As the title suggests, what are some toys that hold up really well in spite of being quite old?
I'd say a lot older Figmas are still quite good even by today's standards. In particular I'd single out the Madoka Magica Figmas- they capture the characters extremely well and for the most part are really fun, poseable expressive toys.

The goat... well mammoth, but whatever.

The only real flaw on old figmas are the hand pegs, they often fail to adequately support their accessories, and they can break easily obviously due to their size. Otherwise they pretty much had as much articulation as you can get out of a figure without breaking the sculpt up with double joints and ugly cuts, something people have been complaining about on new figmas.
>>
>>11663256
none of mine have any issues at all including the first figma ever released

Figma Charming Drossel is still one of the best robot girls ever made.
Also Transformers toys around the time of the second movie were insanely good. Intricate Transformations, great sculpts, good plastic quality, action features that didn't get in the way, the parts that should have been painted usually were. Just great stuff all around.
>>
>>11663275
okay? that doesn't change the issues
>>
Yeah I don't think the Lucky Star Figmas would be any better if they did them today. Maybe modern wrist joints, but they would probably phase out the more unique hand sculpts too.
>>
>>11663331
The LS figmas are kind of gigantic and easily scuffed, I would love to see them done in a more modern way. I’m sure they’d still have unique hands though, most figmas that have distinctive hands or gloves have unique hands.
>>

>The LS figmas are kind of gigantic
Oh, really? That's interesting, I always assumed they were tiny. Any size comps?

I have never had this issue with any of mine, and I actually prefer their larger size.

Yup, my first figma ever got fucked up right away due to those retarded pegs.

Why does the new mold not really look better in any particular way? In fact the mammoth mode looks decidedly worse.

And this why im passing this version. Id rather have nova prime or something that isnt a pale reflection of the original.

Kirino is a great old figma, sturdy joints, the skirt allows to do whatever pose, has a pretty generic neck joint so it can swap heads easily and the body works for a lot of other figmas too, good scale, her bag can actually carry things

Sorry, no lighting and potato phone quality but this might help to see the scae. The actual proportions are correct for the show which makes the scale a little difficult to estimate but the LS Figma are definitely bigger and heftier than you’d think.
(I also had to put tak on Meduka and Homo’s feet because I don’t trust them not to escape)
>>
>>11664932
Interesting! She does look weirdly oversized, though that being said ironically enough I think she's as close to 1:12 as possible given the funky proportions. IIRC she's canonically 142cm (I have yet to watch Lucky Star so could be wrong there) and at 1:12 that lands her a hair short of 12cm, which that looks to be, unless my ability to estimate relative height is failing me (not counting ahoge). I think the giant head and puffy sleeves are throwing her off a bit. That said I almost feel like she'd benefit from being slightly undersized and having a still large but less XBOX HUEG head.

Came in here to post about specifically late-2000s Transformers. They feel ridiculously good in-hand. Shame your picrel is so pricy, I'd love to have one.

Hand pegs are absolute shit on old-gen figmas. I'm glad GSC made the switch to the new-gen separate wrist joints which add a whole new axis of hand-articulation...

...which has the unfortunate side effect of giving me the irrational urge to slap every goddamn Hasbro/Four Horsemen/ Westerner toytech company who thinks a figma 2.0-style hand with pegs is STILL acceptable in the second decade of the 2000s. AND those Revoltechs that didn't make the switch which are OTHERWISE decent. Somehow the bootleg Raiden beats the original in THAT department! (while sucking at everything else, granted.)

As for a figure I'd say that's still aged well, try the 12-year old Mega Man Zero Figuarts from 2014.
It's WAY better than the crappy E-Model kit and any X-styled Zero figures.
>>
>>11667610
Hasbro has switched to ball jointed wrists now which are nice. While I appreciate the articulation you get with these wrists that most imports have, the tolerances are always bad and it's a pain to put on and remove hands. So many Reddit posts of people trying to pull the hand off and breaking the joint. I think it's more bad design than ham handing. I always heat up the hands but I really shouldn’t have to

>>11667333
>>11663295
Good point about TFs. Hunt for the Decepticons era after ROTF was really good. Maybe some were a little too complicated and not very fun to transform. I think they overcorrected in the years after and made things too simple. Feel like engineering/complexity is at an okay balance now but it's a shame they seem to have completely sacrificed alt mode aesthetics for bot modes. And no one really seems to care I guess most people prefer bots but for me it was always about the cars

New LoK figures would be awesome, but there's only like 20 people that would care to buy them.

These are recently bought but the toys themselves are old-ish, 8-9 years maybe.
I love Tracer's face and the overal colors. Also the box saying McCree's name instead of the retconn is refreshing.

They're not that old.

And i hope you paid like $10 for them. The entire line was clearanced off for $5 each and those white variants had to be clearanced off the clearance prices because no one wanted them.

Fuck, I need to get Cattleya
>>
The three lines of Hellboy toys (Comic, HB, HB2: The Golden Army) all had great figures but the comic line in particular has high marks in being super solid figures with some decent articulation and a ton of cool accessories. And all at an affordable price compared to a NECA toy from the same era.

The only reason to get the Boss Fight Hellboy toys coming this year is because you missed out in 2009.
>>
>>11667664
Mine broke at the bicep swivel and I fixed it with a paper clip and a drill. Broke my fucking heart, it just broke with no effort.
>>
>>11668162
Oh, didn't know they were this new. Still 6-7 years though.
And ofc the other chars didn't sell but I doubt Tracer or other females were unwanted since coomers would surely buy them. Payed like 24$ for the couple.
>>
>>11669216
Saw a few of them pretty cheap preowned on amiami. Pretty wild they come with piss puddles and stained panties. Think out of all of them I would prefer Cattleya which was of course one they didn't have.
>>
>>11668053
The knees, too. The NECA one was at least sturdier. Idk what happened to pic related, I would have bought two.
