The only way for the figures to have not broken is by not touching them and that's probably why the third one is still intact.

pic of a 2024 wave from Mythic Legions where 4H rushed production and all the joints were made of aerated chocolate. Almost all the toys had air pockets in the joints and 4H tried blaming it on hamhands, which is why the Mythic Legion General died (one of the fanboys took over the slowass Fantasy General and tried renaming it but the general is still slowass because the vast majority of mythic legion fans left)

In the Unkval's case I think it's a QC issue, not common mind you, but I've seen at least 4 or 5 guys in FB groups where the same thing happened almost inmediately. That's why I'm afraid to move the shoulders when posing.

Normal people are able to put themselves into someone else's shoes and figure out what happened.
Considering that guy is already buying used shit on the internet, and the figures undoubtedly cost a lot of money, that person also has some experience with other expensive fragile lines.

Personally, i haven't hamhanded a toy close to 20 years (pulling a Hasbro figure from the bubble without taking off the rubberband) and i've since bought hundreds of toys from dozens of supposedly fragile lines.
Here's a picture i took last year, of a 1:18 toyline that has super tiny clear plastic joints. The Front Mission figures have pegs that you twist to move their limbs around that are as thin as pencil lead. NECA figure is a NECA figure. McFarlane Halo line is supposedly fragile. I own dozens of figures from each of these lines and nothing has ever broken on me.

Mythic Legion is another case though. Never hamhanded any of these toys, but they've broken on me because they fell onto the desk they were standing on (loose joints means they can't stand too well). Never in my life has a toy broken just because it fell 3 inches onto cardboard laminated desk until 4H made their Mythic Legion figures.

Like OPs figures, nothing can prepare you for shitty brittle plastics. No amount of knowing you need to handle a toy like glass *cough*Joytoy's WH40k*cough* is going to prepare you for when a company just plain uses poor plastics.

So dumb. Had wrist pegs shear off on a TVC Tusken Raider and Mandalorian because they were frozen. Black series Anakin's lightsaber blade peg broke when I simply attempted to pull it out of the hilt as is intended.

I am a lot more careful with my expensive import figures and always heat them up before handling. But with things like small pegs, I think it is typically a tolerance issues and companies should do better when designing.

It's ironic that the fragile lines are almost always more expensive than the kiddy budget toys Hasbro makes, yet companies like Joytoy and 4 Horsemen cheap out on the plastics used on their toys.
I mean, even when they KNOW their plastics are inferior, they continue using it years later without changing a damn thing. So using shitty plastics is on purpose.

With lines like Figuarts, there seems to be a problem with their plastics/engineering, but it's only a recent thing. Since it takes about a year to make a toy, that's how long it takes for them to actually figure out their fuck up.

The collector market was expanding too, so now there were TMNT collector lines. Marvel and DC got niche collector lines by NECA, Mezco, etc. Vintage toylines were making a come back with revamped new lines like Battle Beasts, Power Lords, etc.

When they switched the scale, they also decided not to use the Gylos joint system which is actually designed to be modular. So the figures we ended up with are no more modular than a GI Joe or XMen figure. And everytime you heat a toy and force the joints apart, you're risking breakng your toy too, especially 4h's brittle plastics.

Most of the joints have exactly the same engineering as their regular sized figures and can be pulled apart in exactly the same way by functional people that don't hamhands their toys. The only reason the hips were engineered that way was because they weren't wide enough to house the pins for each thigh piece, but as can be seen from your stolen photo they came apart no problem and could be swapped with any of the other ogres. And they changed the engineering after only a couple of Ogre scale figures. No that you would know since you haven't bought a Mythic Legions figure in half a decade.

pic is my own. Broke day one from being opened. The Mythic Legion General was full of people complaining about their figures suffering from loose joints for years, but i guess i was foolish to think i could stand this figure up without a stand. Through my own fault, i let him stand on the desk holding his shield and staff and his ankles gave out after a minute. He fell 3 inches, popping off his limbs and snapping the plastic pegs. I'm so stupid to even place him on the super hard cardboard ikea desk, because fake wood is much too hard for the plastics that 4H uses for their Mythic Legion line.
I should have apologized to 4H way back then, because the stress of people complaining finally broke them last year, where they needed to insult their customers who kept on breaking their toys and lost a ton of their fanbase, including the one here on /toy/.

Only a little. Mainly on model kits, but I used to customize Star Wars figures back before Hasbro really started pumping out glup shittos. I recommend using clippers or a file to get the bulk of the plastic you are trying to remove, and then using sanding sponges in increasingly finer grades to get the finish you want. My sponges range from 600 grit to 2500 for a reasonably smooth finish.

No, 600 is the coarser one that will remove more material with less effort. 1000 is the finer one that you want to finish with. But if you want a shiny finish that is like the finish of a Lego brick, you might need to go finer and then maybe buff or polish it. Even the 2500 ends up being not quite a perfect finish that matches unsanded modern plastic, but that might be my own skill issue.
Really though, the ladders shouldn't be too much effort, but you are going to burn through those sponges quick trying to remove the remainder of the fins on that gray rocket booster. I'd use clippers or a file to get rid of as much excess material as possible first.

The original TMNT were really sturdy. Apart from the belts which are really common to find broken, the figures were some of the most durable from my childhood. It's insane how many people broke their Mythic LEgion figures, but again, it's why the Mythic Legion General died. Well, partly why it died. Despite almost a decade long problem of brittle plastics and really bad customer support, the final straw wasn't an entire wave being made of graham crackers where the majority of buyers had a figure or three break on them. No, the final straw was 4H themselves shitting on the people who publically complained about their toy breaking on them and posting their images.

I think it's crazy that people care so much what their company thinks about them and that's what made them finally ditch Mythic Legion. As consumers, i think the quality should be what makes someone stop buying a toyline. In that respect, i think that's why the Joytoy WH40k fanbase is more respectable, because the WH40k General became a ghost town after Joytoy kept fucking up. Took only 4 years of fuck ups for people to learn Joytoy weren't going to change. The Mythic LEgion General went on for about 8 years of constant fuck ups.

Let's forget that we had a Fantasy General and generals for those other lines for now, because the Mythic Legion General literally died because of all the fanboys outraging and laughing at 4H insulting all their fans after the worst wave in the history of toys was ever released.
4H made a video mocking their fans for complaining about their toys breaking and there were two Generals straight about 4H's damage control. Then the Mythic Legion General died with almost no one posting for who knows how long, because who was monitoring that shit anymore? The last super 4H fanboy then decided to take over the Fantasy General and include the Mythic LEgion line into it, because of how bad 4H's reputation was after their damage control video.

It's hard to say how many 4H fanboys were left over though, but the Mythic LEgion threads used to have 100-80 unique IPs until 2020. Then ~40 until 2024 when the IP counter was discontinued. Post count was already pretty sad in 23 and 24 for Mythic Legion, but the Fantasy Generals before it was taken over were even sadder. And the current Mythic Fantasy General remains just as sad, which means almost nobody continues posting there.

All the toys snapping and 4H's damage control from all the complaints happened in 2024. Part of 4H's damage control was also to delete the images people were posting on various forums that 4H had influence in, causing more outrage. People started saving those photos and posts to prove what 4H was doing. 4H also deleted their damage control video where they insulted their fans for bitching, which no one saved, because it got deleted in only a few hours cuz of the backlash in the comments section.

So whatever few fanboys that they have left, they're definitely following 4H's commands of not posting their broken toys anymore and we've had a few people on /toy/ admitting to this. They didn't want to harm THEIR TOY BRAND'S reputation anymore.

Nah it's true mate, most of the plastic Grey Knights range (Terminators included) is from 2010/11, long before Primaris and the actual scale creep created by the introduction of Scale Creep via Primaris. They're pretty much the only full army still stuck in Heroic Scale due to their models being 15+ years old, whereas every other army has gotten newer models to be in line with 40k's new baseline for scale.

The worst part is that GE just needs to remake two kits to cover the entire grey knights range; grey knights in normal armor (with all of the build options), and grey knights in terminator armor (with all of the build options)(dread knight could also be a new kit, or they could make an upgrade sprue that makes it a taller dreadnaught with a sarcophagus instead of a pilot).
