2026 Predictions Edition
Previous thread: >>11654943

What do you think we will be getting for the May & August waves next year?
I'll start:
>star destroyer microfighter with thrawn
>wolfpack gunship
>general grievous wheel bike remake
>kamino set with shaak ti
>play-scale millennium falcon with new lando fig
>buildable figures and midis nobody wants
>>
Aayla Secura anon, can you post her again?
>>
Bro there still was another perfectly fine thread up, hell you even linked to it in the OP lmao.
>>
>>11661253
Man that's depressing
>>
>>11661253
I know the other thread is still up but I just have to reply to this impossible lineup

>star destroyer microfighter with thrawn
I highly doubt we'll get Thrawn in a microfighter but this is the most possible prediction you've made
>wolfpack gunship
Don't expect to see another gunship in at least 4 years time
>general grievous wheel bike remake
won't happen
>kamino set
hahhahaah
>with shaak ti
roflcopter
>playscale falcon
inveitably but I highly doubt it in the following year or two
>buildable figures and midis nobody wants
this is actually the most believable prediction

Is it wishful thinking to get Ani, Obi, Zam with 2 sided face print, 2 speeders while additionally including the assassin courior droid and Jango?
>>

That’s the right move. Which is precisely why that won’t happen.

Rest of the sets, I hope we get good pics of all of them when they are up for pre-order in 3 days from now. They kinda remind me of early 2000s lego star wars sets, anyone else?

What frustrates me about all of this is that this is actually a genuinely great wave of OT sets. They include some of the very best elements of the Original Trilogy, almost like an ultimate Star Wars wave, and yet it’s all undermined by the high prices and the digital components. If these were normal sets marketed as more “CLASSIC,” in the spirit of the early 2000s sets, I’d be all over them. But the idea of owning a minifigure that I might have to throw away in 10 years because of battery leakage really bothers me. I genuinely think there are some excellent designs here.

At $60 I can see obi wan, ani, and zam but not Jango given he's already in the $60 slave I. I'm guessing the speeders will be scaled down like the rebuild the galaxy tie/xw-wing two pack. And the assassin droid will be brick built.
>>
>>11667568
There's not a chance we're getting Jango. The real /lsw/ question should be: when the fuck are we getting a new dooku?
>>
>>11667584
>new Dooku
I bet this year, better question is Grievous when?
>>
>>11667591
Grievous came out in a bunch of sets and not that long ago. Dooku is way overdue.

>this year
I doubt it. What sets would he even come in, do you think? I imagine we'd get a solar sailer down the line.
>>
>>11667597
Maybe Anakin's starfighter? It's a clone wars set after all. And he fought Dooku a lot in it, for some reason even if it contradicts the movies..
>>
>>11667604
It would be odd. I guess maybe if they gave dooku the speeder thingy. I imagine we'll get some new magna guards when we get dooku and then it will have to be separatist set. I'd kill for a CIS capital ship bridge interior set but I know that ain't happening.

AT-AT dissapoints me because I wish they did a smaller scale one like the gingerbread, but maybe they keep that idea alive for a 2027 smart play set since those are downsized anyway.
>>
>>11667615
Why would you want this?

>>
>>11667630

>>
>>11667633
Wanting a super out of scale vehicle that won't even look good as a midi display piece makes no sense. You just limit both playability and displayability.

>>
>>11667698

>>
>>11667680
>>11667701
The problem with the turbo tank is that the designers somehow made design mistakes for its stability, I dunno how that got away.
>>
>>11667028
I will eat my graphics card if the bounty hunter pursuit is real
>>
>>11667733
>It was just the stability
No it wasn't & you know it wasn't. The stability is just a footnote, and it wasn't even that bad, only if you picked it up one certain way did it fall apart. Not even clones that have been asked for for years was enough to sell it & CTT always sell. Even the price is usually a non-factor for CW & LSW fans, they'll buy it anyway. Downscaling is going too far & even the cattle are starting to realize this.

Smart Brick is unironically the best thing to happen to Lego Star Wars in at least a decade.

Seeing all the seething afools has brought me insurmountable joy. All retarded e-celebs crying about how it's not "displayable" and "muh heckin minifigs are ruined" (even though they never take apart their figs anyway and the back print won't be visible from their soulless fig display case). This is the exact kind of thing I've been pestering Lego for in all the feedback forms and surveys. You are finally allowed to play with your sets rather than have them collect dust and not have any fun ways to interact with them except a tacked on stud shooter.
Granted I still kind of expected more from the brick. For now all we've seen it do is make noise and flash annoyingly. I have Star Wars McDonalds toys from the 2000s that make noise whenever you swoosh them, the tech is hardly new or innovative. I don't see how this couldn't have been achieved with the sound bricks they already have. The dogfighting gimmick seemed fun at least, hopefully there's more to it than they show. Also it makes me wonder why they decided to stuff the entire smart brick kit with every set instead of selling it separately. Now if you buy the whole wave you'll get a bunch of extra chargers and bricks you don't need. And if you happen to want an extra smart brick for MOCs or to play with, well fuck you, buy an entire set.

The sets themselves are genuinely fine. The only headscratcher is the X-wing with its retarded cockpit placement. Everything else looks fine and would have been great sets even if they didn't have the smart brick. Side builds are cool and would make for fun scenarios to play out. I'm particularly excited for the Echo Base rumour, that seems like it'd be perfect for the new system - run missions in and out of the base while you get sound queues to what's happening.

This is a good thing for the brand. We might finally have a year of Lego Star Wars that isn't just 50% 18+ slop.

The sets look like shit. It is indefensible. I was actually quite interested in the TIE until I realized it is quite literally only half a build. I think it is perfectly fine for there to be sets and play elements meant for kids. The Death Star throne room duel looks like a good playset, but the prices are pretty exorbitant on all of these.

The Flash Speeder has aged the best.
The cut-off point for when Lego Star Wars lost it's soul was arguably around the 2010 mark, but undeniably after the 2012 disney takeover. There are still some nice sets a few years after 2012 but that was most likely before the disney rot fully set its poisonous root into Lego Star Wars.

That's some next level strawman.
>every playset I've bought this year was NOT the newest iteration because 99% of them are a downgrade
Yes, because they sacrifice playfeatures for detail and accuracy so collectorfags can display it on their wholesome reddit shelf. Smart brick sets are a return to form
>>
>>11668508
NTA but it's true. Adjust the price of any SW set from the past for inflation. Lego has always been expensive.

These are toys for kids (gen alpha). Lego needs gen alpha to buy sets or they will die.

The issue I have with them is the price. The sets are obviously designed for kids so what adult collectors think about them doesn't really matter, but that X-Wing is 100$. IIRC the X-Wing and TIE Fighter set they did was also 100$, and I think most kids and parents would rather buy the set with both an X-Wing and a TIE Fighter than a worse looking X-Wing at the same price, even if it makes sounds.
Electronic light and sound in toys is hardly a new thing, and it doesn't really seem like a gimmick worth that pricetag. If they just did reasonably-priced Star Wars playsets aimed at kids, I'd be all for it, but these feel like they should be half the price they're asking for them if it wasn't for the smart brick, so hardly reasonably priced.

Seems the smart bricks actually synthesizes the sounds on the go, so what you're hearing now is most likely the best you're going to get lmao.

No, the specific "adults welcome" thing by lego themselves was after failing to gain popularity with the new younger generation, and partially pissing off the old one with sequel shit.
It's basically lego beging the old now-adult fanbase to keep buying their products.
You see the slogan on display sets a lot but it stretches to everything because a while back (and still today) you get laughed at for being a grown-up man playing around with plastic blocks.

But these grown-ass men make up a large portion of what's actually making lego money and they are also the same ones that put up with the price-hikings.

TL;DR The marketing move was aimed at lego sets for all ages, not just the display sets.
>>
>>11667405
>>11667413
>should we create bricks with pre-loaded sounds?
>nah let's create 1 brick that creates all possible sounds itself except it sounds like total dogshit and costs 3-trillion to develop and produce
So instead of a human being making swoosh and pew pew sounds the super-duper smart brick that needs its dedicated smart minifig and smart tile with it's 1-watt speaker is going to do this?
As apposed to a human just opening his mouth?

This shit needs to be charged. The build needs to be compromised to accommodate the smart brick and tiles. The smart bricks further jack up the price.
All to replace human-made swooshes?

I feel like the lego group has gone completely insane.
>>
>>11668687

iirc the first time it was because lego thought the story got too far up its own ass and became impossible for new kids to get into it, the second time seemed more deliberate as they seemingly refused to promote the second year despite the first doing pretty well and then effectively cancelled the line before the summer wave of year 2
add on the rumours of disney having a hand in it to not have any competitors for their star wars buildable figures and you have endless seething 11(16) years and counting
i think there's also some jealousy since ninjago has been running non stop since 2011, which is the longest any in house theme with actual characters and a story(?)

You obviously never heard of the minifig-hasbro debacle.

There's a beautiful simplicity to classic sets

There is, but I think lego sw peaked with early Fleshies.

I had this set and heavily modified the speeder because I didn't like its flimsy build, I think.
It goes without saying that those tusken raiders were the first and best version without question.

This was the very first Lego set I ever ordered from the Lego catalog. I still have the minifigures together but I definitely used the bike and antenna thing for other builds.

Mega bloks fucking WON

> those tusken raiders were the first and best version
Absolutely. Bizarre choice to give them custom molded heads later because there was nothing about their heads that were abnormal in the first place.

I have several of them. What makes you want to get a classic Jabba?

I liked the Epsiode 3 era but Pre Episode 3 Star Wars was undoubtedly my favorite time for lego Star Wars

I'm the anon with the 2006 Sail Barge, I want to slowly try and fully restore it.
I am missing all the minifigs and a lot of the interior was stripped by my brat-self.

it was pretty neat, a few years ago i scavenged it back together but i have no idea where i put the vapourator
probably in the some storage bin somewhere

honestly the pre rots era of lego is pretty similar to the post rots era until about 2008, and the minifigs were still essentially the same outside of the tcw sets until 2010ish
the 2009 echo base set still uses the original han face and smilies for the basic rebels, just in flesh instead of yellow

They were similar I just have a special place in my heart for the attack of the clones sets and the OT sets of that era.
