Why are the limb bots robot forms for MMCs Ocular Max combiners so oddly proportioned? are they maximising the combined modes presentation at the cost of the limbs?

Opened MMC Scrapper today and I spotted a possible design oversight? Basically part of the knees in robot mode double as the knees in the combined mode, but because of how the transformation works and the fact that they reuse parts on both sides instead of mirroring them like they should have, only one ratchet actually ends up being used in the combined mode.I guess the one ratchet still seems fairly strong compared to the ratchet strength in Bruticus and Defensor's knees, but having both ratchets would have been way better.
