How do you buy rare toys off of social media and not get scammed?

>>11670521There are some pieces of merchandise that are so rare they are not found via traditional avenues, e.g. ebay. You have to go and ask around on social media or forums for the item you want to buy and wait until someone shows up who is willing to take up your offer. Right now I'm looking for a dvd and book that is unlikely to show up on ebay anytime soon so I have to interact with people in the fandom I am a member of to buy what I want.
