Do you have any favourite pre-80s toys or playsets? I know nothing about them, would enjoy seeing some cool vintage toy pics.

The 90s version everyone loves was a piece of junk compared to the original.

Never knew this was a thing. The slide going into the moat is a nice touch.

I remember my Dad had an old Meccano kit that looked like this, I loved playing with it as a kid. Looks like they're still around as a company.

Aside from those old-fashioned heavy, cheap, rubber chinasaurs I really miss the garden variety cheap plastic toy vehicle + recognizable pop culture driver sort of toy. There are some modern parallels but nothing scratches the itch the old examples once did.

>The slide going into the moat is a nice touch.

The dragon is on a trap door that dropped you straight down to the yellow bar door in the moat. I dropped everybody down there so many times.

>thinking this hunk of shit is better than the 90s version

>Multiple full sized floors
>slide from the ramparts to the dungeon
>secret door to dragon cave
>stairwell that moves to reveal hidden room
>heavy, solid and could survive any kind of siege play
>kick ass spring flag that made a cool "boing" sound
>charming stickers that were whimsical yet realistic and fully covered the castle
>has an actual moat with working drawbridge
>Is actually a full castle and not just a facade wall

Compared to the 90s junk
>flimsy soft plastic that bends and folds with light pressure
>mostly solid grey plastic with sparse cartoony stickers
>puddle that gets mostly covered by drawbridge
>completely open insides as the castle is just two walls and part of a roof
>main feature is a giant cartoonish boulder cannon attached to the inside of the castle on a part that always falls off and gets lost
>kings' "throne" is some narrow catwalk that doesn't even have stairs to access it
>multiple hand grips and climbing paths outside the walls making for easy access for invaders.
>weighs nothing.

I mean sure, for it's time it was cool, but mostly because there were no other castles on the market. But compared to the OG, it was flimsy and boring to look at.

The figures were cool though FP knocked it out of the park with those knights.

We had this house and it saw countless army men battles. Also had the big spaceport but this vehicle is all that survives.

I used to have this Gilligan's Island floating playset from 1977. The little treasure chest and raft reminded me of Zelda, so I used to use it with a little Link figure I had, moreso than the Gilligan ones that came with it. Shit was cash.

Technically no but it's enjoyable to see them anyway. They need to bring back some holographic toys.
