Got this bad boy as a Christmas gift today and so far, I think it's pretty sick. Haven't opened him yet but despite it not being mainline Bowser, the heftiness and detailing is awesome. Also just like the more menacing design compared to his main counterpart. How would you rank him amongst the other Bowser figures, /toy/? Post/discuss other Super Mario toys too and Merry Christmas!
>>11658224Definitely one of the coolest movie toys ever made. I have the old Jakks Bowser and I love that as it is, but this one has articulation and a cool steam breath feature. I also play it as a Giga Bowser we've yet to have because of how menacing it also looks. Merry Christmas, OP
>>11658837Thanks, anon! I'm sure some people get hung up on it because it's the movie design but if you look past that, it's the one to go with if the mainline design looks too soft for your tastes. Still though, the other figures are cool if you want that mainline consistency when putting them next to each other. The rest of the cast besides maybe Toad though, pass.I hope movie Yoshi gets a good figure this year.
https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/146842Looks like there are some good deals on jakks Mario stuff on bbts.
>>11658862Thank you for the link. I'll consider it. Could be the rabbit hole plunge of starting a Mario/Smash collection.
>>11658224i don't have any mario toys. mario isn't really my thing, sorry.
Still waiting on the last koopa kids as figures.
>>11658862Best Jakks Pacific 4" Mario?
>>11658224I used to wonder why Mario toys were so incredibly rare back in the early 90s when Mario was very mainstream popular and everywhere. They were not shy about slapping a Mario on everything else and selling it like lamps, clothes, bubble bath, shampoo, sheets, curtains, phones, cards, but almost never just ordinary toys.
>>11658224Super Mario is one of those franchises where just about everything in it works incredibly well as a plushie. Since most of the enemies are little cute chubby critters. I managed to grab a Bowser, Raccoon Mario, Larry Koopa, and a company in China makes 90s cartoon King Koopa. It's surprisingly good quality too.
>>11659776Koopa, they even got the 5 spikes on the shell right
>>11659779Yeah, I have that plush! It's like a bootleg or something? But it is good quality.
>>11659774The Mario 3 happy meal toys were all I ever had as a kid and I always wanted more. Definitely seems like a missed opportunity.
>>11658862Update: Nabbed these two.Did I fuck up, /toy/? I like the fact that it looks like you can make them wave and find the closed fists to be awkward looking in addition to Mario being reserved while Luigi is more excitable. Seems in-character and they should look good next to movie Bowser.
>>11660067>Did I fuck up, /toy/?unless these are the updated ones, maybe. You could easily find them anywhere else, but nothing beats the SHFs
>>11660075>but nothing beats the SHFsI'm fine with settling. Mario's wave 22 but not sure about Luigi.
What are the chances that this guy is going to become highly valuable long after he's off the market? Correct me if I'm wrong but this might be the last time we ever see Rare DK again now that Nintendo changed him.
>>11660079ok, but the SHFs have full thigh articulation. Maybe you won't like their open mouths, but ill compromise that for superior articulation. then again, they also have limited elbows, something Jakks beats otherwise. There is just surprisingly no ultimately perfect Mario toy
>>11660655One day he'll be a meme like Piglet's Big Game and Steamed Hams. Until then, he's Jakks' biggest mistake.
>>11659774It bewilders me how Nintendo has not capitalized on making toys of the Koopa Clown Car.>Comes with Mr. Potato Head-like features such as being able to slap on different facial expressions and weapons.>Can be multiple sizes depending on what Bowser figure you want to set inside or shove multiple characters in there like the Koopalings or just one small one for Bowser Jr.>There can be two versions with one being the classic flying vehicle that comes with a stand and another can be based off the MK version with wheels.
>>11660067I did the same exact thing. I guess we will see!
Just wanted to share my updated goomba shelf.
>>11659199
>>11661345Cute. I had no idea that there were that many Goomba figures out there.Speaking of Goombas I wish there were a figure of best girl Goombella. It'll never happen since her only appearance was as a piece of paper but I still want one.
>>11661345You are not fucking around.
>>11661345I don't think I see him. He's 50% off right nowhttps://www.hallmark.com/ornaments/keepsake-ornaments/mini-nintendo-super-mario-goomba-ornament-1-5QXM9392.html
>>11659774>>11659827The closest they got was the Applause pvc figurines that came out around 1989. But those mostly sold in collectable shops and book stores, like all the Applause figurines. The Mario 3 McDonalds toy was one of these with different paint and raccoon ears and a tail added.
>>116582244" Chain Chomp on discord. Waiting for pic of the back
>>11661811Dude I loved these. In Canada they were given out at Shell gas stations I think? There was a TV commercial where it was like the first stage of SMB but the flag at the end was the shell logo. I buged my parents to go there and get me some. The year 1989 is legit because from my life history I can tell that's the year the commercial would have been running.Shit dude wow that picture blew my mind. I am going to collect these now.
>>11662886Cool. I always enjoy a toy with chompy mouth action.
>>11662886Nice
>>11658837It scales better with the mainline Mario. As for giga Bowser, the new 13" tall one is kinda that...
>>11664749Costco Bowser is just a bigger Jakks, but Movie Bowser has height, face and detailing that makes it more what Giga represents
For some reason I thought that this thing would have bendy wire fucking jakks that's why everything is on clearance
