>The first LEGO® SMART Play™ sets will be on shelf from 1st March 2026 in our seven launch markets: US, UK, France, Israel, Germany, Poland and Australia.

>It wasn’t launched globally, as LEGO® SMART Play™ is a major transformative company-wide initiative that spans our entire value chain, from R&D to manufacturing and retail. Owing to the complexities of launching this innovative new platform we’ve phased launch to ensure the best customer experience we can.

>While we can’t share more information right now on further market availability, our teams are working really hard to get LEGO® SMART Play ™ to fans and builders across the world. Please stay tuned and we’ll share more information as soon as we can.

SMART BRICK HAS A BUILT IN MICROPHONE!!!!!

>MIC DROP – Includes a deactivated, built-in microphone for potential future play features; activation will require both your permission and a firmware update.

>The permission to use the microphone seems likely to be given via the SMART ASSIST app, also detailed in the description, but this has not been confirmed. Despite being advertised as screen-free, SMART Play will come with an app to ‘unlock more from the SMART Play system’, including troubleshooting, controlling sound levels and downloading updates. Here’s the exact text from the product descriptions:

>LEGO SMART ASSIST APP – Help children unlock more from the SMART Play system with the SMART Assist App; get started, troubleshoot, control sound levels and download updates for enhanced play.

Why? Thats so retarded
>>
>>11671649
Possibly because series 28 is easter themed and want it to still be in production when Easter is happening. Usually if the next series was released in May then previous series production would be over by then. So they gave this series 1 month advance. Atleast that's my theory.

Also, series 29 seems to be a classic themes throwback as we get minifigs like Tahu and Lloyd.

Keep asking. Unironically. Castle is the best selling CMF figure of each series. The overpriced overdesigned sets sell well every time. Eventually new leadership will show up. looks like the minifigs are done already, thanks, Fortnite!

it's amazing how much design work is "done!" by Fortnite. there must be hundreds of characters Lego could just copy right out of the designs in that game.

what an epic brilliant move by the Lego company. they "let" Fornite "do" Lego versions of characters and Fortnite might even have to PAY Lego money to do it (?) and now Lego gets all that amazing art work pre-done for them. wow.

as far as KDH goes, I'm more curious how expensive the set will be. they need 3 KDH, 5 Saja Boys, the manager guy, molded cat thing and crow. that's a lot. you think they'd try and make it more consumer-friendly at around $100-$120, or MAX MILKING for like $400? I expect like a big stage area to simply display characters. obviously they will be in the "Golden" outfits

Lego invested $1 billion in Epic Games (Fortnite owners) so I guess it makes sense, also every design in Lego Fortnite is made in collaboration with a team of Lego designers.

I thought the non-animal costumes were okay. they've done plenty of food ones. they remind me of the Timberlake SNL skits where he'd be dressed as a mascot selling something, sing a pop song with funny lyrics about the thing he's selling, ending each one with something like

"bring it on down to Popcornville!"

So um, I guess my point was that even though they might not have animals, they might still do costumes. maybe another dinosaur?

I always thought a funny idea in that short lived "Lego City Adventures" would have been if the costumes actually ended up representing competing political parties. Food Party vs Animal Party. The food candidates always talk about hard work while the animal candidates just talked about how cool their chosen animal is. Maybe there can be other parties as well? Like edible animals become their own party. Just saying I that I don't want food and animal to represent actual political parties, just generic stuff to parody politics.

I don't think that Smart Play or the Smart Brick is a smart idea. At the announcement they showed a video referencing the stud & tube invention from 1958, and market this as the next big thing for LEGO, but it really isn't.

Think about it. What happens when the batteries in these Smart Brick fail? And they will fail evetually. These Smart Bricks will become e-waste since you can't just open them yourself. Compared to the Super Mario LCD figure which uses non rechargable battaries, the Smart Brick will be produced in a waaay larger quantity. They won't last 20 years. Hell not even 10. Meanwhile you still can play with LEGO bricks bought 50 years ago.

Whoever came up with this is a massive retard and doesn't understand LEGO. It goes against the values Godtfred Kirk Christiansen came up with when developing the original system.

It reminds me of a movie I saw ages ago called "In Good Company." A tech billionaire buys up some medium sized sports magazine and starts making all kinds of changes. I just remember near the end he starts talking about how the magazine will now be doing articles on tech development and feature celebrity interviews. I know it's not exactly the same, it feels the same. A company shifting gears drastically as if someone is suddenly in charge of something that they have no idea what it is.

They've just taken a lot of big parts that they used to have like the bigass baseplates for space/castle, big ship hull parts, and things like BURPs and LURPs, and they just turn those into hundreds of 1x1s, 1x2s, and cheese slopes, so now you can turn those single big pieces into hundreds of tiny pieces, so it is more perceived value.

Take a look at old space bases and pirate ships that were in the $80-$100 range and they were like 300-400 pieces, and those similar sets these days are like 1000 pieces because they broke the huge specialized pieces down into smaller ones. It does make a more involved building experience, but they try to pass it off as being way more value because you're getting more parts, but only some people seem to know better.

Fun fact: Nexo Knights took seven years to make (2009–2016), Dreamzzz took five years (2018–2023), and Super Mario took four years (2016–2020). Meanwhile, Ninjago only took about a year to develop—from late 2009 (around November) until its launch in January 2011. Bionicle started development in late 1999 or early 2000 and released in 2001. >>11672494
The show resonated with kids

That's the secret. The other lego shows are awful. Minus Monkie Kid but that one wasn't seen by kids outside Asia. B-but it released on streaming! Yeah and kids don't watch shows on streaming and neither on youtube. Cable TV truly was the place to make hits for both toy lines and shows for kids.

Tldr; the show was good and kids liked it so they wanted the sets

Biggest things going against the smart brick is
>the size of the fucking thing
>all current sets with it are adult priced
>all current set with it are geared more towards children then adults
Is it gonna sale, sure.
But is it gonna sale to the targeted audience in the amount they want it to, doubtful.
In the current financial shitstorm just how many parents are happy to plop $70 - $160 on a novelty lego set and the kids are gonna lose the smart brick(s) within a few weeks

Another more personal nitpick is how they're butchering any minifigs that's compatible with it.
Darth Vader looks like he's been tagged with crop circles and making the astromech body now able to 360 spin the head but now have a big ass square tile on its back is one step forward one step back

I think Technic building is one of skill. Idiots are saying following instructions is easy. No, it's not.
Assembling thousands of steps without mistakes requires insane amount of practice and concentration.

For me, it was impossible to prevent inserting parts in the wrong orientation or inserting the wrong part. No matter how many sets I assembled,

I reassembled the rear parts and connected them to the main frame. it was insanely frustrating
>>
>>11672661
Lego instructions are incredibly clear for all aspects except color matching….

Just have to look at the schematics and periodically confirm that they match what you’re assembling. They really are easy to follow if you have some fundamental skills. Lack of concentration, care, or ability to visualize from the user are not arguments against the instructions. Those skills might not be inherent, but modern Lego instructions go out of their way to show which parts apply in a step and go out of their way to show how things get oriented.

I am not sure how they could make instructions that counteract a lack of concentration. It is like saying a you couldn’t follow the story from a good book because you couldn’t concentrate - again, the problem is not the book but the user.

Mad Magazine we meet again.

The year was 1968. We were on recon in a steaming Mekong delta. An overheated private removed his flak jacket, revealing a T-shirt with an iron-on sporting the Mad slogan "up with miniskirts." Well, we all had a good laugh, even though I didn't quite understand it. But our momentary lapse of concentration allowed Charlie to get the drop on us. I spent the next three years in a P.O.W. camp, forced to subsist on a thin stew made of fish, vegetables prawns, coconut milk and four kinds of rice. Yes sarcasm very cool. There’s an element of luck and timing obviously. And it helps that both ninja turtles and power rangers fell out of popularity so there was a gap.
>you just gotta make a thing that is already being made by someone else
No you have to fill a gap. Waiting until power rangers and ninja turtles are irrelevant to children is a big reason it succeeded. Star Wars already exists there is no gap in the market.
>>
>>11672837
LEGO didn’t really wait for Power Rangers and TMNT to stop being popular. When I said they aren’t popular now, I meant now. Back when Ninjago released in 2011, TMNT had returned to a short-lived Turtle mania with the CGI show, roughly from 2012 to 2016. Meanwhile, Power Rangers also experienced a resurgence around that time with Samurai and Dino Charge. By the time the movie came out, the momentum was already gone.

Ninjago’s advantage was that kids wanted it to continue, so it ended up outliving those two IPs.

I wouldn’t say Ninjago is anywhere close to those series at their peak anyway. It really depends on when the live-action movie comes out and whether that sparks more interest in Ninjago.

I actually wasn't being sarcastic. it sounds silly but I never associated the colors thing with Turtles and Power Rangers, and Ninjago also did the colors thing. and they all do martial arts. at a glance they seem very different but then you remember PW intro literally says "assemble a team of teenagers with attitude" and all those IPs totally do have teenagers with attitude!

>kids wanted it to continue
Yes. It also had the Netflix advantage. When Ninjago was on the rise, it was right there with Netflix on the rise. You could probably watch the others on Netflix at that time but again. Luck. Have the right product at the right time with the right resources and the right executive in charge. The product has to be good in the eyes of children but it also has to be lucky.

>Disney really messed-up Star Wars good, I think the market is ripe for somebody to sweep in with a great story and take over
I was working on a Battlestar Galactica trilogy for Universal, based on the original ’78 series. By “working,” I mean I was doing conceptual artwork, I did my job on the project. I don’t know the current status of it, but it looked cool: Cylons and some great alien races. They had a bible for the films in which there were a total of eight distinct alien species in the universe fighting the Cylons, and the humans were leading these aliens to form an alliance. Very cool stuff and different. I’m sure LEGO would make sets based on it if it ever gets the greenlight.

> Disney really messed-up Star Wars good
Some advice I like to throw out there in case anyone ever makes a highly successful IP like Star Wars or LOTR:
Never sell your IP. Once you’re done with it, make it Public Domain. Megacorporations like Amazon and Disney only care about IPs if they own them so no one else can have them. Sure you’ll get fanfic but everyone will accept it as fanfic. And if you ever want to come back to it like Lucas has hinted he does. You can. There’s no conflict. People will respect your work as the creator and someone with good ideas in the future can make successful fanfic. Think of it like Lovecraft. Everyone knows the original works of Lovecraft are the original but anyone can make and market a movie/book/game about Cthulhu. Everyone wins and the megacorporation ignores it in favor of beating the dead corpse of Star Wars for the next 50 years until that is public domain.
>>
>>11672875
>Never sell your IP.
easy to say until you see the check
>>
>>11672872
Didn’t realize it was that late. Was that around the time it was going to be cancelled? Do you think the surge of Netflix views saved it?
>>
>>11672782
Who is a good jang replacement tuber?
>>
>>11672879
True. But Lucas was already a Billionaire. He was retarded. if you really care about your IP like in the way Tolkien did? Don’t leave it to your Christopher Tolkien equivalent so he can sell to Amazon right before he dies and then spends his last days depressed. Make it public domain. If it’s already hyper successful and you’re already super rich there is no reason to whore out something you love too.
>>
>>11672882
No no no, Ninjago was always planned to end in 2013. News that it would end in 2013 had been known since 2012. That’s why, when the show ended, there was high fan demand and strong sales—kids even wrote letters to LEGO asking them not to cancel it. At the time, it aired on Cartoon Network, which was the home of Ninjago.

This is also why the Ninjago Rebooted came so soon in 2014. LEGO changed their plans to end the series in 2013 by late 2012, so they started working on the next season. As was common back then and still is today, even though they say the story is stronger now—for Ninjago and many other themes, LEGO designs the sets first, and the media is created afterward. There are always differences between them, though, which makes it hard to say whether those claims are entirely true.

TL;DR: Netflix had nothing to do with Ninjago continuing.

The concept of a dragon baby developing into a full-on set for the the 3 years dragons rising has been releasing sets is so neat and it's not talked about enough.

From what I can tell it's an exlusive set which means you won't find it on discount. At least not outside of the LEGO store.
>>

the idea is nice and I'm glad they had time to execute it but Ninjago is and always has been so far out of my interest that I couldn't be bothered. I had some Vikings dragons but they were my least favourite part of those sets. I'm glad an original lego theme could sustain 15 or so years of sets but it hardly had any interesting things for me apart from some good-looking mechs that I would just keep on my shelf to gather dust. I hope something new and less flashy is coming after ninjago, it's always been a zoomer theme in my eyes..
>>
>>11672995
>after ninjago
Ninjago will only end if lego goes bankrupt, at this point it ain't going anywhere, it's like Transformers is for Hasbro. Evergreen.
>>
Dreamzzz scorpion digger is sold out

Surprise surprise, if you make good sets people will buy them, actually a lot of this year dreamzzz sets are sold out but it depends on region.
>>
>>11672997
>Evergreen.
I haven't seen any sales statistics but it's been the same things over and over again for a few years now from what I've gathered here, no? With the occasional display or 18+ set, it's set to surely wear off soon

This anon >>11672997 is right. Ninjago won't go away anytime soon. It's still crazy popular. Look it up on Google Trends and compare it to Dreamzzz or Monkie Kid. The difference is huge.
>>
>>11673004
No. Ninjago is not ending, a new videogame is in the works, more fortnite, a live action movie, another show after dragon rising season 5, and another spin off shows. Designers already said they have planned the next 5 years of Ninjago and 5 Ninjago sets already are global hits this year, 2 being Legacy. It ain't going anywhere you sad lowlife loser. We also get a 18+ set every year for Ninjago and more 14+ sets with the normal 6-9+ sets

lmao no shit, it's like comparing Kanye to cripples, it doesn't mean shit, those themes are either chink bait or baby bait

with AI in the forefront of public attention, it's a prime opportunity to reboot Battlestar Galactica. it's so obvious!

as long as it's more whiz-bang action rather than grimdark dread (like the other BG re-boot was) hopefully Lego would go for it, ironically using the electronic Smart Bricks hehe
>>
>>11673021
I honestly don't care, I just haven't seen anything new or exciting from ninjago for 8 years man, only kids with ninjago backpacks on the street
>>
>bro I just want a theme that last 1 wave or 3 wave at max like it used to
Things changed, Lego don't work like that anymore, why waste resources to make a theme that lasts 3 waves instead of 3 years? Making new stories from scratch is expensive. And Ninjago is not to blame if those themes flop.

huh
interesting, the lego speed-champions set that I got for Christmas came with a piece in the wrong color.
There were suppose to be 2 identical pieces of this "28192" slope with cutout and without stud.
I'm guessing both should be light-bluish-grey, but one is definetly not it. It's not dark-bluish-grey because its a lot lighter than that color.

I think its sand-blue but I'm not sure, what do you think?
>>
>>11673049
they're both light bluish gray you moron
>>
>>11673051
wasn't aware this color difference is possible in manufacturing. No other of my hundreds of other light bluish gray pieces match the one on the right

It's because Lego can't even match colors anymore. They've gone to shit. Its really obvious with lime green.

yeah but the photo doesn't do it justice just how big the difference is in real life.

The darker one is really closer to dark-bluish-grey just a tiny bit brighter still, closer to sand-blue, but totally colorless.

I can’t find Horse Knights Castle at any of the brick and mortar stores I make impulse Lego purchases (like Target and Walmart). Does that mean they have no confidence in the set?

You see them using the little mallets on the Lego Masters TV show. it's mainly used for plate-on-plate flattening where you are stacking like 8x8 plates and need to make sure they are FLAT-flat all around

I don't think any official Lego set is designed to need a mallet, (unless it's some $200+ set that I don't have access to)
>>
>>11672809
>>11672815
That's probably where it being Lego also comes in to help. You get your cool ninjas and shit, and also have things to build, and rebuild, and change for them.

Plus, Ninjago seems to have cannibalized ideas and sets from other Lego themes anyway.
>Ninjago almost always has a huge pirate-esque ship on shelves.
>Also always has a yearly large modular building-esque set for Ninjago AFOLs.
>Dragons and castles and shit reminiscent of the old Castle theme.
>Basically just became the old Ninja/Samurai theme from the late 90's, but on steroids.
>Heavily inspired by anime; mechs, huge swords, always fighting demons, and monsters, and all that jazz

The scooby doo set could be a Speed Champions Mystery Machine, based on how we've gotten 2 movie car sets in a row, not including the fast and furious sets.

I know it's from 2015, but Lego already released the perfect Mystery Machine.

if anything, it's going to be included in a massive $400 REBBOFANK* set (maybe with The Hex Girls band? lol)
(*Ridiculously Expensive Black Box Obviously For Adults Not Kids)

all kidding aside, a re-release would be cool. you think they'd dare release it with all 5 characters? that would also give me hope for a A-Team van with the whole crew on that, too

so many movie cars belong in SC. Bluesmobile, K.I.T.T, A-team
If we can get 20 of the same looking F1 cars we can get 20 movie cars
>>
>>11673282
If they did a bigass expensive Scooby Doo set, it'd probably be something like a haunted house with the van, the five Doo Crew, and maybe 3-5 of the iconic villains, and maybe some generic ghosts, skeletons, a grave digger, etc.

If they did a Speed Champions, I can't see it being more than Shaggy and Scooby. Kind of why I see people pushing for a Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Speed Champions, but I think not only might the car just be a bit too big, but I don't know who they'd choose to go with it, because I doubt they'd choose all four GBs.
