>everything i want now is street dated or a preorder
>companies hold off everything in store for shitty "bomb" style drop events every 3 months or so with barely anything releasing in between
Anyone else fucking pissed off by this shit? Target especially is infamous for this shit, as alot of figures have non manufacturer street dates now that target themselves arbitrarily puts on items for their shitty reset date. Its a recent move too like within the past 3 years or so its gotten to be the norm. Whats worse is that nothing new releases around christmas time at all now, despite 10+ years ago thats when all the new toys would usually come out. Intentionally baiting people for months on end with no new product in between just enrages customers imo.

I abandoned in-store shopping for toys and went full online POs after covid. It's just a waste of time now. All the issues you listed, plus, my area is especially congested with collectors so by the time something finally does show up on shelves its instantly bought up by scalpers and might as well have never existed. The only place guaranteed to have stock around me are comic shops or specialty stores but they stay in stock because the markup prices are ludicrous.

I hate pre orders to tho since i have to buy something that i wont get for like 6 months. I begrudgingly have been preordering more tho since alot of things i want are internet exclusive's now and get sold out any other way. I still want instant gratification and the fact that stores refuse to put anything new out makes me almost want to abandon the hobby out of sheer frustration

Get another hobby
Enjoy the toys you already have
Be patient

A lot of places don't charge you until the item is shipped though so I don't see what the big deal about throwing a pre order up and then just cancelling if you find it in person or change your mind.

>Get another hobby
Ive thought about it
>Enjoy the toys you already have
Ive been trying to do that more and it does hell
>Be patient
Waiting for things is excruciating for me. I have a very autistic perception of time where i feel like i perceive time slower then other people some days. That or im just a mentally ill faggot whos too hyperactive and therefore cant wait for shit

Alot of times ill forget about preorders too so that is always a hassle for me

You should ask yourself why you need all these toys. You dont have to answer me nor anyone else, but you need to know if that benefits you at all in the longest possible run. It almost sounds like you buy for the sake of buying, and only live for the hunt. But then youre just leaving behind what you have, thus making this whole collecting thing pointless. You should keep on playing with your current toys, and do what it takes to make them really earn their place there

I already said im keeping alot of toys that i already have, but alot of stuff i really just dont want anymore
>It almost sounds like you buy for the sake of buying, and only live for the hunt.
Yeah that tracks, i really do impulse buy alot to my detriment
>>But then youre just leaving behind what you have, thus making this whole collecting thing pointless.
Its early in the morning and i feel retarded in the mind but i dont fully understand that part, could you elaborate?

If you forget or don't keep track of what you have on order, that's on you bud.

You only buy toys for the sake retail therapy. Now that you have them, they''ve practically become a mass of "generic filler objects" in your room that serves no purpose, because the pursuit is something you crave instead. You can believe that isn't normal, but it IS relatable and something all of us on /toy/ still do everyday.

The cure or treatment is actually making time to play with your toys. Whoosh them around, imagine stories with them, arrange them on your shelves, and/or try all the poses they can do. By doing this you'll actually see and feel the value of what you bought. When you ultimately decide you have to get rid of them, think about ebay, goodwill, a Book Off if you have one, or extra off-site storage just for the sake of clearing out your room temporarily and see all the space you have all along. The reality is that you will buy toys again, but at least your mind will be clearer after all that.
