Why isn't Playmobil more popular?
>>11669710Fuck off Retrospammer
>>11669710I think it is quote popular though anon. But it lacks the build dimension of lego and is less portable.
>>11669710Because it eats as much ass as your mom does behind the grocery store.
>>11669710I think this >>11669795It is just more popular with kidd. Like a toy should be.And it is much more pretend to play plus dollhouse.Thats the reason why Imaginext and othe Fisher Price figures are great but have a small fandom. Its there, is great, but it is limited to the kids group. The ones that play with them.
>>11671535The fuck do you care if an anon buys Playmobile? You know where you are, right?
>>11671535I buy them to play with with my literal babies
>>11671594Thanks for proving my point. >>11671636Acceptable. Because, you should have some self respect>>11671672
>>11671594Thanks for proving my point. >>11671636Because, you should have some self respect>>11671672acceptable
>>11671701>you should have some self respectThis is terrible bait.
>>11671307Maybe your mom eats ass behind the convenience stores, anon but most mothers do it in the pool house or at the country club.
>>11669710My biggest issue with Playmobil, and this is a problem I've had since I was a kid, is because the figures themselves kind of suck. They're less articulated then Lego people and can't even be popped and swapped about. Their playsets and vehicles are fantastic, but without good figures to interact with them, you can't really have fun playing with them. Last year I went hard in collecting a line called Gashapon Quest, a bunch of 3"ish articulated buildable fantasy figures that come from capsule machines. I enjoyed them so much I started looking for similarly sized figures and accessories to go with them. I found myself some similarly sized Goblins and Orcs, Re-ment has a lot of closely scaled accessories, Schleich's Eldrador line has tons of cool monsters that can work with the line. But I also found Playmobil's stuff scaled *perfectly* with these guys. So far I have pic related for my villains to sail about and I managed to track down most of a used Castle set to be the Adventurers main hub. I also plan on grabbing a second pirate ship for a similar line called Link Travelers that made a wave of pirate and sailor figures, and might even grab an evil tower or something if space allows it. But despite the sets and vehicles being so nice and working so well, sadly I just bin the figures and their gear because they're just not fun to play with. If Playmobil had better figures, I feel the entire line would be far more popular with both kids and collectors. >>11671672My kid loves playing with the giant castle I got. It's currently sitting on my kitchen table since i lack space in my toy room for it right now, and she spent all afternoon with some little princess figures who scale really well with it just having adventures. But even she didn't want to use the actual figures who came with the castle. Except the skeleton, she liked playing with that one.
>>11673365Where did you pick up your Gashapon Quest stuff? I had a lot of interest and assumed they'd come to amiami eventually but I never saw them
>>11673635I got the lion share of em from a site called Suruga-ya.com. They have a really decent selection and some of the rarer figures will pop up from time to time and tolerable prices. They also do free shipping weeks fairly often so you can wishlist a bunch of items then wait for one of their free weeks to ship everything cheap. You can also buy parts and set piecemeal so you can customize figures a bit easier then having to track down a whole collection. Though some of the rarer items can get pretty pricey, especially the figures themselves. Some of the figures from the "Character Selection" wave can be just as pricey as an entire set of figures. I thought they were going to continue the line, as I saw some "generic soldier" figures teased at one point. But they could also very easily be future Link Travelers stuff as the gimmick of that line is characters from across time and space interacting with each other or something. But unless something new drops, I'm pretty much done with the Gash Quest stuff.
>>11674214Just an update on this for all of the no people who actually read this, the "Free Shipping" ended up costing me $30 due to duties and taxes. Sure glad those tariffs and de minimis changes happened.
>>11677439Why don't you just buy domestic? >_>
I offen wonder what kinda crap Asian people import from America.
>>11677439Another note on the "free shipping": they have a .jp site and a .com/international one. The latter pretty much has baked in higher prices compared to the domestic site to make up for the free shipping they offer so regularly.Anybody who's worked with forwarders and proxies should do the math and see if it's better to go through those. This may end up being cheaper, but doesn't have to be.If the forwarder undervalues, that'd save you some of those taxes and duties, too, but obviously not everything.
>>11677907Find me a shop that sells Japanese only Gashapon items individually and I will. >>11677948Last year when I used their site, the free shipping was absolutely worth it. I was buying items worth $1-3 a pop and my total order could be as low as $20-30 bucks, so even if their price per item was "higher" I didn't mind. Throw in the fact that this site is the *only* site I found that had a deep and frequently updating stock of the items I was looking for, and was selling them at non-absurd prices (for the most part, ebay prices for these things was three times higher) and it was very much worth buying from them. I'm glad I got everything I wanted back before the changes, because it wouldn't be worth making those small orders now. ....err, but yea, Playmobil. I managed to decorate that Castle I bought! Re-ment's stuff works really well with Playmobil's scale and has much nicer details then Playmobil's accessories. The Castle itself is still missing some key pieces that kind of bug me, but it's complete enough for me to play with and I'm not sure if it's worth investing more money into just to get those last two or three items I really want. Maybe I'll try and grab some pics when the kid goes to bed, can't get anywhere near it while she's awake because as soon as i start to play with it she wants to play with it too lol.
>>11678478Did you buy her a castle?
>>11678482Oh Anon, she owns many castles. Has a whole damn city worth of buildings at this point.
>>11682142kino
>>11682142Based castle enjoyer.
>>11682298Only the middle one is mine, the others are my kid's, but I do have a decent collection stored away in my basement. I grew up with Pic Related, long before the 90s version everyone raves about was a thing. The original 70's FP castle was *freaking solid*m it was heavy even for an adult and it's play features were much better implemented. I do have a busted up 90s castle I need to clean up before I give to my kid though, but I lost the original during a move many years back. Sadly the hardest part about collecting Castles is finding worthwhile figures to go with them. They were always too small for Joes and other 3 3/4" figures, but too large for Lego stuff. But after discovering Gashapon Quest, I found they were the perfect figures for Playmobil and similarly sized Castles. After some research I picked that specific castle because it didn't need the outerwalls (which took up too much space) to feel complete. It works well as a small fort or keep on a hill and has enough space to make for a semi-convincing guild hall. It's less a protected fortress for a king and more of a hub for various adventuring parties to gather, feast and gear up before their next journey. Throw in some Re-Ment accessories as decorations, and the whole thing comes together really well. I still need to find some furniture to fill up some of the rooms under the castle. Mainly I want a smith/item shop under the bridge in the front (there's a big empty room right under the main gate) and I would like to find some tables for an alchemist lab under the main pub. I got a lot of potions and magical items from a Re-ment magic shop set, I just don't have enough shelves and tables to display everything on. I also plan to try and find a castle for the evil Lich Lord that antagonizes my intrepid adventurers. A place where the Orcs and Goblins and other creatures of the dark lord can gather themselves in their own little evil adventuring hall.

>>11671636>>11671699>>11671706Of course it's terrible bait. The Internet is full of bored, stupid casuals - most of whom are just here to shit post and have no interest in real conversations or adding or getting anything of value.
