Previous thread >>11654638https://archive.palanq.win/toy/thread/11654638Welcome to the 1:18th general. All 1:18th scale lines are welcome including larger scales that may work with 1:18th. Post pics of your latest purchases, dios, customs and whatever else you feel like posting. We encourage mixing lines. Let’s keep this general fun and help each other out.>1:18th linesAcid Rain(post apocalyptic soldiers, mechs, robots, vehicles)Boss Fight Studios(Fantasy, Zorro, Tarzan, Zombies, The Phantom, horses)Boris PingCreative Beast Studios (Beasts of the Mesozoic, Cenozoic, and Cyberzoic)Dime Novel Legends(Western figures)GI JoeHiya(Aliens, D.C., Predator, Robocop)Indiana JonesJazwares(Halo, Fortnite)Joy Toy(Warhammer 40k, Modern/futuristic military soldiers, mechs, dioramas, vehicles, TMNT)Jurassic ParkMarauder Gun Runners(Modern military, WWII, NAM)Marvel UniverseMegahouse - Mobile Suit GundamMicromanPalisades: Army of the DeadPlanet Green Valley(Futuristic military females)SkeletronSchleich(Fantasy, civilians, playsets)Shodo Kamen RiderStar Wars TVCSuper 7(5pts articulation, multiple lines including GI Joe, TMNT, MOTU, Monsters, DnD, Willow, Muppets)The CorpsWorld Peacekeepers - Military vehicles and playsetsO-Ring Lines - Delta-17, Operation: Recall, Callsign: Longbow, Super 7, Skeleton, Legends of the Hidden Force, Retro R.I.O.T. I understand the decision to move to a larger scale and am really glad the creator is doing well - but I would have bought 3 or 4 more of the smaller line as is and more if they came out.
blud's face looks like a butthole
>>11681707 or a very angry Oscar Mayer wiener.
>>11681604100%. They were so unique to the scale and I immediately lost interest when they switched. I'm enough of a scalefag to have my interest piqued soley on something being 1/18. >>11681707He'd go great with Hammond Collection Ellie Sattler and her poop hands
>>11682054 I really liked them and I still follow what's going on with them - but ya. The scale change killed any thoughts of getting more.
Going for an old Pulp look.
Dinosaurs

Dinosaur?
these photos are based, i wish i cared enough to take pics and upload them, but i don't, i dont care about anything anymore. but i i like this thread.
>>11683760 I'm currently both avoiding waves of grief and getting read for a funeral so I doubt I will post anything new for a bit. But I have some Adventure People in the mail and I hope they motivate me and cheer me up.
>>11681202oh hey, that's my picI was not originally going to spend the $185 of the Lizard Dragon... but seeing the factory copies really has me wanting to splurge
>>11685641
>>11685645
>>11685647pretty impressive how close to the paint master the factory sample is.
>>11685648>>11685641It looks good but time and time again I'm let down by this line. I don't really like being negative about it but it's just the reality. Since the dragon is an all new figure with an all new body type there's no way I'm going to take the plunge until reviews start happening. If it's not bad paint with these guys its bad engineering or breaking parts or having 50 POA but 40 of them barely have any movement etc. It's like all the pieces are there for this to be my favorite line ever but they can barely ever get their shit together. I have 3 or 4 of the little desert raptors with the armor pre ordered, I really hope they have worked out the armor kinks by the time those get made and ship, reading all the issues with the allo and some of the other ones to first get their armor has been a huge bummer.
1/18 is so fracturedI want to collect more but its just difficult for certain themesJoytoy covers 40k, okay checkHasbro covers SW, okay check…those are about the only complete and numerous lines available at retailHiya does joes…if you like joes they seem to be at least completing it.Acid rain cover some futurepunk military but releases are sparse and import only and they moved to 1/12MGR was supposed to cover historical military but no updated moulds or bodiesBFS was supposed to cover fantasy but they too seem to have moved to 1/12All I want is mythic legions style large releases, lots of future promise, big collection of fantasy figures. Is that so much to ask for?Why is 1/12 showered with numerous figures?? Literally every obscure theme or property has a 1/12 figure its crazy.
>>11685662I'm gonna be honest, you sound like someone who doesn't actually collect the line.>issues with the allo armorYou mean the ones they apologized for and are offering replacement with the updated parts?
>>11685662I think most of your complaints are highly over stated, but they're expensive, so I'm sympathetic to being cautious, especially given that the line is always a work in progress. Comparing my Daspletosaurus to my Allosaurs shows just how lacking the Tyrannosaur line was when it came to usable articulation in the legs and neck and only two of the Tyrannosaurs have gotten replacement part kits to fix the neck and ankle issues. Plus, while I love my smilodon, the elbows were a 100% a bad idea because they limit the articulation way too much. The breaking parts thing seems like mindless whining though. CB always is always quick to replace any defective parts and posts about it all the time. When my A. jimmadseni had a crack in the neck they replaced it immediately and they are offering total replacements for the Allosaurus armor now that the fixed armors are done at the factory. I've seen had no isuess with the my Smilodon or Achillobator armors and I dont think I've seen anyone posting about them in any of the usual places, so it mostly seems to have be an issue with the Allo armor and that's it.
>>11683760Post anyway. We're all here because we like looking at stuff. >>11685671MGR will announce the next wave of Vietnam figures soon which already have improved articulation including a barbell neck joint, thigh cuts, and rocker ankles. As to why everyone moved to 1/12 I blame marketing and the ACBA. Before the algorithm ruined everything IG still had a decent toy photography scene the ACBA tricked everyone into thinking they were the subject matter experts so people tried to emulate their style which prioritized (mostly domestic) 1/12 figures and companies like Hasbro responded because thats what people were buying. Which is retarded because now they're all hurting for playsets and vehicles etc and like, that's exactly what the fuck 1/18 is for. Its stupid. However, there are still things I look forward to like the female MGR Vietnam figures and Dime Novel Legends will finally put out Native Americans.
I'm dumping some oldies I took with my PGVs years ago.
>>11685671>Hiya does joes…if you like joes they seem to be at least completing it.Those figures look nice and everything, but they're not really worth the money being asked. If Hiya wanted my business, they should do versions of all the characters that were confined to expensive exclusives like the SDCC, and FSS characters. One of the things that piss me off to no end is how Sgt. Slaughter and Zarana were relegated to SDCC. Desert Scorpions are a troop builder, but they were only available through the GI Joe Club single carded. Thing is that all this characters are now available at mass retail through Classified, but somehow they weren't viable as 1/18th?>MGR was supposed to cover historical military but no updated moulds or bodiesI've met Marauder John at NJCC a few times. We've talked about him making this item or that item, but he said that he simply doesn't have the resources to make everything that he or his customers want. >BFS was supposed to cover fantasy but they too seem to have moved to 1/12People complain about Erik and Catrina, but I don't know what's going to happen with Andrew in charge. Not to mention that BFS has made a lot of decisions that alienate their fan base like making Flash Gordon, Phantom, and Tarzan figures, but not continuing the line despite announcing a bunch of figures that people were looking forward to. It also seems that the quality has gone down on newer figures with the latest knight wave having arms break right out of the packaging.
>>11686342>>Desert Scorpions are a troop builder, but they were only available through the GI Joe Club single cardedThat was a salvage of the original idea to release him as a mech suit pilot with the Minotaur Mech (Alpine would have been his wave mate with a rescue focused mech)
>>11686715I'm highly disappointed these damn things never got released.
>>11685671JoyToy also does Ninja turtles and a lot of modern and futuristic military stuff >All I want is mythic legions style large releases, lots of future promise, big collection of fantasy figures. Is that so much to ask for?honestly it seems crazy to me that we haven't gotten anything like that. I know Bossfight has some knights and a couple of fantasy creatures, but the lack of an actual dedicated line is kind of crazy. Maybe as Joytoy moves more into the land of Age of Sigmar figures, we'll get some real fantasy stuff from them, but I hope they do stuff from Warhammer The Old World since the Total Warhammer video games are so popular.
>>11686983man looking at Joytoy's Age of sigmar figures, they've only done one elf and 4 Stormcast Eternals. They really are not churning them out like the main Warhammer line
>>11685671>All I want is mythic legions style large releases, lots of future promise, big collection of fantasy figures. Is that so much to ask for?>tfw Mythic Legions was originally pitched as a 4", Glyos-compatible line, but then MoTU fags bitched enough to get them to change the scale. That last part may not be accurate, but the scale change worked for 4H. I don't know that the line would still be here if they went with the original 4" idea.
If anyone is interested in compatible sized cats at a decent price I found these. Itty Bitty Cats by Archie McPhee
>>11682976Which line is that astronaut from?
>>11689802acid rain but all of those astronauts are brittle as fuck and have a super high chance of falling apart on you.
>>11688118What toy anon?
>>11683760I'm so sorry friend. I don't know what you're going through but whatever it is I hope it gets better and I'll keep you in my prayers.
>>11686304>>11686311>>11686314>>11688118I love the PGV girls, they literally revitalized my love for the scale in that period after Joe ME ended and other lines were barely doing anything. I wish I had room to really mess with my 1:18 stuff, I have this old beat up barn I'd love to convert into my girl's little headquaters. >>11683760I too would love to take more pics of my stuff, but my issue isn't lack of caring...it's like of time, space and energy. My advice is to try and enjoy what you can while you can, because the older you get the harder it is to do the things that make you happy.
>>11690061If that's the case, are there any good 1/18 space suits? I have the Alien suit and it isn't very posable
>>11690061Seconded. I've shilled Acid Rain for years but I would no longer recommend buying OriToy era figures. They haven't held up with age and are either crumbling or gooing and the astronauts were delicate enough when they were new. >>11691081Planet Green Valley Tanya with black hair and a bun which I've only ever seen elsewhere once. She usually comes with a braid. The body and hands are also PGV but the jacket and arms are from a Zombie Lab figure which is on the Vitruvian HACKS system. In fact, Boss Fight sells other figures with the same molds. The cowboy boots are from some other HACKS figure I cannot name as I got them from Vitruvian Armory which I recommend for loose BFS parts. >>11691857Planet Green Valley is starting to release their astronauts --- hence the name. Both Planet Green Valley and Acid Rain World have lore that they don't do much to promote so its easy to forget about.
Any of you own the joytoy gladiators? How are they compared to the 40k line quality wise and size wise compared to the Tyranids?
Bless this thread. /toy/ is in dire need of more dinosaurs
>>11693417I dont have any Tyranids to conpare them too, but here they are next to a Space Marine and Lion El'Johnson so that should give you an idea
>>11695454Unfortunately, /dino & JP/ general just dies so fast now, and /kaiju/ has a meltdown if you post Dinosaurs there. It's a shame, cause the Namu Rex's started shipping out to people and the next BOTM wave is starting to ship.
>>11695770Ugh, I wanted to grab one of those quetzalcoatlus for 1:18 dino-on-Vietnam hijinks, but they actually moved at Christmas. Feels bad, man.
>>11681606great pic, the scale of the grass really helps as does that angle.
>>11691857 Ya, these guys look nice but are not that flexible. I have 2 of the Fresh Monkey Fiction ones as well that I post a bit.
>>11695770Actually wanted to ask, even though they're not 1:18s, since this seems to be the main dino refuge right nowDid anybody else pre-order their Nanmu Rexes on BBTS? Since everyone seems to be getting theirs right about now and this is literally the first and only time I've ever pre-ordered anything /toy/-related, it's making me a bit antsy that mine still has yet to ship.
anyone interested in my Acid Rain original Bucks Team and Forseti? no gumming or leaking yet, haha. will post pics soon
has anyone had any luck using 1:16 (or other scale) cars for 1:18 figures? even any pics for playmobil modified would be appreciated
>>11703422Not my pics but >>11689021 and >>11689022 show off some ME Joes using Playmobil stuff. I'm sure a lot of modifications would be needed for vehicles to properly work (mostly leg room mods) but I'm honestly surprised at how well the Air Traffic Control panels work seeing as how their buildings are very much smaller then 1:18. I have a feeling Playmobil will have a "varies with set" compatibility issue.
>>11703422These are Playmobil trucks. Ambulance and armored cash truck.
>>11704429in the background you can see the armored cash truck has space for figures to sit inside of. Modern 1:18 figures have no problem sitting in those places. The driving seats have a problem allowing af igure to sit in them though. They don't have leg room, so you'll need to cut a hole at the bottom if you want to put anyone in those seats.I have a couple of VW vans (also playmobil) where the back area has no proble seating figures. i forget if the drivers seat has no leg room though.
>>11704432 (You)Here's one of those 1:16 construction vehicles from Bruder. You can kinda see an Iron Man figure in the drivers seat. Unless you know the model, it's almost impossible to tell that it's slightly too big for 1:18.fake edit: and i checked my Playmobil VW van and it doesn't have leg room for the drivers. You'll need to cut a place.Playmobil in general is 1:18, so all 1:18 lines are compatible, but it's iffy if there's leg room or not. Sometimes the heights are off too.
>>11704438>McFarlane made the Halo figures 1:16Literally for what purpose.
>>11704843That's actually 1:15. Later figures were scaled up a bit.The earlier figures were 1:16.And they made them that big because they wanted to make vehicles for the line while being large enough to pack in the detail.Like Bruder's 1:16 vehicles, the Covenant figures are pretty compatible with 1:18 figures. You pretty much have to know the know the actual height for it to bother you and even if you do, it's pretty easy to forgive, since they're aliens.Only human from McFarlane's Halo line that works with 1:18 is the DARE figure, but she's a tiny female and her figure is just a little bit taller than your average 1:18 figure.I army built her and i think she does a better job at fittijng in with 1:18 figures than Jazware's 3.75 Halo figures.
>>11704877And these are my DARE figures.
Posted this in the Star Wars group. This is just a test shot as the powder was too deep to get good "walking" shots. But OBVIOUSLY I'm gonna try them with Joes and COBRA as well.
>>11705397
>>11705400 And one from last year.
>>11705402
>>11704429>>11704438thanks! I remember my brother once modified a 1:16 humvee for joes. I wish I could still find it. and the hummer was a dub city one lol
>>11705800There's so many hummers out that that i think you're better off buying a used actual 1:18 HMMV than getting something in 1:16BBI, Peacekeepers. Power Team Elite. GI Joe. True Hero. Lanard.Almost all of them are pretty good. Fewer working features. Negative/empty undersides, but figures can fit inside without looking wonky.Stay away from diecast/models 1:18 though, because they definitely won't allow your figures to sit inside. The seats are almost always way too far up, giving no space for your figures to sit down, and that requires a lot of cutting. At least with Playmobil, assembly is required, so you can cut everything before you piece it together. Plus, roofs come off.And the reason Playmobil stuff can be so short is because playmobil figures have no legs. It's just feet on a torso. But the figures are as wide as 1:18 and the torso+head is about as tall as a 1:18 male. So everything is correctly for 1:18.
>>11703422Bruder Toys make civilian and industrial vehicles figures can comfortably sit in. This is a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
>>11705957In that vein, he can try Dickie Toys as well.
>>11704432>>11704429they really look good especially for photos like these! I suppose not every figure is going to fit in great, but for shots like that it works. if you like shooting dio pics it looks awesome>>11705811yeah that die cast humvee was a bitch to modify. sometimes I used to see 1:18 scale cars on sale and Id want to grab them. used to have about three cars, I think I have a pic of one in my hard drive somewhere
>>11707969>bump general>it's still on page 10that's fucking ridiculous!
>>11707970I think some threads are just kind of fucked on /toy/ for some reason? Same thing happened to the last dinosaur thread I saw. It's like random threads just auto-sage for no apparent reason.
>>11708056the reason is that you can't bump a thread that is x days old.
>>11708065huh. Didn't realize that. Guess I don't really use slower boards like /toy/ often enough to have noticed
>>11708074It's not a global thing, it was just a lazy workaround the mods implemented here to deal with the spam issue because they couldn't be fucked to actually do their jobs and ban the retards causing problems.
