New bois edition.
Literally all I want is HH Word Bearers come on China.
>>11718585Is the mcfarlane line still going?
>>11718769Yep, and some new ones announced at Toy Fair too.
Started posting in the customs general but figured it might be good to post here too. Working on a retro-style RTB01 Space Marine figure for printing. Still a lot of work to do, but here he is so far with a digitized Major Bludd someone had for free on Cults and a 3X size scan of an actual RTB01 Marine.Plan is he's gonna be firmly retro-styled but hopefully still quite poseable. Articulation I have in mind:>Balljoint neck and waist>Balljoint or universal hips and shoulders (haven't decided which) with thigh and bicep swivels>90 degree hinges for knees and elbows>Peg swivel wrists>Balljoint anklesSo slightly better than an actual 80s Joe but still fairly simple. Proportions will be a little funky kinda on purpose, notably the hands will be fairly large both to match the old models and also so swapping weapons will be easier. Weapons will have simple pegs for handles.Still a lot of work to do but pretty happy so far.
Hey, I have a retarded question. Is there any reason to pick up an introductory set over this if I'm just interested in painting?
>>11718757and world eaters, salamanders, death guard, and emperor's children
Command shelf complete! At this point I'd be dumb NOT going for 2000pts, right? R-right?
>>11720336Nice collection! Posing could use work but still, looking good.Did more work on retro Beaky. Unfortunately my keyboard got water on it so I have to wait for that to dry out and pray to the Omnissiah that it's not fucked before I can resume work.
>>11719589>>11721056That looks interesting, are you going for teh old school Rogue trader era Beakies look?>>11719749Depends, if you just want to paint you can start with this, I would only pick an introductory set if your mindset is "more minis = more things to paint = awesome" but if its your first time painting minis you should start small, obviously your first one isn't gonna look like the ones people show off on social media.
>>11722212>That looks interesting, are you going for teh old school Rogue trader era Beakies look?Yep, that's the plan!
>>11720336dont let that other faggot diss you, anon. your posing is 99th percentile
>two grand just casually sitting on a shelf I'm unemployed btw
>>11723518>unemployed retard>boxniggerfigures
>>11718769>>11718957Sorry for your loss.
I repainted Abaddon's face.
>>11718585>more spess merheenswho gives a flying fuck
>>11725354the brain tubes will never not be funny.
To those anons that don't stick to a single chapter, what influences your buying decision most? Accessories? Looks? Lore? Or do you like to spread things around for a mix of paint schema? I'm coming to end of the specific faction models I like, but my wallet is so very tired.
>>11726941I mostly buy primarchs or other significant lore figures that appeal to me or dudes with wings.basically shit that looks cool to me
>>11725354It looks good, but I can't really tell what you've done. I can see you've done the eyebrows, did you also redo the eyes and eyebags?>>11726941I hate Primaris marines, so I'm sort of stuck with Ultramarines but that's OK because it stops me from spending money like a drunken sailor. Ideally I'd like more Xenos or non-marine Imperials, For the Heresy era I've gravitated towards the Chaos forces that I can find relatlively cheap with a smattering of Loyalist victims because I can mix them in with the 40k era Legionaries. I'm hoping that they eventually do ancient and modern versions of Typhus, Ahriman and Lucius
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4xZUr0BEfE
>>11727809I actually repainted the entire face, but I totally get that you can't tell the difference except for the eyebrows...In this slightly more detailed photo, you can see the brushstrokes.
>>11726941Mostly focusing on Horus Heresy, especially 1.0, and dabble a little in 40k, but I ignore everything Primaris, with Leviathan Termies being a sole exception, as they look close to their OG squat designs.I also ignore Primarchs and the majority of named characters, mostly due to their price, but I'm also just not a big fan of Primarch designs. Dudes without helmets also most likely getting a pass. I'd like to get Dreadnoughts, especially Contemptors, Levis and Castraferrums, but again, high price and shelf space is not limitless. What gets the most attention is the regular marines, especially ones that got their unique chapter/legion heraldry going. I'm big fan of Imperial Armour (Badab War) and HH 1.0 Black Books, they captured me with their detailed art and almost war documentary-like presentation, especially pages that depict various marines with their unique panoply and honours.I'm just crazy about power armor Mks and variants. So I collect armour configurations that I like and try to limit clones to the minimum, so I'm pretty selective with my choices. For example, out of all 3 Dawnbreakers, I only got one, as they are all pretty identical to each other. I also try to get the most vanilla, representative of all armour types, like Imperial Fist Cataphractii terminator being THE default vanilla Cataphractii of my collection, and then I try to get most interesting Legion specific variants, like Justaerin (claws and carsoran axe), Lernaeans (dude with volkite), Crimson Paladins (with Iliastus autogun) etc. The same goes for everything else.So basically each release goes like this:>do I like the this specific design and configuration>does it look unique enough and is there a hole with its name in my collection>do I have enough money>do I like how Joytoy depicted them (I passed on Exodus because I thought JT did a pretty atrocious job on him)
>>11728423I thought the same about Exodus too but when you get him in person and in hand he just feels and looks like a dream. He's legit one of the cooler ones I have and the chocolate bars on his shoulders can easily be glossed over considering the whole package.
Anybody want to buy my last JT stuff?
Mortarion has arrived!Overall it's a good fig, but I'm thinking of repainting the face.
>>11732126Looks like it could majorly benefit from something as simple as a light wash, honestly. The actual paintwork that's already there looks neat but it needs a touch of shading. That aside he looks great. Not interested in Primarchs but, damn he looks proper gnarly.
>>11731177>>11718585So what is the consensus on those joytoy figures?
>>11731177are you a europoor?
>>11732126is he really cross-eyed?
>>11734111Movable eyeball mechanism.
>>11732126Mine's still on the way; but keep us posted when you repaint. The face the part i'm not very satisfied about already without having it in-hand.
>>11735098I just finished painting the eyeballs.
>>11735684And the faceplate.
>>11735721Done
>>11735753Much better and less goofy than OG. Got the exact "tired of your shit" look befitting the Mortarion. No idea why JT bothered with eye mechanism, when pupil were barely visible.
>>11735753
>>11735797I’m glad the eyes move, but you’re right—there really aren’t any plain “dots,” are there…
>>11735798Another pics. The eyeballs are still movable.
>>11735684>>11735721>>11735753well good fucking lord, that's just fantastic. on a level i'll never be able to do with mine. fug
>>11734110No US. Also Shadowsun has been sold
>>11736482Not the other anon, but would you consider sending to the UK? I'd love to get the Fire Warriors, because apparently I just missed the boat on them. >>11735684>>11735856Magnificent work, anon. You do the Grandfather proud.
>>11736568>would you consider sending to the UKNormally I would say no but that depends on you're willing to pay for them desu
>>11736568>>11736628Feel free to send me an email if you want to talk about it since this thread is dying anyway
>>11736670Thanks anon, I'm at work today and signal is super spotty so I'll try to drop you a line later.
>>11736163>>11736568Thanks!I'll try adding some weathering to the armor when I have time.
>>11737406If you felt like it, you could get the new Jaghtai Khan and really bash him up to go with Morty at the end of the Siege of Terra.
I just got my first few WH40K figures. 2 blue intercessors & 2 red intercessors. I'm looking for dudes with shields. I'm mostly going for what I think it's cool - shields & melee weapons, bulky armours, perhaps a little bit of army building? (really thinking about getting 2 MKIII)
>>11740035Blues with shields include veteran bladeguards, victrix honor guard, chaplain in terms armor, and one of the captain variants. If you like bulky and want to keep within the 40K era (vs HH line or SM2 line), I just got the Termie 3pack and they are neat.
This line is just so stale and tired now. Just marines, marines, marines. Oh well, JT is a commercial company and if people won't pay for anything but marines then I can't blame them for that. But it's just so over.
>>11740323Afaik, they have some tyranid, necron, tau, and militarum... What other characters/xenos would you like more of? Not trying to sound like an ass, genuinely curious. I think more varieties of tyranids would be nice, but they've only been producing for 5 years and I'm sure they plan to go a lot longer based on current sales.
>>11740641Yeah they stopped producing all those factions. Nobody bought the Tau but me apparently. Tyranids seem to have been popular. They did a handful of Orks early on then nothing. Wish they would revisit the orks and make some cheap army builders. The Astartes need enemies.
>>11740893Good point, Orks should be much better represented.
>>11740893I bought multiples of the Necrons (which I sold off, but hey) every night I dream of more of those glorious silvery bastards.
We need Eldars, pronto.Joytoy already did a pretty good job with AoS elf, and they nailed her proportions, I'm pretty sure Eldars should be about her size.
I just received my first figure, an Ultramarine Intersessor. I'm pleased with it, he looks cool and after some dicking about I've settled on posing him with the heavy bolter and jump pack. Getting him to hold the gun properly was a bit weird at first but when I realised I could bend the fingers a little to grip the necessary parts without snapping them off it all worked out.I'm going to see if Joytoy do any AdMech figures. They're a neat faction.
>>11743408They already did some Skitarii, a datasmith and a couple of robits.
>>11740641I'd like basic Cadians for army building, they only released the command squad, some basic Orks, my marikes need enemies, and hopefully Eldar one day
>>11732126Waiting on mine still, fuck I can't wait
have the army builder terminators been shipped yet?
Does he look as bad in person as he does on the product pictures?
>>11745206Not my photo. He's kinda on a blander side. Treat him as a default white clone trooper.
>>11745311I think what makes him look so off is that his pauldrons don't have a trim which makes them look bigger and his arms too short, same with his shin guard.
>>11745358Yep, just a catastrophic lack of any iconography hurts him. Even a some roman numerals on knees would go a long way, just something to break that big blue blob. And proportions are proper fucked up.
This line is so fucking boring now. Let it die.
>>11745709Besides the proportions, they also changed the beak of the helmet.
>>11747704>they also changed the beak of the helmet.Weirdest thing about all of this?Their (Joytoy) original MkVI release was more or less faithful to the shapes of the tabletop refresh of MkVI (from Age of Darkness HH 2.0 box). It had that slightly doopy, kinda organic, roundish retro shape to the helmet. But when Joytoy revealed updated MkVI army builder mold, for some reason, they choose the head of Vox Nuncio user as a default representative, with antenna and everything, all of it for the default basic bitch Legionnaire, but they also drastically changed the shape of the beak and lenses, which is now more in lines with the heads from Raven Guard MkVI upgrade sprue, with its aggressive shape with straight lines.Your approach confuses and frightens me, Joytoy.
They're up.
