Remember that billy and mandy episode where billy was infatuated with a power rangers/dinosaucers combination parody and everyone called him a geeky faggot child for liking toys still? That episode hit really close to home hence why it was so fucking funny to mehttps://youtu.be/4sMS6ECEPhg
>>11671478Bump in the Night. It had monsters as protagonists but raggedy Ann and the episode where she goes insane and builds a new body stayed in my memory forever because of how much it scared the shit out of me. There were a few other toys too like a Japanese robot toy.Reboot was my absolute favourite cartoon and still might be. They bad a Toy Story parody with Wacky Races and a bunch of other shit. The Velveteen Rabbit was my favourite storybook as a kid. I'm still very sentimental and nostalgic about it.Then there's a bunch of obvious shit like Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story 1 and 2, Indian in the Cupboard, Small Soldiers and The Lego Movie 1. Small Soldiers actually has a manga adaptation though. Someone uploaded all of it here:https://smallsoldiers.fandom.com/wiki/Small_Soldiers_Manga
>>11671484Velveteen rabbit made me so depressed when all the other toys got burned in it when i was told that story in class as a kid and honestly it still disturbs me. That was arbuably one of the most traumatic moments of my childhood was hearing that part of the story. I didnt know small soldiers had a manga, thats cool
>>11671484>Small Soldiers Manga>Drawn by the same artist as the Zoids MangaWhat an oddly specific collection of my interests
>>11671484The ragdoll in bump in the night has the sexual energy as ragatha from the amazing digital circus
This is a brilliant thread. I'm especially surprised by how many of my favorites overlap with OP's. I've wanted an action figure of Tex for nearly as long as I've wanted one of the Crimson Chin or Reptar. MLAATR and Robotboy had their share of toy episodes too. Both even took a whack at the "evil toyline" plot. In writing this I've also remembered the Dexter's Lab episode where he manages to get that elusive Major Liberty action figure.>>11671484>The Velveteen RabbitMan did I read the shit out of that as a kid. What's worse was stumbling onto a similar story some years later, confusing it for the same title, and then being haunted by that story into adulthood. If you really want to endure feelsmaggeddon, go give Edward Tulane a read. It's essentially a much much more depressing take on the same general idea. Also thank you for bringing the Small Soldiers manga to my attention. It looks utterly astonishing. The only way I can return the favor is by recommending Plares Sanshiro. It's one of those no forgotten early 80's kids anime but I've always thought the premise was so badass.
Not exactly related but Im fascinated by that string of unofficial SK animated films that were made to sell bootleg toys. Phoenix bot Phoenix King was the first time I saw anything like it and then I just delved deeper down the rabbit hole from there. The other interesting one is probably the TMNT movie, "Our Friend Diatron 5". I might have the title a little wrong there but it was an all live action film with turtle suits based off the playmates figures! The villains were all modelled after Splinter aswell. Really wild trip of a movie.
Seriously, give this a watch. The crusty thumbnail does it no justice. I wish we could see crazy shit like this nowadays.

>>11671560The hero from dexters lab was named major glory. Also the MLAATR episode with the jenny dolls was peak too. I always wanted one as a kid and was very depressed the show got no merch at the timehttps://youtu.be/NDa2Qz-F3ac
>>11671565These are all on TubiTV herein Canada for some reason.
>>11671494>>11671560Ok, you guys have solved a childhood mystery. I could remember a story from when I was young where the kid gets some sort of super contagious illness and all of their toys are burned to prevent it spreading. In my searching I only found The Secret Garden, but in that it was her parents that die from cholera, so her toys are burned, and the toy burning happens near the start of the story so it didn't match up with my memory. Also I was sure it was a boy in the story. It was The Velveteen Rabbit. Thank you.
>>11671597My mistake, details like that always escape me whenever I write this stuff out. I find it endearing how of the time both episodes were, both going as far to homage the Ipod hype of the day. Shame neither show got the merchandising they deserved.
>>11671598I dont think they're exclusive to Canadian Tubi. You can see them down here stateside too. Apparently the bulk of these are uncopyrighted, so Tubi can just redistribute them for free. I really wish they could get dubs. I'd even settle for AI dubs at this point. There are a few batman ones and a wonder woman one I'd love to be able to watch in english.
>>11671605>I could remember a story from when I was young where the kid gets some sort of super contagious illness and all of their toys are burned to prevent it spreading. That was the part that disturbed me and made me cry as a kid when they read it in school. I have a phobia of abandoning toys now because of it too
>>11671605I'm glad to have helped. I can see how they'ed all end up confused. Lots of overlap in setting, themes, and characters.
>>11671612Are you me?
>>11671484>Small Soldiers has a manga adaptationThe things you learn everyday
>>11671614>are you me? Probably not but its cathartic to know others felt the same way about that book. I really hate it ngl, that and this book about a cookie noir detective that featured baby cookies getting eaten and scary stories to tell in the dark really fucked me up when we read them in class at school. I was a wimpy child but goddamn
>>11671478
I remember the only Berenstain Bears book ("Berenstain Bears And The Bad Dream") that ever stuck with me had these toys in it. Thought they were cool.
What a great thread. than's anons. Lots of good discussion and memories here. It even made me read Velvetian Rabbit (i just read it onlinebut there wasnt any toy burning...the ending is happy after boys gets sick and they take rabbit from him. Maybe it's a modern version?)I see no mention of Toy Story probably because anons think it's aon obvious choice/overrated.Toy Story was everything for me in 90s.This movie alone probably re-wired my brain in terms of worldview. In the second movie there is an amazing dialogue about "you know you are not moving but you feel like you are alive because that's how your sees you".This disalogue and scene blew my mind back then and change my whole view on toys. From that moment i started to see toys as come sort of connection.Like...when i hold my transformer in spaceship mode and swoosh it around - i imagine how im flyingthrough space and part of my brain thinks it's really happening and my toys knows that too. It's such an important part of kids soul many people losing through their process of growing up and i will defend it till i die. This is one of reasons why playing/having toys makes me so happy and always rises up my energy.Sometimes you just HAVE to play with your toys, anons!
>>11672183Because of Toy Story, one of my favorite things about being a toy enthusiast is daydreaming about how my toys would sneak around and get back home while I'm traveling or doing errands
>>11672183>you know you are not moving but you feel like you are alive because that's how your kid sees youDamn sorry anons why whole text has lots of mistakes and typos. im a eu-anon and i'm tired after a long day and night of job.But you get the idea.PS:Toy Story is such a perfect bromance movie too.
>>11672190I always loved imagining my toys running along the side of the road on fences and rails or roofs of buildings during long car rides or bus rides.
>>11671478Power Players existed at the wrong damn time. It was right before the pandemic, and had the perfect JUST toy company making their toys. I only saw two episodes and it's just boring europe filler, but all the toys in it looked great.
One day I'll get my IRL Transitronhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_VF42CvH1w>>11671567>>11671569Translated, too:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsXt_bU5Vac
Ruined action figures forever. Why don't mine fly and shoot lasers and have kung-fu grip?
>>11672183you'll love this then, toy story aped a lot from ithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3Yl85m1nfA
>>11672410The bad guys were the best part. Alot of 2020's shows from then died on release sadly. Super Dinosaur and Megman come to mind.
>>11672627Based, thanks man. I love the costumes in the movie. The plot is so batshit too I wish they'ed reference it.
>>11672072Reminded me of this arthur book I read as a kid. I spent hours staring at that yellow robot.
>>11672662I do honestly wonder how many features you can include in an action figure before the confines of space get in the way.
>>11671478Probably not something that Americans will have seen, but there was an Australian show called Johnson and Friends that had quite a unique gimmick. They had people dressed up in suits in a gigantic replica bedroom set. I can still remember the theme song.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJy5Y36HB-s
>>11672183>I see no mention of Toy Story probably because anons think it's aon obvious choice/overrated.Don't worry, anon. That was a good post and you don't have to qualify it with the fact that Toy Story is an unoriginal thing to bring up since the movie played a huge role in shaping people's love and appreciation for their toys that remains with them their whole lives. Thank you for this much need reminder to treasure them.>>>11672190>>11672391Based and wholesome. I imagine my toys hiding from and outsmarting burglars, Home Alone style.
>>11672742>>11673218whoa these are awesome!I will watch Muppet special later when eating a dinner but i enjoyed a lot the first episode of Johnson and Friends at 5am morning.what a great start of a working day (im saying that unironically and im 40)
