Tangential but I don't know where I'd ask, do the MSIAs still hold up if I buy an ok presumably-boxed copy from Japan? I'm enjoying the Revive AEUG Mk II so I'm thinking of getting a Titans MSIA, since I'm half-considering getting the HGUC Super Gundam as well as an MG AEUG Mk II at some point. What do I even do with the older Mk II that comes with the super, does it still hold up? Also>welcoem

>>11703769the backpack as the Moebius Zero makes a worthy display piece of its own
>>11703770surprsingly, everyting is securenothing falls off, the backpack attaches to the groove very securely with a square shaped peh that then slides down to firmly attach, so it is not even loose
>>11703773the mechanical arms of each pod can extend quitea bit, forming an X shaped array that occupies a lot of volume, if you decided to use the clear stands and lead wires to simulate when they fully deploy from the main body even more space is needed, which sadly I don't have
Can I talk about Galaxia Bots here? Somehow, a new model kit (well, what looks to be a model kit) of Apollo surfaced one day, and it has so many things that make it amazing: full transformation, clear parts for his solar flares in the back and his sword, and a full inner frame. It's from a Chinese brand called YiLiChuangWan.I could have posted a pic, but it always shows up as "Connection error," so I can't show it off.
>>11704785https://gundamit.com/yilichuangwan-cosmic-star-god-sun-star-god-apollo-model-kit_p6411.htmlHere's a link that serves as proof that this Apollo is a model kit. Now I really hope they make the other nine. All of the Star Guardians (the heroes of the work) have additional names that represent their planet and proper name in SEA English promotions for the toys.>Earth Gaia: the true protagonist of the story and one destined to save the universe>Helios Apollo: the first leader of the Star Guardians (the guy who's getting the model kit)>Mars Ares: master of artillery>Jupiter Zeus: the strong guy of the Star Guardians, also acts as second-in-command>Neptune Poseidon: the laid-back member of the Star Guardians, helpful at the last minute>Venus Aphrodite: the only female, but a skilled swordswoman>Pluto Hades: the prankster of the Star Guardians, surprisingly heroic despite his violent nature>Mercury Tethys: expert marksman and strategist>Uranus Proto: excellent spearman>Saturn Callum: the quiet member

>>11703775oh also forgot to mentionout of curiosity I purchased the recently released head for any 1/100 Strike Gundam made by Minerva HobbyI have yet to see a review of this thing but it is like the 5th or 6th release this company has made so far, it includes a LED and apparently, the yellow v fin is golden.More importantly, it definetely has better proportions than the Daban model: the head of the Daban copy looks weird because the proportions of the mouth plate are much bigger than the lineart, the vents are longer and the eyes are too elongated and thinIt should arrive in a few days so then my autism about having a proper Gunbarrel Strike will be sated
>>11705641so far this is the only comparison I can find: in the center is the head of the Daban 8829 Strike, the fat mouthplate, the thin eyes and the clear green main camera sensor at the top of the head gives it away, the rest are supposed to be the newly sculpted headanyone else here has gotten this kind of stuff to upgrade/improve your kits?: third party waterdecals, diecast frames/parts, accesories and stuff, there is definitely way more stuff available for this hobby than a decade ago or so
does the MG F91 1.0 still get reprinted (or any 1.0 for that matter), or is it completely done? it looks better than the 2.0 desu but its completely out of stock.
>rg wing gundam zero ew clear colori only built 1 leg so far but i think this will give me ptsd

anyone that has ordered Challias Rick Dom off HLJ that have gotten theirs yet? I haven't and I am unsure if I didn't get one or if HLJ is just being HLJ again
Just working through an HG gquacks this week bros... are all modern kits this kino? Haven't touched much since Seed
Does anyone have a Nacchin and some MSG parts? I am curious how much they mesh before i start buying extra pieces.
>>11708396HGs have come a long way. I don't even thing they use polycaps any more so everything just feels incredibly sturdy and doesn't have a tendency to pop out.
>>11709017How's this kit, I have it coming for half-off, the Red Gundam seems alright but I have zero attachment to this from the show>then why did you get it, retardHalf-off is half-off, it just looks like an Evangelion or a sports-anime robot, I have no idea what sort of background to give it because its show sucked ass imo
>>11709020Very solid, well balanced and pretty flexible for a HG. It's like the in between of a HG and an RG if that makes sense. Granted I did break one of the blue rings on the arm but that was my own fault.
>>11709050I think I saw it get cited as a kit that doesn't really use polycaps, even though I've never had a problem with polycaps so far>the in between of a HG and an RG if that makes senseI've heard this for HG kits with inner frames, and I know modern HGs sometimes surprise you with its level of articulation. Is it fun to handle? I think I can warm up to it if it's fun to handle, and my indifference to it and its show will let me play with it more>my beloved RG God Gundam yet again remains untouched for fear I might break it
So, how is the Moderoid Ingram? It’s getting another reissue. I’m not super huge into Patlabor but I love the first movie and the Ingram design overall. I hear it’s not super articulated but it looks articulated enough to look good.
>>11709084Is it??? I got into Patlabor and I fucking love the Ingram, I have a few Moderoids and I'll say the plastic feels solid while the manual is sometimes less clear than Bandai's.
>>11709052>Is it fun to handle? It's very lightweight, if you're a heavy handed person like me you might feel like something could break or pop out but it can handle a lot more than it feels like it can
>>11709088>Is it fun to handle?>It's very lightweightAnon...

finished my first ever plastic modelthis is such an amazing feeling. I'm feeling so psyched at how fuycking awesome this looks holy shitnow i know how you guys feelTHIS FUCKING ROCKS I CANT STOP LOOKING AT IT
>>11709205Looks great bro. Can't wait to start working on my first soon.
>>11709205And now you're addicted.Welcome to the club, brother
>>11709205not bad but in the future you may want to paint those silver parts with actual silver paint, the swirly plastic in the surfaces is kinda jarring
>>11709450I mean, it's not like he couldn't disassemble it and paint it. That's what I usually do.
Sanding each individual piece as you go, or once you've got the kit snapped together?
>>11710754Personally I sand as I go, since I have a fresh memory of where all the gates are due to having just cut them from the runner. I've never even thought about sanding after cutting all the pieces out, and now that it's mentioned I can only imagine not sanding gates because I forgot they were there and then priming and painting the pieces and utterly fucking up the entire kit.
Any info about the turn x reprint ?
>>11709205Nice to see your hype anon. Hit it with some matte topcoat and clean up those nubs and youll be even more psyched.
>>11710754I rarely sand, hobby blade is my go to as im assembling each piece
This thing is pretty fun so far, but DAMN you feel how old it is.
>when the part is obviously defective but the probability of getting a replacement part for a limited-run kit from an obscure company is basically zero
>>11705843>>11706505I don’t know why I was ride or die on the Endless Waltz designs for so long. This thing dumps all over the Endless Waltz version (granted, they’re two very different stages in RG tech).
Duncan has moved from warhammer to gundam https://youtu.be/nzp14UmPZNo
>>11715523Great. Now the troonhammer retards will invade Gundam too.
I want to buy the MGEX Freedom but I'm not a fan of the one tone of gold used, it just looks incredibly cheap. Is there any hope a 3P would release recoloured parts? I just discovered the 107 toys upgrades for RG kits which made me wonder.
>>11715523It's been an ongoing thing across the hobby. There was that one miniatures YouTuber who built an Aerial for the first time last year, and then she went and entered and won a Gunpla contest. They're all apparently tired of James ripping them off with exorbitant pricing on WH tabletop pieces that are single color non-articulated but still cost as much as MG kits each, which is also why you see a huge movement towards 3D printing.>>11715796I mean, there are bootlegs of the MGEX Strike Freedom, at least two or three different Chinese companies doing it. You could save some money there and then use it towards a painting setup.
>>11715796there's the normal, the black and the full white MGEX SF versions made by chinks, pick your poison
Bandai is getting too fucking greedy with their SMP prices.$100+ each for a recolor of two Gaoranger zords.
more 3rd party stuff, this Gryps DOM which already is better than Bandai's by the mere fact it includes the giant axe besides the bazooka
>>11716375and this kit, which I got to replace the head of the Daban model >>11702002
>>11716371Weren't SMPs always ridiculously overpriced? Even though they were meant to be cheaper toys at the start?
>>11716610the SRX they made ended up being as pricey or even more expensive than the sentinel set made a few years ago
>"add steel details, it looks cool" they said>"they're easy to adapt" they said
>>11716680why would you need a dremel for this?
>>11716680>"they're easy to adapt" they saidThey are though.
>>11715478clean up the nubs big fella
>>11716684It had two horizontal knubs to hold the originals spikes and wouldn't fit the steel ones (they are originally for the 1/100 Johnny Ridden High Mobility Zaku

I’ve been feeling the urge to start building after a while of collecting figures. I got this Fix Figuaration Metal Composite RX-78-2 and it’s so fucking cool that I bit the bullet and bought a HG Altron kit and then found a MG 3.0 RX-78-2 at Hobby Lobby for 40% off and couldn’t pass it up. I’ll dip my toes in with the Altron and save the 3.0 for when I have a long weekend to take my time with it. The level of detail on this FF figure is insane, and that’s what I’d like to work towards with model kits.
>>11716699Y-yes senpai

I want to try weathering for the first time (never painted before btw). Do I need to add a primer beforehand, and if so can I just use the matte spray then matte spray again after the weathering?
>>11717866the cheapest is 20 before tax but I expect I'll be raped by tariffs
>>11718524If the pricing says that import costs are included, that means tariffs are already factored into the cost. But if you give it a few days or weeks, that won't matter anymore lol.
>>11716680The glue for metals is drying up, at least once I removed the nubs everything fits
>>11718544that looks dangerous
>>11718544 (samefag)I fucking love the Psycho Zaku>>11718554Good
>>11718133You can just watch a YouTube video or check the faq. Anything but leaving a comment here and waiting hours for a response would be a better idea than your dumb as question that could be solved with a simple Google search. Also idk
>>11718133depends on what kind of weathering. generally no, because it's impossible to apply primer only on rmtge areas you want to apply weathering to. you can give it a matte top coat before and after to hold the paint a bit better.
jesjsjdjdjdiwiwiajsks
>>11718133If you're just wanting to dry brush some corners/edges and drag weathering powder on it then no, you're fine with just matteif you want to actually repaint areas then yes you need primer
speaking of weathering, washes/newsh before or after the other weathering stuff?
>buy MG Jagen and Red Gundam thinking I'll have some time before the MG Barb is released locally>local sends Email saying they have it in stock the day after>they also have the 30MP Rei
It's just me or the recent stickers like for the gcuck line are shit ? they don't stay without glue
>>11719523Just get the waterslides. I never bother with bamco stickers anymore.
>>11718868Really depends on your goal and story to the weathering.Maybe some of the metal chips happened in previous outings with the suit, so a wash over those chips might make sense. But maybe some chips happened on the most recent outing, so they've not had time to get dirty like a wash might imply.
>>11703769>>11703775>>11703773>>11702002Is that the MB strike?
>>11719993close but noit is the MB style kit made by Daban, especifically the one with the gunbarrel strikerthey have released all the strike packs so far, with the exception of the Aile, which is weird as it is the most iconic look. One of the runnners in the kit has various parts that are obviously for that backpack but they have yet to release it
>>11720207Did you buy the metal frame separately?
>>11720211various things along the course of a couple of months:- the daban kit itself- the diecast inner frame from iron toys. strictly speaking it is not really necessary, at least for the main body, but no way the strike model can hold up the large backpack with the plastic frame, in fact, the weight is such even with the metal one you need to balance it carefully around the ankles, otherwise, the kit provides you too with various clear supports to hold the backpack from behind- a sheet of waterslide decals (of the MG RM Strike). The daban model gives you 2 large sheets, one for the model and for the backpack, but these lack the archangel and Mwu's insignias and the X105 markings for example- finally, a whoe new sculpted head made by minerva hobby as seen here >>11716818, because while the model is a perfect replica of the MB figure, it drops the ball a bit with the head, giving it some weird proportions and making the eyes too small
What's the recommended thing to use to clean up runoff Tamiya panel liner? I've seen people say lighter fluid, is that fine?
>>11720232also, rewatching the first seed episodes I realized the giant railgun thing is what Mwu's Moebius Zero is armed with right off the bat
>>11720306Enamel thinner/ turpentine also works.
>>11720232>MB style kit made by Daban,Decals aside, how much did it cost in total?
>>11720973the daban kit costs around 80 bucks itself in aliin total, I paid around 150 dollaritos for all the items I used, the diecast frames are particularly expensivestill cheaper than the 350+ bucks you would need to pay for the whole set, as the actual MB Strike needs the gunbarrel striker that was sold as a pbandai exclusive
>>11720306Zippo fluid is stinky but always works great for me. Just a little bit on a swab is enough. Sometimes the plastic looks discolored after using zippo fluid but goes back to normal with a quick buff.
>>11714507Nice I just finished zatton over the weekend, I’ll post actual pics after work, picrel for reference
>>11721236I’m retarded and forgot the image
>>11720306If you don't like the smell of thinner or fluid, depending on where you've lined, you can just use an eraser.
is gkgundamkit a good place to order from? I wanted the HG 1/144 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Custom] with Flying Unit “ICARUS"(Advance Of Z The Flag Of Titans) and p-bandai stopped orders WAY WAY too early
