aren't that skinny or wear skirts.

Running around in old worn out underwear with a giant baggy tahirt with the tags cut out of all of it would be more apt. I guess tou cant sell a pasty white, 25 lbs over weight barbie with a warn out tshirt and panties to kids. Or be honest with 12 year old autistic girls on what they will be like when they become adults

I guess an autistic barbie could look like just another barbie but how would they represent how she comes hoke exhausted from high functioning masking all day?
>>
>>11662982
for me she's relatable. I don't wear headphones but I wear earplugs (custom made). I am a bit overweight but I'm trying to lose weight. I do also wear dresses. also how did you know about the undies thing? mine are so worn out...
>>
>>11662982
>>11662990
That sounds like fanfiction fantasy of what men think autistic women are like ("she's just like me fr!") I'm an actually diagnosed autistic woman, 110lbs, good hygiene, and wear skirts all the time. I have plenty of sensory issues, no social skills and no friends, can't even make eye contact... but in terms of looks, I would blend into a crowd of normie women just fine. What your describing sounds like someone with severe depression or a personality disorder instead.

Level 3 autists are drooling retards who wouldn't be able to post here. Level 2s are pretty retarded as well and also unlikely to be here. If you're posting here, with full sentences and paragraphs and comprehension, you're a level 1 so yes we are the same. Also only ever seen fakers use the woke "support needs" lingo. We say high/low functioning.

I always felt this line and the naturalista line were scams, they claim to be owned by those woman of color yet all the money go to some caricature middle age white men that actually own the company and just want the money and space of actual toy lines made by and for people of color like the fresh dolls, were there is actual documentation of the creator involvement, dr Lisa.

The Jerrica and Synergy Jem set is in people's hands. At least it got released, but man... They called it an SDCC exclusive but didn't sell it at SDCC. The preorder page went up after. They were due to ship on December 1st but didn't. TLS said they were in stock on the 6th with the order page due to go live on the 8th, but it never did. Amazon got them in stock before TLS, where I got it with free shipping as opposed to the $20 postage TLS was asking. I know the set is 4 pounds but damn... Nice it got made but TLS seems clueless, despite the toy industry being so old in general & John Warden having experience. But the band has been pushed back to March now & the Pizzazz proto from last February has been given no indication of release. I'm unsure if it's TLS stupidity or the very weird, lazy, disinterested way Hasbro seems to regard the franchise- like they admit it exists but go to poor efforts to revive it & merch is generally a slow trickle.

So how is the set? Decent. The "exclusive" price is bs thanks to it not being a true exclusive, but even at $60 you still get a better deal than a collector Barbie(She-Ra was $55 & had little. The $50 Poison Ivy is atrocious). Lacking a bit in accessories compared to what Jem got packed with, though, but Synergy hardly justified any & technically the Jerrica outfit Jem had works better here. I don't get the point of doll combs either, the teeth are always too big... Synergy's headband is under the hair, not over it.
>>
>>11664730
I don't know why. Maybe they couldn't find a solution for the headband to work right or felt it tied the hair down too bad, though Kimber is noticeably got way too much hair too(her Integrity doll did the same) so it might be something Hasbro is forcing for "play pattern" reasons. Honestly, Jerrica's short cut is the only "accurate" one, every other doll fails to get the 80s big hair right, because it would have to be glued or sculpted plastic. Doll hair just can't really do it right.

Jerrica is more suntanned than Jem, which looks to be deliberate. Pics make her head mismatch the body but it looks fine in person probably different materials photographing that way. It was also clear certain joints were intended for dresses or sleeves as the double elbows look funny when bent & Synergy has a blatant misalignment in the thigh cut from how her leg is turned & posed in the tray, the thigh is a bit oval-shaped.

Weird how these are top-tier QC though when the MASK line is pissing people off with it's bootleg-tier quality. Price increases again suck, but everything is going up and Jem felt almost discounted with the quality & accessories included especially the body alone, a loose articulated unbranded 1/6 female body like that would be $25 or more. The ones saying they will write the line off were more than happy to buy the expensive Integrity line(which honestly that line looks bad, TLS ones are an improvement). They're still beating Mattel on value- Mattel decided stands are not essential anymore.
>>
>>11664737
And of course, there is little line hype outside of nostalgia. True, Jem's cheap price at Walmart probably sold her to kids as a curiosity alone, with no idea it's a nostalgia brand. But... Well the movie sucked bad, the cartoon isn't on streaming, the DVD set us expensive compared to other 80s toons($42 in Amazon, a sale price... You can get He-Man & She-Ra both for that) but Hasbro toons are weirdly priced more even though Transformers & GI Joe are officially on Youtube. Probably just as well the IDW comics are canned as they sucked too. New media isn't coming, outside of the "remastered" cover music album. A lot of merch is coming out after the 40th anniversary & all of it was outsourced to other companies. I wonder why Hasbro is so barely interested...
>>
>>11664691
I dont know anon. I just want pants thar fit my fat ass barbies
>>
>>11663067
>can't even make eye contact... but in terms of looks, I would blend into a crowd of normie women just fine.

Its not that unusual for autistic and other neurodiveregent people to think they are stealth when they are not. If they could figure out how they are different, they wouldn't be doing those things.

Autism is also a spectrum. So your symptoms aren't everyone's.
>>
>>11663076
>I'm taking a survey. Everyone please reply with your gender assigned at birth, gender you identify as, and sexual orientation. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Dangerous question to be asking in a dollar thread, and not because of troons

You could get the Jem doll for 15 on the website. I got 7 of them for 10 each At a rural walmart. They kick the shit out of matters $10 dolls
>>
>>11665335
why's that?
>>
>>11665349

Dolls are often collected by:

Gay men
Really weird straight men
Straight men buying specific lines that their sisters had or are adjacent to brands they already like (DC, marvel, she ra, universal monsters, etc)
Weird post menopauseal women
Women way into a subculture like pin ups, rock a Billy, roller derby, etc
Autistic women

Worring about troons is just silly. You can go to any lbgt space. Troons dont really collect toys, if only because they dump all their money into hrt, surgeries, clothes, make up. You'd be hard pressed to find real photo evidence of a troon collecting a lot of dolls. Closest thing I've seen is like streamers who buy statues to put in the background on their streams.

I got a fancy jasmine doll on that last mattel sale.

Sucks that this red outfit pack is so expensive. The doll ships with a purple dress i dont care about at all. Blue or ted from the first movie is all I care about

The clothes pack proves they have given ber purple dresses before. When did the idea of jasmine in a purple dress start?
>>

By the time I saw the TLS sale, the Jem stuff was sold out. But I already have 2 copies, thing looks so nice boxed I got a spare & it helps sell more. Your Walmart had enough to go on sale? Mine never had them last. I don't like the waist clips though, never cared for the Monster High stands either, always feels like they risk damaging clothing. Springy clips like what Blokees uses is best.
>>
>>11665355
The red dress canon or just an odd Shantae homage?
>>
>>11666029
>The red dress canon

Anon...red outfit is how she dresses when Jafar turns her into his love slave. I think there is a similar outfit with her hair pulled back and boots in an episode of the tv series.

Disney's aladdin was 92. Shantae was 2002 and probably based on a mixture of westernized Arabian characters like Jasmine and I dream a genie
>>
>>11665334
Women who act like that are just assumed to be shy or quirky, not autistic. No one assumes autism in women irl, partially because it's way more rare than in men. The spectrum shit is new age woke bs made up after they decided to get rid of the Asperger's label, which has led to all these Tiktok self diagnosis fakers ignoring diagnostic criteria.

I'm still here.

Jasmine dolls are a weird black hole to dive into. They've oddly made a lot of them.

I like this Christmas one. There is something funny about a persion princess that runs around dressed as a harem girl dressed for what would have been a pagan/christian winter ball in Europe or the UK.

Disney just did not give a shit back in the 90s.

After 2000, I think most Jasmine dolls came in a dress or something dress adjacent. For one of the first princesses to run around in pants, Disney sure did hate to let her wear them.

I don't know if it was brand synergy with the other princesses or them trying to distance themselves from her running around in a westernized belly dancing harem outfit.

I very much like how her eyes are printed so she’s not making eye contact. But as an autistic child I would have vastly preferred fully articulated warrior Princess Barbies or Kung fu Barbies as I obsessively stayed up to watch old kung fu movies every night, I didn’t want a ‘me’ Barbie.

>>
>>11674802
Wow I thought this was just an AI mock-up, not a real doll. Lots of stupidity going on here. She has a fidget spinner which is not something autists use, that's ADHD shit. And she's got the ear muffs and AAC device signaling that she's the total retard type of autist. And she's black for some reason even though autists are overwhelmingly white? Frankly as an autist I'm a little offended. I hate autistic reboot Twyla too, also badly done.
>>
>>11675486
yeah I wish she was white too, but apart from that it's fine. do you know how happy I am to see ear protector and aac representation? like I'm really happy. what's funny to me, as another autist myself, is that i think G1 twyla reads better as an autistic character than she does in G3, without any of the hamfisted bullshit too because it wasn't exactly intentional.
