Is forward crunch the hardest point of articulation to pull off properly?
>>11666107Why is it so hard? And why do figures always have so much more unrealistic backward range instead?

>>11666107Venom stance in mvc is the granddaddy of em all
>>11666107Not a problem for Figure Of The Year
>>11666147That's using the hip joint not the ab crunch
>>11666147>support
>>11666149Nope, this is using hip joints, the other its just the torso
>>11666147You've misunderstood the assignment.
>>11666107Based Hasbro coming through with some good Ab crunch and gummy legs.
>>11666155>>11666156Yes, but if the figure is capable without a stand, then I think it should count.
>>11666111>Why is it so hard?Probably due to sculpt and joints being designed to bend backwards instead>And why do figures always have so much more unrealistic backward range instead?Flight and dashing forward poses, I assume.
>>11666107An ab crunch is pointless if the head can't tilt a complete 90 upward
>>11666107Forward isn't so hard, the sideways torso articulation is what's always lacking. Out of those figs only the Ikea mannequin can do it.
>>11666149Try to use your ab crunch without using your hips.
>>11666298Right there >>11666107 in the OP, which is what this thread is about.
>>11666147>>11666155Literally the same thing and using hips in both. Glorp actually gets a toy for the first time and shills it endlessly
>>11666164I only stumbled in here by accident so I didn't bother to read all posts but she can do that too. She probably could go deeper even but here's a quick pic
>>11667107Genuinely curious. Anon please stand figure straight up and then bend at chest only, not waist or hips. That is the poa this thread is discussing.
>>11667107Forget whatever that other guy said and show her ass!
>>11667116n-no...
>>11667116like that?
>>11666107>It's over
>>11667133Thats pretty deep damn
>>11667133>On closer inspection, these are loafers.
>>11666107I'm also cheating as I'm using the hip joint but eh, I like Yamaguchi's crazy articulation.
>>11667107>>11667133So she really is as good as everyone says
>>11666111Because you're trying to mimic an entire spine with one or two joints. It's not like an elbow or knee where it largely bends in one direction. That and you then have to hide the cuts in a neutral pose too, which means you have to have enough material to cover but still not hinder the spine. You almost need more joints but implementing that while looking good is hard. Especially when people have different clothes. Double ball joints and soft torso and abdomen might work out good.
WIP, but here’s a custom attempt at adding an ab crunch to a figure design that originally lacked one.

>>11667138Underrated post
>>11667133Think I'll order one afterall. Figure is too peak to miss out on
>>11666107Yeah, across various toylines I've also noticed this.I think it's mostly a stability issue, like in the case of toys with metal frames. There's also figures that transform which often have to compromise the whole torso like Macross' variable fighters. Though the newer designs have transformations that have begun to work around this limitation.
Jada's SF figures (or the two I own) have pretty good forward crunch.
>>11668957FWIW Chun-Li here isn't using her hips, the floating skirt-piece is being pushed over like that by the abs.
>>11668957>>11668958Perfection!
Am I doing it right?
